Nicki Nicole Plays Fishing For Answers | Billboard

Nicki Nicole plays Fishing for Answers with Billboard backstage at Billboard’s Latin Music Week 2023.

Nicki Nicole:

Hello, everyone. I’m Nicki Nicole, and I’m here to answer questions with Billboard.

What’s your guilty pleasure food? I think it’s chicken supremes. They are quite popular in Argentina and honestly, when they’re fried, they aren’t that healthy, so that’s my guilty pleasure.

Let’s go to the next one! Let’s see… What was your most embarrassing moment on stage? I have quite a few, a collection of embarrassing moments on stage not because they happen, but because I look for them. But once I fell off a staircase, it was bad. I don’t think anyone saw me, but I believe they heard because the microphone was still on. I was fine, nothing happened but the front row people, I think they saw me, and when I came out, some looked concerned, others were laughing but it was all good. I was a little embarrassed.

What’s your secret talent? I’m not sure if it’s a talent, but I have some really good jokes. I love making people laugh and if I have to make someone laugh, I can do it.

What’s the best concert you have attended? Do I have to pick just one? I have two. Kendrick Lamar’s at Lollapalooza in Paris and Rosalía’s at the Movistar Arena in Argentina. For me, they’re at the top.

Someone who has impacted me? Yes. Once, behind the scenes at an awards show, I met Thalia. I hadn’t met her in person, and I was quite impressed, to be honest. She was very beautiful, and also she was walking, and I was like, “Wow.” I didn’t even know how to walk in heels at that time, imagine that so, I saw her and said, “Wait, what?!” She left a big impression on me.

D4vd Talks Touring With SZA, Connecting With His Fan Through His Music & More | Billboard News

D4vd talks about his music journey through his two EPs, connecting with fans through his music, going on tour with SZA, how he feels about his rapidly growing music career and more!

D4vd:
It was, like, at a press conference, everybody had their phones up playing the same clip. And it was, like, SZA sitting down saying, “The D4 emo music guy.” Oh, like that’s me. They’re talking about me! You know it’s so fire.

Hey, everybody! I’m d4vd, and you’re watching Billboard News.

Lyndsey Havens:
Hey, I’m Lyndsey Havens for Billboard News. And we are here with genre agnostic, I’m gonna say singer-songwriter D4vd. It’s so good to have you here.

D4vd:
Thank you for having me.

Lyndsey Havens:
You’ve been on quite the run this year.

D4vd:
Quite the sprint.

Lyndsey Havens:
“Sprint,” that’s a better word. So if you think about it just a few years ago, I’m picturing you recording vocals in your sister’s walk-in closet. And this year alone, sold-out tour, two EPs. If you had to describe what 2023 has been like for you, how could you put into words?

D4vd:
Absolutely “blessed roller coaster.” Like, front-row seat on a roller coaster. Honestly, and it goes this way, it goes that way, it goes every which way. It’s honestly just been a wild ride.

Lyndsey Havens:
Has there been one moment that has surprised you the most?

D4vd:
SZA tour honestly. Honestly, it was like, months and months of seeing her to this moment. And I was just completely like, starstruck. It wasn’t even real to me when I heard the news.

Welcome back to Billboard News on Tetris Kelly it’s Tuesday October 24, aka the day Britney released her memoir, I got my copy and I’m here to let you know some of the biggest shockers, Britney Spears’ book “The Woman In Me” is out and not only did we celebrate the release with the creators of her movie, we’re discussing some of the books big revelations, and that’s if I can put it down it’s just so good. Fans packed into the Grove last night for a screening of Brittany’s 2002 film ‘Crossroads’ that she requested.

Tamra Davis
Yeah she really wanted to help with releasing her book, all to kinda look back at her life and see how she was over protected and you know and see it in the context.

Tetris Kelly
The movies creators Tamra Davidson and Anne Carli even spoke about how the label at the time wanted her to record music after Pepsi commercials and movie shoot days. And even Britney told them, “But I have to.”

Anne Carli
And I said guess what you don’t have to do.

Tetris Kelly
In the book also has its fair share of eye opening moments from our overprotected queen she details the now much discussed abortion she shared with Justin Timberlake and we also find out Spears’ paternal grandmother Jean whom the star gets her middle name from was sent to an asylum by her husband June and after Jean suffered abuse and committed suicide. Britney writes June would later send his second wife to the same asylum. She’s telling her story her way for more from the book hit Billboard.com.

Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” finally hits No. 1 on the Hot 100; it’s her 10th career No. 1 and the first one from her 2019 album ‘Lover.’ Taylor was also seen this weekend supporting and giving good luck to her favorite NFL tight end Travis Kelce while several other high-profile NFL tight ends celebrated National Tight Ends Day. Bad Bunny had a star-studded weekend at ‘Saturday Night Live,’ hosting and doing multiple sketches alongside Mick Jagger and Pedro Pascal before getting introduced by Lady Gaga and Pascal for his performances of “Un Preview” and “Monaco.” Madonna gives us a health update, Usher serenades Doja Cat, and Myke Towers plays This or That backstage at Billboard Latin Music Week 2023.

Tetris Kelly
Doja Cat gets the Usher treatment while Madonna gives a health update. Taylor Swift climbs the charts, and her boo gets celebrated. Bad Bunny won over everyone at ‘SNL’ including Lady Gaga, and we played some games with Myke Towers at Latin Music Week. Welcome to a new week of Billboard News. I’m Tetris Kelly. It’s Monday, October 23rd. And I don’t know if you saw, but Bad Bunny hosted ‘SNL’ over the weekend and got the best intro for his musical performance. Bad Bunny gets to live out his best Little Monster dreams as Lady Gaga introduces him on ‘Saturday Night Live.’

Tetris Kelly
Mr. Bunny was introduced by Mother Monster during his stint on ‘SNL’ and most of his fans know he’s a massive fan of Lady Gaga. If you look, you can see how happy he was even on stage after the intro and, can somebody give this man a second to get his breathe? Even during the closing credits, he couldn’t help but freak out for a hug. We gotta love when somebody we’re a fan of is a fan too. Bad Bunny has a lot to celebrate. He’s No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with his new album. As for the Hot 100, one of my faves made it to the top.

Myke Towers
Empanadas, well they can be with shrimp or whatever, but they have to taste good.

Myke Towers
Red.

Myke Towers
It depends on the mood, but… mariachi.

Myke Towers
Mezcal is more trendy now, but tequila never fails, I’ll go with tequila. Whatever’s available at the moment, because if one runs out, we drink the other!

GALE Plays Fishing for Answers | Billboard

GALE plays Fishing for Answers with Billboard backstage at Billboard’s Latin Music Week 2023.

GALE
Hello I’m GALE and here I am, Fishing for Answers with Billboard.

GALE
Let’s see… do you prefer recording or touring?

GALE
Oh, that’s a tough one. I love the energy I feel in the studio, creating, writing a song. It’s like magic, but I feel like nothing compares to being on stage. Singing your songs and connecting with the audience in that way. It’s like kind of electricity. So a bit of both, being on stage more.

GALE
Who is your style icon and why?

GALE
Uhhh…you know I don’t have a specific person, but I’m really inspired by ’90s fashion, I love that ’90s vibe, everything.

GALE
I could stay here until tomorrow.

GALE
Who would you love to collaborate with on your next album?

GALE
Oh I don’t know. Not a specific person, but wow. I just released my first album a few months ago. I’m still in that mindset. Although I’ve started working on new music, I’m just too excited. Well some collaborations I’d love…to name a few Pol Granch, Bruses, Manuel Turizo, Shakira eventually I’d love that. Yes.

GALE
Have you met someone who left you starstruck? Who was it?

GALE
Well, you see…I’ve thought about this a lot because I started composing with other artists who I’ve had the opportunity to write with artists I admire, a lot like…Christina Aguilera and Shakira, who I grew up listening to. Imitating, well, everything. But starstruck? No it hasn’t happened to me. Daddy Yankee. Maybe with him the starstruck feeling could happen, I’ll get back to you.

Vico C’s 5 Favorite Latin Things | Billboard

Vico C tells us all about his five favorite Latin things backstage at Billboard’s Latin Music Week 2023.

Vico C:
Hello. Hi, I’m Vico C, and these are my five favorite Latin things.

I don’t have a favorite word, but let me tell you what it should be. For me, the one that it should be is Jesus.

It’s mixed, my favorite dish is mixed. By “Criollo,” I understand, when it’s Criollo, when it’s rice, bean and meat. I call all of that my favorite food.

My favorite vacation, whether they are Latin or not, are my room. If I had to choose a vacation, personally, speaking selfishly I’d choose my room.

My favorite Latin song, it’s almost impossible to pick just one, but there’s one that, in my opinion, encapsulates a lot, and maybe you might laugh, but Enrico Caruso’s “Una Furtiva Lagrima.” It’s in Italian, but it’s still Latin. I love that song. I think it’s one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard.

My favorite athlete is [Puerto Rican baseball legend] Roberto Clemente.

This was Vico C, and those were my five favorite Latin things.

Marshmello on Creating His First Latin Album, Working With Young Miko & More | Billboard News

Chart-topping DJ, producer and songwriter Marshmello talks about diving into Latin music; the process of creating his first Latin album, Sugar Papi; working with Young Miko; the success of his track “El Merengue” with Manuel Turizo and more!

Marshmello:
It was interesting. I kind of showed up to Miami to write this album and I was like, “I don’t really have anything prepared.” Part of my job, my main job, is on-the-spot creation.

Lyndsey Havens:
Yeah.

Marshmello:
Just making it, you know what I mean? Making it work. Yo, what’s up? It’s Marshmello and this is Billboard News.

Lyndsey Havens:
Hey, I’m Lyndsey Havens for Billboard News, and I’m here with the chart-topping, DJ, producer and songwriter Marshmello!

Marshmello:
What’s going on?

Lyndsey Havens:
What’s up, man?

Marshmello:
Chilling.

Lyndsey Havens:
You’re no stranger to our charts. We have a lot of firsts to talk about with you right now. You have a major label debut album coming out: Sugar Papi, first Latin album, first proper album, new artists on every song.

Marshmello:
First album, yeah, a major label album.

Lyndsey Havens:
Tell us a bit about how and when the idea for this album even came about.

Marshmello:
I’ve always been eager to kind of make a body of work. I wasn’t sure when the right time was. Sony Latin reached out to me and was like, “Hey, would you like to do a Latin album?” And I’d always wanted to tap into Latin music and it just seemed like a perfect time to first knock out the album that I’ve always wanted to do and Latin and everybody was so cool and so nice. It was a no-brainer.

Lyndsey Havens:
Did you ever think that Latin would be your first album?

Marshmello:
Even though I wasn’t putting out Latin songs, over the years, I just befriended so many people, so many Latin artists. I knew it would happen, I just wasn’t sure when and it was just kind of sent by the universe.

Lyndsey Havens:
Yeah. I mean, what conversations did you have with Sony Latin about the appetite for this right now?

Marshmello:
I wasn’t just gonna go and make this like, huge, every biggest artist in the world on a Latin album, like, I’m just gonna work with artists that I vibe with, and that I just like, genuinely like their music, you know? And so I think, like, you’ll see, like, on the tracklist and who I worked with, you’d be like, OK, like, just, like, a good vibe.
