This week, Billboard’s New Music Latin roundup and playlist — curated by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — features fresh new music from artists including new studio albums by Nicky Jam and Jhay Cortez.
This week, Nicky Jam dropped his sixth studio album Insomnio, three years after his set Infinity. In a 14-track set that includes fiery collaborations with Feid, Eladio Carrión, Sean Paul, and Luar La L on the focus track “La Cyber,” Nicky takes fans on an ultra-personal journey that was inspired by his late-night creativity.
“The name ‘Insomnio’ came about because many of the album’s songs were born in the tranquility of the night, a moment without distractions where my deepest thoughts found their voice,” the Puerto Rican artist expressed in a press statement. “But within that same calm lies the whirlwind of partying until dawn.”

Jhayco also released his first album in three years, a three-part set with 29 songs called Le Clique: Vida Rockstar (X): “Le Clique,” represents the family, “Vida Rockstar,” the movement, and “X,” the hits. For his new project, Jhayco reeled in collaborators such as Peso Pluma, Yandel, and DJ Khaled, to name a few, and as Billboard Español’s Isabela Raygoza describes, it “weaves together the threads of rock, reggaetón, and everything in between […] transforming the artist into a genre alchemist.”
Other new releases this week include Grupo Frontera & Gabito Ballestero’s “Pienso En Ella”; Natti Natasha’s bachata “Tu Loca,” produced by Romeo Santos; and a dreamy new version of Elena Rose’s “Me Lo Merezco.”
Last week, Sebastian Yatra’s “Los Domingos” won the poll, bringing in more than 70% of the votes. Who should win this week? Give these new releases a spin and vote on them below.

Carpenter’s highly anticipated Short n’ Sweet officially arrived on Friday. The new project features previously released singles “Espresso” and her Billboard Hot 100 chart topper “Please Please Please.” Along with the album release, she also dropped the thriller-inspired music video for “Taste,” starring Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega.
Short n’ Sweet follows 2021’s Emails I Can’t Send, which features hits like “Nonsense,” “Feather” and “Because I Liked a Boy.” The album peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, marking Carpenter’s highest-charting effort on the tally.

“I called it Short n’ Sweet for multiple reasons. It was not because I’m vertically challenged. It was really like I thought about some of these relationships and how some of them were the shortest I’ve ever had and they affected me the most,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe of the project.
“I think about the way that I respond to situations, and sometimes it is very nice and sometimes it’s not very nice. And again, the thing about albums, projects, writing songs, it’s all moments. So harder for other people to understand that when they’re listening to something that’s going to take them through maybe a lot of years, hopefully a lot of years, is that I’m not the same person that I was when I wrote that.”
Trailing behind Carpenter on this week’s poll is Coldplay’s team-up with Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna and TINI for “We Pray,” which brought in 30% of the vote. The British band is gearing up for the release of its 10th studio album, Moon Music, set for release on Oct. 4.

LISA and Rosalía’s Y2K-inspired single arrived Thursday (Aug. 15) with an equally colorful music video. “Hit it when I serve/ B—-, you better swerve/ Revving up my, uh-uh-uh-uh-aura/ Focus on my mind/ Taking my time/ I’m a new woman,” LISA declares on the catchy chorus.

For her verse, Rosalía adds a bilingual element musing, “Nací pura, sí/ Ni una era será un flop en mi porvenir/ P—, soy la Rosalía, solo sé servir,” which translates to “I was born pure/ There won’t be a flop era in my future/ W—-, I’m Rosalía, I only know how to serve.”
The new song arrives a little over a month after the K-pop icon stepped into a new phase of her solo career outside of BLACKPINK with “Rockstar,” which debuted at No. 70 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 4 on the Billboard Global 200.
Trailing behind LISA and Rosalía on this week’s poll is Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile,” with nearly 36% of the vote. The superstars barely gave fans a heads up before unveiling the collab, the existence of which they only confirmed less than 12 hours ahead of its arrival.
It’s been a while since either artist has released proper solo music. Gaga’s last album, Chromatica, dropped in 2020, while Mars’ 24K Magic is approaching its eight-year anniversary. The former topped the Billboard 200 albums chart, and the second peaked at No. 2.
