The “Welfare Queen,” retired NFL player Brett Favre has broken his silence and is setting the facts straight regarding the $5 million scandal impacting the state of Mississippi. In a recent statement from Fox News, the former baller claims he has been “unjustly smeared in the media.”

“I have done nothing wrong, and it is past time to set the record straight,” he said. “No one ever told me, and I did not know, that funds designated for welfare recipients were going to the University or me. I tried to help my alma mater USM, a public Mississippi state university, raise funds for a wellness center. My goal was and always will be to improve the athletic facilities at my university.”

Brett continued to explain, “State agencies provided the funds to Nancy New’s charity, the Mississippi Community Education Center, which then gave the funds to the University, all with the full knowledge and approval of other State agencies, including the State-wide Institute for Higher Learning, the Governor’s office, and the Attorney General’s office. “In addition, he claimed, he was told that the legal work to ensure that these funds could be accepted by the university was done by State attorneys and State employees.

Although it may seem like Brett is the only one targeted in this drama, he’s not. The report states that the state of Mississippi is suing 38 people or companies to claw back $24 million of the $77 million in federal welfare money. As we previously reported, Brett and others allegedly funneled money to a new volleyball wellness center at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM). The $5 million was procured by MCEC via a Block Grant from the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS) in October 2017.

CNN also reports that former Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant is also facing legal troubles. He has been subpoenaed again amid an ongoing civil suit in the welfare fraud scandal, as this time, attorneys want to see communications between the ex-governor and former NFL and Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre.

Former NBA player Ben Gordon was arrested at LaGuardia airport in New York City on Monday for reportedly striking his 10-year-old son, sources tell the New York Post.

The 39-year-old one-time “Sixth Man of the Year” was waiting for a flight to Chicago when Port Authority cops allegedly barred him from entering the plane and arrested him at 8:45 p.m., according to the Post.

His son, who was not publicly named due to his age, was brought by his aunt to Long Island Jewish Children’s Hospital for evaluation.

The former shooting guard, who played previously for the likes of the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons before leaving the NBA in 2015, was booked and processed at the Port Authorities police station house.

Charges against him are still pending, and details about his arrest and son’s condition remained unknown as of Tuesday.

The Post, citing police sources, reported that two Port Authorities officers received minor injuries during the arrest, however it was not immediately clear as to how they  were injured.

This is hardly the first brush with the law for Gordon, who’s been arrested several times in the last few years.

In 2017, Gordon was arrested for assault and robbery. That same year, he was also charged with driving with a forged license plate in Harlem. He was also charged with setting off fire alarms inside his Los Angeles home in another arrest, despite the fact that there was no fire, the Post reported.

A British-born American who holds dual-citizenship, Gordon went to Mount Vernon High School in Westchester County, just north of New York City, before starring at UConn and winning a national championship back in 2004.

Gordon has been very candid over the years with his mental health issues.

In 2020, he opened up about his struggles in a chilling first-person account in The Players’ Tribune, writing that he even contemplated suicide at times.

“I would be up on the roof of my apartment building at four o’ clock in the morning, just pacing to the edge of the ledge, looking over — pacing back and forth, back and forth — just thinking, I’m really about to do it, B,” Gordon wrote.

Gordon went on to write that his panic attacks got so bad one night, that “all I could think about was escape.”

“I’m about to escape from all this s–t. I was obsessed with killing myself. It’s all I researched, all I thought about. One night my panic attacks got so bad that all I could think about was escape. … You become like an animal. It’s instinctive.”

A Mississippi community is outraged after 15-year-old Jaheim McMillan died after being shot by Gulfport Police Department.

According to court documents obtained by WLOX, Jaheim McMillan and four other teens were approached by a police officer on Thursday, October 6th, after a call came in and stated a Kia Soul was driving recklessly, rolled down their window, and was “flipping them off.”

The documents also state that “the caller and his passenger said they saw the right rear passenger in the Kia Soul brandished a firearm” at a red light and also put on a “camouflage ski mask” and pointed a gun at them. Eventually, the caller was able to lose the Kia Soul.

Shortly after, police spotted a Kia Soul that matched the description made by the caller in the parking lot of a Family Dollar.

According to police, an officer approached an “armed” suspect, McMillan, which led to shots fired by the officer. McMillan was shot in the head and rushed to Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Eyewitness Gives Alleged Account Of What Happened

An eyewitness account of the incident contradicts police reports. A woman by the name of Deborah Stout was recorded saying she did not see McMillan with a gun and his hands were up when he was shot.

I saw the cop shoot the guy. I did not see a gun on him, she stated. He was coming out of the store with his hands up. I had just pulled in, and I saw what happened.

Mary Spivery, mother to Kyion Bell and one of the teens in the car with McMillan, stated her son told her that McMillan did not have a gun.

I said, ‘So why did they say Jaheim had a gun?’ Spivery said. He was like, ‘Mama, Jaheim did not have a gun.

The call ended shortly after.

The four friends with McMillan were arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and a bond of $500,000. It’s also reported that guns were confiscated as well.

The YouTuber had much to say and stood by his word that he needed to go to jail. “You think we’re supposed to respect your disrespectful child who doesn’t know how to shh. So I’m supposed to show this n***a compassion when he’s saying he will hurt me, No. I’m just like the police. I’m in fear for my life, and I wanna go home to my family.” He added, “You better teach these babies you love them. We don’t. You let them disrespect you. We don’t.”

Charleston took it to another level, saying God doesn’t have a heart for disrespectful, disobedient children. Seemingly referring to Deuteronomy 5:16, which states, “Honor thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee,” Charleston put his spin on things. He declared that children like King would have their days “shortened and numbered.”

Throughout the live several viewers pointed out that T.I. was requesting to join. The rapper was also live on his Instagram account. However, Charleston declined to let him appear. The controversial YouTuber said they had nothing to discuss until the rapper spoke with his son. Although the drama died down, Charleston still had some tricks up his sleeve. He revealed screenshots of King threatening him.

Whew! The drama between YouTuber Charleston White, T.I., and King Harris is gettin’ thick! Charleston hopped on Instagram live to say that he tagged the Atlanta Police Dept & Fulton County prosecutor Fani Willis to alert them about a video where King threatened him. “I want to put his (T.I.’s) son in jail,” Charleston said.

In the recent video, before King threatened the Texas native, he called him a b***h. “Man, we are about to whoop your a*s when you come back here. I can see you had a soft upbringing,” he said. The drama doesn’t end there. T.I. also came to his son’s defense calling Charleston out. He told the YouTuber to speak to him directly.

“I ain’t on no gangsta s**t. I’m a father, I’m a businessman, and I’m a leader. So ultimately, if you have something to say about me and mine, come to me. Whatever you have to say about me, come to me,” T.I. said. He added, “Keep my mutha*****g children’s names out your mutha*****g mouth before something bad happens.” The King of the south made it clear that he wasn’t threatening Charleston but was firm that people don’t play about their kids. “People will die about their children, and people are willing to go to prison about their children. Stop. That’s a suggestion. Please stop.”

Charleston has been on a roll talking about King following his recent arrest in September. If you recall, he was arrested and hit with four charges during a traffic stop. Recently Charleston also spoke negatively about Boosie’s son Tootie Raww. He talked about King’s arrest and appearance in the same breath, which prompted the drama. T.I. stepped into The Shade Room and said that he attempted to speak to Charleston, and it didn’t happen.

Earlier news broke that Nene Leakes’ son Brentt Leakes, unfortunately, suffered a heart attack and stroke at the age of 23-years-old. It was shared that he has since left the hospital and is now in rehab as he recovers.

After the unfortunate news began to make its rounds, Nene took to her Instagram story to thank everyone for their prayers, as well as share a few details about what happened, and also how Brentt is currently doing.

While sitting in her car, Nene said,

“Two weeks ago today, Brentt had congestive heart failure and a stroke. He’s only 23, so he’s really young for something like that to happen to him. The first thing a lot of doctors think of when someone that age comes in with that kind of condition is maybe they have done drugs or maybe have some serious infection, maybe HIV or some sort of infection is what I’m being told by the doctors.”

Nene acknowledged that Brentt doesn’t drink or do drugs, and said that doctors tested him for those things as well as HIV. She shared that doctors also thought COVID-19 may have been the cause of his condition, but she nor Brentt do not recall him contracting the virus. However, doctors are not quite sure what the cause could have been.

Nene also addressed her lounge, which she also owns with her son Brentt. She shared that there is a possibility that they may sell the lounge.

The lounge was a business venture she entered with Brentt, her late husband Gregg, and some of her friends. Running the lounge is a responsibility Brentt took on, but following his health scare, he isn’t able to do so at the moment. As previously reported, TMZ shared that Brentt was rushed to a local hospital in the Atlanta area earlier this month to receive treatment for both his heart attack and stroke. He was hospitalized for several days before entering rehab for recovery.

As many of you know, Brentt is Nene’s son with her late husband Gregg Leakes. Gregg, unfortunately, passed away last August following a battle with cancer.

It looks like Mel B is getting what she really wants when it comes to child support payments from Eddie Murphy.

According to Daily Mail, court documents reportedly show that after two years, Eddie Murphy has agreed to pay Mel B $35,000 in monthly child support payments for their daughter Angel. The site reports that two years ago, Mel B filed documents requesting more financial assistance from Eddie as she cited that there was a change in her income.

Previously, Eddie had been paying $25,000 a month, which is about $300,00 a year, after their paternity case was settled back in 2009.

Now Eddie, who has been identified as an “extraordinarily high earner,” in the documents, will pay an additional $10,000 per month. Aside from that Eddie, also agreed to pay Mel B’s attorney fees of $10,000.

Daily Mail notes that the documents state, Mel B will be responsible for “add-on” costs, which could include health care, extracurricular activities, and educational expenses.

Mel B gave birth to her and Eddie’s daughter back in April 2007, and by June 2007, a DNA test confirmed Eddie’s paternity.

In her 2018 memoir “Brutally Honest,” Mel B opened up about the romance she and Eddie previously shared, and she also talked about what went on when he first denied their child before the DNA test proved his paternity.

Another generation of the James family is headed to Nike! On Monday (October 10), the footwear company announced five student-athletes they signed. The list includes Caitlin Clark, Haley Jones, DJ Wagner, Juju Watkins, and Bronny James.

According to Complex, the eldest son of basketball champion Lebron James signed a NIL (name-image-likeness) deal.

“For as long as I can remember, Nike’s been a part of my family,” Bronny said. “Getting a chance to team up with them and continue my family’s legacy both on the court and in the community is wild—it really means a lot to me.”

Bronny Follows In His Father’s Footsteps

And Bronny is right. Nike has been in his family since 2003, when his father first signed a $90 million with them. Then, the four-time NBA champion inked a lifetime deal in 2015. The deal was rumored to be worth about $1 billion.

LeBron’s business partner and close friend Maverick Carter fed those talks in 2016 during a GQ interview. At the time, Maverick motioned upwards when asked about the worth of LeBron’s lifetime deal. He was a key player in negotiating the contract.

“Yeah. It’s a fantastic deal. Nike feels great about the deal. That’s the most important thing. As great as I feel, as great as LeBron feels–Nike feels fantastic about it. It’s the largest deal in the history of the company,” Maverick said. Their hope is he makes even more. And our hope is that, too, obviously.”

Bronny’s Contract Amount Is Unclear 

Like his father, Bronny joined Nike before touching a contract or court for the NBA. He’s currently in his senior year at Sierra Canyon High School. Also, like daddy dearest, the amount of coins the star player will be cashing in is still on the hush.

LeBron hasn’t said much online about his son’s deal. But he did re-post a couple of posts covering the news to his Instagram Story. He also shared an ad-like Nike video to his profile featuring Bronny!

The news also comes days after the younging welcomed his 18th birthday on October 6. Over the weekend, he celebrated alongside his parents, friends, and entertainers like Travis Scott! Congrats Bronny!
