San Antonio officer James Brennand has been fired after body camera footage showed that he shot and injured 17-year-old Erik Cantu while he was inside a vehicle eating a burger in the parking lot of a McDonald’s.

According to NBC News, the police department announced that Brennand was fired after leaving Cantu hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds. As of Friday morning, Cantu’s condition remained unknown. Police shared that Brennand arrived at the fast food restaurant on Blanco Road around 10:45 p.m. Sunday for an unrelated disturbance call.

Capt. Alyssa Campos, the department’s training commander, said,

“As the officer attempted to gather information from witnesses, he noticed a vehicle that had evaded him the day before as the officer attempted a stop because the registered license plate did not match the actual vehicle.”

She continued to explain that the vehicle that Cantu had driven that night, had nothing to do with the disturbance call that Brennand had responded to.

Brennand reportedly believed the car Cantu had been driving was stolen and called for backup. However, he approached the vehicle before his backup arrived. In the body camera footage, Brennand can be seen opening the driver’s side door, as Cantu ate a burger. He then ordered Cantu to get out of the car. As the car is put into reverse, Brennand fires several rounds into the car as it drives off.

NBC News reports there was a 17-year-old female passenger in the car with Cantu. The car was found a block away from the scene, the passenger did not suffer any injuries.

According to CNN, Cantu was charged with evading detention in a vehicle and assaulting the officer, as the officer claimed that he was hit by the same door he forcibly opened before Cantu put the car in reverse. However, Cantu’s defense attorney, Brian Powers shared that the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office announced on Friday that prosecutors would not be moving forward with charges against Cantu.

Brennand was still in his probationary period, which is a requirement for officers who graduated from the police academy less than a year ago. He had been in the force for seven months prior to his termination. It has not been announced if he would be charged with a crime.

This incident is still under investigation.

Not only did she win her first award, but her performance of her songs “Tomorrow,” and “F.N.F (Let’s Go)” at the show marked her first official award show performance.

According to TMZ Sports, Mr. Put It On–better known as–Antonio Brown is being sued for allegedly selling someone a fake Richard Mille watch for $150,000.

Docs obtained by the site, the watch was purchased by Ryan Kane in July and is worth $400,000.

In the suit, obtained by TMZ Sports, Kane says Brown assured him the watch — allegedly an RM 011 model — was real … and said it had a value “in excess of $400,000.

After the purchase, Kane took the watch to an appraiser and found out the watch was fake.

Kane says in the suit that he took it to a watch appraiser to have it authenticated and appraised for insurance purposes — but claims the guy delivered him some bad news while he was there … it was worth only a couple hundred bucks.

Kane stated he found out Brown bought three other fake watches in Dubai for less than $500 each, TMZ Sports reports.

The free agent was also in headlines last week after a video of the football player in a pool showing his manhood surfaced.

Early Saturday, Antonio Brown quickly began to trend after a video showed that he was bottomless while in a hotel pool. In the video, he could be seen sticking his rear end in a woman’s face, and shortly after, he exposed his manhood as well.

The Post reports that a hotel staffer who requested anonymity said that they had received complaints about AB and his behavior, and shortly after the incident in the pool, he was asked to leave. Some of the complaints made about him also included guests alleging that he ignored the United Arab Emirates dress code customs by showing off his bare chest to guests inside the hotel. It was also believed that the smell of marijuana came from his room, which is against the UAE’s law.

ABC News reports that Uvalde School District suspended the entire police staff months after the deadly school shooting left 19 children and two teachers dead.

The District has made the decision to suspend all activities of the Uvalde CISD Police Department for a period of time. Officers currently employed will fill other roles in the district,” the district said in a statement.

Lt. Miguel Hernandez and Ken Muellerwere placed on leave, but Mueller chose to retire an hour after the official announcement.

The District has requested the Texas Department of Public Safety to provide additional troopers for campus and extra-curricular activities. We are confident that staff and student safety will not be compromised during this transition.

According to CNN, “recent developments” that “uncovered additional concerns with department operations” is why the school district made the decision. But no specifics were listed in the annoucement.

Uvalde Parents Sue Gun Manufacturer & School District

Parents of survivors at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX filed a federal lawsuit against the school district and city, the gun manufacturer, and a host of other entities last week.

The lawsuit states the gun manufacturer used by the 18-year-old who killed 19 students and 2 teachers employed “aggressive” marketing tactics.

Daniel Defense chooses not to do any studies evaluating the effects of their marketing strategies on the health and well-being of Americans and chose not to look at the cost to families and communities like Uvalde, Texas.

In the suit, it alleges the manufacturer for the door, Schneider Electric, “failed to lock as designed after being shut.”

The group is suing for punitive damages and other relief.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and its organizer Goldenvoice are suing a Ghanaian music festival named Afrochella for alleged trademark infringement, according to court documents obtained by Pitchfork.

In a lawsuit filed in a California federal court on Wednesday, Coachella and Goldenvoice claimed that Afrochella is:

“Intentionally trading on the goodwill of [Coachella and Goldenvoice’s] well-known COACHELLA and CHELLA festivals and trademarks by actively promoting music events in the United States and in Ghana using the confusingly similar mark ‘AFROCHELLA’ and by fraudulently attempting to register Plaintiffs’ actual trademarks as their own.”

Coachella and its organizers added that those behind Afrochella have “refused to adopt their own distinctive event name… despite repeated requested from the Plaintiffs.”

“Despite repeated requests from Plaintiffs, Defendants have refused to adopt their own distinctive event name and marks, and as a result, instances of actual confusion have already appeared on social media.”

Coachella reportedly first warned Afrochella of the trademark infringement back in 2016, according to the 30-page lawsuit. Event organizers included a screenshot of one of the Afrochella promoters describing the concert as a “Coachella-themed event.”

Second Trademark Infringement Lawsuit Filed By Coachella Festival Organizers Since Last Year

Representatives for Coachella and Goldenvoice as well as representatives for Afrochella did not immediately return Pitchfork’s request for comment.

Last year, Coachella and Goldenvoice had filed a similar lawsuit against Live Nation Entertainment for contributory trademark infringement, the outlet reports.

That complaint was in relation to an event organized and promoted by the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Missing Indians called Coachella Day One 22.

In that case, Live Nation Entertainment was sued for selling tickets to the event, thereby infringing on Coachella’s trademarks.

That lawsuit was settled earlier this year.

In one video, the 41-year-old filmed himself on some kind of elevated surface as he zoomed in on a bright full moon, Page Six reports.

In a Daily Mail report, Udoka’s mystery mistress is identified as 34-year-old Kathleen Nimmo Lynch. The outlet reports that Lynch is a devout Mormon. She is also a married mother of three who serves as the Celtics’ team service manager.

On September 22nd, The Boston Celtics issued a news release revealing that Head Coach Udoka would be suspended for the entire 2022-2023 NBA season after his cheating scandal with a female staff member was brought to light. The franchise stated that Udoka violated team policies.

The Biden administration has purchased $290 million worth of anti-radiation drugs this week amidst warmongering Russian head of state Vladimir Putin, who the president said “was not joking” in his threats for nuclear “Armageddon.”

The Department of Health and Human Services confirmed that the major supply of the drug Nplate was part of “ongoing efforts to be better prepared to save lives following radiological and nuclear emergencies.”

The capsules can be used on kids as well as adults, and is “approved to treat blood cell injuries that accompany acute radiation syndrome [ARS] in adult and pediatric patients,” the department said in Tuesday’s announcement.

Radiation sickness “occurs when a person’s entire body is exposed to a high dose of penetrating radiation, reaching internal organs in a matter of seconds,” the alarming HHS release noted.

“Symptoms of ARS injuries include impaired blood clotting as a result of low platelet counts, which can lead to uncontrolled and life-threatening bleeding.”

Nplate, classified as a bone marrow stimulant, works by stimulating the body’s production of platelets “to reduce radiation-induced bleeding.” It may take up to four weeks before Nplate is completely effective in preventing bleeding episodes, according to the drugmaker.

The $290 million in funding for the capsules is a result of Project BioShield – a 2004 law that saw widespread government investment in companies “developing the medical countermeasures that our critical to our national security,” the New York Post reports.

Despite the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and fears of a nuclear threat from Russia, an HHS spokesperson said the move the investment was part of an “ongoing” nuclear prep and that it had “not been accelerated by the situation in Ukraine.”

But the announcement was approved just days before President Biden publicly stated that Putin was “not joking when he talks about the use of tactical nuclear weapons or biological or chemical weapons.”

“We have not faced the prospect of Armageddon since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis,” the president warned during a New York fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Putin’s nuclear threats have kept the world on edge for the last several months as he finds himself continued to be mired in a losing war effort in Ukraine.
