Happy Mean Girls Day! Although Mean Girls premiered in theaters on April 30, 2004, fans celebrate the cult favorite on Oct. 3rd — the day that Aaron (Jonathan Bennett) asked Cady (Lindsay Lohan) what day it was and she replied, “It’s October 3rd.”

To celebrate, Mean Girls Day, Paramount uploaded the entire film to TikTok — in 23 parts. If you don’t feel like watching clip by clip, you can stream the film for free on Paramount+ and other platforms.

Coffee Mate also announced a Mean Girls-inspired, pink creamer on Tuesday (Oct. 3), but it doesn’t drop until next year.

For those unfamiliar with the plot, Mean Girls centers around a high schooler named Cady who moves back to the states after being home-schooled abroad and has trouble fitting in. At North Shore High, Cady gets a crash course in high school hierarchies and other shenanigans when the popular clique — a.k.a. the Plastics — invite her to sit with them.

Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, Amanda Seyfried, Lizzy Caplan and Bennett star in the film written by Tina Fey and inspired by the novel Queen Bees and Wannabes by Rosalind Wiseman.

In honor of “Mean Girl’s Day,” we rounded up all the ways you can watch and stream the movie, plus Halloween costumes inspired by the film.

TikTok Is Testing an Ad-Free Subscription Plan

TikTok is testing an ad-free subscription plan, the company has confirmed to Billboard.

The new tier, first reported by Android Authority after the site uncovered code in the latest version of the TikTok app, is being tried out in a single non-English-speaking market outside the United States, according to the company. TikTok shot down Android Authority’s earlier contention that the test was available to U.S. users and added that the release of an ad-free subscription product is not inevitable. It also did not confirm the plan’s price tag, which Android Authority reported at $4.99 per month, or what specific market the test is being conducted in.

TikTok has been an advertising-based platform since its inception, making this the service’s first toe-dip into a potential subscription model for the app itself. That said, last year the company unveiled LIVE Subscription, a monthly subscription to TikTok LIVE that allows users to subscribe directly to individual creators in exchange for exclusive benefits including custom emotes and subscriber-only chats and videos. And in September, the company rolled out TikTok Shop, a U.S.-based feature that allows users to discover and buy products from brands and creators without leaving the app.

TikTok’s test wouldn’t be the first time a social platform has unveiled an ad-free tier. Last year, Snap launched Snapchat+, a $4-a-month subscription service that has since signed up more than 5 million users, according to the company. Elon Musk has also floated his intention to introduce an ad-free tier to his X Premium subscription plan, though that has yet to come to fruition. Currently, the premium plan on X (formerly known as Twitter) starts at $8 a month and boasts an “approximately 50%” reduction in ads in the For You and Following timelines, according to the company.

TikTok claims more than 1 billion monthly users globally and more than 150 million in the United States.

Sebastián Yatra Talks Love, Songwriting & More with Lasso at Billboard Latin Music Week

Innovating Latin pop star Sebastián Yatra opened up about love, songwriting and more on Tuesday (October 3) during his “Star Q&A” at Billboard Latin Music Week 2023, presented by Disney. which was moderated by Venezuelan singer Lasso,

Yatra spoke with Venezuelan singer Lasso (with whom he collaborated on their duet “Ojos Marrenos”) for about 30 minutes about his creative process, the best advice he has received, and even sang part of a song, “Básicamente,” which he considers to be one of the most beautiful in his repertoire.

Below, read five of the best questions and answers from their conversation:

Lasso: For you to write a love song, do you have to be in love? Or, do you have to be heartbroken to write about heartbreak?

Yatra: I think you have to have been [in love], at least at some point, to understand that emotion and what you go through when you are very much in love or very much heartbroken. In the end, you speak from the truth. And as a songwriter, what I have learned is that the more layers you remove and get closer to reality, the more you can connect with people.

Lasso: If your label tells you to make a boy-band with Latin artists, in which you are going to participate as a member, who would you chose as the other four?

Yatra: I would put you in, because I don’t want to look bad right now. I just met Peso Pluma backstage, so I would get Peso Pluma; our voice colors would give it a different touch. I would include Karol G. And I would include Guaynaa, he can rap.

Lasso: What makes a collaboration a perfect collaboration for you?

Yatra: I think everything starts with a song. You can put Michael Jackson and Bad Bunny together, and if the song is not good, at the end of the day … it gets lost; it was news, but it wasn’t a song. When you make music without thinking that it can be a hit because you are singing it [with some artist], when you make music that is about the people who are going to listen to it and about that emotion that can live forever, that is when you have the possibility of making a song that is memorable. A collaboration would be guided by nature, by good vibes with the other artist or by mutual admiration, or because musically that other person is really going to add something that, without that person, the song would not be the same.

Lasso: [A number of] great Latin artists are from Colombia: Shakira, Karol G, Camilo, Ferxxo (Feid), you … what do Colombian artists have that makes them so massive?

Yatra: I think it’s not a matter of talent, because there is talent everywhere. I think it’s something cultural, in addition to how difficult it has been for us Colombians due to the whole issue of war, drugs and drug trafficking. You see it in other industries. [For years], no other country wanted to invest in Colombia, so it was up to us to create our own industry … [those] difficulties are where I think the secret lies. A culture of hard work was created, of not complaining, of giving your best, of understanding that falling and having obstacles is simply part of the process.

Lasso: What advice did your dad or mom give you that you think about at least once a week?

Yatra: My mom is my number one advisor, and she has been putting my feet on the ground since long before I released a song. I started singing at the age of 12, focused on what I wanted to do, … and from that moment on she told me every day, “If you do well one day in this business, it is simply a profession, but you are just another human being, you are neither more nor less than anyone else. It is important that you are clear about that.” Being human is what really transcends anything and enters people’s hearts, and what really gives you a meaning and a purpose for doing this.

The song appears on Mitski’s seventh LP The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We (released Sept. 15 via Dead Oceans/Secretly Group), which debuted at No. 12 on the Sept. 30-dated Billboard 200 with 32,000 equivalent album units earned in its opening week, according to Luminate; it ranks at No. 38 on the latest chart. It also opened at No. 2 on Alternative Albums, Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Vinyl Albums, and No. 3 on Top Album Sales.

“My Love Mine All Mine” enters the Hot 100 with 6.5 million official U.S. streams, up 58%, according to Luminate.

TikTok has been a major factor in the song’s growing profile, as a portion of its audio has been used in over 300,000 clips on the platform to date. (Activity on TikTok is not included in Billboard’s charts except for the newly-launched TikTok & Billboard Top 50.) On Instagram, the song has been used in over 13,000 Reels.

The song also becomes just the second Hot 100-charting song for Dead Oceans/Secretly Group, the independent record label founded in 2007 by Chris Swanson and Phil Waldorf. The label first reached the chart with Phoebe Bridgers and Maggie Rogers’ charity cover of Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” (No. 57, 2020).

Mitski (full name: Mitski Miyawaki) first appeared on a Billboard chart in July 2016 with her fourth studio album Puberty 2. The set, her first release on Dead Oceans, reached No. 19 on Alternative Albums and No. 32 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums.

Since then, she has charted three albums on the Billboard 200: Be the Cowboy (No. 52, 2018), Laurel Hell (No. 5, 2022) and her latest a week ago. Laurel Hell also hit No. 1 on Alternative Albums, Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums.

In 2018, Mitski scored her first No. 1 on a Billboard chart, when “The Only Heartbreaker,” from Be the Cowboy, topped Adult Alternative Airplay. The song became her first of four total entries at the format, followed by “Love Me More” (No. 23 peak in 2022), “Should’ve Been Me” (No. 16, 2022) and current single “Bug Like an Angel” (up 17-16 on the latest chart, a new high).

Nixon Celebrates Tupac Shakur’s ‘Timeless’ Legacy With Limited-Edition Watches: Shop the Collection

Nixon dropped a limited-edition watch collection inspired by iconic rapper star Tupac Shakur. The Nixon x 2Pac collection includes five custom-designed gold, black and silver watches priced from $175 to $600.

The collection, released on Tuesday (Oct. 3) via Nixon.com, draws inspiration from the late rap icon’s “legacy and timeless style,” according to a press release. The designs pay homage to Shakur’s aesthetic and poetry with unique design elements such as roses and gold bezels and special iconography.

Nixon’s watch collection coincides with the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, and the 27th anniversary of Shakur’s death in September 1996.

In the year prior to his death, Shakur’s style gradually shifted from oversized shirts, hockey jerseys and jeans to dress shirts, vests and three-piece suits accessorized with mounds of diamond and gold jewelry. From chains to watches and rings, the late rapper appreciated expensive jewelry pieces, and didn’t mind stacking them up.

Some items from Shakur’s jewelry collection have since been auctioned off including a gold, ruby and diamond crown ring that sold for $1 million in July and a diamond pendant that sold for $125,000 in 2016.

Eric Nam Talks About His New Album ‘House on a Hill,’ His Tour & More | Billboard News

Eric Nam talks to Billboard about the inspiration behind his new album House on a Hill, the 80-date accompanying tour, directing multiple music videos for the album, his journey to becoming an artist, his mental health and self-care app, Mindset, and more!

Eric Nam:
It’s taken years for us to gain the trust of the artists and also their labels to say it’s OK to talk about these things. Hi, this is Eric Nam, and this is Billboard News.

Tetris Kelly:
Welcome to Billboard News! I’m Tetris Kelly and I get to hang out with my friend Eric Nam today. How’s it going?

Eric Nam:
Everything’s good. How are you?

Tetris Kelly:
I cannot complain.

Tetris Kelly:
Let’s talk about this album, House on a Hill. It’s out now and you co-wrote the entire project. So how did that feel, to be so involved in the creation of this album?

Eric Nam:
You know, I think I’ve always been pretty involved in my album. But this one was particularly involved because not only was it the music and the entire songwriting and production process, but it also extended to the music video … the multiple music videos, the short film, photos, everything. And so you know, and I think, naturally, as an ambitious person, I try to elevate and upgrade every album. So how do we beat the last one? That was kind of like my biggest homework for this project.

Tetris Kelly:
But also, you kind of were a bit of a Beyoncé with this album, I will say. Dropping the visuals with the album, I feel like she set the groundwork for you to be great. So tell me how it was to direct music videos with all the songs that sounds like so much work?

SZA Says Her Short-Lived Romance With Drake Was ‘Youth Vibes’

SZA don’t miss no ex, don’t miss no text — especially when it’s Drake.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the “Good Days” singer opened up about the time she casually dated Drizzy back in 2009, when the two were “really young.” She admitted, “It wasn’t hot and heavy or anything. It was like youth vibes. It was so childish.”

Drake also alluded to the duo’s relationship in his 2020 21 Savage and Metro Boomin collaboration, “Mr. Right Now,” in which he raps, “Said she wanna f— to some SZA, wait / ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08 / If you cool with it, baby, she can still play.”

As for how she views romantic relationships now, SZA shared, “I feel like I have more to offer than the way I look and my energy, but it’s like, I’m human, that s— is all-encompassing. I want to stunt like me when I meet the person I envision me being with. I envision them falling in love with me the way I am. But I guess it’s like I have to release that idea. Maybe it’s because I don’t know if I’ll like the way I am later?”

The singer is currently riding a high with her S.O.S. hit “Snooze,” which marked her second No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. “Snooze” likewise is SZA’s second career champ on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. She first led with the two-week No. 1 “Shirt” in February.
