Selena Gomez Recreates ‘Sex and the City’ Scene to Promote ‘Single Soon’ & Kim Cattrall Approves

And just like that, Kim Cattrall is a Selena Gomez fan. The actress put her stamp of approval on the pop star’s simple but perfect way of promoting her upcoming single — by recreating one of Cattrall’s iconic scenes from Sex and the City.

In a Tuesday (Aug. 23) TikTok, Gomez lip-synchs along to a piece of dialogue from the NYC-set series, miming a phone call with her hand. “It’s over, I told my wife!” a man on the other end of the call says, to which the Rare Beauty founder mouths along Cattrall’s in-character response “Who is this?” before shrugging her shoulders and hanging up.

“Single Soon this Friday!” Gomez wrote in her caption, reminding fans of her Aug. 25 release.

The clip is a fan-favorite scene from Cattrall’s SATC character Samantha Jones, who unceremoniously breaks up with a married lover. Upon seeing Gomez’s recreation, Cattrall herself took to Twitter to say, “I approve this message.”

The “Lose You to Love Me” singer first announced “Single Soon” last week, sharing the cover art on Instagram and explaining that since she’s still wrapping up work on her upcoming third album, she “wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer.”

Shortly afterward, “Single Soon” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Trending Songs chart, days before its release. It makes sense that fans are excited; Gomez hasn’t released a solo single since last year’s “My Mind & Me,” which accompanied the Only Murders in the Building star’s documentary of the same name. She hasn’t released an album since 2020’s sophomore effort Rare, though she dropped Spanish-language EP Revelacion in 2021.

The day before “Single Soon” arrives, the season two finale of Max’s SATC reboot And Just Like That… will air, featuring Cattrall’s first cameo in the spinoff. It’ll mark her first time playing Samantha in 13 years, as she’s remained absent from the reboot starring her three main SATC costars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

Every Artist With 100 or More Billboard Hot 100 Chart Hits

Debuting a song on the Billboard Hot 100 is a highlight of any musician’s career. It’s Billboard’s premier songs chart, after all, and the stars often must align in order to stand with the best of the best.

The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data, the lattermost metric reflecting purchases of physical singles and digital tracks from full-service digital music retailers; digital singles sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from chart calculations.

In total, over 8,000 artists have landed a song on the survey, which launched on Aug. 4, 1958. Of those artists, only 15 have charted at least 100 total songs.

Elvis Presley, whose career predates the Hot 100’s launch, became the first artist to tally 100 total hits. He scored his 100th (of an eventual 109 total) in May 1975 with “T-R-O-U-B-L-E.” He held the record for the most overall chart entries until 2011, when the Glee Cast surpassed him, and then nearly doubled his total — reaching 207 entries. That record stood until 2020, when Drake stormed past the TV troupe following his song “Oprah’s Bank Account” reaching the listing.

Drake now leads all artists with a whopping 298 total entries on the chart in his career (through the Hot 100 dated Aug. 26, 2023). He’s one of just three artists to top 200 total songs, along with Taylor Swift (212) and the Glee Cast (207).

Three artists have joined the 100-hits club in 2023 alone, so far. YoungBoy Never Broke Again achieved the milestone in May, and, fittingly, became the youngest artist to ever reach the feat, at age 23. Lil Uzi Vert became the 14th act to join in July, after releasing Pink Tape. Travis Scott then became the most-recent artist to gain entry on Aug. 12, thanks to the release of his new LP Utopia.

As for who might be next in line to join the elite group, The Weeknd is currently at 96 Hot 100-charted songs, followed by Eminem (95), Young Thug (92), James Brown (91), Lil Durk (87), 21 Savage (85), Beyoncé (82), Juice WRLD (79) and Gunna (77).

While it’s rare for artists to chart triple-digit entries on the Hot 100, it’s become a more regular occurrence since the ranking began including streaming figures in 2007. As such, certain artists have been able to chart a high number of songs on the Hot 100 in recent years after releasing high-profile albums. The model contrasts with prior decades, when acts generally promoted one single at a time in the physical-only marketplace and on radio. That shift in consumption helps explain why artists have been able to chart many songs over short spans in recent years.

Here’s an updated look at every act in history to chart 100 or more songs on the Hot 100, as of the Aug. 26, 2023-dated chart.

Latto & Cardi B’s ‘Floor’ Is on Top of Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart

Latto achieves her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart as her Cardi B-assisted “Put It on Da Floor Again” tops the radio list dated Aug. 26. The track ascends from No. 2 after a 7% gain in plays that made it the most played song on U.S. monitored R&B/hip-hop stations in the week ending Aug. 17, according to Luminate.

With her first champ, Latto outdoes her prior best peak of No. 2, which she managed twice. “Big Energy” stopped at the runner-up rank in January 2022, as did “Don’t Play With It,” her collaboration with Lola Brooke and Yung Miami, in April of this year. Notably, her “Put It On Da Floor Again” collaborator, Cardi B, played a role in blocking “Big Energy” from the summit – the No. 1 song that week was Normani’s “Wild Side,” which features the rap superstar.

For Cardi B, “Put It on Da Floor Again” banks the hitmaker an 11th No. 1 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. Here’s a recap of her leaders:

Song Title, Artist (if other than Cardi B), Weeks at No. 1, Date Reached No. 1

  • “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),” nine, Sept. 16, 2017
  • “No Limit,” G-Eazy featuring A$AP Rocky & Cardi B, five, Dec. 9, 2017
  • “I Like It,” with Bad Bunny & J Balvin, one, July 28, 2018
  • “Ring,” featuring Kehlani, one, Nov. 17, 2018
  • “Money,” five, Feb. 2, 2019
  • “Backin’ It Up,” Pardison Fontaine featuring Cardi B, one, March 9, 2019
  • “Please Me,” with Bruno Mars, six, April 13, 2019
  • “Up,” one, March 27, 2021
  • “Wild Side,” Normani featuring Cardi B, three, Jan. 1, 2022
  • “Tomorrow 2,” with GloRilla, 10, Dec. 3, 2022
  • “Put It on Da Floor Again,” Latto featuring Cardi B, one (to date), Aug. 26, 2023

Thanks to her 11th leader, Cardi B ties R. Kelly for the sixth-most No. 1s on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay among all artists since the chart began in 1993. Here are the current standings:

  • 45, Drake
  • 20, Lil Wayne
  • 18, Chris Brown
  • 16, Usher
  • 13, Beyoncé
  • 11, Cardi B
  • 11, R. Kelly
  • 10, JAY-Z
  • 10, Rihanna

Elsewhere, “Put It on Da Floor Again” advances 3-2 on Rhythmic Airplay through a 5% improvement in plays in the latest tracking week. The single also climbs 4-3 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, which ranks songs through combined audience totals on both adult R&B and mainstream R&B/hip-hop stations. There, it added 1% in audience, to reach 15 million, in the weekly tracking window. The song likewise rises one spot, 20-19, on the all-genre Radio Songs chart, where it improved 4% to 27.8 million in total audience across all formats.

Here’s Why Beyoncé Wants Fans to Wear ‘Fabulous Silver Fashions’ for ‘Last Month’ of Renaissance Tour

If you haven’t yet stepped into Beyoncé’s House of Chrome, your time is now. On Wednesday (Aug. 23), Queen Bey took to her Instagram Stories and website to make a very special request to her fans and future Renaissance World Tour attendees.

“Virgo Season is upon us. This tour has been such a joy and as we approach the last month, my birthday wish is to celebrate with you wearing your most fabulous silver fashions to the shows 8.23 – 9.22!” she wrote. “We’ll surround ourselves in a shimmering human disco ball each night. Everybody mirroring each other’s joy. Virgo Season together in the house of chrome. See you there! Your B at [Renaissance World Tour]”

Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour, her trek in support of her Billboard 200-topping Renaissance album, has grown into one of the biggest fashion spectacles of the year. From over 100 different costumes that change nearly every night to a fan-driven dress code of disco cowboy hats, silver fringe and tons of chrome and glitter, fashion has anchored the Renaissance Tour just as much as the music, choreography, production and Beyoncé’s voice.

The star, who became the most-awarded act in Grammy history in February, released Renaissance in July 2022. The album spawned a pair of Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles — “Break My Soul” (No. 1) and “Cuff It” (No. 6) — and won four Grammys, including best dance/electronic music album. The opening leg of the album’s accompanying tour, which traveled across Europe from May 10 to June 28, grossed $154 million and sold over one million tickets.

A famed Virgo, Beyoncé has championed her star sign — and astrology in general — for years. From Dangerously In Love deep cut “Signs” to Grammy-nominated Renaissance track “Virgo’s Groove,” Beyoncé has always been about celebrating “Virgo Season.” On her birthday — Sept. 4 — the “America Has a Problem” singer will play her last of three shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

Selena Gomez Thinks The Weeknd’s ‘Starboy’ With Her AI Vocals Is ‘Scary’

Ask 100 people how they feel about AI-generated songs and you will likely get 100 different answers. But ask Selena Gomez how she feels about someone who cobbled together an AI version of The Weeknd‘s “Starboy” featuring her computer-generated vocals layered next to those of her ex and, well, her answer is swift and succinct.

“Scary.”

That’s what Gomez commented on a post featuring the reworked 2016 song, in which her face was also added to new artwork for the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single that originally featured Daft Punk. “”House so empty, need a centerpiece/ Twenty racks a table, cut from ebony/ Cut that ivory into skinny pieces/ Then she clean it with her face, man, I love my baby,” Gomez “sings” in the doctored song. The image from the fan account that posted the AI-boosted song featured a caption in Turkish that read: “How did you find Selena’s viral cover of starboy voiced with artificial intelligence?”

“Starboy” was released in November 2016, just a few months before Gomez and Tesfaye were spotted on a date in Los Angeles; the pair broke up less than a year later.

Frankly, Gomez has her own music to think about. Her upcoming single, “Single Soon,” will debut at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Tending Songs chart, powered by X, dated Aug. 26. “Single Soon” is due out on Friday (Aug. 25) and was announced by the singer on the service formerly known as Twitter on Aug. 17 with the tease, “Since I’m not quite done with SG3 [Gomez’s upcoming album], I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer.”

“Single Soon” will be the first new music from the Only Murders in the Building star since her March 2021 Spanish-language EP Revelacion.

Taylor Swift Premieres ‘Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)’ in ‘Wilderness’ Trailer: Watch

Taylor Swift may be in full 1989 (Taylor’s Version) mode, but Reputation fans just got a big taste of the 2017 album’s lead single.

The 33-year-old pop star debuted a huge chunk of “Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version)” in Prime Video’s new trailer for Wilderness, a psychological thriller arriving on the streaming platform Sept. 15. Starring The Sandman‘s Jenna Coleman and The Haunting of Hill House‘s Oliver Jackson-Cohen, the project explores a woman’s quest for revenge — ahem, a major theme on Reputation — after discovering her husband is having an affair.

“Liv becomes the actress starring in Will’s bad dreams after she learns about his betrayal, and her heartbreak is swiftly followed by another emotion: fury,” reads a description of the show full of Swiftian references. “The couple embark on an American road trip Liv’s fantasized about since she was little, from the Grand Canyon on through Yosemite, before ending up with a hedonistic weekend in Las Vegas.”

“For Will, it’s a chance to make amends; for Liv, it’s a very different prospect — a landscape where accidents happen all the time,” it continues. “The perfect place to get revenge. Look what he made her do…

“Look What You Made Me Do” is featured heavily throughout the Wilderness trailer, showcasing Swift’s fresh take on the career-shifting track’s chorus and iconic tagline: “The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Oh! ‘Cause she’s dead!”

This isn’t the first glimpse Swifties have gotten of the “Anti-Hero” singer’s imminent Reputation re-record, which hasn’t even been announced yet. During Swift’s preparations to drop 1989 (Taylor’s Version) this October, which will mark the fourth of her six expected “Versions,” she also shared a piece of “Delicate (Taylor’s Version)” in an episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty season two, also a Prime Video project.

Nia Long Seeks Primary Custody Of Son With Ime Udoka

Fotografiska & Mass Appeal Celebrate Opening Of 'Hip Hop: Conscious, Unconscious' In Collaboration With Chase Marriott Bonvoy Credit Cards And Sony Music Entertainment's Certified

Nia Long has officially filed court documents to request primary custody of her 11-year-old son with former Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka. In the filing, the beloved actress claims that Udoka has “failed” to support their son.

The papers were filed by Nia Long in Los Angeles County Superior Court on August 14, according to a report from Entertainment Tonight. The outlet obtained the documents and combed through the fine print. In the papers, Long is asking for legal and physical custody of their boy, but is asking that Udoka has, “reasonable visitation to Respondent consistent with the child’s best interest.”

Udoka, who now sits as the head coach for the Houston Rockets, has not made a response to the filing nor has a judge ruled on the matter. As ET notes, Long’s filing comes almost a year after she and Udoka split after an explosive scandal took place in Boston with allegations of affairs with a woman who worked for the Celtics organization coming forth.

As previously reported, Udoka was suspended by the Celtics in the wake of the scandal going wide and eventually signed with the Houston Rockets. The Rockets, although stacked with young talent, had by most accounts a dismal 2022-23 NBA campaign with hopes that Udoka can bring the winning touch he displayed in Boston to the Texas team.

Nia Long and Ime Udoka were together for 13 years according to reports.

Here Are 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Erika Jayne | Billboard

Singer and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne reveals five things you didn’t know about her to Billboard.

Erika Jayne:
I’m Erika Jayne, and these are five things that you probably don’t know about me.

I am afraid of the dark and I always have been since I was a child, so I sleep with a night-light unless I’m sleeping with a man.

If you open a bottle of water, you have to complete it. And in my house, I give everybody bottled water, but I take note as to who doesn’t finish them and leaves them behind. I keep score like that. I’m just saying.

I’m addicted to Target. I have to go there either first thing in the morning when it opens up, or at the very end of the night when it’s closing. I like to buy cleaning products, and I’m talking bleach, Downy, Tide. I like to wash clothes, specifically white towels, and I can get anything just, like, sparkling white.

I cannot wash with anything other than a white-colored loofah. I can’t have any color. I got one that was white and purple, the peach ones, the green ones weren’t working. I can’t do it. I don’t know what it is. I got something going on with the cleaning thing.

My friends have pointed out that it’s very strange that I sleep with socks on. I don’t think it’s strange at all, and I sleep with socks year round, and I don’t care what anybody says.
