One journalist has landed in some unusual legal hot water after sharing some video footage of former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson and other personalities.

The Washington Post reports that freelance journalist Tim Burke, a former employee of The Daily Beast and Deadspin, was hit with an indictment on Thursday, Feb.22, and his attorneys believe this will threaten the freedom of the press.
According to The Washington Post’s reporting, Burke was hit with 14 counts, including conspiracy and wiretapping, which is very eyebrow-raising.
Per The Washington Post:

But in an indictment laying out 14 counts against Burke that include conspiracy and wiretapping, prosecutors allege that the journalist went too far by tapping into a streaming feed site where he acquired unbroadcast video clips of former Fox News star Tucker Carlson and other personalities.
Vice and Media Matters later published some of the footage obtained by Burke, including outtakes from an interview with Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, making antisemitic remarks and rambling about “fake children” living in his home — scenes that undermined Carlson’s on-air attempts to present the MAGA-friendly star as thoughtful and levelheaded.
Was Burke’s Actions Illegal?
The indictment also notes Burke obtained the footage from the streaming service LiveU, which is used by media outlets, allowing them to share videos across their organizations.
He said that information following a raid by the FBI on his home that also saw the seeing of his equipment. Burke’s attorneys say he used “publicly available login credentials” to access LiveU’s feed after a “confidential source” told him where to look for details, allowing him to enter the precise URLs for specific feeds.
“He merely found something newsworthy on a publicly accessible site,” the filing states.
Prosecutors claim the opposite, saying that Burke used “compromised credentials” to gain unauthorized computer access.
We want to see how this lawsuit pans out because there are huge implications if the court sides with the prosecutors.

Elon Musk continues to make X, formerly Twitter, one of the world’s worst places, all in the name of “free speech.”
For his next dumb move, Elon Musk announced he is reinstating far-right Hulk Hogan, aka Alex Jones, account on the struggling social media platform.
How did Musk come to this decision?

It only took one of his infamous polls shared with his 165 million followers, with 70% of them in favor of giving the conspiracy theorist his account back.

Alex Jones and his Infowars program were banned by Twitter in 2018. He was also ordered to pay nearly $1.5 billion to the families of Sandy Hook victims after claiming the 2012 shooting that left 20 kids and six adults dead was a hoax.
Musk notes that policing Jones will be X users’ jobs through the community notes feature.
“The people have spoken and so it shall be,” Musk said in a post he shared Saturday evening. He continued, “It is a safe bet that Community Notes will respond rapidly to any AJ post that needs correction.”
He then tried his best to make sense of his decision, adding, “I vehemently disagree with what [Jones] said about Sandy Hook, but are we a platform that believes in freedom of speech or are we not? That is what it comes down to in the end. If the people vote him back on, this will be bad for X financially, but principles matter more than money.”

Elon Musk Is Singing A Different Tune
Musk reinstating Jones’ X account is a big about-face from his stance in 2022, where he rejected users’ calls to bring him back.
“My firstborn child died in my arms,” Musk said in a post. “I felt his last heartbeat. I have no mercy for anyone who would use the deaths of children for gain, politics, or fame.”
Yeah, okay.
After trashing companies for no longer advertising on X, we don’t think reinstating Alex Jones will help lure them back.

We’re not sure what Ice Cube’s end game is here (besides promoting the BIG 3), but it’s not going well for him at the moment. The Hip-Hop icon is getting dragged for filth after participating in an interview with established, allegedly, white supremacist Tucker Carlson.

Recently, Cube has been adamant that just because he takes a photo with a scoundrel, it doesn’t mean it’s a co-sign. Such as when he was snapped with faux-Democrat and alleged anti-vaxxer Robert Kennedy Jr.
However, linking with Tucker Carlson, who made a living spewing racist commentary on FOX News on a nightly basis before he was unceremoniously fired, is a bridge too far for many. The name of the episode—Tucker moved his tomfoolery to Twitter after getting booted from FOX News—is titled “Stay in your lane: our drive through South Central LA with Ice Cube.”
While both ride in the back of an SUV, Cube gives Tucker a tour of the South Central neighborhood he grew up in. Of course, Tuck’ems skewed to Cube’s disdain of politics. “Politicians only really pay attention to the people that give them money,” said Cube. “Everybody else is kinda an extra in their movie. We love you in the scene, but we can do the scene without you.”
Added Cube, “Politicians have hidden agendas.”
Nothing Cube said right there is wrong. But that Tucker Carlson wack juice is impossible to get off. Just ask Kanye West. And that’s the main beef from commenters. Especially after many felt Cube was too willing to entertain Donald Trump’s ridiculousness. A common observation was also that Carlson asked leading questions about Obama, George Floyd and the Covid-19 vaccine just to get Cube to give a controversial answer.

See more reactions to Ice Cube taking Carlson on a safari in the hood in the commentary.

Tucker Carlson, he of slanted opinions and owner of one of the most punchable faces in America, is now out of a job. According to rapidly developing reports, the longtime Fox News host has agreed to part ways amicably with the network, or that is what allegedly happened.
Tucker Carlson, 53, has been a Fox News media team member since 2009 after a three-year stint with MSNBC. Carlson has hosted the Tucker Carlson Tonight show on Fox News since 2016.
Via a statement that was first reported by the Associated Press, Fox News said that they “agreed to part ways” with Carlson, and this announcement comes just after the network settled a lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems and how the network reported on the 2020 election.
Carlson, whose show was one of the most popular on the network, aired its last episode this past Friday (April 21).
“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” added the press release from Fox News.
Carlson has attracted plenty of attention as one of the leading voices in so-called conservative media, and also for his on-air gaffes and outward support of former president Donald Trump. Carlson’s departure from Fox News likely wasn’t over the $787 million settlement the network has to pay Dominion Voting Systems However, Carlson did question the network’s coverage of the election and privately stated that he was not a true fan of Trump.
On Twitter, the news of Tucker Carlson leaving Fox News is starting to bubble with reactions from most rubbing a bit of salt in the wound. Given the rise of podcasts that lean right of center coming out, Carlson should be working again in no time.

A former producer for Fox News host Tucker Carlson disparaged the network’s viewers as “dumb ones” and “cousin f—–s” in a new revelation from an ongoing lawsuit.

According to reports, more disclosures from the lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News for libel have further exposed how those at the network truly felt about the 2020 presidential election, their own news division’s handling of it and their viewers.

One such opinion came from Alex Pfeiffer, a producer for Tucker Carlson’s show during an exchange with Raj Shah, a former White House aide to former president Donald Trump before joining the network. The two were discussing false claims by lawyer and conspiracy theorist Sidney Powell alleging that Dominion rigged the votes with the help of Venezuela.
“Might wanna address this, but this stuff is so f—— insane. Vote rigging to the tune of millions? C’mon,” Shah wrote. Pfeiffer wrote back, “It is so insane but our viewers believe it, so addressing against how her stupid Venezuela affidavit isn’t proof might insult them.”
Pfieffer would go on to call the situation “surreal,” writing: “Like negotiating with terrorists, but especially dumb ones. Cousin f*cker types not Saudi royalty.” The producer has since left Fox News, but this adds to further revelations found in the lawsuit about how he and Carlson considered their viewers and Trump.
The current lawsuit continues to portray Fox News in a damning light, as Dominion seeks $1.6 billion in damages. There are also rumblings by those staffers at the network who are wondering how they will be treated in the wake of the litigation, as reports have shown that no one in the network’s management is talking to journalists about the ongoing case.
This also comes after reports from the revealed court filings show Fox News CEO Rupert Murdoch admitting under oath that the network knew that claims about the 2020 presidential election by Trump and other allies such as Rudy Giuliani were false, but they were afraid of losing viewers by challenging them.

M&M’s chose violence on a Monday (Jan. 23) morning. The brand announced it was replacing its “spokecandies” with Minnie Riperton’s daughter, actress Maya Rudolph.

The announcement from M&M’s almost immediately got the former SNL star (he Apple TV show Loot is damn good, too) trending. To be clear, we’re in on Maya Rudolph holding M&M”s down because it probably means there’s at least a hilarious Super Bowl commercial on the way.
“America, let’s talk,” reads the statement. “In the last year, we’ve made some changes to our beloved spokescandies. We weren’t sure if anyone would even notice. And we definitely didn’t think it would break the internet. But now we get it — even a candy’s shoes can be polarizing. Which was the last thing M&M’s wanted, since we’re all about bringing people together.”
True. They continued: “Therefore, we have decided to take an indefinite pause from the spokescandies. In their place, we are proud to introduce a new spokesperson America can agree on: the beloved Maya Rudolph. We are confident Ms. Rudolph will champion the power of fun to create a world where everyone feels they belong.”
M&M’s may want to reconsider what Americans can agree on, though. There really are those who are seriously butt hurt by the announcement showing their whole asses on Al Gore’s Internets. Safe bet you can guess the type of people they vote for, just saying.
Worth noting, the statement comes almost a year to the day after FOX’s alleged racist Tucker Carlson declared that the spokescandy updates were “less sexy”. Seriously.
Peep some of the polarizing reactions below. All the impending slander of their suspect cause is surely deserved.

2. Who hurt you?
