Warner Music Group appointed Corey Sheridan as global head of commerce and revenue for ADA, the company’s independent label and artist services division. Sheridan, until recently the head of music partnerships at TikTok, will manage ADA’s commercial strategy, working to drive revenue and optimize music releases. The Los Angeles-based exec reports to ADA president Cat Kreidich. At TikTok, Sheridan played a crucial role in the platform’s music strategy, overseeing the creation of the TikTok Charts feature and securing partnerships with Billboard, Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. His first role at TikTok was as head of music for North America, from April 2019 until February of the last year. Prior to TikTok, Sheridan held leadership roles at UnitedMasters, SoundCloud and Sony’s The Orchard. His work has earned recognition on Billboard’s 2020 Impact list and the 2019 Digital Power Players list. Kreidich praised Sheridan for his visionary leadership over the years, particularly in anticipating industry trends, and highlighted his deep passion for indie music and extensive digital and social experience as key assets for ADA’s future success. Sheridan lauded ADA’s “clear vision and unmatched drive to strengthen what a distribution company can offer.”

Drew Hill, CEO of Proper Group’s distribution division, was elected chairman of the Official Charts Company, which compiles the UK’s music and video sales data. Hill succeeds Sony Music senior director of commercial analytics Charlotte de Burgh-Holder, taking on the non-executive role starting Sept. 29. He represents ERA, the Digital Entertainment & Retail Association, which co-owns the Official Charts Company with BPI. As chairman, Hill will work closely with CEO Martin Talbot to shape the company’s strategy and chair the Official Charts board. With over 20 years of experience in the entertainment sector, including roles at Walt Disney and Curb Records, Hill now leads Proper Group’s distribution division. He recently oversaw the launch of the UK’s largest warehouse for physical music and video. Talbot praised Hill’s wide-ranging industry experience, noting it makes him well-suited for the role “as we continue to evolve all that the Official Charts does and stands for – and prepares for the next phase in its development.”

Warner Chappell Music promoted A&R executive Spencer Nohe to vp of A&R. During his career, Nohe has worked with artists including Thomas Rhett, Alysa Vanderheym, Brittney Spencer and Conner Smith. He joined WCM Nashville in 2020 as director of A&R and previously worked at Curb/Word Entertainment and BMI. Nohe will continue to report to Ben Vaughn, president and CEO of WCM Nashville, who called him a “true, thoughtful music professional.” –Jessica Nicholson

Universal Music Greater China senior vp Gary Chan has been tasked with helming a new label specifically covering China’s Greater Bay Area, which includes both Hong Kong and Macau and is home to more than 86 million people. The new imprint, Universal Music China Greater Bay Area, has its headquarters in Shenzhen and will focus on discovering and nurturing local talent. “We eagerly anticipate welcoming the outstanding talents from this region to join us in driving forward, the next era of Chinese pop music,” said Timothy Xu, chairman and CEO of UMGC. “In this pursuit, we are setting our sights on transforming the GBA into a trendsetting hub that epitomizes creativity, vitality, and connectivity, crafting fresh musical expressions and innovative entertainment experiences.”

Big Machine Label Group appointed Andi Brooks as director of streaming for The Valory Music Co, effective immediately. Previously the director of Southwest promotion & marketing at Nashville Harbor Records & Entertainment (formerly BMLG Records), Brooks will now collaborate with VMC’s streaming partners to strategize and promote both new releases and existing catalog. She reports to VMC president George Briner and svp of digital & promotion Ashley Sidoti. Brooks joined BMLG Records in 2019, following a successful career in radio and morning television in Madison, WI. “Her enthusiasm and passion for music, along with her desire and drive to be the best in the streaming world makes her a great addition,” said Briner.

Distribution and retail brand Fat Beats appointed industry veteran Rob Caiaffa as its new head of marketing. Caiaffa will oversee Fat Beats’ marketing efforts during a time of growth and expansion, as the brand celebrates its 30th anniversary. His role will focus on enhancing Fat Beats’ market positioning and strengthening relationships with artists and industry partners. Caiaffa brings two decades of experience from previous senior positions at companies like SoundCloud, Motown Records and Def Jam Recordings. At SoundCloud, he played a key role in launching initiatives like the Fresh Press artist interviews and the CloudBar industry insights program, and worked on strategic partnerships with major brands like SiriusXM and Pandora. Caiaffa said his goal at his new gig is upholding Fat Beats’ legacy while exploring innovative new opportunities for the brand’s future.

Jon Borris joined The Core Records as general manager, where he will oversee the label’s day-to-day operations, focusing on artist strategy, A&R, marketing and distribution. He joins the label following a six-year tenure at Republic Records, where he worked with artists including Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, Drake and Ariana Grande. Prior to Republic, Borris spent two decades at Sony Music Entertainment. Kevin “Chief” Zaruk and Simon Tikhman launched The Core Records in 2023. -J.N.

Outback Presents appointed Joel Bachkoff as senior vp of comedy, marking a key addition to the company’s growing funny business. Bachkoff will focus on developing the careers of comedy talent, guiding them from clubs to theaters and eventually arenas, while cementing their long-term success. With decades of experience in the comedy industry, Bachkoff’s career began at the club level and expanded to owning and operating multiple comedy, music, and restaurant venues across Arizona, Florida, and California. His expertise and innovative approach have made him a respected leader in the field. Outback Presents co-CEOs, Brian Dorfman and Michael Smardak, expressed their excitement about Bachkoff joining the team, with Smardak saying he’s “thankful to be able to work with Brian and Joel who have dedicated their careers to comedy.” Reach Bachkoff at joel.bachkoff@outbackpresents.com.

Dhar Mann Studios, a leading digital content company, appointed Sean Atkins as president and COO. Atkins, a media industry veteran with experience at Jellysmack, MTV, and Discovery, joins to drive the company’s growth and expansion into new business lines. Dhar Mann Studios produces scripted content, generating over 6.7 billion views in the past year, the company said. Atkins will oversee its Burbank production facility and lead efforts to broaden the company’s reach, including live events, merchandising, publishing, and partnerships, with representation from CAA. As president of DMS, Atkins has already launched the 5th Quarter Agency, a new creator-services division to help top creators monetize their content on YouTube. Dhar Mann, the company’s founder, sees Atkins as key to accelerating the company’s mission-driven growth. “Together, we’re set to advance our mission of using media to make a positive global impact, while we propel the company into this next stage of unprecedented growth,” he said.

Align PR is expanding its music and Latin teams with the addition of Lauren Morris-Ruff and Erica Goldish in Los Angeles, Victoire Selce and Nick Vinci in New York City, and Justin Tejada in Miami — all with strong backgrounds covering labels, agencies and various markets. Align’s client roster includes heavy-hitters like Madonna, Demi Lovato, Zayn Malik, Lil Wayne, Lea Michele and Nicky Jam, among others. Co-founder Nicole Perez-Krueger expressed excitement about the company’s growth, noting how the varied experiences of the new team members — Morris-Ruff at PMK*BNC, Goldish at Shore Fire, Selce at Wasserman, Vinci at 10K Projects and Tejada at Acoustyle — enhance the firm’s culture and storytelling abilities. The music department will continue to collaborate with longtime staff members such as Nicole Perez-Krueger, Brit Reece, Cait Bailey, Paul Samaha, Alec Huerta, Trixie Richter and Isa Perez.

All seven of Oasis’ studio albums went to No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, from their 1994 debut Definitely Maybe through to 2005’s Don’t Believe The Truth. A year after the split, in 2010, the compilation Time Flies – 1994-2009 hit the summit, giving Oasis eight leaders.

The manner in which the group dominated the national tally is worth exploring.

Definitely Maybe became the fastest-selling debut album in British history – and has passed 5 million sales in the U.K., where it’s 17-times platinum certified, according to the Official Charts Company.

Their sophomore effort from 1995, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, is the fifth best-selling album of all time in the U.K.

And their third record, 1997’s Be Here Now, was a weapon. To this day, it’s the fastest-selling album of all time, shifting 696,000 copies in just three days of its first chart week.

It’s a similar tale on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, on which Oasis landed eight No. 1s.

“Wonderwall,” their signature song, is not one of them. The most-streamed song in Oasis’ catalog in the U.K., with 397,100,000 plays, according to the OCC, “Wonderwall” peaked at No. 2 on the weekly chart back in 1995.

That domination extended to awards ceremonies, as Oasis snagged six BRIT Awards, including the Outstanding Contribution to British Music, two Ivor Novellos, and 17 NME Awards.

The group enjoyed success around the globe, including Australia, where “Wonderwall” came in at No. 1 on triple j’s Hottest 100 songs of the past 20 years, which counted down in 2013, and was voted No. 1 on the “Hottest 100” for 1995.

“Wonderwall” spent 11 consecutive weeks in the ARIA Top 10, and is certified 12-times platinum in these parts, ARIA reports.

(What’s the Story) Morning Glory? is certified eight-times platinum in Australia, having clocked up four consecutive weeks at No. 1 and 24 consecutive weeks in the top 10.Be Here Now is platinum certified, and one of the band’s six top 10 efforts on the ARIA Chart.

Oasis’s blockbuster success didn’t translate in the United States. Just three Oasis songs impacted the Billboard Hot 100, including a single top 10 for “Wonderwall” (peaking at No. 8 in 1996).

On the Billboard 200 albums chart, 11 Oasis titles have made their mark, including three top 10s, with a No. 2 best for Be Here Now in 1997.

Oasis will make their long-overdue comeback in 2025, when the band performs a run of concerts in the U.K. and Ireland, their first dates there in 16 years.

The OASIS LIVE ’25 world tour will stretch out. “Plans are underway for OASIS LIVE ’25 to go to other continents outside of Europe later next year,” reads a statement, issued Tuesday morning.

The news has lit the fuse with Oasis’ long-suffering fans in the U.K., proof of which can be seen on the midweek albums chart.

Oasis will “no doubt see a huge surge in sales this week,” according to the charts compiler, as three records get set to blast into the top 40: Time Flies… (1994-2009) (at No. 14), (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? (at No. 26) and Definitely Maybe (No. 31), which celebrates its 30th anniversary this week.

Chappell Roan is finally crowned on the U.K. chart. Almost a year since its release, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (Island) lifts 4-1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, for its first stint at the top of the leaderboard. Roan’s ascent can be seen on charts around the globe, including the United States, Australia and now the U.K., where Midwest Princess completes its climb in its 17th week on the chart, published Friday, Aug. 9.Just last week, the Missouri artist broke the daytime attendance record for a performance at Lollapalooza Chicago. Also, her single “Good Luck, Babe” has become the highest-charting song in her career, entering the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Official U.K. Singles Chart, where it’s currently at No. 2. Originally dropping in September 2023, Midwest Princess enjoys a lift in the U.K. following its release on vinyl, with over half of its seven-day total made up of physical sales, the Official Charts Company reports.The “Popstar Edition” wax pressing leads this week’s Official Vinyl Albums Chart.Charli xcx’s BRAT summer continues to heat up, as her Mercury Prize-nominated Atlantic album returns to its previous peak, No. 2.Also new to the national tally is Vultures 2 (YZY) from Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, and Ty Dolla $ign. Vultures 2 swoops in at No. 7. It’s the followup to their first collaborative record, Vultures, which peaked at No. 2 in February. Finally, Jack White nabs his seventh solo U.K. top 40 appearance with No Name (Third Man). It’s new at No. 33. No Name enjoyed a conventional release after vinyl versions of the album were handed out at three of White’s Third Man Records outlets.

The Midwest Princess is about to be crowned in the U.K.
Based on midweek sales and streaming data captured by the Official Charts Company, Chappell Roan is heading for her first No. 1 with The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (Island), her long-brewing 2023 debut LP.

Released last October last year, Roan’s rise has been at times brisk, and blistering, following the breakthrough of her single “Good Luck, Babe!,” currently at No. 2 on the Official U.K. Chart; a support slot on Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS tour; and the Willard, Missouri native’s explosive set at Lollapalooza, which a spokesperson has described as the festival’s biggest daytime set ever.

According to the OCC, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess lifts 3-1 on the Official Chart Update, thanks to the release of a vinyl variant. Two cuts from the LP have impacted the U.K. Top 40: “HOT TO GO! “(peaking at No. 19) and “Red Wine Supernova” (No. 38).

Charli xcx’s BRAT (Atlantic) summer continues to heat up. The British artist and producer’s sixth studio album is forecast to rise 6-2, its equal peak position, as the single “Guess” jostles to become the U.K.’s No. 1 single.

Taylor Swift’s former leader The Tortured Poets Department (EMI) should complete a podium, up 4-3 in its 16th week on the tally.

Following its official release, White Stripes frontman Jack White could net his sixth U.K. top 10 album with No Name (Third Man), new at No. 6 on the chart blast. The White Stripes frontman got tongues wagging last month when vinyl copies of the record were mysteriously handed out customers at Third Man Records in three cities.

Finally, Ye — the artist formerly known as Kanye West — and Ty Dolla $ign could nab a top 10 debut with VULTURES 2 (YZY), which surprised dropped on early Saturday after plenty of uncertainty. It’s predicted to debut at No. 9. The first VULTURES album peaked at No. 2 in February.

All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Albums Chart is published late Friday, Dec. 9.

Eminem reigns again on the U.K. chart with The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) (via Interscope).
The Rap God’s latest LP enters a second week atop the Official U.K. Albums Chart, published Friday, July 26, holding off Olivia Rodrigo’s resurgent Guts.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo’s sophomore album Guts (Geffen) flies 22-2 following the release of the deluxe “spilled” edition on vinyl. Guts logged a single week at No. 1 following its release last year. Rodrigo’s record-setting debut album Sour, from 2021, also enjoys a lift on the latest frame. It’s up 24-23 in its 166th week on the chart.

The top new entry on the latest tally is Heavy Jelly (BMG), the fourth studio album from Soft Play, the punk act formerly known as Slaves. It’s new at No. 3. As Slaves, the rockers (Isaac Holman and Laurie Vincent) landed top 10s with Are You Satisfied? (No. 8), Take Control (No. 6) and Acts of Fear and Love (No. 8).

Also new to the top 10 is Glass Animals’ I Love You So F***ing Much (Polydor), new at No. 5. It’s the second top tier effort from the Oxford, England-formed pop-rock act following 2020’s Dreamland, which peaked at No. 2 and housed the global hit “Heat Waves.”

Further down the list, British heavy metal icons Deep Purple dig out a 26th U.K. top 40 with =1 (Ear Music), their 23rd studio album. It’s new at No. 12.

And finally, Cardiff, Wales seven-piece Los Campesinos! makes a long overdue appearance in the U.K. top 40 with All Hell (Heart Swells), its seventh studio release. All Hell is new at No. 14. Until now, the group’s best on the national survey was No. 72 for 2008’s How On Now Youngster.

When Taylor Swift filled up Wembley Stadium for three consecutive shows over the weekend, she did so as the undisputed Queen of the national albums chart.
Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department (EMI) enters a seventh non-consecutive week at No. 1 on the Official Chart, published Friday, June 21, coinciding with the first of her eight scheduled concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium.

TayTay leads a podium of female solo artists. Coming in at No. 2 is Billie Eilish’s former leader Hit Me Hard and Soft (Interscope), up two places, while Charli XCX’s Brat (Atlantic) dips 2-3.

The top new debut on the latest tally belongs to British rock outfit Sea Girls, as Midnight Butterflies (Alt) flaps its wings at No. 5. That’s a third-consecutive top 5 appearance for the group, dating back to 2020’s Open Up Your Head (No. 3 peak) and 2022’s Homesick (No. 3).

Chappell Roan landed her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year with the new single “Good Luck, Babe!” The Missouri-born pop artist is enjoying a breakthrough on the other side of the Atlantic, too, where her 2023 debut The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess (Island) lifts 15-9, for her first appearance in the U.K. top 10.

Paul McCartney & Wings’ live studio album One Hand Clapping (Capitol) bows at No. 10. The LP, recorded at London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios in August 1974, becomes McCartney and Co.’s first top 10 album since Back To The Egg peaked at No. 6 in 1979 — 45 years ago.

Finally, North Carolina country star Luke Combs bags his fourth top 40 LP with Fathers & Sons (Sony Music CG), his fifth studio album. It’s new at No. 14. Combs’ career tally includes U.K. top 10 spots for 2022’s Growin’ Up (No. 9) and 2023’s Gettin’ Old (No. 5).

Sabrina Carpenter has every reason to be please please pleased. The U.S. singer and actor lands a second No. 1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart and, in the process, becomes the youngest female artist to concurrently hold the top 2 spots.

On the latest chart, published Friday, June 21, Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” lifts 3-1, while her former leader “Espresso” (both via Island) holds at No. 2.

“Please Please Please” is the U.K.’s most-streamed song this week, accumulating 9.8 million combined streams, with “Espresso” pouring in 8.1 million plays.

According to the Official Charts Company, Carpenter is, at 25 years, 1 month and 10 days, the youngest female solo artist to crack the 1-2. Ariana Grande previously set the mark when, in February 2019, she locked up the top 2 spots with “7 rings” and “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored,” respectively, at age 25 years, 7 months and 20 days. Carpenter also ties-up the top 2 on Australia’s ARIA Chart.

Meanwhile, Luton, England singer-songwriter Myles Smith grabs a career-best with “Stargazing” (RCA), up 7-6.

As Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour cruises into the U.K., the U.S. pop music superstar’s music — predictably — climbs the U.K. charts. On the singles tally, former leader “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone is up 11-10, “Cruel Summer” lifts 17-14 and “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart” (all via EMI) improves 19-18.

The TayTay effect extends to Benson Boone, Swift’s support act at her Wembley Stadium dates. Boone enjoys gains for his singles “Slow It Down” up (18-15 via Warner Records) and former No. 1 “Beautiful Things” (up 21-19).

Finally, as the ball rolls on the UEFA European Football Championship, one evergreen hit makes its move: Baddiel, Skinner & Lightning Seeds’ 1996 anthem “Three Lions (Football’s Coming Home)” (via Epic). The chant-ready song is back in the top 40, at No. 32. “Three Lions” typically returns to the chart when England competes in major international tournaments. The single topped the chart for two separate one-week runs in 1996 to coincide with that year’s European Championship tournament, then a 1998 update for the World Cup reigned for three weeks. Powered by England’s run to the World Cup semi-finals, “Three Lions” returned to No. 1 in 2018.

The summer of Sabrina Carpenter continues to heat up.
Based on sales and streaming data published by the Official Charts Company, Carpenter is within touching distance of a second U.K. No. 1 this year with “Please Please Please” (Island).

The U.S. singer and actor is expected to climb the summit with her latest single, and snag a rare 1-2. Sabrina’s breakthrough hit Espresso,” which led the national tally for five weeks, is expected to hold at No. 2.

Eminem’s “Houdini” (Interscope) last week became the Detroit Rap God’s longest-reigning single, with a two-week stand. “Houdini” should complete the chart podium, dipping 1-3.

Meanwhile, Myles Smith’s U.K. breakthrough “Stargazing” (RCA) is tracking for its highest peak yet, and is anticipated to climb one spot to No. 6.

Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department (EMI), is chasing a seventh U.K. chart crown. It’s the leader on the Official Albums Chart Update, a touch over 1,100 chart units ahead of Billie Eilish’s former No. 1 Hit Me Hard And Soft (Interscope).

The highest new entry on the forthcoming albums survey is expected to be Paul McCartney & Wings’ One Hand Clapping (Capitol), a collection of previously-unreleased works recorded at Abbey Road Studios in 1973. It’s new at No. 3 on the chart blast and should become the band’s ninth U.K. top 10 appearance.

Also hunting a top 10 spot is English indie-rock act Sea Girls with Midnight Butterflies (No. 4 via Alt), Fred again..’s USB (up 171 places to No. 6 via Atlantic), the late David Bowie with the posthumous boxed set Rock ‘n’ Roll Star! (No. 7 via Parlophone) and U.S. country star Luke Combs’ with Fathers & Sons (No. 8 via Sony Music CG).

All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Charts are published Friday, June 21.

Billie Eilish won’t be beaten to the U.K. chart crown.
Based on sales and streaming data captured by the Official Charts Company, Eilish’s latest LP Hit Me Hard And Soft (Interscope) is outselling the rest of the top 5 combined.

It would be Eilish’s third consecutive U.K. No. 1 album. Her debut When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? bowed at No. 1 in 2019 and stayed there for three weeks, while Happier Than Ever opened at the summit in 2021, where it logged a single week.

In a distant second place on the chart blast is Zayn’s Room Under The Stairs (Republic Records), his fourth solo album and first in eight years. It’s set to become the former One Direction singer’s second solo top 10 album in the U.K., after 2016’s chart-topping debut effort Mind of Mine.
