Candace Owens Says She’s ‘Ready for Hollywood Babylon to Fall’ After Diddy’s Alleged Obstruction of Justice Attempts

Candace Owens has reacted to allegations of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ attempts to obstruct justice in his upcoming sex trafficking and racketeering case.

Last week, prosecutors claimed that Diddy allegedly had family members reach out to potential witnesses and victims while he’s been behind bars, and urged a judge to deny the embattled mogul’s bail request.

Owens hopped on her eponymous podcast on Tuesday (Nov. 19) to discuss Combs and how people appearing to be private investigators have also allegedly approached various social media influencers regarding their content on the accusations against Diddy.

“It sounds terrifying,” Owens said. “The media has always been complicit in laughing away Diddy’s criminality … It was independent media that held onto these allegations. It was us social media influencers and independent journalists who kept this story alive.”

She played a clip from TikToker Samson Crouppen, who showcased what appeared to be a pair of PIs pulling up to his residence and questioning him about being paid to influence his content as well as possible celebrities tied to Diddy. Crouppen denied allegations he had received payment for his content, and TMZ confirmed that he had filed a complaint with the LAPD for harassment.

“What company would have a vested interest in the Diddy case? I would say a lot of them,” she said. The political commentator also shared she believes the Diddy case “is at the crux of all the Hollywood corruption.”

“All of Hollywood could fall,” she added. “Guess what? I am here for that. I am ready for Hollywood Babylon to fall.”

Another bail hearing is scheduled for Diddy on Friday (Nov. 22). The music mogul was indicted on sex trafficking and racketeering charges in September, and has pleaded not guilty. He’s expected to face trial in May 2025.

Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century Podcast: Rihanna (No. 3)

On today’s (Nov. 20) episode of the Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century podcast, we reach No. 3 on our list with a pop super-duperstar who shined bright for 13 years of absolute pop world command, before ducking out to tend to her business and empire for most of the past decade. (Read our No. 3 Greatest Pop Star essay about Rihanna here.)

Host Andrew Unterberger is joined by Billboard staff writer Kyle Denis and senior branded content producer/writer Walaa Elsiddig to remember the dazzling career of Robyn Rihanna Fenty. We discuss both the absurd chart numbers and more intangible factors that made Rihanna loom large over all of 21st century pop stardom, and debate her ranking alongside our No. 4 Greatest Pop Star Drake — where Rih might not have the same level of statistical accomplishments as her frequent co-star but always dominated their one-on-one matchup.

We also discuss how Rihanna shed early one-hit wonder (or two-hit wonder) worries to become a no-doubt A-lister, and how the assault from her superstar then-boyfriend (and the wildly unfair and inappropriate media coverage of the incident) cruelly interrupted what was one of the most incredible rises of the ’00s. Then, we explain how she elevated from hitmaker to global icon over the course of the 2010s, before essentially going out on top with a no-doubt classic album that sounds even better in 2024 than it did back in 2016. Finally, we remember some great moments in Rihanna Social Media Clapback History, share memories of saucy Bad Gal lyrics getting us in trouble, and attempt some impromptu (and off-key) Rih-Yo duet recreations.

Will Shaboozey Tie the Hot 100 No. 1 Record Next Week?

The Contenders is a midweek column that looks at artists aiming for the top of the Billboard charts, and the strategies behind their efforts. This week, for the upcoming Billboard Hot 100 dated Nov. 30, we look at whether the longest-running No. 1 of 2024 is about to tie the record the longest-running No. 1 of all-time.

Shaboozey, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (American Dogwood/EMPIRE/Magnolia Music):  It’s graduation week for “A Bar Song” on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, as its reign on top turns 18. The song is currently also trending toward a 17th week at No. 1 on Radio Songs – while this past week, it logged its 15th week atop the charts simultaneously, a new record for the longest such double-up since Radio Songs began in 1990, passing Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together.” It has also been top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart continuously since late April and Streaming Songs since May; it has been top 10 on all three Hot 100 component charts, including Radio Songs, concurrently each week since late June.

Is there any reason to think it’s due for any big falls or rises before next week, where it goes for its all-time record-tying 19th week at No. 1 – potentially matching Lil Nas X’s Billy Ray Cyrus-featuring “Old Town Road” from five years earlier? Well, it slid more (though not a tremendous amount) this week in both streaming and radio airplay, though its sales were up 16%. The song’s overall momentum going into next week might depend on tonight’s (Nov. 20) CMA Awards, where Shaboozey is both a scheduled performer and a nominee in single of the year (for “Bar Song”) and best new artist.

Trending on Billboard

With a big, consumption-driving night at the CMAs tonight (and with next week’s charts reflecting consumption for the tracking week ending Thursday), the timing might be right next week for Shaboozey to etch his name in the Billboard history books.

Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars, “Die With a Smile” (Streamline/Interscope/Atlantic/ICLG): Despite being a full three months into its lifespan at this point, “Die With a Smile” is still gaining chart momentum, as it hits the Radio Songs top five and No. 1 on Pop AirplayGaga‘s first time reaching those heights since 2011. The song’s streaming looks to be relatively even with last week, and it’s currently discounted to 69 cents on iTunes – as is “A Bar Song” — so it should be a pretty close battle next week on the Hot 100 between the two. If Shaboozey does get a CMAs bump, can Gaga and Bruno and their respective teams find a way before Friday to get their song a little extra juice? These questions might determine the winner in what should be a very closely monitored Hot 100 race next week.

Gracie Abrams, “That’s So True” (Interscope/ICLG): After topping Streaming Songs and hitting the Hot 100’s top 10 for the first time this week, “That’s So True” has become the first truly undeniable smash of Gracie Abrams’ career. The song’s streaming growth seems to be slowing this week — so it might not be challenging for No. 1 as soon as next week – but it’s gotten big enough that Abrams’ Interscope label has started to shift its radio promotional efforts (previously focused on “Close to You” and “I Love You, I’m Sorry”) to it. If radio starts to pick up on “True” the way streaming has, there’s probably no ceiling on how high the song can continue to climb for the rest of 2024 and into 2025.

Mariah Carey, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (Columbia/Legacy): As the weather cools down, Mariah Carey just starts getting stronger. “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is starting to get its usual seasonal airplay, and jumps from 34 to 21 on this week’s Streaming Songs chart — the highest-ranking holiday entry — and should continue climbing in leaps and bounds in the weeks to come. “All I Want” could rechart on the Hot 100 — maybe even in the top 10 — as soon as next week, and from then it’s only a matter of time before it becomes the frontrunner to reign again during the holiday season, for the sixth calendar year in a row. And if it does… it’s already racked up 14 weeks total at No. 1, so it might not be long until it gets in the all-time record conversation with Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus (and soon enough, possibly Shaboozey).

Banks Announces New Album & Teases Its Close Relation to Debut ‘Goddess’

Follow-ups The Altar (2016) and III (2019) entered at Nos. 17 and 21, respectively. And while her fourth album, 2022’s Serpentina, leaned heavier into experimental R&B production, Banks promises her forthcoming album is a return to form.

“In many ways, this album serves as a big sister to Goddess,” Banks shared in a statement of Off With Her Head, out Feb. 28. “After a decade apart, I’ve reunited with the core musicians and producers who shaped my debut. Yet, it also represents something entirely new, reflecting my growth as both an artist and a person.”

Trending on Billboard

“[The album is] about shedding past identities that no longer resonate,” she tells Billboard. “The title symbolizes the various ways we construct, perform, express, and sometimes hide our thoughts. There’s a tension between how we see ourselves and the roles that society imposes. Breaking free from that has been incredibly liberating, and this journey is captured throughout the album.”

To coincide with the album announcement, Banks announced her next single “Best Friends,” will arrive on Friday (Nov. 22). The song fittingly touches on the growing pains that often accompany growing apart, with Banks sharing in a statement that the song “is about someone who was my sister for many years, someone I still dream about and wake up missing … I think we broke each other’s hearts.”

In October, Banks returned with the sinewy “I Hate Your Ex-Girlfriend” featuring Doechii. It will also be included on Off With Her Head. But before that album arrives, Banks has a special treat for fans. On Dec. 13, she will release Goddess Unplugged, an acoustic version of her debut album as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Judge Says Prosecutors Can’t Use Materials Seized In Diddy Jail Cell Raid

Diddy has just received his first piece of good news in a long time. A judge has ruled that prosecutors can’t use materials seized from his jail cell.

As spotted on Deadline, the now embattled mogul might be feeling more confident heading into his upcoming bail hearing. On Tuesday (November 19), Judge Arun Subramanian denied the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District the ability to leverage any information seized from an October raid in Diddy’s jail cell. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams submitted a filing last week alleging that the Bad Boy Entertainment founder had written notes detailing plans to “blackmail” witnesses, make unauthorized calls, and more.

“While attempting to evade law enforcement monitoring, the defendant has, among other things, orchestrated social media campaigns that are, in his own words, aimed at tainting the jury pool; made efforts to publicly leak materials he views as helpful to his case; and contacted witnesses through third parties,” the memo read.

Additionally, prosecutors also submitted a transcript of a call Diddy made to one of his sons that shows “the defendant’s goal is to blackmail victims and witnesses either into silence or providing testimony helpful to his defense.”

Some of the items seized in the raid include “intact pages from two different legal pads, (ii) pages of an address book, (iii) a ripped-out, folded-over page of a third legal pad, (iv) a ripped-out page of another legal pad and (v) a ripped-out page of yet a different legal pad.”

Diddy’s legal team pushed back citing the raid violated several of their client’s Amendments rights. Diddy’s third bail hearing is scheduled for November 22. He has previously offered a $50 million bond and agreed to only be in contact with his family and legal team.

Jelly Roll Says He’s Lost 110 Pounds This Year Following Lifelong ‘Battle’ With ‘Food Addiction’

Jelly Roll is staying the course on his fitness goals.

In a candid interview with People for his cover story published Wednesday (Nov. 20), the country star revealed that he’s lost a total of 110 pounds this year so far — 60 to 70 pounds of which he estimates have disappeared while he’s been on his ongoing Beautifully Broken Tour. “The battle was with the food addiction, changing the way I’ve looked at food for the last 39 years,” he explained to the outlet.

“I’ve never had a healthy relationship with food, so that was the hard part,” he continued. “But once you get into that discipline and commitment, it’s like an avalanche. Once that little snowball started rolling, it was on its way.”

Jelly has long been open about his journey with health and exercise. The new interview comes just under a month after he revealed he’d surpassed his 100-pound weight loss goal by incorporating walking, basketball and boxing into his travel regimen on the road.

Before that, the “Need a Favor” artist finished his first 5K. In preparation for the April race, he revealed at the time that he’d lost 70 pounds.

And while speaking to People, the star shared that his journey is far from over. “I hope I continue to lose this weight,” he said. “Nobody in my house ever had [a healthy relationship with food], so that was the hard part, really fighting that demon at first and getting into that discipline and that commitment.”

Jelly has also making strides in his career this year, with the musician recently nabbing his first-ever No. 1 album in October with Beautifully Broken. Following the end of his Beautifully Broken Tour, he’ll join Post Malone on the road for a North American stadium trek kicking off in April.

Plus, Jelly recently nabbed two new Grammy nominations: best country song and best country solo performance for “I Am Not Okay.”

Eric Church Talks Performing ‘Darkest Hour’ at Upcoming CMA Awards, Aiding Those Impacted By Hurricane Helene

Church is a CMA entertainer of the year winner and two-time CMA album of the year winner. But during his performance at the upcoming awards show, the focus won’t be about hit songs or career success. North Carolina native Church is using the awards show’s wide-reaching platform to perform his recent release, and solo-written, “Darkest Hour,” with the aim of continuing to shine a light on those who continue to be impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Helene. It was previously revealed that Church’s publishing royalties from “Darkest Hour” will go to aid those who impacted by Hurricane Helene.

“I think the biggest thing that the people of North Carolina need after Helene is awareness,” Church tells Billboard ahead of the CMA Awards. “Because as a society we tend to move on pretty quickly to other things. That’s just our nature and these people are going to need help for a long time. So the more that I can shine a light on the people there and the need that is going to still be there for a long time, the better off it it will be. And we can help the people there get back on their feet.”

Trending on Billboard

Since the category four Hurricane Helene wrought destruction in numerous communities in North Carolina and other states in September, with more than 100 storm-related fatalities in North Carolina alone, Church has been a leader in spearheading several efforts to help those in need.

He teamed with fellow artists including Luke Combs, James Taylor and Billy Strings to lead the “Concert For Carolina” in October, with the event also welcoming guests including Keith Urban, Scotty McCreery, Parmalee, Sheryl Crow and Chase Rice. Concert For Carolina raised over $24 million to help those impacted Hurricane Helene.

“It was an amazing night,” Church tells Billboard, reflecting on the event. “I’ve done a lot of shows, but I don’t know that I’ve ever felt a show like that. We had a lot of people come help — Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow, James Taylor — and it just ended up being this redemptive revival night. But at the same time, we all knew why we were there. We knew that there was still a need. So we were there on a mission. The concert had a mission feel to it that we were organizing and weaponizing and we were there to help the people in North Carolina. It was a unique feel for any concert I’ve ever done.”

Additionally, the singer-songwriter’s Chief Cares Foundation launched the building initiative Blue Print for the Blue Ridge, pledging to build 100 homes for families in Avery County, North Carolina and surrounding areas whose homes were impacted by the hurricane. Church tells Billboard that he’s visited Avery County multiple times, surveying the damage and looking at sites for the project.

“In this country, we do pretty well at the 911 — the food, the water, the diapers. We don’t do as well at phase two, and that’s keeping people in the community,” he says. “We will never rebuild these communities if you don’t keep the people there. So we’ve committed to putting a hundred homes in Avery County and to give people a place that they can figure out what’s next for them. They can stay in their county, their kids can stay in the local schools, they can stay involved in their church. It just gives ’em a shelter that they can then figure out the next part of their life. And it’s all I’ve been doing every day, all day since the hurricane happened.”

Dr. Oz Is Donald Trump’s Latest Cabinet Pick, Xitter Recoils

TV personality Dr. Oz is Donald Trump’s choice to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, leaving social media users horrified.

On Tuesday (November 19), President-Elect Donald Trump announced that he was selecting Dr. Mehmet Oz, the former celebrity heart surgeon who became a television personality before getting into politics. The move garnered a slew of responses from social media onlookers who were appalled at the choice, which aligns with Trump’s prior picks of television personalities to fill the cabinet for his incoming presidential administration.

In a statement, Trump wrote that Oz would “work closely with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to take on the illness industrial complex, and all the horrible chronic diseases left in its wake.”

Oz’s reputation grew after being featured on media mogul Oprah Winfrey’s long-running talk show numerous times, which led to a spinoff, The Dr. Oz Show, in 2009. That show lasted for 13 seasons, earning him an Emmy Award.

He’s also written several books, and while he stopped performing surgeries in 2018, he is still licensed as a doctor in Pennsylvania. He lost to the current Democratic Senator, John Fetterman, in that state in 2022. Fetterman claimed in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that he’d support Oz’s nomination: “If Dr. Oz is about protecting and preserving Medicare and Medicaid, I’m voting for the dude.”

Oz and Trump have a distinct bond, with Oz being on the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition in Trump’s first term.     The response on social media to the choice of Dr. Oz left many concerned. One user on X, formerly Twitter, wrote, “America is once again the laughingstock of the world.”

Others pointed to his extensive history of his ties to companies pushing false medical cures and of his push to privatize Medicare. That stance is aligned with the Republican Party’s previously expressed aims of gutting Medicare and Medicaid. More pointed out how he was promoting hydroxychloroquine as a drug to combat COVID-19 during the early days of the pandemic, which was proven false.

“CMS is a critical agency & we need serious leaders to protect Americans’ health care and bring down costs—not TV hosts whose main qualification is their loyalty to Trump,” wrote former Senator Patty Murray of Washington in a post on X.
