Hulu Renews ‘Only Murders in the Building’ For a Fourth Season

There will be more murders in the building. Hulu announced on Tuesday (Oct. 3) that it has renewed its fan-favorite comedy series Only Murders in the Building. The latest pick-up for the show co-starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short came on the same day that the streamer dropped the season three finale.

The news came in a post on X (formerly Twitter) in which the three principles are pictured smiling at the camera under a “Season 4” banner, with the caption, “Only Murders in the Building is returning for Season 4! The trio’s journey is far from over.”

The series centers on three curious neighbors who live in a New York apartment building teaming up in season one to record a true crime podcast about the murder of another resident, Tim Kono. Playing off the witty rapport between real-life touring partners and fellow comedians Martin (who plays unlucky in love Charles Haden-Savage) and Short (who portrays struggling theater director Oliver Putnam), the series has followed the duo as they teamed up with Gomez’s Mabel Mora to investigate another killing in season two — of the president of the building’s board, Bunny Folger — and a third in the just-completed season of Broadway actor Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd).

The third season also added Oscar-winner Meryl Street to the cast as Glenroy’s struggling actress cast mate, Loretta Durkin. According to Variety, Only Murders is Hulu’s most-watched original comedy series to date, with the third season putting up the most-watched premiere day of any Hulu scripted original so far this year.

Stevie Nicks Says ‘There’s No Reason’ to Continue Fleetwood Mac Following Christine McVie’s Passing

One thing’s for certain: There is no Fleetwood Mac without Christine McVie. In a recent interview, Stevie Nicks confirmed that she likely won’t continue performing under the label of her iconic rock band following the passing of her longtime best friend and bandmate last year.

“We did go out on the road and do a year-and-a-half tour with [Lindsey Buckingham replacements] Neil Finn and Mike Campbell,” Nicks told Vulture in a Monday (Oct. 2) Q&A. “We had a really great time and it was a huge tour. That was there in the realm of possibility. But when Christine died, I felt like you can’t replace her. You just can’t. Without her, what is it? You know what I mean?”

“She was like my soul mate, my musical soul mate, and my best friend that I spent more time with than any of my other best friends outside of Fleetwood Mac,” she added. “Christine was my best friend… Who am I going to look over to on the right and have them not be there behind that Hammond organ? When she died, I figured we really can’t go any further with this. There’s no reason to.”

The “Edge of Seventeen” singer went on to compare her grief over McVie to Taylor Swift’s Midnights track “You’re On Your Own, Kid,” which she’s previously said has helped her mourn her late best friend. The Fleetwood Mac keyboardist died of a stroke in November last year at 79 years old, with a secondary cause of death listed as cancer.

“The line ‘you always have been,’ it was like, that was Christine and I,” Nicks explained. “We were on our own in that band. We always were. We protected each other.”

Nicks, who’s currently embarked on a solo tour as well as a joint tour with Billy Joel, recently unveiled her very own Barbie figure with Mattel. Decked out in a Rumours-esque black outfit and feathered ’70s hair, the doll will be released next month.

“I take a few photos of her in every city, which ends up being a two-hour photo session,” Nicks told the publication of her plastic mini-me, who she also revealed has an Elvis-inspired Ken doll boyfriend. “I named him Kenelvis, and I introduced Kenelvis to Stevie Barbie. I have photographs of these two that will absolutely knock the world’s socks off. They look at each other in a way that’s like they’ve been in love for centuries.”

Now that authorities have arrested and indicted Keffe D for his alleged role in the murder of Tupac Shakur, many are wondering who will be cooperating with prosecutors against him. Well, you can count Suge Knight out.

According to TMZ, the former head of Death Row Records and Tupac’s closest confidant at the time of his death doesn’t plan on giving authorities any help in their case against Keffe D as he still abides by the code of the streets. Even though Knight was in the car with Tupac at the time of the shooting, he doesn’t plan on giving police any kind of information and even suggests that they’ve got the wrong guy.

TMZ reports:

TMZ spoke exclusively with the Death Row Records founder on Monday … and he insists cops and prosecutors are barking up the wrong tree with their arrest of Davis. Even further, he refutes the long-held belief Davis’ late nephew, Orlando Anderson, was the shooter.

He also said prosecutors can forget about getting him on the stand during Davis’ murder trial. In a nutshell, Suge says he’s not ratting out anyone. Keep in mind, of the 6 people involved in the shooting — 4 were in the shooter’s car — Suge and Davis are the only 2 still alive.

Looks like Suge is ready to take whatever he knows about the shooting to his grave.

Though Keffe D’s done numerous interviews putting himself at the scene of the crime and insinuating that he played a role in the shooting, Knight doesn’t believe neither he nor Orlando Anderson killed Tupac.

Crazy world we live in, right?

What do y’all think of Suge Knight refusing to speak to authorities about Keffe D’s involvement in the murder of Tupac Shakur? Let us know in the comments section below.

Funk Flex Resumes Feud With Charlamagne Tha God & DJ Envy

Funkmaster Flex has rekindled his beef with Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy after being named in a cease and desist letter from them.

On Sunday (Oct. 1), the veteran HOT 97 radio host and DJ shared on social media that he had been named in a cease and desist letter from a legal firm representing victims of a real estate scam that DJ Envy is allegedly involved in. “BIG DOG? @DJENVY I THINK THEY NAMED U IN THIS $1,400,000 REAL ESTATE LAWSUIT? YOU LAWYER IS OK WITH ME MENTIONING SINCE THIS IS PUBLIC RECORD?” he wrote in the caption of the now-deleted Instagram post.

DJ Envy has been embroiled in legal issues stemming from being sued along with real estate investor couple Cesar and Jennifer Pinas in August by Anthony Barone and Anthony Martini. The two claim the radio host and the couple engaged them to be part of an apartment complex development deal, but the project fell through and they haven’t gotten their investment money back. DJ Envy has pushed back on the allegations, claiming in a radio interview that he had lost $500,000 in a separate deal with the Pinas.

Funk Flex then turned his attention to DJ Envy’s co-host Charlamagne Tha God by sharing a screenshot of a Vibe magazine story referring to where he was previously accused of sexual assault in a subsequent Instagram post. “UMMMMM? YOU CAUGHT ANOTHER (NEW) LAWSUIT APRIL 21, 2023? I DONT THINK U SETTLED THAT? @cthagod (AND YOU CALLING PEOPLE PATHETIC?) LET YOUR LAWYER KNOW I CAN TALK ABOUT THIS CAUSE VIBE MAG ALREADY DID? TOMORROW! 7PM! @HOT97,” he wrote.

The animosity had been brewing for Flex since the previous Thursday night on his radio show, where Rick Ross made an appearance to promote his latest single with Meek Mill, “Shaq & Kobe.” Both cracked jokes about Envy and the legal trouble he’s in. “Nah, we ain’t selling fake houses!” Ross said. “We not gon’ steal no old lady houses. You going to hell for that.”

“I heard he just accused his man of taking advantage of him, too,” Ross continued. “You’re doing the fraud, you’re telling on your man? Damn.”

“Dreamchasers over here, house chasers over there,” Flex answered.

They also had jokes for Charlamagne Tha God, suggesting that he leave Power 105.1 to join HOT 97 with Flex claiming he could get him a job “washing sneakers.”

Judge Rules Again That Lady Gaga Doesn’t Owe $500K Reward to Woman Charged In Dog Theft

A Los Angeles judge ruled again Monday that Lady Gaga was not obligated to pay a $500,000 reward for the return of her stolen French bulldogs to the same woman who was criminally charged over the incident.

Doubling down on an earlier decision to toss the case, Judge Holly Fujie dismissed a breach of contract case filed by Jennifer McBride, who pleaded no contest in December to receiving stolen property in connection with the 2021 robbery, in which Gaga’s dog walker Ryan Fischer was shot and nearly killed.

After the judge had given McBride a chance to fix her case, her lawyer argued that she was “in no way involved” with the theft of the dog and only wanted to help the animals. But in Monday’s decision, Judge Fujie said she was unswayed.

“Although plaintiff alleges that her motivation was to protect the bulldogs (and also to collect $500,000.00), this alleged motivation does not negate her guilt of the charge because she has admitted receiving the bulldogs with knowledge that they were stolen property,” the judge wrote. “If anything, the [updated lawsuit] makes even clearer … that plaintiff has unclean hands that prevent her from profiting from her actions.”

McBride is one of five people charged over the Feb. 24, 2021, gunpoint dog-napping of Gaga’s bulldogs, Koji and Gustav. Prosecutors say the singer was not specifically targeted, and that the group was merely trying to steal French bulldogs, which can be worth thousands of dollars. James Howard Jackson, the man who shot Fischer during the robbery, took a plea deal in December and was sentenced to 21 years in prison.

Days after the attack, it was McBride who returned the dogs to police, claiming she’d found the animals tied to a pole and asking about the reward. While police initially told the media that McBride appeared to be “uninvolved and unassociated” with the crime, she was later connected to the robbery and charged with one count of receiving stolen property and one count of being an accessory after the fact. In December, she pleaded no contest to the property charge and was sentenced to two years of probation.

But just two months later, McBride was back in court again — filing a civil lawsuit claiming she deserves the credit for returning the superstar’s bulldogs. The case argued that Gaga’s promise of a reward, which the media characterized as “no questions asked,” was a binding “unilateral” offer to pay for the safe return of the dogs, and that McBride had taken her up on the proposal by flipping on the men who actually committed the robbery.

But Gaga’s lawyers quickly argued that a convicted criminal like McBride cannot “profit from her participation in a crime.” And in July, Judge Fujie agreed.

“The allegations in the complaint are directly related to wrongful conduct that plaintiff pleaded guilty to in the criminal proceeding,” the judge wrote at the time. “Under the circumstances, plaintiff’s successful pursuit of her current claims would allow her to benefit from her admitted wrongdoing.”

In attempting to re-file an updated version of her lawsuit, McBride’s lawyers argued that she had “had no involvement with nor knowledge of the taking of Defendant’s dogs.” But in Monday’s ruling dismissing the case again, Judge Fujie pointed out all the things that McBride’s lawyers didn’t say.

“While Plaintiff alleges that she was not involved in the prior planning or the commission of the theft of Moving Defendant’s bulldogs, she does not deny that at the time she claimed the reward she knew that they were stolen from Moving Defendant, nor does she deny that she received them with that knowledge,” the judge wrote.

Kacey Musgraves & Noah Kahan to Release Duet Version of ‘She Calls Me Back’

Kacey Musgraves and Noah Kahan are teaming up to release a new duet rendition of Kahan’s “She Calls Me Back” on Friday (Oct. 6).

Kahan revealed the upcoming collab through a social media post that included a voicemessage from Musgraves saying, “Hi, you’ve reached the voicemail box of Kacey Musgraves and Noah Kahan. We’ll call you back Oct. 6.”

“She Calls Me Back” was originally included on Kahan’s 2022 album, Stick Season. The album rose to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in June. Kahan also reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the Post Malone collaboration “Dial Drunk” earlier this year.

“It’s been an unbelievable few months, year-and-a-half now,” Kahan recently told Billboard News. “This whirlwind of attention and this wonderful outpouring of love from fans.”

Since releasing her most recent album, 2021’s Star-Crossed, Musgraves was featured on Cuco’s “Sitting in the Corner,” which also features Adriel Favela.

In a way, this new collab marks a full-circle moment, given that Musgraves and Kahan each recently dispatched duets with singer-songwriter Zach Bryan.

Musgraves’ Bryan collaboration, “I Remember Everything,” debuted atop the Hot 100, notching the first Hot 100 chart-topper for each artist. The song was part of Bryan’s self-titled album, which debuted atop the Billboard 200.

The self-titled album also featured collabs with The War and Treaty, Sierra Ferrell and The Lumineers. Soon after that release, Bryan issued a surprise EP, Boys of Faith, which featured the Kahan collaboration “Sarah’s Place,” as well as the Bon Iver duet “Boys of Faith.”

Matty Healy Issues a General Apology For His Actions During Hollywood Bowl Show: ‘There Is No Ill Will Coming From Me’

As they wind down their current run of their Still… At Their Very Best tour, The 1975‘s singer, Matty Healy, issued yet another apology from the stage. The latest mea culpa came during Monday night’s (Oct. 2) show at the Hollywood Bowl, in which Healy told the audience he planned to “be better moving forward.”

In fan video of the non-specific blanket atonement, Healy said, “I think it is important to take inventory of yourself so you become aware when your intentions and your actions don’t align. So, because some of my actions have hurt some people, I apologize to those people, and I pledge to do better moving forward.” When the crowd applauded, Healy added, “give it up for the old apology.”

“But I think it’s also important I express my intentions so everybody knows there is no ill will coming from me,” he continued, smoke and drink in hand. “You see, as an artist [air quotes], I want to create an environment for myself to perform where not everything that I do is taken literally.”

Healy then explained that he doesn’t “go around singing my songs and apologizing” when he’s not onstage in a seeming attempt to create daylight between his performance persona and his off-stage one.

In February, Healy stirred up controversy when he made racist and sexist remarks about rapper Ice Spice on the Adam Friedland Show, during which he and the hosts made jokes about the rapper sounding like an “Inuit Spice Girl” and looking like a “chubby Chinese lady” before performing racist accents. After one of the men suggested Healy should have asked the MC about her ethnic background while dropping an Inuit ethnic slur, Healy called Ice Spice “dumb.”

In a recent Variety interview, Ice Spice said she was “confused” when she initially heard the podcast. “Because I heard ‘chubby Chinese lady’ or some s— like that, and I’m like, ‘Huh? What does that even mean?’ First of all, I’m thick,” she said. “What do you mean Chinese? What? But then they apologized or whatever. And the whole time, I didn’t really care.”

Healy issued a tepid apology for his Spice-related comments in April from the stage in New Zealand, where he said, “I just feel a bit bad, and I’m kind of a bit sorry if I’ve offended you. Ice Spice, I’m sorry. It’s not because I’m annoyed that me joking got misconstrued. It’s because I don’t want Ice Spice to think I’m a d–k,” he added at the time. “I love you, Ice Spice. I’m so sorry. I don’t want it to be misconstrued as mean. I don’t mind being a bit of a joker… but I am genuinely sorry if I’ve upset them because I f–king love them.”

At Monday’s show, Healy again attempted to explain his frequent verbal outbursts. “I’ve kind of performed exaggerated versions of myself on other stages, be it print or on podcasts and in an often misguided attempt at fulfilling the kind of character role of the 21st-century rock star, so, it’s complicated,” Healy said, without pointing to any specific incidents or comments.

“This might be cheesy, but sometimes playing pretend is the only way you can truly find out who you are, and you could probably also say that men would rather do offensive impressions for attention than go to therapy,” he continued. “But, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to better yourself, sometimes that just requires people who really know what they’re talking about.”

There were more scattered laughs before Healy performed a bit sending up the online therapy service BetterHelp, accompanied by an ad banner that ran on the screen as Healy leaned into the mockery by informing the crowd to use the code “Sorry75” to get a discount. At press time a spokesperson for The 1975 had not returned a request for further comment on Healy’s on-stage remarks.

Carin León & Pedro Capó Create a Beautiful Ballad at Latin Music Week 2023’s Making the Hit Live Panel

Pedro, tu no puedes, eres lo que eres, busca un trabajo, y paga los que debes, la vida es muy corta pa’ soñar,” crooned Pedro Capo as he improvised on the lyrics while carefully plucking the strings of his nylon guitar as he sat on the Making the Hit Live panel at 2023 Latin Music Week on Tuesday (Oct. 3). The Puerto Rican artist then united his voice with Carin León’s for a stunning harmony. The Mexican artist recognized this too. “That’s the money maker,” he declared.

This beautiful acoustic ballad with contemplative lyrics and plenty of charm was created during the panel, where the two artists also reflected on their creative process and highlighted how each of them perceives a hit differently. While participating in the discussion, León held a 12-string guitar — a traditional instrument within the música mexicana space — and bounced ideas off his fellow panelist and artist.

“How do you compose a hit? With God’s blessing,” Capo said. But moments later, the creativity between the two musicians was flowing like water.

“A lot of people relate it to success. For us, it means something different. I feel that the definition of success is very personal and very individual,” said León. “One has to connect with issues of the heart to get it off your chest.”

“You guys met for the first time 30 minutes ago, and it seems like you’ve known each other all your lives,” Fajardo noted. “From here to the studio, please.”

Celebrated for more than 30 years, the 2023 edition of Latin Music Week includes a Superstar Q&A with Shakira; the Legends on Legends chat with Chencho Corleone and Vico C; Making the Hit Live! with Carin León and Pedro Capó; a panel with RBD’s Christian Chávez, Christopher von Uckermann, and Maite Perroni; Superstar Songwriter discussion with Edgar Barrera and Keityn, among many other panels, Q&As and workshops.

See the ultimate Latin Music Week guide here. This year’s Latin Music Week, taking place Oct. 2-6, also includes showcases by Peso Pluma, Mike Bahía and Greeicy, DannyLux and Fonseca, to name a few. Check out the dates and times for the showcases throughout the week here.

Official partners of the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Week include AT&T, Cheetos, CN Bank, Delta Air Lines, Lexus, Netflix, Michelob ULTRA and Smirnoff.

Latin Music Week coincides with the 2023 Billboard Latin Music Awards ceremony, which will broadcast live from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla., on Thursday (Oct. 5) and will air on Telemundo. It will also broadcast simultaneously on Universo, Peacock, the Telemundo App, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean on Telemundo Internacional.

Watch Niall Horan Leave Gwen Stefani Speechless With His Spot-On Blake Shelton Impression

Blake Shelton left The Voice after 23 seasons on the show, but his presence can still be felt by his wife, Gwen Stefani, and Niall Horan, who are both coaching the new season. The country star left such an impact on the former One Direction member that Horan can do a pretty accurate impression of his southern drawl, as the pop singer revealed on the Tuesday (Oct. 3) episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show.

“I got on very well with Blake. I met him the day before we started shooting the [blind auditions]. We went for a drink the day before. I sat down with him for five minutes and I was like, ‘This is my guy. I’m sticking with him,’” Horan explained to Hudson. “They put me next to him for the whole season — we had such a laugh. What you see with Blake is what you get, on camera, off camera, he’s just that guy. He’s just the nicest guy in the world. Loves what he loves and has a great time doing everything. He’s just the best.”

The talk-how host then pointed out that Horan can do impressions and asked him to do his best of the “Nobody But You” singer. Without missing a beat, Horan put on his best southern accent and said, “This my wife, Gwen Stefani. I would love for you to be on my time. I love Jeff! You could be on my team!”

The No Doubt singer couldn’t help but laugh at Horan’s impression. “I love this guy,” she said of her fellow coach.

As for The Voice, Stefani revealed that she and Horan have similar approaches to artists they wish to mentor, which has caused for some sticky situations during the competition. “We’ve had quite a lot of battles in the blinds for artists. She’s won quite a lot,” Horan noted.

Stefani jokingly disagreed, saying that Horan’s looks give him an advantage. “I lose every time because all those girls come out and are like, ‘Niall … look at his eyes. Oh my god, he’s so cute!’” she recalled. “And then next thing you know, I’m a loser.”
