This week, our New Music Latin roundup — a compilation of the best new Latin songs, albums and videos recommended by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — is powered by new music from Anitta, Fuerza Regida and Kali Uchis, to name a few.
A handful of talented women dropped new music this week, including Anitta, whose sensuality shined more than ever in her new single “Mil Veces.” The melodic Brazilian Funk, part of her forthcoming set Funk Generation, finds the pop star chanting about the ups and downs of a relationship while reminiscing on the “thousand times” she and her lover have been together and how much her desire is still alive.

Kali Uchis, on the other hand, released “Te Mata,” a gorgeous and profound bolero, produced by Josh Crocker and Manuel Lara, where she sings about discovering her self-worth after a toxic relationship. “Me, I am the devil of your story. The one that knew that in order to fly, I would have to find my own wings … I allowed your actions, they hurt me like bullets, the one that cried to sleep and would wake up to continue the nightmare,” she chants. Uchis’ new single forms part of her highly-anticipated Spanish-language album, Orquídeas, on January 12.

Speaking of albums, Mexican-American group Fuerza Regida unleashed its 30-track set Pa’ las Baby’s y Belikeada, where they embark on a daring and audacious expedition of fearless corridos bélicos with a distinctive drill influence. Featured acts in the album include El Fantasma, Maria Becerra, Marshmello, Gabito Ballesteros, Manuel Turizo, Chino Pacas, and more

In our most recent New Music Latin fan-related poll, Feid’s MOR, No Le Temas A La Oscuridad album won with more than 69 percent of the votes. What’s your favorite new Latin music release of the week? Vote below!

With the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards set to take place this Thursday (Oct. 5), fans are about to find out who won in each of the ceremony’s 48 categories, including Artist of the Year, New.
Five artists — Bizarrap, Chino Pacas, Grupo Frontera, Peso Pluma and Yng Lvcas — are currently competing in the sought-after category. Along with joining their fellow newcomers in the Artist of the Year, New category, both Grupo Frontera and Peso Pluma are finalists vying for the coveted Artist of the Year award.

Four out of the five acts are Mexican or of Mexican descent, a testament of the ever-expanding Mexican movement that has blossomed throughout 2023. Pacas, Frontera and Pluma are representing regional Mexican music with their corridos bélicos and Tex-Mex cumbia, respectively, while Lvcas is championing a new kind of persuasive “Mexican reggaetón.” On the other hand, Argentine alchemist Bizarrap has showcased his genre-spanning production wizardry that has broken the internet numerous times. Last year, sierreño star Ivan Cornejo took the coveted award.

Pluma leads all finalists this year, with 21 nods across 15 categories. Frontera aren’t far behind, with a total of 15 nods. Yng Lvcas and Bizarrap hold six entries each, while Chino Pacas has only one in the new artist category.

Finalists and eventual winners are based on key fan interactions with music, including audio and video streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay and touring, tracked by Billboard and Luminate. This year’s awards are based on the chart period of Aug. 13, 2022, through Aug. 12, 2023. The ceremony will broadcast live on Telemundo from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla., at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 5. It will also broadcast simultaneously on Universo, Peacock, the Telemundo App, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean on Telemundo Internacional.

Who would you like to see win Artist of the Year, New? Vote for your favorite artist in our fan poll below! (Editor’s note: The poll winner does not impact the award decision.)

Feid, Becky G and Colombian newcomer Venesti, all released new albums this week. Feid’s MOR, No Le Temas a la Oscuridad (Love, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark) is easily his most eclectic production yet, with 15 songs that dabble in genres including Afrobeat, techno, funk and his signature Medallo reggaton. With a mix off ranchera, corridos and ballads, Becky G’s Esquinas (Corners) celebrates her two cultures and pride of being a 200 percenter (100% Mexican, 100% American). Rising act Venesti delivered his debut album De La Nada (Out of Nowhere), in which he showcases his vocal range backed by dancehall, bachata, electronica, reggaeton and more.

A notable single that was released this week is Enrique Iglesias and Maria Becerra’s first collaborative effort, a romantic bachata called “Asi Es La Vida.” This doesn’t mark their first bachata rodeo; Becerra previously joined Prince Royce in “Te Espero” and Rusherking in “Antes de Ti,” and Iglesias released “El Perdedor” featuring Marco Antonio Solis, “Loco” with Romeo Santos and “Cuando Me Enamoro” with Juan Luis Guerra.

Other must-hear tracks include Bad Bunny’s “Un Preview,” Paola Jara and Chiquis’ ultra powerful “Lo Que No Sirve, Estorba” and Nio Garcia and Anuel AA’s infectious “Oh Na Na.”

Last week, Ricky Martin and Christian Nodal’s “Fuego De Noche, Nieve De Día” won the poll with more than 67 percent of the votes. What’s your favorite new Latin music release of the week? Vote below!
