Rihanna’s influence on popular culture can’t be denied. Searches for red clothing have skyrocketed since her Super Bowl performance.
It’s official, “Rihanna Red” is officially a thing. On Sunday, February 12 the Barbadian songstress, cheered on by boyfriend A$AP Rocky, performed at the Super Bowl LVII. And now her outfit is one of the hottest sought-after trends around the world. The superstar made her mark on this year’s game in an all-red custom Loewe and Alaïa look, composed of an unzipped jumpsuit, leather corset, sleeping bag coat, gloves, and Maison Margiela x Salomon sneakers.
According to a study by Boohoo, Google searches skyrocketed by over 610% worldwide for ‘red jumpsuit’, an increase of over seven times the average, and 203% for the term ‘red coat’, after Rihanna’s Super Bowl half-time show. The same analysis reveals searches for ‘red puffer jacket’, ‘red boots’, and ‘red sneakers’ have soared 188%, 173%, and 78% worldwide after the performance.
RiRi wore the all-red ensemble while performing 12 hit songs – including Only Girl in the World and We Found Love at the major sports event in Glendale, Arizona. In the last few minutes, she donned an Alaïa sleeping bag coat in tribute to fashion legend André Leon Talley, which resembles his iconic Norma Kamali coat. Talley’s official Instagram account acknowledged the tribute with the caption: ‘When the sun shines, we’ll shine together. Told you I’ll be here forever… said I’ll always be your friend,’ the caption reads, tagging Rihanna and including the Super Bowl hashtag with a photo of Talley in the coat mentioned above.
Rihanna also appeared to reveal baby bump number two on stage, later confirmed by her rep. The superstar also plugged her brand Fenty Beauty on stage, which saw a massive 1,860% spike in searches worldwide after applying makeup during the setlist.

The Black National Anthem, also widely known as “Lift Every Voice & Sing,” was performed expertly by Sheryl Lee Ralph ahead of Super Bowl LVII. Because Black people can’t have nice things, powerful conservative figures and others from the GOP side of the aisle complained on social media about the emotionally stirring moment.
The Black National Anthem was performed for the third year in a row ahead of the NFL’s biggest game on Feb. 12, with Ralph, a notable singer along as an award-winning actress, taking on the classic with ease. Shortly after her performance, Trump muppets and salty conservatives revved up the complaint train and accused the Super Bowl of wokeness, which we know is code for “it’s getting too Black in here.”
Ralph was rightly proud of her moment and shared the news via social media, which sparked the angry pitchfork mob to stir up some unnecessary mess and tried to take shots while using tired tropes of evoking the name of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
One Twitter user, who won’t dignify with posting their username, had the nerve to write to Ralph, “No disrespect to anyone, but MLK didn’t call for a separate anthem, did he? He didn’t call for segregated dorms and black-only graduations, did he? He called for unity, as I recall. I prefer his “content of their character” prescription over divisive “separate but equal” anthems.”
Yep. It was like that.
Just for context, we’ll share some of the other loser comments from the butt-hurt clowns who claim to be patriots and champions of fairness while taking down the big bad of “wokeness” from their cushy seats.

Rihanna‘s red-hot ensemble at the 2023 Super Bowl set the fashion world aflame, but it turns out part of her outfit had a particularly special meaning.
Partway through her 13-minute set, the “We Found Love” hitmaker donned a bright red sleeping bag coat by Alaïa for the finale of 2007’s “Umbrella” followed by 2012’s “Diamonds.” And if the glamorous floor-length outerwear looked familiar, it’s because it was a tender homage to André Leon Talley — the late Vogue editor-at-large who passed away in Jan. 2022 and was known to wear his favorite Norma Kamali coat in the same style and hue.
The people running Talley’s still-active Instagram account took note of the tribute and posted a side-by-side of the two looks with the caption, “When the sun shines, we’ll shine together. Told you I’ll be here forever… said I’ll always be your friend” and tagged RiRi with a red balloon emoji.
Rihanna and Talley have a shared history when it comes to fashion as well. For much of the 2010s, the latter was a beloved fixture on the carpet for the Met Gala, where he would interview A-listers for Vogue.com about their personal interpretation of the annual theme set by Anna Wintour. In 2015, he bonded with Rihanna over the jaw-dropping gown she wore in honor of the “China: Through the Looking Glass” exhibition.
“Queen of the night! Break it up, it’s not enough. Beautiful! This moment, this fantasy, I’m dreaming. How did this happen? It’s so beautiful!” Talley raved at the time, later adding, “You are so inspiring to so many people. You’re going to inspire people in this dress…I love you! Can’t wait to see you on stage!”

R&B legend Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds is happy his Super Bowl performance is over — sort of.
“I feel relieved — now I can breathe,” he told The Hollywood Reporter outside his suite following his moment on the field Sunday. “Before it was moments of nervousness and then I’d be chill and then I’d get a little nervous again. Right before they introduced me [I was like], ‘Oh shit, there it is.’ I just have to be chill and just try to concentrate on the song.”
“You know the words, but it’s a different kind of song. It’s not something that you sing every day and you’re on the spot,” he added of singing “America the Beautiful” at the State Farm Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

“If you go wrong in this, you go wrong forever. I’m thankful that we made it through it good,” he said.
Babyface strummed a custom-made guitar featuring the American flag during the performance.
The singer/songwriter/producer has won 12 Grammys, written all of his own hits and also written for Beyoncé, Toni Braxton, Boyz II Men, Ariana Grande, Mary J. Blige, TLC, Mariah Carey, Usher and Whitney Houston, whose 11-year death anniversary was Saturday.
“I can only say that Whitney was always fun. She was silly and that was the relationship that we had when we were in the studio. We always had fun with each other,” he recalled.
Babyface is still penning hits today: He recently co-wrote the track “Snooze” on SZA’s critically acclaimed album SOS, which is spending its eighth week at No. 1 on Billboard’s 200 albums chart.
“SZA is great. We worked on two songs, actually. Hopefully one day she’ll let us put out that other song, but she’s amazing,” he said. “I don’t know any artist that’s like her, male or female. She is truly one of the best that I’ve ever written with.”
The 64-year-old debuted in the R&B group The Deele, who released their debut album 40 years ago in 1983. He said he’s happy to still have a career strong enough to bring him to the Super Bowl.
“I just find it interesting that I’m here at this event doing this. I didn’t see this coming and so it’s such an honor to be here,” he said. “I was honored that Roc Nation and Jay-Z thought I was worthy of doing it. It’s great.”

Two men who were allegedly shot outside a pre-Super Bowl party that followed a Justin Bieber concert last year have filed a wide-ranging lawsuit Bieber and Kodak Black, among a host of other defendants.
Plaintiffs Mark Schaefer and Adam Rahman are alleging negligence, battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress in claims brought by lawyer Gloria Allred over injuries they say they suffered during the Feb. 11, 2022, incident, which occurred outside Los Angeles restaurant The Nice Guy where the party was being held. Filed Thursday (Feb. 9) and obtained by Billboard, the suit claims that the defendants “negligently breached the duties owed to Plaintiffs” by “failing to provide adequate security; failing to warn Plaintiffs of the danger; increasing the likelihood of violence; and/or instigating, escalating, and exacerbating the impact of the violence.”
Kodak Black is solely named on a total of three counts — assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress — with the plaintiffs singling out his conduct as a “substantial factor” in causing them harm.
The complaint goes on to claim that both plaintiffs suffered “physical pain, mental suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, disfigurement, physical impairment, inconvenience, grief, anxiety, humiliation, and severe emotional distress,” along with financial harm including medical expenses and lost earnings. Schaefer and Rahman are asking for general, special and punitive/exemplary damages in amounts to be determined at trial.
Reps for Kodak Black and Bieber did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
On the night of the party, which was held on Feb. 11, 2022, the LAPD reported that four men, reportedly including Kodak Black, were shot outside The Nice Guy. Videos posted to TMZ and social media showed Black posing for photos with a group of people outside the restaurant when a fight broke out. Black was among several people involved in the scuffle when shots rang out, sending everyone at the scene running for cover.
The party followed Bieber’s private concert at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, Calif., which was held as part of “Homecoming Weekend” — a series of events held in advance of that year’s Super Bowl. Guests at the bash also reportedly included Jeff Bezos, Hamilton actor Anthony Ramos, NFL Hall-of-Famer Tony Gonzalez, Drake, Khloe Kardashian, Tobey Maguire and Bieber’s wife Hailey Bieber.
The Super Bowl averaged an impressive 113 million viewers on Sunday (Feb. 12), a one percent increase in comparison to last year’s big game and the broadcast’s greatest viewership in six years.

About 106 million of the viewers watched the game on Fox and a Spanish-language feed on Fox Deportes, while the remainder opted for Fox and NFL digital platforms, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
As expected, viewing peaked during Rihanna‘s halftime performance, which averaged 118.7 million viewers, making it the second-most-watched halftime show on record behind Katy Perry’s 2015 performance.
During her 12-minute show, RiRi was dressed in a curve-hugging red outfit, surprising fans with a pregnant belly during the airborne performance at the State Farm Arena in Glendale, Arizona, where she treated viewers to a medley of some of her biggest hits.
The new baby will have a big sibling, as Rihanna just welcomed her first child with A$AP Rocky in May. “When I first got the call to do it again this year, I was like, [hisses] ‘You sure?’ I’m three months postpartum,” RiRi previously said about accepting the Super Bowl gig, during an Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show press conference earlier in the week. “Should I be making major decisions like this right now? I might regret this. But when you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you can take on the world. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was because I haven’t been on stage in seven years, there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all … It’s important for my son to see that.”
After Rihanna took the stage at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show with what looked like a baby bump under her curve-hugging red outfit, her reps confirmed that the superstar is in fact pregnant with her and A$AP Rocky’s second child.
The star hinted in a pre-game interview with Nate Burleson that she had a surprise in store for fans, but she didn’t end up singing any new songs or bringing out any musical guests to the Super Bowl halftime show stage — proving that the big surprise was her pregnancy.
But RiRi’s bump reveal is hardly the first time a musician has taken an onstage opportunity to announce that she’s expecting, as stars like Beyoncé, Cardi B, Jennifer Lopez and more have all made their pregnancy announcements while performing.
Other artists, who didn’t announce their pregnancies onstage, showed off the power of women with their bumps on full display during major performances at awards shows, festivals and more.

“You will never be able to break my family.”
Universal Pictures unveiled the new trailer for Fast X during Super Bowl LVII on Sunday (Feb. 12), and in the clip, Vin Diesel, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson and their crew face off against a new enemy in Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes — the son of Fast Five baddie Hernan Reyes who’s now out for revenge.
“Dominic Torretto, you’re about to learn all about fear,” he warns in a voice-over, as an ominous remix of 1997’s “Notorious Thugs” by The Notorious B.I.G. and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony plays. “You built such a beautiful life, filled with love and family. I never got that chance. You stole that from me: my future, my family. And now I’m gonna break yours piece by piece.”
Diesel’s character later adds: “When it used to be about winning, we raced for respect. Today I race to stop the bloodbath.” But Momoa still, apparently, holds the upper hand, responding, “That’s the problem with having such a big family. How do you choose the ones you save?”
The 10th installment of the Fast & Furious franchise also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Jason Statham, Sun Kang, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno and the late Paul Walker via flashbacks. The movie will hit theaters nationwide on May 19.
During the Super Bowl, Ludacris — who’s starred in the action franchise since 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious — also appeared in a new DraftKings commercial opposite Tony Hawk, Kevin Hart, The Undertaker, David Ortiz, Emmitt Smith, Lisa Leslie and Julius Erving.

Rihanna took to the stages at State Farm Stadium at Super Bowl LVII at halftime and delivered a set that enraptured audiences in attendance and at home. As most who saw the show noticed, the Barbadian superstar appeared to be with child and the news was confirmed by her rep shortly after.
Rihanna, who turns 35 next week, showed off her signature bold style in a red outfit with a matching bustier and was back in an element her fans rarely get to see her in these days. Rihanna opened with “B&tch Better Have My Money” and hit other crowd-pleasing moments with “Umbrella” and “Work” among them.
According to Variety, a representative for the Savage X Fenty boss confirmed that she is expecting a second child after delivering a baby boy in May of 2022. As the outlet notes, it had been five years since Rihanna touched a stage in this fashion although she has enjoyed plenty of time in the limelight via her beauty and fashion brands.
Congratulations to Rihanna!
