Rita Ora had fans buzzing when she posted a photo carousel to Instagram, in which she’s seen with Waititi’s arms wrapped around her in one of the snaps. “Good times, memories, random things on my phone and the ones I love..❤️” she captioned the post, sparking romance rumors.

Ora and Waititi made headlines when they were photographed cuddling with their Thor: Love and Thunder co-star Tessa Thompson outside of Waititi’s home in Australia. In the snaps, the three are seen taking turns kissing each other. Later, in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Waititi responded by noting, “I was doing nothing wrong.”

He continued, “I think in the world of the internet, everything goes away pretty quick. And also, ‘is it that big a deal?’ No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It’s fine.”

It wasn’t long until the duo made their relationship red carpet official, as they walked and posed together for The Suicide Squad premiere in Los Angeles.

The couple walked the carpet once again at the 2021 Met Gala, which was themed “Celebrating in America: a Lexicon of Fashion.”

To celebrate his love, Waititi shared a sweet series of photos, in which he’s seen photographing and supporting Ora amid all her accomplishments. “Boyfriends of Instagram,” he captioned the post.

Ora appeared on the Greatest Night Ever podcast, where she told her friend and host about her relationship with Waititi, whom she said is a “lovely” person. “I’ve always wanted the fairytale, that’s what I grew up loving,” she noted. “For me, it was always about that love, finding a partner, so I’m really happy I did.”

Ora and Waititi hosted the 2022 MTV EMAs together in Düsseldorf, Germany. Ora previously hosted the EMAs in 2017. “I’m thrilled to be back hosting, and sharing the stage with Taika makes it all the more special,” Ora said in a statement at the time. “We’ve got it all at this year’s EMAs, fun surprises, fantastic fashion, comedy, and above all amazing music!”

While fans had been speculating for months that the couple were married after they were photographed wearing matching gold rings, Ora confirmed the news. “Yes. I am officially off the market, people,” she said in an interview with the U.K.’s Heart Breakfast Radio, per ET Canada. “I chose to keep it more private and keep it to myself…It was exactly, exactly how I wanted. It is nice to keep some things just to myself sometimes. It was nice and sweet. Sorry it’s not that interesting. One day I will throw a big party.”

Waititi took to Instagram to show off his ornate “R” tattoo on Instagram, joking in the caption that the letter stood for “rugby” rather than “Rita.”

“I love Rugby,” he playfully captioned the post.

“[The wedding was planned] in two to three days, when I was out of cycle, which is what I call it when I’m not in album cycle mode,” she told Glamour UK. “His kids were there, and I really wanted them to be a part of it. It was either then or we had to wait for ages.”

She continued, “I didn’t want to do it without my stepkids there. So, we just figured it out, and we did it. And it was perfect. I wanted to keep it private because my life and my career aren’t.”

Sharing photos and memories of the big day to Vogue, the couple confessed to being amused by all the false reports speculating on when and where they got hitched. “It wasn’t in London or in France like everyone reported,” Waititi told the publication. “It was in L.A. with a small group of friends.”

“At our home!” added Ora. “It’s actually been quite entertaining for us to see the different stories people made up and all the while getting to keep it to ourselves,” Ora said. “And, I love that we now get to share what really happened — and to do it on our one-year anniversary, no less.”

There were only about eight people in the room, total; the couple’s parents joined in via Zoom, they noted. “She proposed to me, and I said yes instantly,” he recalled to Vogue.

Waititi turned 48 years old on August 16, Ora showered her husband with love in a swoon-worthy Instagram post. “Happy birthday to the funnest smartest man I have ever come across in my life,” she wrote alongside a series of photos of the filmmaker. “You keep me together in moments I don’t think I can. Thank you for showing me what love really is. Here’s to many more moments of me stealing your jokes and telling them 10x louder so people think I’m the funny one. I LOVE YOU.”
