Anyone who has seen Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV—a documentary chronicling the abusive, exploitive and egregiously dangerous conditions under which employees and child actors at Nickelodeon worked under the leadership of showrunner Dan Schneider—knows that during a period that began in the late ’90s, Nickelodeon Studios was portrayed as a cesspool of abusive behavior, sexism, child endangerment and child sexualization that allowed multiple convicted pedophiles run wild on and off set.
To say the absolute least, the docuseries served as a cautionary tale to any parents who are thinking of introducing their children to the world of child acting.
Well, accomplished actor and comedian Kenan Thompson, who started in ’90s Nick shows All That and Kenan & Kel, doesn’t appear to think the investigations into what went on at Nickelonean have gone far enough, and he believes authorities should “investigate more” in order to ensure the kids we watch on TV are being kept safe behind the scenes.
“It’s tough. It’s a tough subject, you know?” the Saturday Night Live cast member said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “It’s tough for me because I can’t really speak on things that I never witnessed, you know what I’m saying? Because all these things happened after I left, basically.”
In the Docuseries, Schneider is accused of deplorable and abusive behavior towards the people who worked under him, especially the female writers, two of whom he’s accused of illegally making share a single-employee salary, and child actors who starred in shows he ran, and whom he was accused portraying in sexually suggestive ways—and somehow, his offenses weren’t nearly the most horrific.
“Dan wasn’t really on Kenan & Kel like that,” Thomsaon explained while distancing himself from the disgraced producer. “I mean, he got a ‘created by’ credit, but it was a different showrunner, so our worlds wasn’t really overly overlapping like that outside of All That, necessarily. And then all of that negativity kinda started happening outside of our tenure there, you know what I mean? So I wasn’t really aware of a lot of it.”
But regardless of whether or not Thompson was around when Nick Studios ironically proved to be the last place one would want to leave their child unattended, the Good Burger actor said he supports the victims and wants to see more investigating done to ensure their aren’t more out there whose stories have gone ignored.

Thompson, who was 15 when All That premiered, also extended sympathy to his fellow former Nickelodeon stars who discussed the toxic work environment they endured in Quiet on Set. “My heart goes out to anybody that’s been victimized, or their families,” he said. “I think it’s a good thing that the doc is out and it’s putting things on display, stories that need to be told for accountability’s sake. But it’s definitely tough to watch because I have fond memories of that place and I have fond memories of my costars and stuff like that. So to hear that they’ve gone through terrible things like that is really tough.”
Later in the interview, Thompson reiterated his support for the doc. “Investigate more,” he said. “It’s supposed to be a safe place for kids. And to hear all about that is just like, ‘How dare you?’”

OK, here’s a new rule for our non-melanated friends: Either practice good hygiene or, for the love of God, stop telling Black people about your bathing habits—or lack thereof.
Comedian and SNL veteran Kenan Thompson recently made an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote his new memoir and humorous advice book, When I Was Your Age. There’s a part of the book where the All That actor gives very basic “shower advice.” It appears to be really standard advice that would never occur to most Black people to give because—duh.
For example, Thompson doesn’t advise that people brush their teeth while taking a shower because, as he told Clarkson, it’s “gross.” Now, obviously, there is absolutely no reason anyone should have to explain to an adult that while they’re washing the dirt and grime out of their hair and off their faces, they probably shouldn’t be sticking a toothbrush drenched in the same water trickling down from their scalps into their mouths, which they’re supposedly trying to clean.
But Kelly Clarkson appeared to take issue with Thompson’s practical advice to avoid flagrant nastiness.
“Here’s the thing. I don’t regularly brush my teeth in the shower. I just do if I’m in a hurry … Now, I do happen to be in a hurry often,” Clarkson told Thompson, who looked appropriately repulsed for a split second but then extended Clarkson a little grace.
“That’s fine because that’s where you’re at in the world,” Thompson responded.

Then Thompson mentioned the thing that appears to be the Kryptonite to good Caucasian bathing practices—he told people they need to wash their legs.
“Like, get all the way, don’t just leave your ankles out,” Thompson said, to which Clarkson responded by essentially confirming a white stereotype that Black people get a lot of mileage out of when the jokes start flying.
“But wait— when you’re washing up here, it does wash down,” Clarkson said.
It’s slowly becoming one of life’s great mysteries why so many white people have it in their heads that washing one’s upper body and letting the soap and water trickle down to the lower body constitutes a full body wash. You’re literally (or hopefully) SCRUBBING the top part of your body, but you don’t think you need to do the same for the rest, why? (Actually, another stereotype implies white people don’t use wash cloths, and if that’s true, then it’s very possible they’re not sufficiently scrubbing any parts of their bodies in the shower.)
“I guess I shave my legs almost every day in the shower,” Clarkson said. “So I’m kind of [washing my legs] anyway.”
Again, this is why some people should just stop telling us things. We just don’t need to know.

Ed and Dexter are back, whether you care or not. The latest trailer for Good Burger 2 has arrived and gives us a better look at the upcoming film coming to Paramount+.
In the new full trailer for Good Burger 2, Dexter (Kenan Thompson) and Ed (Kel Mitchell) have to save the fast food restaurant once again when the evil Mega Corp threatens to put Mega Good Burgers all over the country that feature robots as staff.
Word of the sequel’s existence first hit the web in March, and a teaser trailer arrived in August, and it was met with some mixed reactions.
Most criticisms revolved around the film being years too late and Kel’s “casket-ready glam” for Ed.
This new trailer not only reveals the film’s plot but also shows off the star power in it. In the trailer, we get appearances from mega-popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat, Marsai Martin, and Rob Gronkowski, along with newcomers Lil Rel Howery, Jillian Bell, Kamaia Fairburn, Alex R. Hibbert, Fabrizio Guido, Elizabeth Hinkler, and Emily Hinkler as Cindy and Mindy, and Anabel Graetz as Ruth.
Returning cast members include Josh Server, Lori Beth Denberg, and Carmen Electra.
Good Burger 2 Is Banking On Nostalgia
Even though Good Burger 2 is not coming to theaters, Paramount+ and Nickelodeon Studios are banking on nostalgia, bringing back lifelong fans of All That, the Good Burger skit, and the cult classic 2008 film that was a box office success bringing in $24 million on $8 million budget.
Paramount+ also hopes the sequel will bring in new fans, and who knows, we could get a Good Burger 3 if this film is better or as good as the first movie.
We’re happy to see Kenan and Kel working together again. Good Burger 2 arrives exclusively on Paramount+ on November 22.

The first look at the long-awaited (and possibly too late) sequel, Good Burger 2, has arrived.
Good Burger 2, the sequel to the cult classic 1997 film, is coming to Paramount+ this year, and it looks to recapture that feeling of the original movie while luring in some new fans.
As far as the plot for the sequel, the logline for the straight-to-streaming film says it “follows Dexter Reed (Kenan Thompson) and original cashier Ed (Kel Mitchell), as they reunite in the present day at fast-food restaurant Good Burger with a hilarious new group of employees.”
Good Burger 2 was finally announced in March and came after both Thompson and Mitchell said they were both open to bringing back the beloved characters for another film. Per Variety, joining Kenan and Kel in the new film will be “Lil Rel Howery, Jillian Bell, Kamaia Fairburn, Alex R. Hibbert, Fabrizio Guido, Elizabeth Hinkler, and Emily Hinkler as Cindy and Mindy, and Anabel Graetz as Ruth.”
Other original cast members from the first film returning are Josh Server, Lori Beth Denberg, and Carmen Electra.

Before becoming a successful box office film, grossing under $24 million against a $8 million budget, Good Burger gained its relevance as a skit on the popular Nickelodeon sketch comedy show All That. From there, it would receive cult status, with Thompson and Mitchell reviving the characters for a skit in 2015 on The Tonight Show.
Mitchell also appeared as Ed in the revival of All That in 2019.

All That fans rejoice. Dexter and Ed are coming back for Good Burger 2.
Yes, you read the correctly. A sequel to the 1997 film Good Burger, based on the popular All That sketch, is in the works and is coming to Paramount+.
Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell made the big announcement on Friday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Production for the sequel begins in May and will arrive on the streaming network sometime in 2023.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s plot will “follow them as they reunite in the present day at fast-food restaurant Good Burger with a new group of employees. Phil Traill (The Middle, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Single Drunk Female) will direct the film, with Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert (All That and Good Burger) serving as writers and executive producers.”
In a statement announcing the film, Thompson said, “I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger! Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud, and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal! Love performing with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”
“Ed is one of those timeless characters that has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it’s such a beautiful blessing to still be doing it after all these years. It’s super awesome to come back and continue the stories of Dex, Ed, and Good Burger for both the people who grew up watching and their kids,” Mitchell added.

Good Burger first gained popularity as a sketch on Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy show All That and subsequently turned into a film. It would gross $24 million at the box office, easily recouping its reported $8 million budget.
The movie became a cult hit with fans, with Mitchell and Thompson reprising their Good Burger characters on The Tonight Show for a 2015 sketch.
