Luke Combs is nothing if not a hospitable guest. The “Fast Car” country star proved it on Thursday (August 1) when he dropped by the Cincinnati Bengals’ pre-season practice to hang with some of the home team’s stars before setting up shop for two nights at the NFL squad’s home stadium this weekend.
According to ESPN, Combs braved the oppressive humidity to chat on the sidelines between drills with star wide receivers Tee Higgins and Ja’Maar Chase, as well as defensive end Sam Hubbard and team president Mike Brown. In a video posted by the team, Higgins can be seen admiring Combs’ new watch as his teammates are put through their paces in the background.
Hubbard told the sports network that Combs was, “a really nice guy… He was super down-to-earth, relatable. Cool to see all the guys interacting with him. Cool to see the owners talking to him when he was about to play in the stadium.”

North Carolina native Combs — who typically cheers for the Carolina Panthers — has worn a custom Bengals jersey with his name on it before on his current Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old stadium tour. The drop-in came a day before the singer will play his first of back-to-back shows in The Jungle, the affectionate nickname for the team’s home Paycor Stadium.
Friday night’s (August 2) gig will feature support from Cody Jinks, Charles Wesley Godwin, Hailey Whitters and the Wilder Blue, while Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny, Drew Parker and Colby Acuff will warm things up on Saturday (August 3); local forecasts predict potential heavy rainstorms around showtime on Friday.
The Bengals, who are expected to make another Super Bowl run this year after falling out of the race in 2023 following quarterback Joe Burrow’s season-ending wrist injury, seemed excited to have a visit from their celebrity guest. Tennessee native Higgins — who moved to Nashville in 2014 — said he’s very familiar with Combs and appreciated the pop-in. “It shows that he’s actually invested in sports and not just an artist,” Higgins said. “It’s pretty cool.”
Not for nothing, Hubbard said Combs will be making his fantasy draft picks inside Paycor Stadium this weekend during his two-night stand. In honor of the visit, the Bengals Pro Shop revealed on Friday morning that they have custom Combs t-shirts for the weekend featuring the singer’s name above the team’s roaring Who Dey tiger logo.

Next to the release of the NFL schedule, learning who will join Madden NFL’s exclusive 99 club and the ratings of star players in the league have become yearly significant events. Like last year, a receiver is the first player to land in the prestigious club.
The first name announced joining Madden NFL 25’s 99 Club is none other than the Cheetah, Miami Dolphins’ speedy wideout Tyreek Hill.
With the announcement, Hill became the first Dolphins player ever to earn the honor.
Last year, Minnesota Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson got the 99 Club party started this year, so it was only right that Hill got the honor.
Jefferson’s rating took a 1-point hit this year; he is 98, still pretty high, but we are sure he feels he also believes he should still be in the 99 Club.
The Madden NFL official X account shared a video of Hill receiving a briefcase featuring his custom gold chain and custom Xbox Elite controller and a video from Eli Manning welcoming him to the 99 Club.
Also, just like the previous year, EA Sports has launched an official website where you can check the ratings as they are released.
They also revealed the top receivers and safeties in the game.
Wide Receivers Safeties
Tyreek Hill (99 OVR) 1. Jessie Bates III (97 OVR)
Justin Jefferson (98 OVR) 2. Antoine Winfield Jr. (94 OVR)
Ceedee Lamb (96 OVR) 3. Minkah Fitzpatrick (93 OVR)
A.J. Brown (95 OVR) 4. Derwin James Jr. (91 OVR)
Amon-Ra St. Brown (95 OVR) 5. Tyrann Mathieu (91 OVR)
Davante Adams (94 OVR) 6. Budda Baker (90 OVR)
Ja’Marr Chase (93 OVR) 7. Kevin Byard III (89 OVR)
Stefon Diggs (92 OVR) 8. Kyle Hamilton (89 OVR)
Brandon Aiyuk (91 OVR) 9. Talanoa Hufanga (88 OVR)
Mike Evans (91 OVR) 10. Jevon Holland (88 OVR)
EA Sports will team with ESPN to roll out 99 Club members throughout the week and will share that news with you as its announced.
Once Again, It’s Arguing Time
Of course, like every year, there are reactions to these ratings. Some are stunned that Hill is the first Dolphins player to make it in the club.
“First ever is wild seeing that Marino, Jason Taylor, and Zach Thomas,” one person on X, formerly Twitter, wrote.
Another user wrote, “Stefon Diggs rated too high (based on age and canyon of a drop off last year), Jamar Chase rated too low. Jefferson probably deserves 99 based on how he dominated consistently even after missing a big chunk of the season last year.”
We only expect the discourse to get louder when other positions are revealed.
If we had to guess who would be in there, we think Patrick Mahomes will end up in the 99 Club.

Travis Kelce seems to have a particular way of speaking and a few popular catchphrases, and his fellow NFL players had a field day impersonating him in a hilarious Instagram video. Jason Kelce was a Super Bowl champ, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and retired last year after 13 seasons as one of the NFL‘s most reliable, indomitable centers to ever play the game. But in a recent appearance on comedian Andrew Santino’s Whiskey Ginger podcast, the second-most-famous Kelce said that his, and his family’s life, have definitely been given a make-over thanks to brother Travis Kelce‘s high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift.
Santino asked how Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, has been handling the spotlight since her brother-in-law began dating the biggest pop star in the world last summer and if she finds the added scrutiny to be annoying or kind of fun. “I think it’s both,” Jason said, noting that the Prime Video documentary Kelce following her husband’s 2022-2023 season with the Philadelphia Eagles may have helped prime Kylie for the avalanche of attention; the doc debuted in September, right around the time Swift and Travis Kelce made their romance official.

“I think she’s a little big uncomfortable with, I guess, how much it’s become and our family’s out there, like people know what our kids look like,” he said of the couple’s three young daughters. “We’ve tried to retract from that a little bit. But I think she enjoys the fact that she gets to go and do charitable outings and she gets to give back to the community.”
That said, they both understand that the scrutiny comes with the territory of fame and even if it gets to be “too much” at times, Jason said the microscope on his younger brother is beyond anything he could imagine. “Travis and Taylor have taken it to another level and that’s a whole other side of it,” said Jason. “Kylie and I think we have it bad, and then we go hang out with one of them for a second. This is a whole other situation here. I don’t even know how to, like… you can’t be a normal person at that point.”
Despite the more intense spotlight, Jason said he hasn’t seen Travis turn into someone else. “I haven’t seen him change one bit,” Jason Kelce said of his three-time Super Bowl-winning brother. “I think it’s a compliment. He stayed true to himself. He’s still humble. He treats everyone with the utmost respect, like they’re equals regardless of who they are.”
Travis echoed that emotion in a Good Morning America interview last week, in which he said that he’s always been a “very grounded guy” and that he’s “so fortunate, so grateful” for all the opportunities that have come his way lately.

The drive is a bit longer, but Travis Kelce’s longtime barber, Patty Cuts’ Patrick Regan, said that he has nothing but good things to say about his pal’s relationship with Taylor Swift. During this week’s episode of the Your Day Off hair industry podcast, Regan talked about dealing with the insane amount of attention he’s gotten since the singer began dating his now most-famous client and what it’s been like to be pulled into the Traylor orbit.
“I know her as a person and she’s just a really nice person,” Regan said of the pop icon in describing what it’s like to swept up in Swift’s A-list world. “She’s very interested in what you’re saying. She doesn’t act like the most famous celebrity in the world.”
Regan noted that he’s been giving the Super Bowl champ Kansas City Chiefs tight end the “same exact fade” for the past six years, but that it appears to be catching on in a major way lately because, well, Taylor, or course. “She’s a very nice person and she’s a good girlfriend to my friend, so it’s pretty cool,” Regan said of the singer he met during last year’s NFL season when Swift and Kelce went public with their romance in Septembrer. In December, Regan posted a pic in which he was giving Kelce a game day hair tune-up, with a photo credit to Swift for capturing the moment.

And while the romance between the two high-profile celebs doesn’t strike Regan as “too crazy, he did mention that Travis had to “change houses,” which was not that big a deal. “Now I have to drive further, and there’s more security usually, you know,” Regan said of the intensified scrutiny and safety measures surrounding the relationship.
“Travis is one of my bros, so it’s easy. I used to just go sleep at his house every weekend,” he added. “So now things have changed a little bit, but it’s cool to see… I’m happy for him to see the stardom that he’s getting. Because he’s just a normal guy too.” In addition, Regan said it’s been a blast to attend games with Taylor, especially since, “we get a whole separate box now, we’re like right in the middle of the field… She’s a football fan now, which is really cool.”
And though neither Swift nor Kelce have intimated that there is any next step on the horizon, the show’s hosts, of course, had to ask “so, when’s the wedding?” Regan laughed nervously and joked, “hopefully soon. That would be fun!”

A lot of responsibility comes with being a professional athlete. Patrick Mahomes has commented on the off field behavior of Rashee Rice and Harrison Butker.
This week the Kansas City Chiefs commenced their organized team activities. As expected their star quarterback spoke to the press and he received some questions regarding his teammates Harrison Butker and Rashee Rice. Earlier this month Butker made some very polarizing comments during a speech he made at Benedictine College where he suggested that the female graduates in the crowd would get more personal fulfillment in their lives by being homemakers. Additionally, he took a strong stance against the LGBT+ community.
Patrick Mahomes made it clear he doesn’t share the same thoughts as Butker. “There’s certain things that he said that I don’t necessarily agree with, but I understand the person that he is, and he is trying to do whatever he can to lead people in the right direction,” Patrick said. “And that might not be the same values as I have. But at the same time, I’m going to judge him by the character that he shows every single day. That’s a great person, and we’ll continue to move along and try to help build each other up to make ourselves better every single day” he added.
Rashee Rice also was a subject of conversation as the wide receiver was involved in a serious car accident in Dallas last month. Additionally, he was alleged to have involvement in an assault that took place at a Dallas nightclub on May 6. Patrick Mahomes expressed his support and said no one is perfect. “I think it’s just trying to do whatever we can to teach him how to learn from his mistakes,” he said. “I mean, obviously, that was a big mistake. But you have to learn from it, make sure it doesn’t happen again and try to do whatever you can to be the best person you can be in society, not only for yourself but for the people around you.”
The Kansas City Chiefs kick off their 2024 NFL season against the Baltimore Ravens on September 5.
From Super Bowl touch downs to Taylor Swift, Patrick Mahomes has set up all of Travis Kelce‘s greatest catches.
On the latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday (May 23), the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback revealed that he was the one who first encouraged his teammate to shoot his shot with the “Anti-Hero” pop star. “I have to take some of the credit,” a smiling Mahomes told McAfee. “I was the one who invited Travis to the first Taylor concert, when the friendship bracelet was… He was sitting in my suite, so I feel like I was the matchmaker.”
As revealed by Kelce on past episodes of his New Heights podcast, his and Swift’s love story dates back to the singer’s Eras Tour stops in Kansas City last summer, which the tight end attended. While there, he tried to slip the 14-time Grammy winner a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, but was disappointed to find that his future girlfriend wasn’t meeting guests that night.
According to Mahomes, however, he was the one who insisted that Kelce to try out the bracelet idea. “I had some input in there as well,” the three-time Super Bowl champion continued on McAfee’s show. “I was like, ‘Dude, just go for it. Just go for it.’ You know Travis, man. He does and he’s a great dude.”
Trending on Billboard
Though the bracelet-giving tactic wasn’t initially successful for Kelce, his gesture eventually caught the attention of Swift. Just a couple months later, she attended her first of many Chiefs games at Arrowhead Stadium, and the Ohio native has since become a fixture at the superstar’s Eras Tour shows across the world.
Swift has also become a friend of the Mahomes family since dating Kelce, with the “Fortnight” musician getting particularly close with the quarterback’s wife, retired soccer player Brittany Mahomes, over the course of the 2023-24 season. The two women frequently sat together at games and hung out together in New York City a handful of times; plus, Swift attended the Mahomies Foundation charity gala with Kelce earlier this year and donated four Eras tickets to the cause.
See Mahomes recall his role in Swift and Kelce’s romance below.
