With his latest feat, the Scottish singer and songwriter bags his fifth U.K. leader after “Someone You Loved” (from 2019), “Before You Go” (2019), “Forget Me” (2022) and “Pointless” (2023).
According to the Official Charts Company, Capaldi now sits alongside David Bowie, Beyoncé, Cheryl, All Saints and the Bee Gees among artists with five U.K. chart-topping singles to his name.

“With The Best” pulled off something of a miracle. The single, lifted from Capaldi’s forthcoming sophomore album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent, had trailed previous leader “Miracle” by Calvin Harris, and “Daylight,” by David Kushner, on the midweek survey before storming home in first place.
A special CD single and Capaldi’s Netflix documentary How I’m Feeling Now provide the punch. Almost 16,800 units of the single were shifted, the OCC reports, while two of his former leaders, “Forget Me” (up 8-7) and “Pointless” (up 17-16) are lifted by his emotional doc.
Desire to Be Heavenly Sent is scheduled for release May 19.
Meanwhile, “Miracle” (Columbia) dips 1-2 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart and remains the most-streamed track in the country with 5.6 million plays. U.S. viral star David Kushner makes his top 10 debut on the latest chart, published Friday, April 21, with “Daylight” new at No. 3. Kushner’s only other appearance in the top 40 was 2022’s “Miserable Man,” which got over the line at No. 39.
Post Malone earns his 15th top 20 hit, and just misses out on a ninth top ten, as his new pop-leaning single “Chemical” (Republic Records) blasts to No. 11. It’s his best-positioned single since 2019’s “Hollywood’s Bleeding,” which also reached No. 11.
Finally, rising U.S. rapper Ice Spice enjoys her first U.K. top 40 appearance with “Princess Diana” (10K Projects/Capitol), which has found new life thanks to a remix featuring Nicki Minaj. It’s at No. 22 on the latest tally.
Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s U.K. chart miracle continues to play out as their hit single locks-up a second week at No. 1.
The throwback rave tune “Miracle” (via Columbia) holds off Libianca’s rising Afrobeats track “People” (5K) for its second cycle atop the Official U.K. Singles Chart, published April 14. “People” lifts 4-2 for its peak position, ahead of Ed Sheeran’s former leader “Eyes Closed” (Atlantic), which holds at No. 3.
The highest new entry on the latest survey belongs to Drake, as “Search & Rescue” (OVO/Republic Records) bows at No. 5. Drizzy’s latest track, which includes the voices of Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner, is the Canadian singer and rapper’s 38th top 10 entry in the U.K.

As expected, Lewis Capaldi enjoys a sales spark following the release of his new Netflix documentary How I’m Feeling Now. The Scottish singer and songwriter sees three tracks climb the U.K. top 40 — “Forget Me” (up 45-8), “Pointless” (reenters at No. 17), and “How I’m Feeling Now” (up 37-24), all via EMI, while his debut 2019 LP Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent gains 17-4 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.
David Guetta scores a 46th top 10 appearance with “Baby Don’t Hurt Me” (Parlophone), the EDM star’s collaboration with Anne-Marie and Coi Leray. It’s new at No. 26 on the OCC’s singles tally. The bouncing tune, which samples Haddaway’s 1993 house hit “What Is Love,” becomes Anne-Marie’s 17th top 40 appearance and Leray’s second.
There’s a new K-pop girl group in the U.K. top flight. South Korean girl group Fifty Fifty make their first top 40 appearance with “Cupid” (WM Korea), new at No. 34. The four-piece comprises Aran, Keena, Saena and Sio, and was formed last year by South Korean entertainment agency ATTRAKT.
Finally, U.S. country star Morgan Wallen now has his first U.K. top 40 single, as “Last Night” (Republic Records) improves 59-35 in its sixth week on the survey. It’s lifted from his Billboard 200 leader One Thing At A Time, which scraped into the U.K. top 40 last month at No. 40.
BTS’s Jimin is on fire in the U.K., where “Like Crazy” (via BigHit Entertainment) blasts into the top 10, at No. 8.
Lifted from his debut LP FACE, “Like Crazy” is the highest U.K. chart appearance from a solo member of BTS, beating his own previous record, set just one week earlier with “Set Me Free Pt. 2,” which reached No. 30.
“Like Crazy” impacts the latest Official U.K. Singles Chart, published March 31 and led by Ed Sheeran’s “Eyes Closed,” which fires to No. 1 on debut.

Prior to Jimin’s two latest singles chart appearances, the only other BTS band member to enter the U.K. top 40 with a solo number was J-Hope, whose “One The Street” collaboration with J. Cole reached No. 37.
The seven-member K-pop superstar group — comprised of J-Hope, Jin, Suga, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook — has four U.K. Top 10 singles to date as a group, with “Dynamite,” “Butter” and Coldplay collab “My Universe” all hitting No. 3, and “Life Goes On” peaking at No. 10.
The boyband also has two U.K. No. 1 albums as a collective: 2019’s Map of the Soul – Persona and 2020’s Map of the Soul – 7.
As the K-pop superstars’ seven members explore their respective solo careers, he’s the fifth to snag a U.K. top 100 solo hit. Previously, Jungkook’s “Stay Alive” (No. 89), Jin’s “The Astronaut” (No. 61), and RM’s “Indigo” (No. 45) impacted the Official U.K. Singles Chart, along with J-Hope’s “On The Street”.
Lana Del Rey hits the U.K. albums chart for six with Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd (via Polydor), the new leader.
Ocean Blvd blasts to No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, the fastest-selling LP of 2023 so-far, passing the opening week of Pink’s recent leader Trustfall, the Official Charts Company reports.
The U.S. alternative pop artist’s ninth studio album becomes her sixth leader, after Born to Die (from 2012), Ultraviolence (2014), Lust for Life (2017), Norman F*cking Rockwell! (2019) and Chemtrails Over the Country Club (2021).

According to the OCC, Ocean Blvd delivers Del Rey’s strongest first week in the U.K. since 2014’s Ultraviolence.
With her latest crown, Del Rey ranks fifth all-time among female solo artists with the most U.K. No. 1s. Only Madonna (with 12), Taylor Swift (9), Kylie Minogue (8) and Barbra Streisand (7) have more.
“The achievement of Lana Del Rey in scoring six Number 1 albums in just 11 years is quite something, especially given she has done so with the biggest first week numbers of any album this year,” comments Martin Talbot, CEO of Official Charts Company. “She is a genuine superstar of our era.”
Coming in hot at No. 2 on the latest chart, published March 31, is Depeche Mode’s Memento Mori (Columbia), the legendary British synth-pop band’s first album since the 2022 death of bandmate Andy Fletcher. Memento Mori is the most downloaded album of the week, and becomes DM’s 18th U.K. top 10, and best chart position in a decade.
Reunited U.S. alternative rock outfit Fall Out Boy bags a fifth top 5 record with So Much (for) Stardust. It’s new at No. 3.
Pink Floyd’s epic 1973 album Dark Side of the Moon rockets back into the chart, thanks to a 50th anniversary reissue campaign. A vinyl pressing powers The Dark Side of the Moon – Live at Wembley 1974 (Parlophone) into fourth spot on the all-genres albums chart, while The Dark Side of the Moon – 50 Years (Rhino) reissue returns at No. 17, for its 558th week on the survey.
The album last appeared in the top 20 almost 12 years ago, back in October 2011, the OCC reports, but has never led the chart. Its peak spot is No. 2.
Finally, U.S. country star Luke Combs completes the U.K. top 5 with Gettin’ Old (Sony Music CG), his fourth studio album. Gettin’ Old bows at No. 5 for Combs’ U.K. career-best position.
Ed Sheeran dethrones Miley Cyrus on the U.K. singles chart as “Eyes Closed” (Atlantic) sprints to No. 1.
With “Eyes Closed,” the first single lifted from Sheeran’s forthcoming album Subtract, the Englishman lands his 14th best-seller on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, published March 31, and climbs the all-time leaderboard.
In doing so, “Eyes Closed” ends the 10-week reign of “Flowers”. Cyrus’ hit is stopped one week short of equaling Tones And I’s 11-week run with “Dance Monkey,” which remains the longest-running leader by a female solo artist.

Sheeran now equals the 14 career No. 1s accumulated by Cliff Richard and Westlife, slotting into equal third on the all-time list. Only Elvis Presley (with 21) and the Beatles (17) have more U.K. No. 1s, the Official Charts Company reports.
Also, “Eyes Closed” becomes Sheeran’s 41st Official top 10 single, good enough for fifth on the list of all-time top 10 appearances.
After two-and-a-half months, Cyrus’ “Flowers” (Columbia) loses its crown, dipping 1-2. It continues to rack-up a marketing-leading volume of streams, the OCC reports.
Further down the list, rising Afrobeats star Libianca hits a new peak position with “People” (5K), up 5-4, while BTS member Jimin scores a new mark with “Like Crazy” (BigHit Entertainment). It’s new at No. 8, for the first top 10 appearance by a solo member of BTS. “Like Crazy” debuts just a week after Jimin bagged a solo career best by a BTS member with “Set Me Free Pt. 2,’ which arrived at No. 30.
Finally, 22-year U.K. based artist Paris Paloma bags her first appearance on the Official Chart with “Labour” (Nettwerk). The folk ballad, a viral rallying call against misogyny, starts at No. 29.
Ed Sheeran’s next album campaign is already off to a flying start in the U.K., where lead single “Eyes Closed” (via Atlantic) is racing to No. 1.
“Eyes Closed” dropped last Friday (March 24), ahead of Sheeran’s Subtract album, due out May 5, and it’s the new No. 1 on the Official Chart Update.

If it holds its turf, “Eyes Closed” will give Sheeran a 14th U.K. No. 1, an effort that would see him pass Madonna (13) and draw level with Cliff Richard and Westlife (14 each) on the all-time list.
A Sheeran chart victory would spell the end of a 10-week reign for Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” (Columbia). As it stands, Cyrus’ streak is just one week short of Tones And I’s 11-week reign with “Dance Monkey,” the all-time stretch at No. 1 in the U.K. for a solo female singer.
After becoming the first solo member of BTS to crack the top 30 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, Jimin is set for become the first member of the superstar K-pop to crack the U.K. top 20.
Jimin’s “Like Crazy” (BigHit Entertainment), which arrived last Friday with an official music video, is set to enter the chart at No. 11, having slipped from No. 7 on the first chart blast in the cycle.
“Set Me Free – Pt 2” and “Like Crazy” both appear on Jimin’s solo LP Face, which also hit digital service providers last Friday.
Finally, British singer and songwriter Paris Paloma is eyeing her first appearance in the U.K. top 40. “Labour” (via Nettwerk), which has been described as a fiery feminist anthem, starts at No. 30 on the Official Chart Update.

Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” (via Columbia) is the song that won’t wither in the U.K., where it logs a 10th consecutive week at No. 1.
By extending its streak, “Flowers” becomes the longest-running No. 1 single by a female solo artist this decade, the Official Charts Company reports, overtaking Olivia Rodrigo’s nine-week haul with 2021’s “drivers license.”
“Flowers” joins Harry Styles’ “As It Was” as the second-longest-reigning single of the 2020s, also at 10 weeks. Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” is the boss, with 11 weeks.

Cyrus now has another major record in her sights. If “Flowers” can add another week at the summit, it’ll equal Tones And I’s 2019 hit “Dance Monkey,” which racked up 11 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 to stand tall as the longest-running No. 1 in the U.K. by a solo female artist.
As “Flowers” holds its top spot, and, once again, finishes the chart week as the U.K.’s most-streamed single, its parent Endless Summer Vacation dips 1-3 on the national albums survey.
Meanwhile, Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding make a move with their latest collaboration, “Miracle” (Columbia). The rave tune rises 3-2 on the latest chart, published March 24, and is the most-downloaded single of the week, the OCC reports.
Afrobeats acts Rema (“Calm Down” up 5-4 via Mavin) and Libianca (“People” up 7-5 via 5K) enjoy career-best peaks on the latest singles chart, while London rapper Strandz’s “Us Against The World” (Relentless) lifts 10-9, and Metro Boomin’s “Creepin” (Relentless) with 21 Savage and The Weeknd fires back into the top 10 following the release of a remix with Diddy. It’s up 33-10, just three places behind its peak position.
The highest new entry on the latest tally belongs to Taylor Swift, whose “All Of The Girls You Loved Before” (EMI) bows at No. 11. The song, part of a four-pack of previously-unreleased works, released to celebrate the start of her The Eras Tour, was a late cut from her Lover album. “All Of The Girls You Loved Before” is Swift’s 44th U.K. top 40.

The U.S. pop superstar last Friday (March 17) dropped a batch of recordings, including “All The Girls You Loved Before” a previously-unreleased song that didn’t make the final pressing of 2019’s Lover LP.
Perhaps it should have made the cut. “All The Girls” is on track for the week’s highest debut, at No. 7, for what would be Swift’s 22nd top 10 appearance, according to the Official Charts Company’ first chart blast of the week.

At the top end of the First Look chart, which captures sales and streaming data from the first 48 hours in the cycle, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” is on target for a 10th consecutive week at No. 1.
Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding could have a say in that. The pair’s latest collaboration, the ‘90s rave-channeling “Miracle” is set to lift 3-2 in its second week. Meanwhile, Pinkpantheress appears to have missed the chance for a maiden No. 1 with “Boy’s a liar,” which, after several weeks at No. 2, slips to No. 8 on the chart blast.
Further down the list, BTS’ Jimin could snag his debut solo top 20 with “Set Me Free Pt. 2.” It’s new at No. 14 on the chart blast, coming soon after bandmate J-Hope cracked the top 40 (and made chart history) with his J. Cole collaboration, “On The Street.”

At the top of the tally, published March 17, “Flowers” secures a ninth week at No. 1. Its parent album Endless Summer Vacation starts at the summit of the Official U.K. Albums Chart, giving the U.S. pop star a rare chart double. Album tracks “River” (No. 16) and “Jades” (No. 27) mark their entries on the national singles survey.
In a tight U.K. race, it’s the Lathums who take the silverware as the Nothing to a Little Bit More (via Island) debuts at No. 1.
The Wigan, England indie rock group is now two-from-two on the U.K. tally, after their 2021 debut How Beautiful Life Can Be also climbed the U.K.’s chart mountain.
“18,000 Lathums strong and we can’t thank you all enough,” reads a post on the band’s Instagram. “With the outright dedication and power of the community that we have amassed, we have managed to clinch a consecutive No. 1 album with our second body of work. This is a statement for all to hear, that the power we hold together through love and compassion can take us anywhere, and that you can never underestimate the power of the common people.”

After taking the lead at the midweek point, the Lathums’ latest album squeezed home by just 700 chart sales, as slowthai Ugly (Method) finishes in second place.
The British rapper (real name: Tyron Frampton) now has three consecutive U.K. top 10s, including his Mercury Prize-nominated 2019 debut Nothing Great About Britain (No. 9) and his 2021 chart leader Tyron. Ugly was the week’s best-seller on wax, the Official Charts Company reports.
Further down the list, published March 10, Mimi Webb bows at No. 4 with her debut studio album, Amelia (RCA). It’s the Canterbury, England-born singer and songwriter’s second top 10 appearance, following 2021’s Seven Shades of Heartbreak, which reached No. 9.
The late Eva Cassidy earns a posthumous top 10 with I Can Only Be Me (Blix Street), a collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra and Australian-British composer Christopher Willis.
I Can Only Be Me becomes the American singer and songwriter’s sixth top 10 title in the U.K., including No. 1s for the 1998 collection Songbird and 2003’s American Tune, both scaling the chart well after her passing in November 1996, following a battle with cancer.
Finally, De La Soul’s 1989 debut 3 Feet High (Chrysalis) rises to No. 12, a new chart high. The album is reissued following the death last month of founding member Trugoy the Dove, and follows the long-overdue release of the hip-hop pioneers’ catalog on streaming services. 3 Feet High originally peaked at No. 13 back in 1990.
