Conservative pundit Candace Owens is not a fan of Ice Spice’s new single, saying it shows how far society has fallen.

Candace Owens has made a career out of declaring everything that’s wrong with America in lockstep with her right-wing fan base. On Wednesday (January 31), she aimed the latest single from Ice Spice, entitled “Think U The S**t (Fart)” on her self-titled podcast. “If you’re wondering whether or not it’s a good song, what do you think? It’s called ‘Think U The S**t (Fart)’,” she says with a thinly veiled tone of disgust before playing a snippet of the track. It made its debut last week, going viral partly due to the line: “Think you the sh*t, b*tch? You not even the fart.”

“Now I think we can all admit that we’ve fallen as a society,” Owens continued after playing the clip. “I mean, I wouldn’t say that was Mozart or Beethoven, but I’m not all of these mainstream media publications that routinely run to defend this kind of music similar to what they did with ‘WAP’ the most disgusting and filthiest lyrics I’ve ever read. They will then sit down and write an article trying to convince you that what you just heard was magical and they did this with this Ice Spice song.”
Exasperated, the Daily Wire contributor concluded: “I just wanna live in a society where we can all acknowledge that a song that’s entitled ‘Think U The Sh*t (Fart)’ is in fact itself a sh*t fart. That’s where I wanna live. Can we get back to that? I don’t know. Let’s move on.”
Ice Spice’s newest track comes in advance of the 23-year-old’s four nominations at next weekend’s Grammy Awards. These include the Best Rap Song award for her “Barbie World” collaborative track with Nicki Minaj and Best New Artist. The Bronx native has also confirmed that her debut album is on the way in a recent interview on Today with Hoda & Jenna, saying: “I’m so excited. It’s called Y2K. It’s almost finished. So, I’m really excited.”

Ice Spice will now have to defend her name in a court of law. One of her peers says she lifted a large part from his song for “In Ha Mood”.

Digital Music News is reporting that the Bronx, New York native is being sued by a Brooklyn MC for allegedly shark biting. On Wednesday, Jan. 17 D. Chamberz (born Duval Chamberlain) filed a lawsuit at Brooklyn Federal Court against Ice Spice. He claims that her 2023 hit “In Ha Mood” took elements from his 2021 single “In That Mood”. The submitted paperwork details his complaint saying “by every method of analysis, ‘In Ha Mood’ is a forgery. Any proper comparative analysis of the beat, lyrics, hook, rhythmic structure, metrical placement, and narrative context will demonstrate that ‘In Ha Mood’ was copied or principally derived from ‘In That Mood.’”

His legal team would also allege that the resemblances have been noticed by Hip-Hop fans prior to the filing. “Non-expert listeners have independently pointed out that Defendants ‘stole’ ‘In That Mood’ in creating ‘In Ha Mood,’” his lawyer wrote. “The two songs clearly employ numerous noticeably similar composition elements and lyrics, which result in a sound and feel that are very much alike.”
They also speculate that Ice Spice’s producer RIOTUSA was familiar with “In That Mood” saying that he posted an Instagram Story of him listening to New York radio station HOT97 minutes prior to the song being played. Additionally the lawsuit points to RIOTUSA’s father DJ ENUFF, a radio personality on HOT97, that “actively engaged with D. Chamberz’s social media content.”
Ice Spice has yet to publicly comment on the matter. You can listen to “In That Mood” below.

The Coachella 2024 lineup is here, and it’s stacked.
The official Coachella 2024 lineup is here, and this year’s headliners will include meanie Doja Cat, hater of top rapper lists Tyler, the creator, and Lana Del Rey.

The ridiculously expensive music festival that sees music fans, rich folks, and influencers flock to the Coachella Valley will take place over two weekends, April 12 to April 14 and April 19 to April 21.

Del Rey will headline two Fridays, Tyler will bring his unique energy on Saturdays, and Doja will shut it all down on Sundays.
Coachella 2024 attendees will also see No Doubt reunite. It will mark the first time the “Spiderwebs” band has taken the stage together in almost ten years.
Other big names on the incredibly stacked lineup include Hip-Hop’s new favorite booty shaker Ice Spice, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, J Balvin, Peso Pluma, Jhené Aiko, Jon Batiste, Skepta, Grimes, Victoria Monet, Tinashe, Blxst and more.
For those who don’t have the coins to be in the desert getting their “influency” flicks off, don’t worry because YouTube will once again be the official live stream partner of the musical festival.
Fans head to the official Coachella page to catch live streams of the performances and get exclusive backstage access without worrying about desert dust getting all in their mouths and eyes.
Like it always does, the entire festival will take place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, and ticket presale begins on January 19; good luck if you are attempting to make it out to California.
You can check out the entire Coachella 2024 lineup below.

If you thought 2023 was a big year for Ice Spice, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Hot off the news that the “Boy’s a Liar” star is prepping her debut album for a 2024 release, Billboard can reveal that the rapper has just landed a Super Bowl commercial for STARRY, PepsiCo’s new lemon lime soda.

While STARRY is a sponsor of the NBA and WNBA, this is the beverage brand’s first-ever Super Bowl commercial, bringing the soda — and its mascots Lem and Lime — to the airwaves for the Big Game. And while Ice Spice went viral for her Dunkin Donuts commercial (opposite Ben Affleck, natch), the STARRY spot will also be her first time appearing in a Super Bowl spot.

Details for Ice Spice’s Super Bowl commercial have yet to be announced, though STARRY says the hip-hop star will appear alongside Lem and Lime in the ad. A teaser pic from the set shows Ice Spice sipping on a STARRY soda (with neon yellow nails to match) while dodging longing looks from the green and yellow mascots. Expect a corresponding social campaign to launch in conjunction with the TV commercial.

In a press release, PepsiCo says partnering with the Grammy-nominated “Princess of Rap” was “a no brainer,” adding that “Ice Spice’s charm and charisma are unmatched, making her the perfect fit for the brand’s first Super Bowl commercial.”

“I’m hyped to star in the first-ever STARRY Super Bowl commercial,” Ice Spice tells Billboard. “Trust me,” she adds: “STARRY is a vibe.”

STARRY is the latest offering from PepsiCo, having debuted in January 2023. Since then, the brand has partnered with everyone from Keke Palmer, to NBA stars Karl-Anthony Towns and Zion Williamson, and LSU basketball star Angel Reese on a number of colorful campaigns.

As for Ice Spice, the rapper has been a hot commodity in the partnerships space. She performed at a concert to help launch Bose’s “QuietComfort Ultra” headphones and earbuds in October, and appeared on Instagram’s recent “Close Friends Only” podcast, sitting down with Doja Cat to talk Instagram trends, crazy memes and creators they love.

Interestingly enough the “Munch” rapper revealed that her first ever celebrity crush was none other than Usher who she said was a “gorgeous man.”

Y’all already know Usher ’bout to slide in her DMs after hearing about this revelation. The man barely looks a day over 30.

Sped-up remixes continue to resonate on TikTok: The four most popular songs on the platform in the U.S. in 2023 were all sped-up, according to TikTok’s year-end report. The leader of the pack was the “more sped-up” version of Justine Skye’s “Collide,” followed by sped-up renditions of FIFTY FIFTY’s “Cupid,” PARTYNEXTDOOR’s “Her Way,” and Toosii’s “Favorite Song.”
U.K. listeners also enjoyed using up-tempo re-works of songs in their TikTok videos. In addition to “Collide” (No. 2 on the platform) and “Cupid” (No. 3), they also favored a sped-up version of George Ezra’s “Green Green Grass” (No. 4), MEYY’s “Pretty” (No. 6), and Raye and 070 Shake’s “Escapism” (No. 10).

The sped-up remixes that zip around TikTok are usually made first by creators (sometimes funded by label marketing efforts). If they start to perform well, it’s become routine for labels to release their own official versions.

“Back in the day, we used club remixes to diversify the visibility of a record,” Nima Nasseri, who then served as global head of A&R strategy for Universal Music Group’s music strategy and tactics team, explained in 2022. “The purpose was to bring back visibility to the main version. Now people are discovering the main version from the sped-up or slowed one. Instead of spending $50,000 for a remix from a big-name DJ, you’re spending relatively minimal amounts [on a sped-up rendition] and getting much more return and reach.”

Why have these simple remixes proved consistently effective? Steven Pardo, digital marketing director at Secretly Group, told Billboard in 2022 that “in a video platform that prioritizes catching attention immediately, being able to get the impact of the lyrics across more quickly is advantageous.”

Scott Plagenhoef, global head of music programming at Apple Music, echoed this sentiment during an interview with Billboard in March: “Sped-up songs allow for more of a track to be heard within the time constraints of a TikTok video and mirror the pace at which users consume content online.”

Increasing tempo can also “make the songs better — it brings out a different emotion,” according to Josh “Bru” Brubaker, a popular TikToker and radio personality for Audacy.

In the last 15 months, sped-up remixes have spurred chart surges for Thundercat‘s “Them Changes,” Miguel’s “Sure Thing” (actually a resurge, as it first charted over a decade ago), The Weeknd’s “Die for You,” Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary,” Mariah Carey’s “It’s a Wrap,” and more.

Due to TikTok’s popularity and its ability to drive streaming activity, Billboard launched a TikTok Top 50 chart in September, ranking tracks on the platform according to a combination of creations, video views and user engagement in the U.S. “The chart gives a clear picture of the music that is being listened to on TikTok, and consequently starting to trend on DSPs and other services,” Ole Obermann, global head of music business development at TikTok, said in a statement.

Across the first two months of the chart, hip-hop proved to be by far the most popular genre, accounting for more than 35% of chart entries. Pop was next, hovering at 20%, largely thanks to Taylor Swift, who had nine different charting tracks in the first eight weeks. The third most popular genre was R&B (10%).

U.S. listeners did listen to some music at its original tempo, according to TikTok’s year-end report. PinkPantheress and Ice Spice‘s “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2,” Ohboyprince’s “Bounce When She Walk,” Young Nudy and 21 Savage’s “Peaches & Eggplants,” Ice Spice’s “In Ha Mood,” Jain’s “Makeba,” and Swift’s “Cruel Summer” rounded out the rest of the top 10.

A 2023 List Of Hip-Hop’s Leading Ladies
As we celebrate the 50th year of Hip-Hop, it’s the perfect time to recognize women in music who are ruling the charts and beating the odds.

Hip-Hop has historically been a male-dominated genre, largely built on the stories of strife of growing up as a young Black man in America. However, women have always been an important part of the culture, and we’re grateful to the legendary rap queens who came in to unify artists breaking into the industry. Today, women from all over the country are making a name for themselves, breaking records and looking good doing it! Read on for the stories behind the leading females currently taking charge in Hip-Hop!
Latto

Alyssa Michelle Stephens, also known as Latto, is a southern rapper from Clayton County, Georgia. The 24-year-old first appeared on the scene on Jermaine Dupri’s reality show The Rap Game where her spunky energy and advanced wordplay wowed judges and viewers alike. While she ultimately rose to fame after her 2019 hit single “B*tch From Da Souf,” Latto started her journey in music years earlier at the tender age of 10.
After “B*tch From Da Souf” garnered huge label recognition, Latto signed to RCA Records where she went on to release chart-toppers like “Big Energy” and “Put It On Da Floor.”
Latto is of mixed race, which inspired her original rap name, Mulatto. Over time she received severe criticism about over choosing to use a name with a charged racialized history. However, Latto overcame the public castigation and rebranded, changing her social media handles to Latto777.

Her 2021 single “Big Energy” reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and was re-released with the legendary Mariah Carey on the remix! Now, that’s killing the game!

Jordan Poole is currently a member of the Washington Wizards and attempting to add his offensive firepower to the young NBA squad. Earlier this year while still a Golden State Warriors member, Poole was dogged by rumors he spent half a million on a date with Ice Spice but told a fan in Washington that the rumors were not true.
Last May, MediaTakeOut published an article alleging that Jordan Poole, 24, took Ice Spice on a whirlwind shopping spree that included him copping a Maybach truck for the popular rapper. The outlet claimed that sources close to Spice say that Poole dropped $500,000 on their first date which included stops at the Gucci and Louis Vuitton stores among other high-end establishments.

This past weekend, Poole was at a fan meet-and-greet event in Washington, D.C. when a fan inquired about the rumored date with the “Munch” star. According to Poole, he says that the rumor was “definitely not true” as he laughed at the young fan’s question while signing autographs next to the Wizards 2022 NBA Draft pick, Johnny Davis.

Ice Spice might’ve had social media buzzing with her Betty Boop Halloween “costume,” but her mama isn’t far behind as the internet is amazed at how Charina Almanzar stunned with her own Halloween getup.

While Ice Spice went with the throwback cartoon character for this year’s All Hallows Eve festivities, her mama decided to dress as Wednesday Addams of The Addams Family which rediscovered it’s popularity late last year thanks to Jenna Ortega’s iteration of the classic character on the Netflix series, Wednesday. While we’ve seen lots of children and teenage girls dress as Wednesday Addams this Halloween, seeing Ice Spice’s mama’s version of the character and dancing with her bad self definitely had social media gawking and saying, “She gets it from her mama!”

Yeah, don’t be surprised if celebrities decide to forego sliding into Ice Spice’s DM’s and head straight for the source as Ms. Almanzar is the talk of the town these days. After the video of Ms. Alamanzar’s Wednesday Addams hit the internet, people were quick to acknowledge that she was indeed a baddy as her daughter had stated before and expressed their desires to meet the woman behind the ascending rap star from the Bronx.

If Ice Spice’s mama doesn’t have a man at the current moment, expect that to change as we’re sure rappers, ballers, and lots of creeps are more than likely shooting their shots behind the scenes. Heck, Jordan Poole might decide to “invest” another $500,000 on a date with her mama when it’s all said and done. Just sayin.’
What do y’all think of Ice Spice’s mom dukes looking like the baddest of the baddy’s? Let us know in the comments section below.
