Diddy, known also as Sean Combs, had his homes in Los Angeles and Miami raided on Monday (March 25) in connection to a federal sex trafficking investigation. A video of Diddy surfaced online and showed the mogul simply walking around a Miami airport.

TMZ shared the footage of Diddy, 54, walking around Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport and was reportedly stopped by law enforcement officials.

According to an eyewitness, Diddy was waiting on other people who were part of his entourage who too were stopped by investigators although it isn’t known if anything came of it. The Department of Homeland Security officers appeared on the scene while the Bad Boy Records honcho was on a private jet.

Rumors online persisted that Combs was attempting to flee the country but considering that he isn’t under arrest, it does not appear that Diddy is on the run.

Thus far, four Jane Does, and one John Doe have been questioned by the Southern District of New York, who is said to be leading the criminal investigation.

This story is still developing and as new details emerge, we will update our reporting.

Produced by FNGRS CRSSD and Goldenvoice, the event has been a mainstay on the Southern California dance festival circuit since 2015, when it launched as a boutique destination for house and techno fans in SoCal, a market then dominated by dance megafestivals like EDC and HARD.

CRSSD’s 2024 spring festival (another follows annually each fall) welcomed roughly 15,000 fans per day, along with headliners including Tale of Us, Armand Van Helden, Jeff Milles and Lane 8. Additionally, the event hosted a flurry of crucial rising and veteran artists including Syreeta, Joris Voorn, Trym and X Club. Hear exclusive sets from these four acts below.

Syreeta

Ending her debut U.S. tour with this CRSSD appearance, the London-based producer opened her set with a spacious, slow-build edit of Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 classic “Swimming Pools,” shifted into Latin rhythms, a subtle remix of Eminem’s “Superman” and then put her foot on the gas for an hour of fresh, sophisticated house music.

Joris Voorn

The Dutch mainstay played an evening set on the festival’s City Steps stage, opening with Infamous Zol’s lush 2019 production “Nocturnals” before ramping up into 90 minutes of progressive house and melodic techno that altogether helped segue the festival from day to night.

Trym

French DJ Trym wasted no time getting into it, starting his set with heavy-hitting techno and maintaining a very high BPM for the duration of his March 2 headlining set on the festival’s City Steps stage.

X Club.

On Saturday, the Australian duo played to a packed late afternoon crowd on CRSSD’s City Steps stage. There, they delivered an impeccable set made from ravey electronica, increasingly hard techno, one surprising and very welcome “Groove Is in the Heart” remix and a trance-oriented finale.

50 Cent Weighs In On Feds Raiding Diddy’s Homes

Social media was buzzing  on Monday, March 25 with thoughts and comments about P. Diddy being on the run after authorities raided his properties over sex trafficking allegations. So naturally, 50 Cent threw his own two cents in on the matter and of course, it was of the comedic kind—at Diddy’s expense.

The Get Rich or Die Tryin’ rapper took to Instagram to lowkey clown Diddy over the raid and posted a picture of Diddy’s sons in handcuffs outside of the property with a caption that read “S–t just got real ?the Fed’s in all the cribs, damn they got the kids in cuffs. ?

In a second post Fiddy spoke on how bad things might be for Diddy now that police were carrying out these search warrants saying “Now it’s not Diddy do it, it’s Diddy done ??‍♂️they don’t come like that unless they got a case.”

Page Six reports:

The “Candy Shop” rapper — born Curtis Jackson — also shared a video by a social media user that dubbed Diddy as “too freaky for society,” captioning it, “ran off and left the kids in the whole shit, yo he doing the race ??said f–k it!”

For years, 50 has remained an ongoing critic of Diddy, calling the “I’ll Be Missing You” singer out on social media whenever the opportunity presented itself and going as far as joking about his sexuality.

His latest criticism comes just hours after Homeland Security raided Sean’s homes in California and Florida.

The posts have since been taken down.

50 isn’t wrong about at least one thing, though, allegedly. The alphabet boys wouldn’t go to these lengths to get Diddy unless they had solid proof that a crime was committed whether that be through evidence or witnesses. With Diddy nowhere to be found at the moment, things might only get worse as more information is bound to leak out and the possibility of more people coming forward with what they know grows by the day.

Looks like Diddy done did it this time and 50 Cent is here for all of it.

Benzino Pulls Up To Eminem’s ‘Mom’s Spaghetti’ Restaurant, Calls Food “Horrible”

HipHopWired Featured Video

Source: Paras Griffin / Getty

At some point, it needs to be acknowledged that the main reason the two-decade-old beef between Benzino and Eminem refuses to die is that Benzino refuses to stop talking about it.

It was just last month that the “Who Is Benzino?” rapper had a tearful emotional breakdown on the set of Drink Champs because he was supposedly tired of talking about his Caucasian rival, who he said he “don’t have a problem with” at the time. But then he was right back to trading jabs with Slim Shady soon after. Now, the 58-year-old is taking his beef with Em to the latter’s home city of Detroit and posting on Instagram photos and footage of himself at Em’s “Mom’s Spaghetti” Italian cuisine  restaurant, where he bought bags of food just so he could tell his followers that the spaghetti was “horrible.”

“Mark this date. #Rapelvis Video soon come……oh the [spaghetti] was horrible,” Zino captioned a photo posted to IG that showed him flipping the bird at the logo of Em’s restaurant. Apparently, the former Mad Men member didn’t think there was anything counterintuitive about spending his money on food from Em’s eaterywhich essentially puts it in the Music to be Murdered By rapper’s pocketwhile giving the restaurant free advertising.

From Vibe:

Zino also uploaded various other clips from behind the scenes of his music video, showing him launching more disrespect at Em’s establishment. The former The Source owner is seen ordering bags of food from the spot. In another clip, he takes a bite from a pint-size spaghetti order before chucking it in disgust. Another clip features the 58-year-old Hip-Hop figure stealing one of the store’s signs.

Meanwhile, outside of an occasional diss track, Em appears to be far less invested in this beef than Zino is. So, you know, maybe it’s time to let it go, bruh.

Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapses After Cargo Ship Hit Column

Tugs assisting tanker near Baltimore's Key Bridge

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Md. collapsed early Tuesday morning (March 26) after a cargo ship hit a support column. Several videos of the collapse made their way onto social media channels and rescuers were reportedly searching for nearly two dozen survivors.

Local outlet The Baltimore Sun reports that a container ship traveling in the area struck one of the Francis Scott Key Bridge’s support columns which snapped the bridge in pieces and plunged around seven cars into the Patapsco River. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has declared a state of emergency.

The ship, known as Dali, struck the bridge around 1:20 AM local time and a search and rescue operation went underway immediately. Authorities say they were looking for at least seven missing individuals.

While a cause for the accident has yet to be determined or confirmed, U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin told the outlet that the cargo ship may have lost power thus cutting off its steering capabilities.

“What’s been indicated is the vessel lost power, and when you lose power you lose steering,” Sen. Cardin said. “But they’re doing a full investigation.”

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is slated to investigate the accident according to U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen, who also echoed Sen. Cardin’s suggestion that the ship lost power.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott spoke at a news conference regarding the tragedy, saying, “This is a tragedy that you could never imagine…It looked like something out of an action movie.”

Traffic in the region has been rerouted and the outlet adds that the 1.6-mile steel bridge is a main portion of Interstate 695 and one of Baltimore’s three toll crossings. The bridge carried over 12.4 million commercial and passenger vehicles last year signaling that it is a major thoroughfare.

As updates come in, we will update this report.

‘Noise For Now Vol. 2’ Compilation Benefitting Abortion Access Features Big Freedia, Courtney Barnett, David Byrne & More

An all-star group of indie artists are collaborating on the second volume of the Noise For Now series benefitting independent abortion providers throughout the country. The lineup for Noise For Now Vol. 2 was revealed on Tuesday (March 26), the same day the Supreme Court is slated to hear arguments in a case challenging the availability and accessibility of the safe and effective abortion pill mifepristone.

The 11-track collection features exclusive tracks from Big Freedia (“Holatta”), David Byrne and Devo (“Empire”), Courtney Barnett (“Boxing Day Blues (Demo),” The War on Drugs (“Victim (Live),” Claud (“Spare Tire (Demo)” and Julia Jacklin (“Dead From the Waist Down”), among others. At a time when abortion access is being rolled back across the country in the wake of the conservative majority Supreme Court’s 2022 decision overturning Roe v. Wade, the limited-edition compilation due out on June 21 will benefit abortion providers via Keep Our Clinics; the release date will mark the second anniversary of the overturning of Roe, which removed federal protections for abortion.

The compilation will be available on vinyl as well as digitally, with pre-orders available here. “We are so grateful to work with these incredible artists to raise money and awareness for independent abortion clinics throughout the U.S.,” said Noise for Now executive director Amelia Bauer in a statement. “We know that when the artists and performers we love speak openly and unapologetically about abortion, abortion is stripped of its stigma. We believe that we can shape our future with art, community, and collective action.”

Noise for Now allows artists to connect with and financially support grassroots organizations that work in the reproductive justice field, including abortion access. “Independent clinics continue to be on the frontlines: they’re providing the majority of abortion care, providing care throughout pregnancy, and continuing to fight to preserve and expand our rights in the courts and on the ballot,” said Brooke Thomson, development director at the Abortion Care Network. “Art and music are essential to our struggles. When artists, musicians, advocates, and providers work together, we change the culture and tell everyone the truth: abortion is popular, and supporting independent providers is necessary.”

The first edition of Noise For Now — featuring Maya Hawke, Amanda Shires and Jason Isbell, Bully, Wet Leg and more — was released in Nov. 2023.

U.S. Recorded Music Revenue Up 8% in 2023 as Streaming Growth Remains Steady: RIAA

Recorded music revenue in the United States grew 7.7% in 2023 over the prior year, reaching a high-water mark of $17.1 billion at retail, according to the RIAA. Within that headline number, $14.4 billion — or 84% — was driven by streaming, a figure that was also up 8% over 2022.

It’s the eighth straight year of revenue growth for the U.S. business, and the rounded 8% growth over last year’s $15.9 billion represents an uptick from 2022, when the business grew 6.1% over the prior year. And while the headline figure marks the third straight year that the business has set a record for revenue — previously set in 1999, when revenue hit $14.6 billion prior to Napster taking hold — when adjusted for inflation, it still falls far below that 1999 figure, which would be $26.9 billion at current rates.

Still, the U.S. business has been growing steadily over the past several years, and streaming has settled into being a fairly consistent piece of the revenue pie: This marks the fourth straight year that overall streaming accounted for between 83% and 84% of revenue, showing that streaming and the overall revenue picture are growing in lockstep. Within the streaming category, paid subscription streaming accounted for $11.2 billion, or 78% of all streaming revenue, up 9% over the $10.2 billion it accounted for last year; and the average number of full-tier U.S. subscriptions grew 5.7% to 96.8 million, up from 91.6 million last year.

Trending on Billboard

However, limited-tier subscription revenue — the bucket into which Amazon Prime, Pandora Plus, fitness services and other paid subscriptions that don’t include access to full, on-demand catalogs falls — dropped 4% to $1.0 billion. Meanwhile, ad-supported streaming service revenue grew 2%, to $1.9 billion, up from $1.8 billion in 2022; and digital and customized radio revenue, which includes services like SiriusXM and SoundExchange distributions, picked up 8% year over year, to $1.3 billion. Synch revenue grew by a similar rate, up 7.4% to $411 million.

In terms of sales, digital downloads continued their slide, with revenue down 12.2% year-over-year to $434.1 million, now representing just 3% of the overall industry. On the flipside, physical sales once again surged, up 10.5% to $1.91 billion (from $1.73 billion last year). That was largely driven by vinyl sales growth, which was up 10.3% year over year to $1.35 billion in revenue — an increase from $1.22 billion in 2022, as units jumped to 43.2 million from 40.5 million. CD sales revenue also grew by double-digit percentages, increasing 11.3% to $537.1 million from a $482.6 million mark in 2022, even as the number of CDs sold fell. The format saw 37 million sales in 2023, down from 37.7 million the year prior, suggesting a rise in average price per unit year over year.

Overall, the percentage breakdown between digital revenue and physical revenue — 89% to 11% — remained essentially the same as it has since 2018, only fluctuating 1% one way or the other in the intervening years. At wholesale, overall revenue grew by 7%, up to $11 billion from last year’s $10.3 billion, marking the second straight year that metric crossed the $10 billion plateau.
