Okay 80’s babies, if y’all needed any more reason to completely love Boy Meets World‘s Topanga (Danielle Fishel), she just gave us (DJ Khaled voice) another one.

Over the weekend social media was abuzz with Danielle Fisher’s latest TikTok post in which she spoke on some of her favorite sneaker silhouettes and in the video not only did she reveal which kicks were her favorite, but also showed off a pretty impressive sneaker collection that no one knew she had. First showing off a gang of shelves with numerous Dunks, Jordans and Air Force 1’s, Fisher went on to talk about which kicks have cracked her top 5 over the last few moons and revealed that the Anna Wintour 3s, UNDEFEATED x Nike Dunk Low “5 On It”, Aleali May x Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT “Califia,” Nike Dunk Low “Safari Mix”, and limited edition Melody Ehsani’s Air Jordan 1 Mids, are her favorite sneakers of all-time.

Truth be told, we co-signing it and not just cause we still have a 90’s sized crush on her.

On top of having a dope collection and pretty respectable top five, all the kicks she showed off her wrinkles from some wear and tear, meaning she actually wears her sneakers and doesn’t just collect to show off or stack them.

Oh Topanga, how thy sneaker loving heart pines for thee. Corey really dropped the ball by not wifing you up.

Check out Topanga’s top five sneaker list below and let us know what you think and which gems you might’ve spotted in her closet behind her.

And of course, don’t forget to check out this month’s Fresh Picks (so far) in our Spotify playlist, linked below.

Freshest Find: Dominic Fike, “7 Hours”

This week’s Freshest Find goes to alt-rock/rap/pop straddler, Dominic Fike: last Friday (July 7), the multi-hyphenate released his second album, Sunburn, a collection of older songs that explores themes related to his past. Fike explores his alt-R&B side with standout album cut, “7 Hours,” where he sings about driving seven hours to see his lover, only for them to not give him the time of day.

FendiDa Rappa feat. Cardi B, “Point Me 2”

Cardi B is continuing her outstanding feature run by hopping on FendiDa Rappa’s “Point Me 2.” The collab comes after Fendi’s viral Jersey club-inspired single, “Point Me to the Sl-ts,” where she calls out her male counterparts (“N—-as dissing when they rap, should we call it drill?/ N—-as capping in they raps, should we give ’em deals?”) and proudly showcases her lust. Here, Cardi checks in around the 2:20 mark and wastes no times matching Fendi’s energy, rapping, “B—hes talkin’ all that rah rah, I don’t feel it though/ Like the Plan B didn’t work, baby, I’m in this hoe.”

LUCKI, “2021 Vibes”

The Cash Cobain-produced track “2021 Vibes” sees LUCKI delving deeper into his world of hazy hedonism. Through a drowsy delivery, the Chicago rapper calls himself the “codeine cowboy in the flesh” — which makes sense given the title of its parent album, s*x m*ney dr*gs.

Mick Jenkins feat. JID, “Smoke Break-Dance”

Mick Jenkins and JID linked to take a smoke break: this bass and piano-driven jazz rap song is particularly introspective, with an accompanying video that shows scenes of Jenkins unbothered amongst chaos and young Black men succumbing to societal pressures. “Smoke Break-Dance” acts as a conversation piece about Black male plight in America, with the end of the video including a bell hooks quote that reads, “The first act of violence that patriarchy demands of males is not violence toward women. Instead patriarchy demands of all males that they engage in acts of psychic self-mutilation, that they kill off the emotional parts of themselves. If an individual is not successful in emotionally crippling himself, he can count on patriarchal men to enact rituals of power that will assault his self-esteem.”

Avenoir, “WHO DO U LUV”

Slowing things down a little, Avenoir goes deep in his bag on his new single, “WHO DO U LUV.” The Canadian singer questions his lover’s feelings towards him, but also assures that the two can rekindle their emotions by making love, before the four-minute song concludes with an electric guitar solo.

AntsLive, “Ooh La La”

UK rapper AntsLive is practicing his French on “Ooh La La.” With his (not actual) grandfather in tow in the video, the rising rapper shows a chic side to his repertoire, with his trademark tongue-in-cheek vocals about ongoing relationships and international love interests.

Marques Martin, “Butterfly”

Brooklyn-based musician Marques Martin collides synths and deep bass lines for a chaotic, yet somehow cohesive, new offering called “Butterfly.” “The beat at most points feels heavy, but then the synth floats euphorically in and out of the song,” he told Billboard about the song’s productions. “The combo gives the track gravity and lets it sit in a middle ground of aggressive/assertive but uplifting.” “Butterfly” appears on his new EP, sex on the first.

8 New Must-Hear Country Songs: Jo Dee Messina, Frank Ray, Wyatt Ellis, Camille Parker & More

In this week’s batch of new songs, Jo Dee Messina extends her current career resurgence with an uplifting empowerment anthem, while Frank Ray offers a 15-song debut that serves as a perfect soundtrack for any party. Elsewhere, bluegrass wunderkind Wyatt Ellis showcases his mandolin prowess on a new song with bluegrass stalwart (and fellow mandolin powerhouse) Sierra Hull. Also, veteran country quartet Girls Next Door reunites again after more than a decade.

Jo Dee Messina, “Just to Be Loved”

Following her recent career resurgence, thanks to her classic “Heads Carolina, Tails California” being interpolated as part of Cole Swindell’s chart-topper “She Had Me at Heads Carolina” (in addition to their subsequent collaboration on a remake of track), Messina returns with this uptempo track she wrote with Jess Cates, Tim Nichols and Jordan Mohilowski. Here, Messina’s voice is as charismatic as ever, further elevated by sprightly mandolin and shimmering production. She delivers this song’s uplifting message with conviction, making its statement of valuing self-acceptance and self-love over chasing the adoration of others a worthy addition to the country canon of uplifting female empowerment anthems such as Martina McBride’s “This One’s For the Girls” and Maren Morris’ “Girl.”

Girls Next Door, “What’s This Thing (You’ve Got About Leaving)”

The quartet of Cindy Nixon Psanos, Diane Williams Austin, Tammy Stephens Smith and Doris King Merrit notched nine singles on the Billboard country charts in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including the 1986 top 10 hit “Slow Boat to China.” The group disbanded in 1991 to focus on their families, and briefly reunited in 2011. They come together again on this fiddle-drenched, harmony-soaked track that reflects on fighting urges to take flight from a steady relationship. Though the production here sounds slightly dated, the group’s harmonies are tight and joyous.

Frank Ray, Frank Ray

Ray first broke through with his Spanish-incorporating song “Streetlights,” and followed with the top 20 Country Airplay track “Country’d Look Good on You.” Both songs are included on his 15-track debut album, which is a deft mix of country, R&B and Latin. “Wasting Your Words” is a sultry, horn-driven blend of Latin and R&B. Elsewhere, his extends his affable vocal to showcase his range on “Learn Something New.” Evidenced by songs like “Let It Drop,” “Out on Me,” the twangy “Party With Strangers” and the ‘80s pop shaded “Spring Break,” this album is a light-hearted soundtrack that’s perfect for any party.

Drew Baldridge, “Honky Tonk Town”

Like many artists at the moment, Baldridge draws on the enduring popularity of rock-influenced, high-octane ‘90s country music. He teamed with writers Lydia Dall and Joel Hutsell on this track, which feels like an amalgam of the boot-scootin’, dancehall ready songs that artists like Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson and Shenandoah took to the top of the country charts in the 1990s. Propelled by relentless drums and guitars and laced with mandolin and keyboard, this track is a more successful result than most attempts at incorporating ‘90s country, thanks in part to Baldridge’s confident, rollicking vocals.

Lauren Alaina, “Just Wanna Know That You Love Me”

Alaina prolifically follows her recent Big Loud Records EP, Unlocked, with this pensive piano ballad with a simple plea — she doesn’t require all the finer things in life, and can withstand any adversity, as long she knows her lover’s commitment is uncompromising. It’s fitting that Alaina performed the song on a recent episode of The Bachelorette, as the song’s power-pop balladry construction houses a made-for-television quality. This elegant song comes courtesy of Brandy Clark, Sam Ellis and JoyBeth Taylor, and as always, Alaina displays her versatile, powerful vocals.

Wyatt Ellis with Sierra Hull, “Grassy Cove”

Mandolin player and teenage phenom Ellis has quickly cemented himself as a sterling newcomer in the bluegrass scene, having shared the stage with artists including Billy Strings, Marty Stuart, and Molly Tuttle, and also having played Merlefest and the Grand Ole Opry. On his latest, Ellis teams with veteran mandolin player and mentor Hull on this gorgeous instrumental piece, with the two musicians layering twin, agile mandolin parts. He and Hull co-wrote this ode to a small town in East Tennessee, with Justin Moses producing the song; impressively, the song is the result of Ellis’ first time in a recording studio.

Camille Parker, “Heartless”

Parker is a member of CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2022, and was a contestant on Apple TV+’s talent show My Kind of Country. Written by Parker, Sara Bares and Reid Sorel, this is a superb, searing track that’s melded in retro-pop. Embedded in this danceable anthem is a empathetic salve for anyone who has followed their heart more than their logic when it comes to a toxic relationship. “That was the last time I’d throw caution to the wind/ I’ll never do it again,” Parker vows atop layers of guitar grooves and pedal steel, resulting a celebratory moment of emotional maturation and freedom.

Kat Hasty, “Why Do Good People Die”

After releasing the eight-song acoustic project, Drowning in Dreams, in 2021, Hasty returns with the three-song live EP Midland, highlighted by this sparse, rolling acoustic track that puts Hasty’s Texas twang front and center. The introspective song embodies inner contemplation of a musician in her late ’20s, focusing on the struggle between “standing out and fitting in,” between the pull of life on the road, and the tug of guilt that perhaps life would be better spent closer to home. She also ponders the existence of a higher power — and whether that higher power is good, when she sees good people dying around her.

Recording Academy to Raise Annual Membership Fees By 50%: Exclusive

The Recording Academy is raising its annual membership fees from $100 to $150, its first increase since 2000. The Academy notified its members of the 50% increase in an email on Monday (July 10).

The increase takes effect on Aug. 1. Any dues submitted on or before July 31 will reflect the old rate.

Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr. tells Billboard that if a member says that the fee increase would cause a hardship, they’ll make accommodations, just as they did during the pandemic.

Mason says “a small but significant” percentage of members claimed a hardship during the pandemic and were granted a fee waiver. “There were also some people that paid double dues during COVID to support people what weren’t able to pay dues,” he adds.

“If people do have hardships [with this fee increase], we’re going to continue that policy,” he said. “It’s not about trying to extract money from people that don’t have it. It’s just trying to make a fair value. So, when someone says we can’t afford to play $150, we’re going to say, ‘OK, what can you afford? Oh, you can’t afford it, No problem. We want you as a member regardless.’”

Asked if people take advantage of this lenient approach, Mason responded, “I’m sure there’s a small percentage of people that may take advantage of that, but for the most part the music community are good and fair people. If you’re involved in music and creativity and art, you’re not generally [looking for ways to cheat the system]. We’re not going to worry about the few who might have that in their heart.”

The Academy also has a waiver policy on entry fees. All professional and voting members of the Recording Academy receive five “courtesy entries” per year. If they choose to enter more than five entries, they must pay. This year, the fee is $40 for entries made between July 17-31, $75 for entries made between Aug. 1-23 and $125 for entries made between Aug. 24-31.

But the Academy notes, “Any member who would be burdened by the entry fees can request the fees be waived by reaching out to the awards department.”

The Academy justifies charging a fee for any member making more than five entries by saying, “The per-entry fee structure encourages entrants to consider the value of each entry and make mindful decisions to put forward work that they truly believe is Grammy-worthy.”

By way of justifying the membership fee increase, the Academy notes, “Since the last Recording Academy membership dues increase in 2000, the organization has organized more than 650 events across 12 Chapters, celebrated and recognized countless Grammy Award nominees and winners, provided $110 million in aid through MusiCares, and actively supported the passage of numerous bills at both the state and federal level to protect creators’ rights.”

Tikhman added, “Our goal has always been to support artists on a global scale by creating new creative and commercial paths. We’d like to thank Sir Lucian for believing in our vision and for his commitment to developing and supporting artists and entrepreneurs.”

Zaruk added, “We’re excited for this next evolution in The Core and honored to work with Sir Lucian and the team at UMG to help us continue to guide artists to develop their careers and brands. Video Appears to Show Britney Spears Inadvertently Hitting Herself in Face During Wembanyama Encounter

No charges will be filed following a brief investigation of the altercation involving pop star Britney Spears, San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama and a member of the player’s security team, Las Vegas police said Friday after determining she inadvertently “hit herself in the face.”

Spears said she was struck by a security guard as she tried to approach Wembanyama near a restaurant in a Las Vegas casino complex on Wednesday night. Wembanyama said a person, who he later found out was Spears, grabbed him from behind.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said Spears had actually struck herself when someone pushed her hand off Wembanyama as she reached up to tap the No. 1 overall pick.

In its investigation, which is now over, police determined that the security guard did not willfully or unlawfully use force or violence against Spears. No arrests were made and no one was cited, the report said.

In the report, police said surveillance footage of the event “showed Britney going to tap the Spurs player on the shoulder. When she touched the player (redacted) pushes her hand off of the player without looking which causes Britney’s hand to hit herself in the face.”

Spears filed a police report after the incident outside the restaurant, alleging battery. On Friday, she posted a reaction to Instagram with a caption that said “Either way I’m still a huge fan of the NBA player … it’s not his fault his security hit me.”

Wembanyama was making his NBA Summer League debut for the Spurs in Las Vegas on Friday night. The 7-foot-3 French teen was the No. 1 pick in last month’s NBA draft and is entering the league with as much acclaim as anyone since LeBron James in 2003.

The altercation happened Wednesday night; Spears said she recognized Wembanyama at another hotel earlier in the evening and when seeing him again entering a restaurant at the Aria Resort & Casino she “decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success.”

Spears said Thursday, “His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses off my face.”

Police interviewed security guards for the Spurs and Spears, both of whom said pushing a hand off someone’s shoulder is a standard response, according to the report. The security guard for the Spurs said he spoke with Spears afterward, identified himself and apologized. Spears’ security team said she also apologized, the police report said.

Spears’ attorney in Los Angeles, Mathew Rosengart, did not immediately respond to telephone and email messages Friday about the police report.

Spears said Thursday in posts on Twitter and Instagram that the run-in was “super embarrassing,” and denied grabbing Wembanyama, saying she only “tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention.” She also said that she was hopeful of getting an apology from the team or the security guard who she said was involved.

Wembanyama had a different account of the events. He said security advised him to not stop for anyone as he walked into the restaurant, mindful that pausing could cause a stir and allow a crowd to build. He said one person was shouting “sir, sir” to him, “and that person grabbed me from behind,” he said.

He was told hours later that person was Spears. He never saw her, he said, because he never turned around.

Jamie Foxx Spotted Waving From Boat in Chicago Months Hospitalization For Undisclosed Medical Issue

Jamie Foxx made one of his first public appearances since being hospitalized with a mystery illness earlier this year over the weekend. The singer/actor was seen waving from the deck of a large boat during a cruise on the Chicago River on Sunday afternoon according to images obtained by TMZ. In the brief clip, Foxx was spotted sitting near the front of the boat and appeared to wave, smile and flash a peace sign as boaters on a nearby vessel shouted out that they were celebrating a birthday; Foxx did not appear to speak or stand up in the short video.

Foxx was accompanied on the boat by several unnamed people and at press time the star had not made any additional comments about his recovery.

The cause of Foxx’s hospitalization has not yet been disclosed by his family or team, who have also not offered any updates on his condition or recovery in the months since. Foxx’s daughter, Corinne, announced his hospitalization on April 12.

“We wanted to share that my father Jamie Foxx experienced a medical complication yesterday,” she wrote at the time. “Luckily due to quick action and great care he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”

On May 3, Foxx broke his silence and thanked fans in a note for their support. “Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed,” Foxx wrote. The next day, friend Nick Cannon also gave an update on Foxx’s progress. “I gotta tell you, there would be no Nick Cannon if it wasn’t for Jamie Foxx,” said Cannon, who has stepped in to fill Foxx’s shoes on the set of the Fox game show Beat Shazam. “I love this brother and in a real family-type way, man. He looked out for me when I didn’t have a place to sleep as a teenager. This brother let me sleep on his couch…It was good times and those good times will continue ’cause I am expecting that my brother is gonna just recover fully.”

According to multiple reports, Metric and Garbage completed their opening sets, but the High Flying birds got their wings clipped when the site was abruptly evacuated just ahead of their headline slot.

An announcement before 10 p.m. said the show would not go on due to “circumstances beyond our control,” according to a report from Jim Shahen of the Albany Times-Union.

Adds reporter Jon Campbell, who was in the room: “The stage was all set for Noel Gallagher. Then a guy came on stage and said: ‘Due to circumstances beyond our control, the show will not continue.’”

“We have no idea what happened tonight,” Garbage posted on its official Twitter channel. “We were just all evacuated and we were concerned for everyone !!! I’m sorry we have no real information. We were just told there was an emergency evacuation!!!!”

The situation now has clarity, with officials confirming the closure was in response to a “bomb threat.”

“Out of an abundance of caution, the concert at Saratoga Performing Arts Center was suspended ‪at 9:40 pm and concert attendees were evacuated without incident. K9s completed a sweep of the venue after the crowd exited, with negative results,” reads a statement from the NY State Park Police.

The venue, operated by Live Nation, had a particularly eventful weekend. Sunday’s performance of Kidz Bop was delayed due to “inclement weather in the area,” with organizers urging guests to “seek shelter in the venue.”

Gallagher is touring in support of his band’s latest album Council Skies, which last month debuted at No. 2 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, denied the crown by Foo Fighters’ But Here We Are. The Foos ended Gallagher’s record streak of 10 consecutive No. 1 studio albums dating back nearly three decades, including all seven LPs with Oasis and the previous three with High Flying Birds.

Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Vampire’ Flies High on U.K. Chart

Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire” (via Geffen) sinks its fangs into the U.K. singles chart.

Arriving at No. 2, the pop-rock number becomes Rodrigo’s fifth U.K. top 10 appearance, a collection that includes two leaders.

When Rodrigo announced her arrival to the pop music world with 2021’s Sour, she set a stack of records. With the release of “Good 4 U,” Rodrigo became, at 18 years and three months, the youngest solo artist in history to snag the Official U.K. Chart double.

The Grammy Award winner’s debut also broke the U.K. record for most first-week streams ever for a debut album, and she’s the first female solo artist to score three simultaneous U.K. top 5 singles with “Good 4 U,” “Deja Vu” and “Traitor” (Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” also led the survey).

“Vampire” blasts to No. 1 in Australia and is the first release from Rodrigo’s sophomore album Guts, due out Sept. 8. Its predecessor, Sour, spent five weeks at No. 1 in the U.K.

After a tight chart race, the Official Charts Company reports, Dave and Central Cee’s “Sprinter” (Live Yours/Neighbourhood) finds the legs to outpace “Vampire” for its fifth consecutive title.

“Sprinter” accumulates a market-leading 8 million-plus streams, according to the OCC. Completing the top 3 is J Hus and Drake’s “Who Told You” (Black Butter/OVO/Republic), down 2-3.

Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” (EMI) continues to heat up on the U.K. chart, four years after its initial release. The Lover album track cracks the U.K. top 10 for the first time, rising 12-6. It’s the 22nd U.K. top 10 for Swift, who will return to these parts in June 2024 when her The Eras Tour passes through.

Meanwhile, DJ Peggy Gou’s dance number “(It Goes Like) Nanana” (XL Recordings) continues to climb, up 9-7, while D-Block Europe and Clavish’s collaboration “Pakistan” bolts to a top 10 start. “Pakistan” debuts at No. 10, the third top 10 appearance for D-Block and Clavish’s second.

Nothing But Thieves Nab U.K. Chart Crown With ‘Dead Club City’

Nothing But Thieves swipe the U.K. chart title for the first time as Dead Club City bows at No. 1.

Formed in Essex, England, the five-piece indie-rock band enjoyed top 10 appearances with each of their previous three albums: 2015’s self-titled debut (peaking at No. 7), 2017’s Broken Machine (No. 2) and 2020’s Moral Panic (No. 3).

“How’s this happened then?!,” reads a message on the band’s socials. “It’s a synth based concept record with too many guitar solos. This is all to say that despite our best efforts of self sabotage, it’s only gone and got Number 1. It can still happen.”

Completing the podium on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, published July 7, is Elton John’s hits collection Diamonds (Universal/UMC), which holds at No. 2 as the pop veteran winds-up his record-setting final tour; and the Weeknd’s The Highlights (Republic Records/XO), up 6-3.

Further down the list, London singer and songwriter Olivia Dean blasts to No. 4 with Messy, her full-length debut LP.

Also arriving in the top 10 is Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape, new at No. 7. That’s the second top 10 for the U.S. rapper, singer and songwriter, after 2020’s Eternal Atake peaked at No. 3. Lil Uzi Vert also impacted the U.K. chart with 2017’s Luv Is Rage 2 (No. 14), and Pluto x Baby Pluto (No. 39), his 2020 collaborative release with Future.

Meanwhile, Fontaines D.C. frontman Grian Chatten bags a debut solo top 10 appearance with Chaos For The Fly (Partisan). The best-seller this week on wax, Chaos For The Fly takes off at No. 10.

Olivia Rodrigo is back with “Vampire,” and her fans can’t get enough of the U.S. pop star. Rodrigo’s chart-topping debut album from 2021, Sour (Geffen), blasts 32-16 in its 110th week on the tally.

Finally, Madonna enjoys a “get well soon” message from her U.K. fans as Finally Enough Love (Rhino) rises on the chart. The Queen of Pop’s 2022 hits collection reenters the chart at No. 27 following the release of six-LP “Rainbow Edition” boxset.

The American pop legend recently spent several days in the ICU after she developed a serious bacterial infection, a development that pressed pause on her massive, career-spanning Celebration tour. Finally Enough Love originally peaked at No. 3 in the U.K. following its release in 2022.
