Tate McRae
When Billboard on Instagram posts that top 10 picture and to see like my name beside like Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny is just like so next level. Yeah it feels very surreal what’s happening right now.

Tate McRae
Hey, my name is Tate McRae and today we’re gonna be climbing the charts, looking at how my music is charted and also my idols, how they’ve charted. I remember the day I was on a walk with my mom. And I remember I was like, oh my god, I’m No. 1 on like the Bubbling Under the Hot 100 chart. And I was like, this is the biggest day of my life. When “You Broke Me First” hit 17 it’s pretty wild, because I feel like I’ve just been watching my favorite artists of all time on that chart. And I think at first, I didn’t realize the capacity of what “You Broke Me First” had done until I actually like got to L.A. and realized that it had, you know, gotten to a specific spot and gotten that big. When I wrote “You Broke Me First” I was 16. I was like, I have put this song out. I really want to the first time I’d like film, my first ever like legit music video was with my friend. Like back in Calgary, on Video Star on my phone, it’s only two passes of the entire music video. It’s so crazy. It has like so many views now. And it’s so strange to just look back and see that it was literally made on an iPhone.

Billboard Music Awards Performer Profile: Mariah Carey | Billboard Music Awards 2023

Billboard announces Mariah Carey will be performing at the Billboard Music Awards 2023. Billboard runs through some of her biggest chart highlights.

Mariah Carey:
“Vision of Love” was my first No. 1 on the Hot 100. It was an amazing moment ’cause I never thought that song would be a big hit at all. To me, that wasn’t what was popular, that just something very different.

Tetris Kelly:
Mariah Carey has been a staple on the Billboard charts since her first single, “Vision of Love,” hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 1990. She is arguably the most impressive Hot 100 artist, with the most No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 for a solo artist, with 19 total.

Here are some of her other record-breaking No. 1 stats: She has the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 91 total. She is the female songwriter with the most Hot 100 hits, 18. She is the only artist to send her first five singles to No. 1 on the Hot 100. She had a record 11 consecutive years with at least one Hot 100 No. 1 hit from 1990 to 2000.

Mariah Carey:
Thank you, Billboard, for letting me grow up on the charts with you.

Tetris Kelly:
The Queen of Christmas is set to deliver the first-ever award show performance of “All I Want for Christmas Is You” on the 2023 Billboard Music Awards. And the song has a huge history on the Billboard charts, including these impressive stats: It became Mariah’s 19th Hot 100 No. 1 in 2019. It spent 12 total weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 over its lifetime. It’s only the second holiday song to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100, after “The Chipmunk Song” in 1958.

Mariah Carey is the queen of the Billboard Hot 100 and we can’t wait to see the icon hit the BBMA stage on Sunday.

Marshmello’s 5 Favorite Latin Things | Billboard

Marshmello tells Billboard all about his five favorite Latin things.

Marshmello:
Yo, what’s up? This is Marshmello, and here are five of my favorite Latin things.

My favorite Latin word I actually learned from working with Manuel. The word is “chimba.” And chimba means like, “that’s fire” or like, they use it a lot in the studio like, you know, “that’s sick,” “that’s fire” and I love it so I was always saying throughout the camp.

My favorite Latin dish would have to be paella. It is incredible and I love it.

My favorite Latin vacation — it was half vacation, half in the studio — was the Dominican Republic with Tokischa, that was really crazy and fun.

I would say my favorite Latin song would be “El Merengue” by Manuel Turizo, and this guy named Marshmello.

I would say my favorite Latin athlete, legend, who will forever be a legend is Messi.

Lady A on ‘Love You Back,’ Request Line Tour, Career Longevity & More | Billboard News

Country band Lady A talks about their single “Love You Back,” unique request line tour, 15-year career longevity, the recent surge in country music popularity, Charles opens up about being one year sober, and more.

Speaker
Can I have your attention please?

Stephen Daw
Of course they do it on a Monday. It works, gang, you did it. Good job.

Charles Kelley
How’s it going, everybody? This is Lady A.

Hillary Scott
And you’re watching Billboard News.

Stephen Daw
I’m very, very stoked about the new single. It’s so, so cool. Tell me a little bit about what went into writing this.

Hillary Scott
Well, this one, it’s actually a really cool story. So, you know, we write 80% of our own music. And then we learned early on in our career that you never say no to a great song, whether we write it or not. And so this was one that a really good friend of ours and co-writer, her name is Emily Weisband, sent this song to Charles.

Charles Kelly
So I called her up and I said, Hey, let’s find an hour, I want to come over. You play Hillary, I’ll play me. And let’s see if this fits before I even send to them. For sure. Just sometimes I just like to save some time and just see if something is even in the realm of our world. And it just felt so much like us. And the minute I sent it to the gang, they were like, “Oh, wow”. I mean, we’ve had a handful of songs like — most of the music from us, we’ve written like “Need You Now,” “Run to You” — but “American Honey” was one that we didn’t write. Sometimes you get songs that you feel. You’re like, y’all wrote this for us?

Hillary Scott
And that’s what it felt like, yeah.

Drake’s hitting the road with a new tour partner. Taylor Swift brings her man to Argentina and continues to dominate the charts. Troye Sivan gets the ‘SNL’ treatment. Morgan Wallen is set to take the BBMAs stage.

Welcome to another week of Billboard News. I’m Tetris Kelly. It’s Monday, November 13th, and we’re kicking things off with Taylor Swift’s time in Argentina.

Big weekend for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce fans, as she changes her lyrics, and they share some sweet PDA. She also addresses fans throwing gifts onstage. This is Tetris Kelly reporting for your Eras Tour update.

How sweet! In a viral clip we’ve seen from multiple angles, Taylor Swift ran up to boyfriend Travis Kelce after her show and gave him a kiss. The Chiefs player flew all the way to Argentina to catch her Eras Tour, where multiple fans caught him vibing in the crowd with Taylor’s dad. Taylor even shouted him out from the stage, changing her lyrics in “Karma” to say “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me,” as the internet, her dancers and even Travis fell apart. And lastly, Taylor’s mostly avoided things being thrown at her but now that it’s happened, she addressed the crowd.

Taylor Swift:
“It really freaks me out when stuff gets thrown on the stage because if it’s on the stage, then a dancer can trip on it. I love that you brought presents and that is so nice but just can you please not throw them on the stage? I love you so much.”
