Mariah Carey Shares Her Favorite Billboard Music Awards Moment & More | Billboard Music Awards 2023

Mariah Carey shares her favorite Billboard Music Awards moment, her upcoming Merry Christmas One and All tour, how she felt when her hit “Vision of Love” became her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and more at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards Presented by Marriott Bonvoy.

What is your favorite BBMAs memory?

Mariah Carey
Okay, well my favorite BBMAs memory is when I won Artist of the Decade and I gave this kind of like off the cuff speech that it was just one of my favorite times at any award show anywhere ever. That was a good one.

What can fans expect from your upcoming tour?

Mariah Carey
I’m mainly performing holiday songs, but I am also performing non-holiday songs because we have to be festive all throughout the year. So I’m excited. I got rehearsal tomorrow and everybody’s getting ready and we’re off.

“Vision of Love” was your first #1 on the Hot 100. Do you remember when it went to #1 and how did you celebrate?

Mariah Carey
Yes, “Vision of Love” was my first No. 1 on the Hot 100. And I think I didn’t really understand the magnitude of that. At that time. I’m pretty sure I celebrated. It’s a little bit blurry. Yeah, it was a it was an amazing moment because I never thought that song would be a big hit at all. That was not to me that wasn’t what was popular. That’s just something very different. And so yay, “Vision of Love.”

Lexus Offers a Lucky Fan the Best Seat at the Billboard Music Awards 2023 | Billboard Music Awards 2023

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards Presented by Marriott Bonvoy were given a makeover, taking place in custom venues across the globe, and Lexus gave one lucky fan the best seat in the house to her favorite performer.

Karen:
Billboard Music Awards were reimagined to give fans access to exclusive performances. I have the best seat in the house. My name is Karen. I’m a mother, a Los Angeles native and a music super fan. Style is very important for me. I know my look is complete when I feel confident and I look good. I’m ready for the show. Oh my God that car is so fire!

I’m Mexican and Cuban. So music for me is a way to connect to my culture. And it’s even more special when an event like the Billboard Music Awards brings out huge artists to perform. Live music in Los Angeles is huge. There’s performances almost every night. Balancing work and motherhood can be hard sometimes. So having an adult like this is very important to me. And thanks to Lexus I was able to experience the best seat at the BBMAs.

Tate McRae on The Success of “Greedy,” Her Favorite BBMAs Moment & More | Billboard Music Awards 2023

Tate McRae opens up about the success of her song “Greedy,” the relationship she has with her fans, remembers her favorite Billboard Music Awards moment and more. The 2023 Billboard Music Awards are presented by Marriott Bonvoy.

Tate McRae:
I think that’s dedication.

How is your relationship with your fans?

Tate McRae:
I feel like I’m really close to my fans. I feel like we just have a very, like, close friend vibe. They’re always, like, whenever I do performances, and I see them, I see a lot of the same people at these kinds of performances, and I feel like they just, like, make me so comfortable and calm, and it’s just the best feeling when I get to look at them and sing with them.

Why do you think “Greedy” resonated so much with your audience?

Tate McRae:
I don’t think people really expected me to release a song like this. I didn’t expect me to release it. I mean, I was deciding for forever on what song I wanted to come back from, like, a 10-month break from. And I think also, people weren’t expecting me to dance like I did in the music video. And I think it was just a little shocking, but it also just feels like a switch-up in my personality. And I think my fans are ready to see, like, a more confident, like, bad–s side of me. And yeah, it just feels very exciting starting the album, with that kind of energy, going into it.

Do you have a favorite Billboard Music Awards memory?

Tate McRae:
I am a big fan of The Weeknd. And anytime he performs, I’m a huge fan, but one of his best performances, I would say was the one with all the cars behind him and he was doing “Save Your Tears.” It was such a good show. But I also just, like, love him and all of his performances

Karol G Talks Her BBMAs Performance, Performing in Stadiums & More | Billboard Music Awards 2023

Karol G talks about performing in stadiums, the thinking behind her BBMAs performance, reveals what she has been streaming this year and more. The 2023 Billboard Music Awards are presented by Marriott Bonvoy.

What music did you stream the most this year?

Karol G:
Wow, that’s a good one. Coldplay. I was listening a lot to U2. This year, I listened more to Lana Del Rey. I don’t know why I connected with, like, I’m really spiritual this year. So I’m trying to know lyrics and music and have been listening to lyrics and music that connected more with my soul. Because this year, it’s kind of rare for me. I started looking backwards to the music. I used to listen before a lot like I’m more in baladas and pop. And I don’t know, Karol G. I love my music, and some of my old songs, remember my process when I started and where I’m right now, and it’s really beautiful. Yeah.

Tell us the significance of your music being recognized by the Billboard Music Awards this year.

Karol G:
This year has been really special for me. This album is the most intimate and special in my career. I wrote these songs about really special moments and confident moments in my life. Confident, really. But even with the tour, I’m like, “Wow!” It’s the first time that I’m doing stadiums tour. It’s the first time that a Latina singer is doing a stadium tour like Selena Quintanilla. That is something that she couldn’t finish. I remember when I sit down and start thinking about this tour, I really wanted it to be in the level. You know? Like, I want people to see that Karol G can do stadiums tour and I’m ready and I’m prepared and I can bring, like, experience instead of just a show or an entertainment moment. It’s just like an experience that you go and you share energy and love and tears and happiness.
