Four long years after the culture-shifting debut of Black Panther, its sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, took over Hollywood on Wednesday night (Oct. 26) for its world premiere. There was one major piece missing, though, in Chadwick Boseman’s absence, as the cast and crew talked about moving forward without him.
Ryan Coogler, who returned to co-write and direct the sequel, rewrote his original premise following Boseman’s death in August 2020, noting that “the best way I got through was leaning on my collaborators.”
“Chadwick had people who were in his life creatively, as well as family, and we were in close contact with those people, very close specifically with his wife, Simone, and his creative partner Logan Coles,” Coogler — who wore a gold chain featuring Boseman’s image on the carpet — told The Hollywood Reporter of consulting the late star’s loved ones during that rewrite. “We were staying tapped in with them as much as we could, and it gave us the space to create, but obviously we were seeking out their opinion all the time. We’re looking forward to sharing it with everybody.”
The cast also came together to support each other on set, as star Danai Gurira noted that the grief particularly hit her when walking into T’Challa’s throne room, where Boseman sat in the first film. “I hadn’t seen that throne since we had lost him, so the last time I had seen that throne he had been sitting in it,” she said.
Angela Bassett, who plays T’Challa’s mother, Queen Ramonda, had to be the one to “sit on that throne and fill it. It was very daunting, it was very important. We all held it in great reverence,” she said, while also revealing that the cast visited Boseman’s resting place before they started shooting.
“We were able to do that to give love and feel his spirit and stand there with him before we did one frame of anything,” Bassett said. “That was such an important grounding for us because, as you can imagine, emotion was all over the place. People are on the verge — his [onscreen] sister, his love, his general, all of us. I’m getting goosebumps now. We were on the verge of tears, of ‘How are we going to do this, go on without him?’”
“We did with our full hearts, our full effort and really seeking to honor our brother,” Gurira added. “We can just hope and pray that it’s received that way and that people have an experience with it as a result of that.”
Another major story surrounding the film is that Rihanna will debut new music on its soundtrack, marking her first recording since 2016 with single “Lift Me Up.” Coogler said for this film they were “looking for artists who would embody it thematically,” similar to the success he had with Kendrick Lamar on the first Black Panther. Rihanna, who will be headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show next year, was at the top of the list.
“Rihanna, man, we knew she was at a point in her life as well where she was focusing on different things — focused on business, motherhood, which is a big theme in our film. We were holding out hope that maybe it could work out and boy did it for this song,” Coogler teased. “I can’t wait for people to hear it.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever sees the return of stars Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke, in a story of Wakanda following the death of King T’Challa and the crowning of a new Black Panther. Michaela Coel and Tenoch Huerta join as newcomers to the world, with Huerta as Marvel mutant Namor.
With a character who spends much of his time underwater, Huerta had to learn to swim for the role and has been flattered to see the internet’s (frequently thirsty) reaction to his shirtless appearance. “It feels so good. The people are giving their love and their passion,” he said. “All of them are embracing the character and are embracing all the narratives behind it.”
And while Black Panther broke box office records and made history with a best picture Oscar nomination, Bassett and husband Courtney B. Vance have some bold predictions for the sequel.
“He says the second is going to be better than the first, it’s going to be greater than the first,” Bassett said of Vance, though he hadn’t yet seen the film. “Reading the script, the attention to detail that Ryan as director and co-writer with Joe Robert Cole put into this and just trying to get it right — What is the story that we want to tell? Where do we want to go? Who is carrying this world on when your heart is destroyed? The mothers. I think they did an excellent job.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters Nov. 11.

Episode 5 of season 8 celebrated “Muppets Night,” and some of our favorite furry characters where in the house, including Miss Piggy, who teamed up with the judges.
For the serious business, Robo Girl went up against the trio Lambs for an all-female battle, in which both contestants hit Blondie’s “Call Me.”
The Lambs won, and progress to episode 6. Robo Girl’s helmet came off to reveal Kat Graham, the singer and Vampire Diaries actor.
“This was an amazing opportunity. Thank-you guys so much, so much fun…this was unreal,” she enthuses. It certainly was, with Miss Piggy looking on.
The Beetle performed Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight,” and did a stellar job, according to Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, who guessed right. The man behind the mask was former talk-show host Jerry Springer.
“You’re an amazing singer and dancer, let me put that out there. You’re very, very good,” she says.“You’re a natural crooner,” chimes in Nicole Scherzinger.
Springer, whose Jerry Springer Show aired from 1991 to 2018, is happy with the mic in his hand.
“When I sing, seriously, people get involved because they have to guess where the notes were supposed to have been. It’s like interactive,” he explains following the reveal.
Why did he choose to be the Beetle? “There’s so many things going on in the world, to be able to do something that’s just fun and silly and whatever, I appreciate it.”
Graham and Springer join Gloria Gaynor (Mermaid), Mario Cantone (Maize), Daymond John (Fortune Teller), the “Brady boys” Mike Lookinland, Barry Williams and Christopher Knight (Mummies), Montell Jordan (Panther), Jeff Dunham (Pi-Rat), Chris Kirkpatrick (Hummingbird), Eric Idle (Hedgehog) and William Shatner (Knight) as the celebrities eliminated from the current season of The Masked Singer.
Season 8 of TMS rings in the changes, with several big tweaks to its format.
For the first time, each episode features a completely new round of masked celebs with only one contestant moving forward by the end of the hour. Plus, the audience votes in-studio for their favorite performance of the night, and the singer with the lowest tally will then unmask in the middle of the show before taking his or her place in the new Masked Singer VIP section to watch the rest of the episode.
As season 22 of The Voice continues to heat up, coaches Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Camila Cabello and John Legend have had to task members of their team to battle it out to songs of their choice. The final set of battles occurred on Tuesday night’s (Oct. 25) episode, which saw Legend pitting his team members Omar Jose Cardona and Lana Love against each other for a performance that, according to him, was inspired by his and Chrissy Teigen’s daughter, Luna.
As the pair rehearsed the track Legend chose for them — “Into the Unknown” from the Frozen 2 soundtrack — with Jazmine Sullivan as their celebrity advisor, he shared, “As a father of a 6-year-old girl, I’m very familiar. This one’s a classic.”
Come performance time, the pair did the theatrical Disney tune justice. They passionately sang the second verse in tandem: “Everyone I’ve ever loved is here within these walls/ I’m sorry, secret siren, but I’m blocking out your calls/ I’ve had my adventure, I don’t need something new/ I’m afraid of what I’m risking if I follow you,” Cardona and Love took turns belting, before launching into the titular chorus.
After Legend’s fellow coaches provided their critique — which largely saw three other coaches marveling at how Broadway-ready Cardona and Love’s voices are — he provided his thoughts on the battle and gave his decision.
“Lana, I just love your passion, the way you move your body when you sing. And everyone’s right — you should be on Broadway right now. You have the voice for it,” the “All of Me” singer shared. “Omar, I’ve never heard anyone sing like you, dude. You’re not just singing, you’re giving the physical performance, you’re getting into it. I like the way you even toss the mic to yourself. You just felt confident, in control. Just know that both of you, it was phenomenal to watch and just inspiring for us, honestly.”
Fans will have to stay tuned to see who kept their spot on Team Legend. Watch Cardona and Love’s performance of “Into the Unknown” below.
Wynonna Judd is set to pay tribute to a special concert moment she shared with her mother and The Judds partner, Naomi Judd, during The Judds 1991 Farewell Tour.
The Country Music Hall of Fame member will welcome Ashley McBryde, Brandi Carlile, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town and Martina McBride on Nov. 3 when she headlines The Judds: Love Is Alive – The Final Concert in Murfreesboro, Tenn., at Middle Tennessee State University’s Murphy Center, the same venue where the Judds played their final show together on Dec. 4, 1991, as part of their farewell tour that year. The concert was filmed for a pay-per-view show.
CMT and Sandbox Productions will film the upcoming concert, with plans to air it as a television special in March 2023 on CMT. Additional special guests are still to be announced.
The event will also mark the largest concert to take place at the Murphy Center since The Judds held their final show together at the venue nearly 31 years ago. Tickets for the event go on sale Wednesday (Oct. 26) beginning at 2 p.m. CT.
“Stepping onstage at the Murphy Center for the first time since Dec. 4, 1991, will be so surreal for me. It was an emotional night over 30 years ago, and will be an emotional night — for different reasons — now,” Wynonna said in a statement. “I can’t wait to lean into the nostalgia with the artists who have made this tour so special, and recreate one of the most iconic nights in Judd ‘Herstory!’”
“It’s serendipitous magic on so many levels to be able to capture Wynonna’s return to the Murphy Center, almost exactly 31 years to the date. And it’s especially meaningful as an MTSU alum to produce such a landmark event, working hand in hand with the university’s faculty and staff to have their students actively participate in the production in its entirety,” said Margaret Comeaux, CMT’s executive producer & senior vp of production, music & events. “We are also extremely excited to collaborate once again with our amazing partners at Sandbox to present a true Judds event spectacular that has been decades in the making, and continue to tell the next chapter in Wynonna’s story.”
“I remember when I was 15 years old, watching The Judds 1991 Farewell Concert on repeat when it first came out on Pay-Per-View. This is such an incredible, full circle moment to reproduce that same iconic special with Wy, and having her joined by all the powerhouse women she has brought with her on tour,” said Sandbox Productions’ Jason Owen, executive producer. “I’m so excited for everyone to watch – and for the incredible legacy of The Judds to live on forever.”
“What is most compelling about the Judds’ music is that it captures the love between two women. The Murphy Center event will allow us all to celebrate that love. After all, it was love that built a bridge between the Judds and their audience,” added Beverly Keel, dean of the college of media and entertainment, MTSU. “It is love that connects the family of country music females and strengthens them as they work to make their voices heard.”
Earlier this week, it was revealed that The Judds: The Final Tour will extend into 2023, with a slate of additional shows, welcoming McBryde, Carlile, Ballerini, Little Big Town and McBride on select dates. The tour will visit Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Friday, Oct. 28, featuring McBride and Trisha Yearwood.
Wynonna’s mother and The Judds partner Naomi died in April at age 76, just one day before The Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Peak Whitney Houston was impossible to beat.
Clearly Andrew Igbokidi and Zach Newbould read the memo when they engaged in a Battle Tuesday night (Oct. 25) for NBC’s The Voice.
The Team Camila singers went to work with Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” steering it into different territory. The pair stripped it down, creating a midtempo number with few clues to the shiny ‘80s original.
“Zach your voice really shined,” enthuses Gwen Stefani. “It was like an alternative sounding voice in a pop song. I like the contrast of that.”

Igbokidi, she comments, had great range and unexpected runs. “And you are very beautiful, it was stunning when you came out.”
John Legend also picked up on Igbokidi knack for “very cool” unexpected vocal flurries. “You have an interesting approach to music.” His rival, however, is “more consistently on point” with “really lovely” tone. “It was really well executed”
Blake Shelton cut to the chase. Nerves got the better of Igbokidi. “Andrew, almost felt like something was holding you back,” he remarks. “I just think you’re better than what happened here today.” Newbould delivered best in this “tall task,” he admits.
Cabello went deeper on Igbokidi’s stumbles. “I think that your hypercriticism of yourself is keeping you from accessing the freedom and the fun to go to that next level. But the talent is there.”
However, Newbould stepped up under the bright lights. And he did it consistently.
Cabello had a decision to make. Her pick, like Igbokidi’s runs, was most unexpected.

Blake Shelton gave his Voice contestants a tough battle on Monday night (Oct. 24), as Hillary Torchiana and Kevin Hawkins went head-to-head on fellow coach John Legend‘s 2019 hit, “Preach.”

The duo traded impressive belts and notes as they performed the track, leading to a standing ovation from Legend himself. “I love it. Thank you for singing my song. I felt your passion, I felt your love,” he told the contestants, before ultimately picking Hawkins as his personal pick to win the battle.
But the decision came down to Coach Shelton, who was visibly stuck on having to choose between two incredibly talented singers. “Well, my first thought is these guys did an incredible job of sticking to the plan and representing the song and giving it what it needed,” he said, noting that Hillary had a “tall glass to go up against” Kevin.
“I mean, he’s unbelievable, but so are you,” Shelton said. “I’m completely shocked at the way you stepped up to the plate. You took all my notes, you walked up here and gave it, I feel like, 100% of what you had to give it. Kevin, you also gave 100% of what you had to give for this performance. Even though that was 100%, I still don’t think we’ve seen your full potential. And, man, that’s saying a lot because that was obviously an incredible performance.”
Shelton ultimately ended up picking Hawkins, to help him live up to his full musical potential. Watch the full performance below.
The Television Academy has announced the 26th Hall of Fame class: entertainer Rita Moreno, choreographer and actress Debbie Allen, documentarian Ken Burns, BET founder Robert L. Johnson, CBS executive Bob Daly and cinematographer Donald A. Morgan.
Two of these honorees had already received honorary awards from the Television Academy. Moreno was awarded a “Televisionary Award” in 2008. Allen received a Governors Award just last year.
The Hall of Fame event is set to take place Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Television Academy’s Saban Media Center in North Hollywood, Calif. In addition to the induction of the 2022 Hall of Fame recipients, the event will include the presentation of the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award to actor/director/activist Sean Penn and the unveiling of new busts of four previous inductees.
“These legendary performers, creators, craftspeople and television executives are luminaries in our industry,” Frank Scherma, chairman and CEO of the Television Academy, said in a statement. “Their work has influenced and immeasurably elevated the current television landscape and culture. We are proud to induct these trailblazers into the Hall of Fame and honored to celebrate their extraordinary contributions to our industry.”
“This year’s honorees have told the American story through television in ways that will forever shape our history and culture,” said Rick Rosen, Hall of Fame selection committee chair (who is also WME co-founder and head of television). “Whether they reshaped the industry itself through visionary leadership or created pieces of work that have had a lasting legacy, these individuals will forever be remembered for the impact they’ve had on the medium.”
The 2022 Hall of Fame honorees join more than 150 individuals previously inducted into the Hall of Fame since its inception in 1984. The honors were presented every year from 1984 to 1993, but the Academy has skipped 13 years since then for various reasons. This is the first induction class since 2019.
In addition to Rosen, this year’s Hall of Fame selection committee included Marcy Carsey, Emmy-winning producer; Pearlena Igbokwe, chairman of Universal Studio Group; Peter Roth, former chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group; Nina Tassler, co-chief executive officer of PatMa Productions; and Dana Walden, chairman of Disney General Entertainment Content.
The Academy will honor Sean Penn with the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his decades of activism – even though the outspoken liberal Penn and the staunchly conservative Hope would have probably agreed on little politically. The award was established in 2002 to honor an individual whose philanthropic efforts exemplify Bob Hope’s decades-long altruistic efforts. The award is presented by the Television Academy’s board of governors, in conjunction with the Bob & Dolores Hope Foundation.
“Sean’s activism and immense humanitarian efforts have had a profound impact on the global community, and he has effectively used his platform to motivate change,” said Kim Coleman, co-chair of the Humanitarian Award selection committee. “Sean is responsible for getting help to people who need it the most. From Haiti to Ukraine to Los Angeles, he is an inspiration to us all,” said the other co-chair, Michael Spiller. Both Coleman and Spiller are Television Academy governors.
Prior to the induction ceremony, the Academy will unveil four new busts of previous inductees – all women, we might add – in the Hall of Fame sculpture garden. They are screenwriter/producer/author Shonda Rhimes, actress/comedian/producer Julia Louis Dreyfus, comedian/actress/television host Joan Rivers and journalist/producer/author Katie Couric.
Here’s a complete list of the new honorees.

How to Watch & Stream the 2022 World Series
All games in the 2022 World Series will broadcast live on Fox and on MLB.TV. And there are multiple ways to watch, or stream, games live and on-demand.
For starters, a TV antenna might be one of the easiest ways to watch Fox, but if you have cable or satellite, check your local listings for channel information to watch the series beginning Friday.
On a tighter budget and don’t have cable or local channels? Streaming providers are a nice option. When it comes to sports, Fubo TV, YouTube TV, Sling TV, DirecTV Stream, Hulu + Live TV and Vidgo all have affordable streaming plans.
Baseball fans who join DirecTV Stream, Vidgo or Fubo TV will receive a free trial for up to a week, while Sling TV and Hulu + Live TV offer budget-friendly plans ranging from around $20-$70 a month (and ExpressVPN allows you to stream from outside of the U.S.).
Where to Buy Tickets to the 2022 World Series
There’s no shame in watching the World Series from home, but nothing compares to seeing the action in person! Be prepared to spend at least $600 though, and that’s on the low end of the price spectrum.
Tickets to World Series games in Philadelphia are priced at more than $3,000 — the second-highest rate in a decade, per CNBC.
World Series tickets are available at Ticketmaster, Vivid Seats, SeatGeek and StubHub, but prices vary depending on the ticketing outlet and the date and location. For example, passes for Game 1 start at $621 on Ticketmaster, compared to $567 on Ticketsmarter and $560 on Vivid Seats, while other games might have a higher price point despite being later in the series.
2022 World Series Tickets
$from $560
According to a tweet from SportsCenter’s Kevin Negandhi, Vivid Seats expects Game 4 to be the “hottest World Series tickets since 2017” (the Astros won the World Series that year). Tickets for Game 4 start at $1,133 on Vivid Seats and $763 on Ticketmaster (fans can also visit MLB.com to register for tickets).
A possible Game 7 could send prices up even higher — especially for Phillies fans, as 2022 marks the first time that the team has made it to the World Series in over a decade (the Phillies won championship titles in 1980 and 2008). The Astros, meanwhile, have advanced to the World Series four times in the last six years and won once.

She’s a mastermind! A Philadelphia traffic reporter gave an on-air accounting of her city’s roadways on Monday (Oct. 24) with so many Midnights references, it would have made Taylor Swift proud.
“Lets start down the shore,” Sheila Watko of NBC Philadelphia began. “Right now there’s no ‘Snow on the Beach,’ also no traffic on the Garden State Parkway. So that’s the good news. Unfortunately, I do also have to bring you the bad news, that’s kind of ‘The Great War’ of working in the traffic center — I’m the traffic ‘Anti-Hero.’”
After telling viewers about potential delays due to construction on one major thoroughfare, she warned, “Make sure to give yourself a little extra time, you don’t want to be thinking, ‘Ugh, ‘Would’ve Could’ve, Should’ve’ left a little earlier and avoided getting stuck in this backup,” as one of the anchors off screen began laughing and clapping at her ingenuity.
From there, Watko stepped it up a notch, dropping track names in rapid-fire succession. “This is not a ‘Glitch,’ Lucy,” she said. “Looking great out there, ‘Sweet Nothing’ in both directions. This is our ‘Karma’ for dealing with that earlier construction … for dealing with an earlier vehicle fire. And if we take a wide look at the area, you’re gonna see that most of our map is actually ‘Bejeweled‘ with these green roads.
“But this map is very fickle,” the traffic reporter continued. “After six o’clock, we’re gonna get a lot of ‘High Infidelity,’ gonna see a lot more red on this map … Right now, a camera shot like this, looking clear, that just ‘Hits Different.’ It looks great. But give this about 20 minutes, delays are gonna be ‘Bigger Than the [Whole] Sky.’ This map is gonna be looking so red, it’ll almost be ‘Maroon.’”
Turning her attention to South Philly, where a Smashing Pumpkins concert was taking place at the Wells Fargo Center, Watko then rattled off references to “Labyrinth,” “You’re on Your Own, Kid,” “Dear Reader” and “Vigilante Shit” before ending with her own shoutout to Swift, saying, “There’s no ‘Question…?’ that it’s red October. However, I am in a ‘Lavender Haze’ today because the ‘Mastermind’ Taylor Swift, she released Midnights!”
