Gail Mitchell:Hi, this is Gail Mitchell, executive director of R&B and hip-hop for Billboard magazine, and I’m so excited. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this woman, but this is one of the timeless voices of music — Grammy Award-winning singer Brandy.

Here you are with a Christmas album. The very first one, really, and a movie as well — Christmas With Brandy. I can’t believe it is your first holiday.

Brandy:Yes, I can’t believe it either. Because I love Christmas and I love Christmas carols, and so I can’t believe it’s my first one.

Gail Mitchell:How did you make a Christmas album? A Brandy album.

Brandy:Well, I’ve had a great team of people to work with me producers, nephew. One of the writers is Sebastian Kole, Tatiana Clark, India Kearney. I just had a really good team around me. And they really helped me put my own spin on the classics and helped me put together some originals that I’m really proud of.

Intak from P1Harmony:I want to … I want to get some new Lego.

Rania Aniftos:That’s good one.

Intak from P1Harmony:Yeah, kinda like Christmas vibes. I want to get some, like, kind of Disney Legos. Something like Mickey Mouse or something.

Rania Aniftos:Oh, that’s cute. I love that. I love that.

Paul Russell:I’m going back home to Texas for a little bit, which will be fun. No, I’m pumped about it.

Jack Met of AJR:We don’t do gifts for each other but … maybe this year we’re gonna finally start. What do you think?

E-40:I feel good, man. I really feel good. I’m happy. I’m in a happy space. God is great.

Carl Lamarre:This year … 50 years of hip-hop. You’ve been celebrating a lot of wins, but I’m just curious: Overall, what does 50 years of hip-hop mean to you?

E-40Um, it means everything. They didn’t think to get this far, you know? Now it’s the No. 1 genre of music. Hip-hop, man, you see it in commercials, you see it in movies, you see it everywhere. It’s all related to sports and entertainment, and from the urban community. And look at it now! It even became even suburbian — it’s everywhere like air. You can’t get away from it, man! Fifty years — shoutout to … Kool Herc and the founders of hip-hop. Thank you!
