It looks like the culture will continue to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show. The NFL have announced they have extended their deal with Roc Nation to curate the festivities.
As spotted on Yahoo! Entertainment, the National Football League will continue their partnership with Jay-Z to curate their biggest event of the year. As exclusively reported by Bloomberg News, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell disclosed the deal saying the partnership is “mutually positive” while attending the annual owners meeting in Atlanta. “I’m not sure either one of us really spend much time talking about contracts. Jay is happy” he said. “Desiree Perez is happy. I’m happy, so we’re all good.”
Back in 2019, the NFL signed the original deal with Roc Nation to curate the Halftime Show festivities. According to ESPN, the original contract was for about $25 million over a five-year term. In addition to choosing the talent, Roc Nation also assisted in the league’s commitment to social justice via their Inspire Change program. Since then, the Super Bowl has featured some of the culture’s biggest and brightest stars. In 2022, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige and Eminem took the stage. Rihanna headlined the show in 2023, and Usher took the baton earlier this year.
Kendrick Lamar has been chosen as the headliner for Super Bowl LIX. It is set to take place on Feb. 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La.
Since Taylor Swift became a major part of Kansas City Chiefs games, a couple of announcers have tripped up when referring to her during game day broadcasts — but Joe Buck doesn’t plan to fall into that trap.
After co-announcer Troy Aikman mistakenly referred to the pop star as Travis Kelce’s “Mrs.” during the Chiefs vs. New Orleans Saints match on Monday, Buck revealed that such missteps wouldn’t fly in his house. “My daughters have warned me multiple times today: ‘Dad, I know you think you’re funny, don’t make any jokes,’” Buck told the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback on air.
Moments before that, cameras had panned to Swift’s reaction to one of Kelce’s second-quarter plays. As the “Anti-Hero” singer cheered and applauded her boyfriend, Aikman said: “The Mrs. likes it.”

“You know they’re not married?” Buck corrected him at the time, to which Aikman replied, “I’m sure I’m in trouble for saying that.”
“I mean, it happens,” added Buck.
Aikman’s slip-up comes about 10 months after Tony Romo made headlines for a similar reason. During a Chiefs game in the 2023-24 season — which later saw Kansas City win the Super Bowl — Romo accidentally said during his broadcast, “As you see Kelce’s wife, Taylor Swift, in the audience … I’m sorry, girlfriend.”
Currently on a break from her global Eras Tour, Swift has attended several Chiefs games so far this season to cheer Kelce on. At her most recent outing to Arrowhead Stadium, the 14-time Grammy winner sported a plaid dress, platform boots and eye-catching glitter freckles on her cheeks.
After the game ended with a Chiefs victory 26-13, the tight end joined Swift in her box suite and leaned in for a PDA-filled moment, as captured on camera by a fan. The team remains undefeated with a 5-0 record, and will next face off against their 2024 Super Bowl opponents, the San Francisco 49ers, on Oct. 20.
What is it with these former Cowboys quarterbacks? Last year it was Tony Romo erroneously referring to Taylor Swift as Travis Kelce‘s “wife” while calling Kansas City Chiefs games — she is not married to the tight end she’s been dating for a year. Then, on Monday night (Oct. 7) another former Cowboys QB, Troy Aikman, referred to Swift as “the Mrs.” when the camera cut to the 34-year-old star after a second-quarter play by Kelce.
“The Mrs. likes it,” Aikman said as the camera flashed on Swift’s celebration in an Arrowhead Stadium VIP suite, where she was joined by her dad, Scott Swift (as well as Travi’s dad, Ed Kelce). His broadcast mate, Joe Buck, quickly corrected the error, saying, “You know they’re not married?”

“Oh, I know,” Aikman replied. “I’m sure I’m in trouble for saying that.”
After skipping two games, Swift was back in the suite on Monday night in a plaid dress paired with knee-high boots and glitter freckles. Whether is was celebrating his 35th birthday over the weekend, or having Swift back in the house, Kelce seemed energized during the 26-13 win over the New Orleans Saints, putting up his second best stats of a so-far lackluster season with nine catches for 70 yards to help the Chiefs go to 5-0.
Travis wasn’t the only one glad to have Taylor back on Monday. His older brother, retired NFL legend Jason Kelce, took a moment out of his commentary during the pre-game to acknowledge Swift’s fashionable arrival at Arrowhead. “Hey, look at that now… that looks good,” Jason Kelce said as the camera cut to the singer making her entrance.
Swift celebrated the Chiefs’ fifth straight win to start the season — they are one of two undefeated teams so far this season — by taking a picture in the VIP suite with Chariah Gordon, fiancée of Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr. According to People, Gordon asked Swift “How do you feel after this win?” while the pair were standing in front of a framed poster from Taylor’s Eras Tour.
Noticing her picture on the wall behind them, Swift joked, “Sorry for photobombing myself.” Swift is gearing up to go back on the road on Oct. 18 with the first of three gigs at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Celine Dion has long been the exquisite image of pop opulence. The singer known for her peerless vocals and warehouse full of bespoke, bedazzled gowns is the definition of musical elegance. Which is why it makes perfect sense that she helped introduce Sunday Night Football’s classic NFL grudge match between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers for the teams’ first primetime showdown since 1982; and their first game against each other since Super Bowl XXX in 1996.

To the strains of her 1996 Billboard Hot 100 No. 2 hit “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” Dion waxed poetic about her love for the game as the camera panned past a bouquet of roses atop a grand piano. “I think my favorite thing about this game is its power to connect who we are, to who we were,” she said. “To prove that our most powerful memories, our most enduring loves, can stay with us forever.”
Strolling into the recording studio in an uncharacteristically dressed-down look accented by Chuck Taylor high tops and a grey sweatshirt commemorating the 1996 Super Bowl, Dion smiled at the camera and said with a mischievous grin, “You know what I’m talking about, right? Sometimes, some nights, it all just comes back.”

Cue throwback footage of past classic Steelers/Cowboys match-ups featuring such stars of yore as Cowboys QB Roger Staubach and Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw, while Dion waxed rhapsodic over “their love affair — well, maybe not love the way I usually sing about it, but still, you know, work with me here.” Dion then quoted a few lyrics from her power ballad — ‘When you touch me like this. When you hold me like that’ — over NFL Films footage of huge hits and testy exchanges,” adding comically, “It kind of fits, no?”
Flashing forward to more recent times, Dion added, “But really what beautiful passion it produced, what painful heartbreak it revealed so, so long ago. Like so many old flames it always feels right when they’re back together. Don’t you think? Like tonight evoking the kind of magic they once produced. the Cowboys and the Steelers, a timeless classic on Sunday night.”
Her arms resolutely crossed, Dion got viewers ready for the game by invoking the majesty of Sunday Night Football amid a slow-motion montage of the teams’ coaches getting celebratory Gatorade baths as the strains of her ballad rose to a crescendo. Oh, and she got totally doused with a double Gatorade shower at the end that left her pumping her fists in joy.
Dion has recently begun to come out of the shadows after a few years off the radar during her battle with Stiff-Person Syndrome — chronicled in this year’s I Am: Celine Dion documentary — which resulted in her cancelling all of her 2023 and 2024 tour dates. She eased back into the spotlight this summer when she performed at the opening ceremony for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Boy, I tell ya’ — Taylor Swift publicly endorsed Kamala Harris after the vice president dog-walked unhinged pet protector Donald Trump during the presidential debate Tuesday night, and the MAGA world had been in shambles ever since.
Trump tried to clap back at Swift’s endorsement during a Fox News call where he mentioned, “I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better” than Swift, referring to NFL great Patrick Mahomes‘ wife, who is apparently a Trump supporter.
This prompted a reporter to ask Mahomes whether he too would like to offer a public endorsement of Trump, to which he essentially replied: “Nah — cancel that noise. You should go vote though.”
“I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way,” Mahomes said during the Wednesday press conference. “I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote. It’s to inform people to do their own research and then make the best decision for them and their family.”
“You’ve seen my history,” he continued. “I’ve come up with people from every aspect of life, from every background, and the best thing about football locker rooms and kind of how I’ve grown up in baseball locker rooms is people can come together and achieve something and achieve a common goal. We talked about it a while back. If we can do that as a nation, we can get the best out of each other, so that’s something I do every single day.”
So, basically, Mahomes decided to Kumbaya his way out of explicitly declaring his support for Trump or Harris. After all, we saw what happened when WNBA phenom Caitlin Clark “liked” Swift’s post endorsing Harris and MAGA minions across the white-suprema-net told her to shut up and dribble.
In fact, Clark responded to the backlash pretty much the same way Mahomes responded to the inquiry about who he endorses: by declining to explicitly endorse either candidate and, instead, telling people to go out and vote.
“I think for myself, I have my amazing platform, so I think the biggest thing will be just encourage people to register to vote,” she said. “It’s the second time I can vote in a election; at 22, I could vote when I was 18. I can do that, that’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have. And that’s the same thing Taylor did. And I think continue to educate yourself with the candidates that we have, the policies that they’re supporting. I think that’s the biggest thing you can do, and that’s what I would recommend to every single person that has that opportunity in our country.”
Yeah, the athletes are out here either dodging MAGA bullets and anti-MAGA bullets alike.
Must be exhausting. Couldn’t be me.
Man, F**k Trump. Harris 2024!
