In this episode of ‘Billboard Unfiltered,’ Billboard staffers Carl Lamarre, Trevor Anderson and Damien Scott react to Latto’s new album ‘Sugar Honey Iced Tea,’ break down the new Killer Mike & Travis Scott feud, debate whether Snoop Dogg is the most beloved rapper of all time and more!

Damien Scott:

He thought when he went to go listen to it that it was the strongest female rap album of the year so far. I tend to agree. I think it edges out Megan.

Carl Lamarre:

Looks like we may have a new feud between, uh, Killer Mike and Travis Scott. I did not have that-

Trevor Anderson:

On the cards? Nah.

Damien Scott:

He’s the most beloved living rapper right now.

Trevor Anderson:

And who was, who was before him? I mean, d*mn, it got quiet.

Damien Scott:

Yeah.

Carl Lamarre:

And gentlemen…

Damien Scott:

Looks good.

Carl Lamarre:

What it do?

Damien Scott:

What up? What up? What up?

Carl Lamarre:

Miss Latto, who put out her new album ‘Sugar Honey Iced Tea’ on Friday.

Damien Scott:

Amazing.

Carl Lamarre:

Fire features. Megan Thee Stallion, Teezo Touchdown. Um, freaking, what’s like 21’s cousin’s name? Bugging.

Trevor Anderson:

22.

Damien Scott:

Young Nudy.

Carl Lamarre:

No.

Trevor Anderson:

That’s his cousin?

Damien Scott:

Yeah.

Trevor Anderson:

Oh yeah, it is.

Damien Scott:

Yeah. Is he also British?

Carl Lamarre:

I don’t know. I thought  21 was born there. Wait, you think Nudy was born there too?

Damien Scott:

I’m just asking.

Trevor Anderson:

No, I think he’s American. OK, so I’m a-

Carl Lammare:

American?

Trevor Anderson:

Right? I’m showing my Olympic spirit, you know, apparently, like we go, we claiming it.

Carl Lamarre

Album dropped, Coco Jones, also, Ciara, um, very Atlanta, pretty stacked, yeah, um, let’s talk about the album. Because a lot of anticipation for it, I feel like she delivered, you know, we’ll get y’all thoughts first, and then I’ll dive in. Mr. Dame?

Damien Scott:

I think it is great.

Leila Cobo:

Elmer Figueroa Chayanne Chancito

Chayanne:

A.K.A. Chanchito.

I am going to start calling you Chancito from now on.

Whatever you want. People who loved me so much called me Chancito, my mom, my grandmother.

When you are feeling bad, do you talk to yourself and say: Chancito, you can do it?

Chancito, you can do it. Also Chancito, you know that we use the diminutive when we are small children. So, like Chayanne, what we were talking about before, it comes from mom. This is not a name created for music. So, since I was a little boy I was Chancito and so was my grandmother, that diminutive of love for the little boy. And it’s a good thing that later the “ito” went away and Chayanne stayed. Chancito, Chancito.

But I like it.

No I’m kidding, too.

Three, three.

Yes, three. Three syllables.

Chancito, Chayanne, Chayancito. Chayancito, no.

It’s better double: A-A.

Yes, Chayanne.

Imagine that in the show, so beautiful to hear when you are there, you feel the love that they are giving you.

Yes, and it still moves you? Then, you are backstage, you haven’t come out and the lights go down, then everybody starts screaming and you hear them say Chayanne, Chayanne.

Leila, it is amazing, because it has been many years, I remember staying at the hotel and suddenly from the street they would start screaming and you were in the room and you would come out, you could go out in your bathrobe or you could go out…

I’ve only seen you in Cali.

You’ve only seen me in Cali, and I am from Cali, and I always go back in holidays. But, you know, that’s why I-

Only holidays?

Pues, I know I should go more often.

Yeah, you gotta go more.

Pero hey, yo, let’s talk about your new album, ‘PERO NO TE ENAMORES,’ honestly, dope. I am amazed at the sonic transitions that you’ve done. Pero antes de hablar about the new sounds, let’s talk about the title, ‘PERO NO TE ENAMORES.’

That’s just the vibe right now, I’ve said in a couple interviews already, it’s just a little bit of everything. If you think about the name ‘PERO NO TE ENAMORES,’ that’s what it is.

Okay, okay.

Like in general,

Okay, okay.

All around.

Yeah, that’s the vibe right now. I was also pretty, like, taken aback about, like, how you were able to fuse these two styles, you know, Jersey Club and corridos. You coined Jersey Corridos. How did that mix come together first of all?

Before I answer your question, let me ask you a question. If you’ve been here for 10 years, do you like Jersey?

HipHopWired Featured Video

It’s been a few months since Gunna dropped his latest album One of Wun and though the Hip-Hop community is still split on whether to support him due to the details of his release from prison, the man is continuing on with his career and shows no signs of letting up.

Dropping off some new visuals to “today I did good,” Gunna gives viewers a day in his life through his point of view as we’re able to walk a mile in his shoes as he eats breakfast (them scrambled eggs look dry, b), throws on his jewelry, and even plays soccer with some young kids on a field. That man really living his best life regardless of how people might feel about him and we ain’t mad.

Quavo meanwhile looks to get some rock fans on his team and for the clip to “Fly,” he and Lenny Kravitz rock out as Q gives his own iteration to the classic Kravitz cut “Fly Away.” Can’t say we saw this one coming.
Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from T-Pain, Polo G, and more.
