Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand has tapped into ’80s, ’90s and millennial-era nostalgia, teaming with buzzy artists, athletes and actors for its campaigns in addition to collaborations with the WNBA, NBA and Team USA.
But it’s not just star power. Social media can make or break a brand, and sites like TikTok and Instagram have been good to SKIMS. The brand is known for its viral dresses, bodysuits, tank tops, leggings, bras and T-shirts ranging from sizes XXS-4X.
As Kim Kardashian explained in an interview last year, SKIMS was created out of personal necessity. “It started off with simply finding shapewear that was a skin tone that would match my color. I used to take my shapewear and dye it with tea bags and coffee in the bathtub.”
Founded in 2019, Kardashian’s size-inclusive brand has expanded from slinky shapewear and underwear into loungewear, lingerie and even menswear. “The expansion into the menswear space is a major milestone for the brand, and a testament to SKIMS’ commitment to providing solutions for everybody,” the reality star said in a 2023 press release announcing the menswear line, which Usher modeled earlier this year.
What’s next for SKIMS? The brand unveiled a Team USA collection ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics and will unveil its Summer Uniform Collection, on Wednesday, July 24, at noon ET.
In the meantime, see below for a roundup of 10 music stars who have stripped down for SKIMS.

Usher’s SKIMS campaign was released in February. “The idea started with the photo that is my album [cover], where I have the peach in my hand. We shot the reverse of that photo, which was the first shot that was released, and therefore, after, as I do support Kim, supporting SKIMS was the next step,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “It really was in conjunction with the album.”

Cardi B collaborated with SKIMS in 2023. “The SKIMS team approached me about it, and I just thought it was funny because of all the money I’ve spent on SKIMS…I love SKIMS a lot,” the Bronx rapper said.

Jhené Aiko debuted in SKIMS’ Cotton Collection campaign this past June. Her favorite piece from the collection? The Cotton Rib Tank and Cotton Jersey Boy Short made her feel “the most comfy,” the singer told Nylon. “I feel my best when I’m wearing clothes that feel comfortable. T-shirts are a big staple in my day-to-day wardrobe, and I love that with SKIMS I can feel sexy while still staying comfortable.”

Lana Del Rey starred in SKIMS Valentine’s Day Campaign released in February. “It started as kind of a niche brand, and I feel like it’s grown into a thing where now my sister and my best friend, Margaret, are wearing it. All of a sudden you’re like, ‘Oh, you’re wearing SKIMS too,’ and you show up in the same outfit as you’re getting a coffee. It’s really kind of sweet,” Del Rey told Vogue.

Rosalía starred in SKIMS’ first-ever bilingual campaign. “I love SKIMS,” she said of the brand. “They are so comfy and make me feel very sexy at the same time. I’m so excited that I finally got the chance to collaborate, especially in their Cotton Collection which is my fave.”

Snoop Dogg and his family posed for SKIMS’ 2022 holiday campaign. “I feel so blessed that three generations of my family were able to come together for the SKIMS holiday campaign! It’s the first time we’ve been featured in a campaign all together and we all loved the super soft, comfy outfits,” Snoop said at the time.

Ice Spice appeared in a 2023 SKIMS campaign along with PinkPantheress, Raye and Nessa Barrett. “SKIMS just gets it and makes me feel extra snatched,” said Ice Spice. “I’m happy to be a part of the latest campaign.”

SZA struck a pose for SKIMS’ Fit Everybody campaign released in March 2023. “I’m excited to be in SKIMS’ latest Fits Everybody underwear campaign and to align myself with a brand that strives to make women feel both comfortable and sexy.”

Nelly Furtado made her SKIMS debut last year. “Styling all of my SKIMS looks was so fun, and my favorite piece was the SKIMS Sculpting Mid Thigh Bodsuit,” she said at the time. “The fabric is amazing and feels so good and secure on my body. It makes me feel excited about getting dressed, and I love working it into my wardrobe for both work and play.”

Sabrina Carpenter’s SKIMS’ campaign featured pieces from the Stretch Lace and Fit Everybody collection. “I loved the femininity of the whole creative. I feel very excited SKIMS chose me to be the face of this campaign as I’ve always been a fan of the brand,” Carpenter said in a statement earlier this year.

Sabrina Carpenter’s stunning campaign photos for SKIMS have gotten the stamp of approval from her rumored boyfriend, Barry Keoghan. On Monday (April 1), the “Nonsense” singer took to Instagram to share the sultry snaps, in which she’s seen rocking various lingerie and loungewear pieces from Kim Kardashian’s popular company. “hellooo it’s sabrina your spring @skims […]

Ahead of Sabrina Carpenter making her Coachella debut this month, the “Nonsense” singer is taking the spotlight for a new SKIMS underwear campaign. Carpenter was more than happy to join the growing list of musicians who’ve starred in the lifestyle brand’s campaigns including Usher, Lana Del Rey (who had a Valentine’s Day collection) and Nelly Furtado (who offered personal picks).

“I loved the femininity of the whole creative,” she said in a press statement. “I feel very excited SKIMS chose me to be the face of this campaign as I’ve always been a fan of the brand.”

As a longtime fan of the lingerie brand, she also noted which pieces were her most favorite.

“I love both collections, especially the delicacy of the Stretch Lace and the second-skin feel of Fits Everybody,” she said. “Every piece I wore was super flattering and so comfortable, which of course is always a given with SKIMS!”

The campaign video features nods to the ’90s as Carpenter poses in various pieces from the lingerie collection in a room filled with posters and stacks of CDs evoking some major nostalgia.

Nelly Furtado is showing off “All Good Things” to stock up on in the latest SKIMS campaign. Featuring looks that spotlight the most loved, bestselling and viral styles of the brand to date, the campaign officially launched on Monday (Oct. 2) and also showcases pieces chosen and styled by Furtado herself — which means they’re not only trendy, but celebrity-approved.

It was more than about playing dress up for the 44-year-old, though. She’s also a fan of how comfortable and easy the pieces are to incorporate into practically any look.

“Styling all of my SKIMS looks was so fun, and my favorite piece was the SKIMS Sculpting Mid Thigh Bodysuit,” said Furtado in a press statement. “The fabric is amazing and feels so good and secure on my body. It makes me feel excited about getting dressed, and I love working it into my wardrobe for both work and play.””

In case you needed an excuse to add even more of the chic-yet-comfortable leggings and shapewear to your rotation, SKIMS also tapped the shoulders of other stars they consider “renowned women across entertainment,” including Kim Cattrall, Lana Condor, Coco Jones and Hari Nef, who also showed off their favorite Skims pieces.

There’s practically no such thing as owning too many bras, and after trying Furtado’s pick, you may never go back to just any style. The SKIMS T-Shirt Bra is with a full-coverage style that can even adapt to those in-between sizes thanks to its stretchy material. The neckline has also been modernized with zero stitching to allow it to lie flatter.

Skims

You can enjoy full coverage without worrying about any dig marks left behind in a pair of these SKIMS briefs. The high-rise waist helps to smooth your body while the stretchy material aims to adapt to your unique body. It’s also seamless to prevent any panty lines!

Skims

Layer up in a pair of sheer sculpting tights that come in a range of nude colors or, if you want something more dressy, grab a pair in black. The material is made with full support that’ll aim to sit on your hips — in other words, reduce the need to constantly pull up your tights. Plus, you can layer them under pants, skirts, dresses and more.

Skims

In need of a pair of shapewear? Furtado prefers this mid-thigh style and it’s easy to see why. Not only does it come 10 shades to choose from, but it’s made with strong compression that targets the stomach, waist and legs. As an added bonus, the material has butt-lifting pockets in the back to help create a more lifted appearance.

The brand also took to Instagram to share the full campaign video, which you can see below.

Back in March, a series of TikToks showcasing North West‘s love for “Munch” rapper Ice Spice took over the Internet.
There were clips of North and her friends dancing to Ice Spice’s “In Ha Mood,” which peaked at No. 58 on the Billboard Hot 100, and videos of her cosplaying as the Bronx rapper and lip-syncing to her verse on the No. 3-peaking “Boy’s a Liar, Pt. 2” (with PinkPantheress). Those videos have since been removed from North’s official social media pages, however, prompting endless online discussion about the parenting decisions of her parents, Kim Kardashian and Kanye “Ye” West.

In an interview with Time magazine celebrating SKIMS’ inclusion on the publication’s 100 Most Influential Companies of 2023 list, Kardashian revealed why she made her daughter take down those Ice Spice TikToks.

The Kardashians star first encountered Ice Spice and her music through North. “I didn’t know who that was at the time, and I was like, ‘This is the moment where I feel really old, where my daughter is now teaching me what’s cool.’” The low-stakes Ice Spice listening sessions soon turned into Kardashian tapping the “Bikini Bottom” rapper to appear in a SKIMS campaign. “That all came through North and what she liked,” Kardashian added.

Somewhere between bumping Ice Spice’s music and having her appear in a SKIMS campaign, North actually got to make TikToks with Ice Spice herself. “[North] said, ‘Mommy, can I post this?’ I was out of town and my nanny was there and allowed it. As soon as I saw the words and everything, I was like ‘Oh, no, no. We’re taking this down,’” the mom of four said. “She totally understood, so I think that’s the trial and error sometimes.”

The media mogul also touched on her ex-husband’s role in all of this. “I saw on the Internet, ‘Kanye was right!’ And maybe he was, in that instance,” she said, “but in the creative side where she loves making slime videos and doing her little hair tutorials, I will fight for her to be creative in those ways.”

While the “I Wanna Love You Forever” singer looks glowing and confident in her new Instagram post, she’s been open for years about her struggles with body image, especially when it comes to body shamers online.

In April 2021, the star’s mom, Tina Simpson, appeared on TODAY, where she discussed the hardest part about her daughter living in the spotlight. “I have to be honest: To me, the hardest thing with Jessica has been the weight. Because the way people judge her, it’s unbelievable. Body shaming is a terrible thing, and no girl should have to go through that — or guy. Period,” she told TODAY‘s Sheinelle Jones. “Because of that, it catapulted all kinds of different emotions and different things in her life, too, you know? And then it made her want to be a recluse, in a lot of ways, and to hide out and not want to get our of her house.”
