Sam Smith raised a quite a few eyebrows earlier this week when they revealed on The Kelly Clarkson Show that Ed Sheeran had gifted the “Unholy” singer a six-foot marble penis statue. But in a Thursday (Oct. 13) appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the “Bad Habits” singer took the chance to explain himself, and revealed that none other than Elton John and Eminem had played important parts in inspiring the peculiar present.

Though Sheeran also spoke on The Late Show about meeting the queen and his upcoming North American tour, the very first thing Colbert wanted to know about was the statue. More specifically — why?

After revealing that the custom monument weighed in at “two and a half tons,” the musician offered the unexpected — but not altogether surprising — context behind his gift, which Smith previously revealed to Clarkson they’d been inspired by Bridgerton to name the “Duke of Hastings.” “Elton John has been involved in my career from the get-go, and he buys me weird gifts,” Sheeran began. I can’t talk about them on TV — but, like, odd gifts. Sexual sort of objects …I love you, Elton.”

“He is very proud of the fact that Eminem bought him and his husband, David, diamond-encrusted c–k rings for their wedding,” he continued, with a flabbergasted Colbert removing his glasses in astonishment. “I’m like, I need to one-up this, I need to get Elton a present that’s gonna make him go, ‘Oh my god.’”

That’s when inspiration struck the four-time Grammy winner, who proceeded to order “a few different iterations” of penis sculptures. “I gave it to him for his birthday, and Elton was over the moon about it,” Sheeran chuckled. “It got out in the press that I’d done it. And people would just be like, ‘Can I have one?’ Sam saw one of them and said, ‘Can I have one?’”

“And I said, ‘What would you like?’ and Sam said, ‘One the size of me — six foot two,’” he concluded. “So … there we go. That’s it.”

Earlier this week, Blake Shelton revealed that after the next season of The Voice, he will be leaving the show. Now, fellow coach John Legend is opening up about the country superstar’s exit and his own future on the show.

“Well, you know, he’s been doing the show for 22 seasons, it’ll be 23 when he’s done, and you can’t do something forever,” Legend told ET. “We’re gonna miss him though. He’s been the heart and soul and anchor of the show for a long time, and he’s a friend of mine, and I really enjoy working with him.”

He added that “we’re all going to miss him.”

Legend is also not returning next season, as he’s set to tour in support of his newest album Legend and will soon be a father of three. “My family’s growing, I have a new album out, I’m gonna do a little bit of touring, and so it’s probably better that I take a break,” he explained. “We took a break last season because we had another show in our slot that the network tried — and I thought that was gonna happen this season, but it ended up that they wanted us back…but I’ll be back on The Voice, just not this coming season.”

Shelton took to Twitter on Tuesday (Oct. 11) to announce his The Voice exit after season 23. “This show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me,” Shelton wrote in a statement. “It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people, you are the best. It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week.”

He continued, “I’ve made lifelong bonds with Carson and every single one of my fellow coaches over the years, including my wife Gwen Stefani!”

NBC revealed its coaches for season 23, which includes Shelton and The Voice veteran Kelly Clarkson. Newcomers Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper will also join the judges panel.

Move over, hot girl summer — here comes hot girl SNL. Just two days away from making her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live, Megan Thee Stallion recorded a reel of hilarious teasers with cast member Heidi Gardner, who promises that this Saturday (Oct. 15) will entail “a real hot girl SNL.”
In the Thursday (Oct. 14) teaser video, the rapper tries introducing herself as this weekend’s host and musical performer several times to get the perfect take — but Gardner makes it a little difficult. “What’s up y’all. It’s Megan Thee Stallion, aka the Hot Girl Coach, and I will be the musical guest and host this week on SNL,” Meg says.

“It’s going to be an awesome show, all we have to do is write it,” Gardner adds.

An astonished Meg asks, “We got people working on that, right?”

In another take, Gardner jokingly tries to steal Meg’s thunder. “I’m Heidi THEE Gardner, and I’ll be there as well,” the comedian says, making the “Plan B” rapper frown.

“Don’t do that,” Meg tells her.

Finally, the two ladies come together. “Let me tell you, it’s going to be a real ‘Hot Girl’ SNL!” Gardner declares.

“OK, Heidi!” a grinning Meg replies, before sticking out her tongue to do her signature “Ah!”

“Woah, how do you do that?” Gardner asks, trying — and failing — to do it herself. But because she’s the Hot Girl Coach, Meg is encouraging anyway. “Yeah!” she tells Gardner.

The Grammy winner’s teasers with Gardner follow a previous trailer she filmed with another SNL cast member, Sarah Sherman. In the Wednesday (Oct. 12) skit, Meg hilariously breaks the news to Sherman, who’s obliviously spent the entire work day without any clothes on, that her “whole WAP is out.”

This Saturday will mark the “Sweetest Pie” artist’s first time hosting SNL, though she made her musical guest debut back in 2020 when she performed her hits “Savage” and “Don’t Stop.” This time around, she’ll most likely play tracks from her August-released sophomore album Traumazine, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

The best battles on The Voice are more like well-orchestrated duets than knock-down, drag-out fights, and in the face-off between bodie and Jaeden Luke — premiering exclusively on Billboard below before airing in full Monday night — the duo are in perfect harmony.
The battle reimagines Justin Bieber‘s decade-old song “As Long as You Love Me,” featuring Big Sean, as an acoustic, lovelorn duet, leaving the 2012 Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit’s synth and hip-hop elements behind.

Both bodie and Luke are on Team Blake, and this battle will determine who moves forward in the competition. But there is a world where both men could advance, if one of the other three coaches (Camila Cabello, Gwen Stefani or John Legend) decide to steal a singer for their team.

It looks like the guys’ best chance will be Cabello, who admitted to getting pretty “hot and flustered” by the track’s “sexy arrangement.”

“Well, it is my team,” Blake Shelton quipped in response.

Cabello had kind things to say about both singers — especially Jaeden, whom she jokingly called “my boyfriend” after they had a flirtatious meeting during his blind audition. “Jaeden, your tone is so beautiful. I want to hear it in my ear,” she said, quickly adding: “I’m just kidding. I’m joking. That was a joke. I want to hear it on a record. I think you as an artist, as the whole package, is special.”

For Bodie, Cabello said, “You were even better than I remember in your blind. Your runs were crazy, then your belts were masterful. You were flawless.”

She also let it be known that she would “steal both of you,” regardless of who Shelton chooses.

So who will he choose? You’ll have to tune in to NBC at 8 p.m. ET on Monday night to find out, but you can watch the full performance and coaches’ comments below:

The Voice contestant Nolan Neal died due to a fatal overdose involving fentanyl, according to a spokesperson from the Davidson County Medical Examiner’s office.

The late singer, who was vocal about his struggle with substance abuse, was pronounced dead at age 41 after being found in his apartment on July 18.

A spokesperson told Page Six that the singer suffered “acute combined drug toxicity.” In addition to fentanyl, morphine, methamphetamine and acetyl fentanyl were also present in Neal’s bloodstream, according to his autopsy report.

The member of the rock band Hinder shared that he relapsed after joining, citing his own internal pressures to fit in with the members. The singer also revealed he was battling substance abuse during his time on The Voice in an interview with WBIR in 2020. “I remember I got clean in 2010; May 15, went to rehab. Stayed clean,” Neal told WBIR in July 2020. “I joined the rock band Hinder, they were all about drinking and partying.”

Nolan also gained popularity on America’s Got Talent, appearing on season 15 and wooing audiences with his live performance of single “Send Me a Butterfly.”

Both The Voice and America’s Got Talent expressed their condolences to Neal’s family on social media. “We are heartbroken by the passing of Nolan Neal,” the shows’ statement read. “His incredible talent will always be remembered. Our sincerest sympathy goes out to his family and friends during this time.”

America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell also expressed his condolences in an interview with People. “Unfortunately, it happens too much over the years. I was thinking about this the other day. People [who] passed too soon,” said Cowell. “Every time it happens, because you’ve gotten to know them, it’s horrible.”

In the new book The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, the show’s creators and producers discuss the Hollywood heavy-hitters who could have been on the cast — including Selena Gomez.

Big Bang Theory executive producer Steve Molaro revealed that the producers approached the Only Murders in the Building star several times. Before it was established that Amy (Mayim Bialik)’s parents were still together, Molaro had “kicked around an idea that Amy had been complaining about her awful stepsister,” who would be played by Gomez and be “beautiful and great and everyone loves her.” However, things never worked out due to scheduling conflicts.

Kelly Clarkson may be a queen of daytime talk shows, but now she’s also queen of the night. For the latest installment of The Kelly Clarkson Show‘s Kellyoke series, the three-time Grammy winner showed off her voice by covering a song by the “Voice” herself, Whitney Houston‘s “Queen of the Night.”

Clarkson and her band, Y’all, started by putting their own twist on Houston’s rocking dance hit, which was originally released on the soundtrack for her 1992 film The Bodyguard. While the late legend’s original mix starts out with an immediately uptempo beat, Clarkson sang the first lines slowly over suspended chords, backup singers dramatically echoing her with each lyric.

Then, the lights started flashing, the drums began pounding, and the “Stronger” singer went full Whitney mode — taking lines up the octave, sprinkling in sky-high riffs and belting long notes with show-stopping force.

“I’ve got more than enough to make you drop to your knees/ Cause I’m the queen of the night, oh yeah,” she sang, leading seamlessly into an epic electric guitar solo.

With a Billboard Pop Airplay chart peak of No. 17, “Queen of the Night” is one of several hits recorded by Houston as part of The Bodyguard‘s soundtrack. Also on the album are 14-week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “I Will Always Love You” and No. 4s “I Have Nothing” and “I’m Every Woman.” The Grammy-winning soundtrack itself topped the Billboard 200 for a whopping 20 weeks in 1992, the year the film debuted, and remained on the chart for 176 weeks total.

The grown-ish actress’ casting in the lead role in the live-action remake was first announced two years ago in July 2019. “After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,” said director Rob Marshall in a statement, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Last month, Bailey hosted a Q&A session on her YouTube channel, where she shared her thoughts on the coveted role. In response to the sweet reactions circulating online showing young Black girls see a mermaid princess who looks like them, the Chloe x Halle star said she loves it. “It’s a crazy feeling, really, to see all of the babies’ reactions to just the teaser and, you know, it’s really overwhelming,” she shared. “I’ve just been crying at all of the videos that you guys have been sending me. All of my friends have been sending me all these TikToks and reactions, and I’m just overjoyed and overwhelmed and filled with so much gratitude.”

The upcoming film also stars Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as villain Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian and more.
