The “All I Want for Christmas” singer shared photos from the festive campaign on her social media accounts on Thursday. “Celebrating the holidays with @victoriassecret ??? #VictoriasSecret,” she wrote.

Carey is seen wearing Victoria’s Secret’s Satin Bow-Tied Corset Top ($79,95), Wicked Unlined Bow Embroidery Balconette Bra ($64.95), Satin Flounce Robe ($69.95) and Gold Sequined Floral Embroidery Underwire Slip ($99.95).

The campaign was shot by photographer Ethan James Green and styled by Gabriela Karefa-Johnson.

Victoria’s Secret’s latest holiday campaign features pieces inspired by the holidays including the Candy Cane Dreams Satin Bow Corset Top and Gold Sequined Floral Embroidery Low-Cut Demi Bra.

The holiday season is just getting started and the Queen of Christmas has been busy spreading joy. After welcoming the holiday season with a viral, ice-melting Instagram video earlier this week, Carey debuted “It’s Time” T-shirts and other holiday gear available in her Amazon Merch shop.

Carey also dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday to promote her upcoming Merry Christmas One And All Tour launching at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel in Highland, Calif. on Nov. 15.

Carey’s 12-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, will be joining her on tour. “They’re gonna do various moments of music-making and merriment,” she revealed.

During the interview, Carey also reacted to being mentioned in Britney Spears’ top-selling memoir, The Woman in Me. Spears gushed over Carey in the book and shared a story about meeting in her dressing room and snapping a photo together. “I love her,” Carey told Kimmel. “That was super sweet what Britney said about me.”

Jung Kook, The Beatles, Olivia Rodrigo & More: Which Is Your Favorite Music Release of the Week?

The first new music Friday of November sees a K-pop star stepping firmly into the spotlight, one of the biggest rock bands of all time using tech to make something old new again, and a recent Billboard chart-topper lending her chops to a blockbuster movie series, with new releases from Jung Kook, The Beatles and Olivia Rodrigo.

Jung Kook’s solo album, Golden, arrived on Friday, making him the final member of BTS to release his own LP. The project is well worth the wait, as the vocalist’s range shines through in his use of poppy hooks and infectious melodies, as seen on lead singles “Seven” and “3D,” but the deeper cuts is where Jung Kook shows his ability to create more intimate moments, like the declarations and breaths on “Closer to You” (created with Major Lazer) and the clear yearning on “Somebody.” With 1 billion Spotify streams for “Seven” already, the BTS star is firmly stepping into solo stardom outside the group.

When news of a “new” song by The Beatles surfaced — featuring all four members and being revived through use of modern technology — fans young and old were tuned in, and it’s no surprise as to why. “Now and Then” reminds listeners of the Fab Four’s innate ability to tug at one’s heartstrings through delicate guitar playing and sentimental lyricism.

Olivia Rodrigo is following in the footsteps of her musical heroes, contributing to The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes original motion picture soundtrack. “Can’t Catch Me Now” taps into the pop star’s acoustic capabilities, telling the story of the film while managing to tie a thread between the stylings of her sophomore album, GUTS.

Megan Thee Stallion and Marshmello also released new material this week, but which release was your favorite? Vote in our poll below.

Here’s How Travis Kelce Reacted When Asked if He’s ‘In Love’ With Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce is respecting his relationship with Taylor Swift by keeping matters private.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end was out in Germany this week and spoke to the media to preview the Chiefs’ Sunday international game against the Miami Dolphins. When he was asked for an update on his relationship with the “Blank Space” singer, Kelce replied, “The latest status is I got to see her last week. That’s the latest status right there.”

The reporter then asked if the NFL star is “in love,” to which Kelce replied, “I’m going to keep my personal relationship personal.”

While Swift and Kelce have not publicly confirmed the official status of their budding romance, the “Anti-Hero” singer and the athlete were seen interlocking fingers once again as they left Chiefs vs. Chargers game two weeks ago. Earlier in the day, Kelce assisted the Chiefs in defeating Los Angeles 31-17 at Arrowhead Stadium, which Swift watched from a private box suite with Brittany Mahomes, wife of KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes, all while wearing a No. 87 friendship bracelet. The game marked the fourth Chiefs match attended by the 12-time Grammy winner this season.

Swift was also spotted giving Kelce a kiss on the cheek in an Instagram photo posted by wide receiver Mecole Hardman’s girlfriend Chiarah Gordon on Monday (Oct. 23), adding fuel to the fire of relationship rumors between the two superstars.

How blink-182 Balanced Nostalgia With Emotional Directness to Recapture the Billboard 200

In a year that’s been dominated by familiar albums and re-releases at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, this week served up a refreshing new No. 1: veteran punk rock band blink-182, which returned with the album One More Time and scored its first placement atop the tally with its original lineup — Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker — since 2001.

The album’s coronation was not a flash-in-the-pan, news cycle nostalgia play. Instead, it was the result of a year-long reunion and rollout plan that included a massive world tour, a string of singles and a behind-the-scenes video series with hundreds of thousands of views that both allowed the band’s original fans to get a glimpse inside the lives of their longtime heroes and brought in new fans drawn to the group’s irreverent humor and oddball visuals. For a group that came of age in the heyday of MTV — and was well-known for its provocative and hilarious music videos — the visual element was a key part of re-engaging that fan base, helping earn Columbia Records senior vp of video production Saul Levitz the title of Billboard’s Executive of the Week.

Here, Levitz breaks down the content plan behind the group’s big comeback, the nostalgia factor of a beloved band’s reunion, how the visuals reflected the music and more. “We wanted to bring context and emotion to every visual,” Levitz says. “Whether it be the album trailers or music videos, we needed to bring the audience into the cathartic moment that the band was going through.”

This week, blink-182’s One More Time debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the group’s first No. 1 with its original lineup since 2001. What key decisions did you make to help make that happen?

We wanted to bring context and emotion to every visual. Whether it be the album trailers or music videos, we needed to bring the audience into the cathartic moment that the band was going through. When Ron [Perry, Columbia chairman/CEO] first sent across the song “One More Time” I cried every time I listened to it and felt the visuals needed to match this place it was taking the listener. Both because the band was processing their own lives with a directness they hadn’t before and also because it’s a universal message that can be applied to any relationship that has gone silent due to ego, mismanagement, or just time letting it slip away.

blink obviously has been around a long time, but it had been years since they released an album. How did you approach the content given that history?

There’s always a pull between nostalgia and making things feel fresh and modern. The modern approach usually wins out because no artist wants to rest on their laurels when rolling out new music. But this time it felt more appropriate because the band was acknowledging their past in a way that confirmed a lot of what the fan base had been thinking in their heads but never heard them say to each other. Never had I seen the fan base live vicariously through each member’s journey. They saw a piece of themselves in Tom, Mark or Travis’s personal journey, so we had to acknowledge that and not make it seem like it didn’t mean anything.

blink’s original incarnation was also at the height of the music-video era, and many of their videos are iconic. How did you balance that track record with bringing in new elements for this project?

Oh man, this is the best part of the job — living up to expectations and a visual history. We literally went inside so many of these iconic music videos for the “One More Time” video so this process was less about living up to those videos and more about celebrating them. There is so much expectation for their videos to be funny and self-aware. The band wanted to push beyond this expectation, though. Their personalities have also evolved so much that as soon as something felt too much like something the old blink-182 would do it stopped feeling fresh. But trust that Tom kept things OG on set with the humor and personality that people remember the band for.

This album also had an extended rollout, with the first single being released a full year before the album. How did that help you develop and roll out the content for it?

Being on the “EDGING” set was a revelation. The band hadn’t played together in forever, and even though they were playing to track there was something so clear about how they all locked in musically together and how their personalities melded together to create this nexus of what the band was. I remember being on set and thinking, “How could these guys ever have not been together?” It seemed so effortless and perfect the way they complemented each other through friendship and music. And Cole Bennett did a tremendous job with the video having the POV of a younger fan who has embraced the band’s legacy and sees their influence on a ton of new artists in genres you wouldn’t expect. It’s rare that you have a gap this long between a first single and then the album, but it certainly made us realize early the power the band had in this trinity coming together.

In a way, this entire project could be seen as a throwback: an extended rollout strategy, big radio singles, a major tour around the world and a beloved rock band topping the charts. What’s the significance of that in this era of the music industry, when things are often on much tighter timelines and rock rarely reaches No. 1?

I attribute the success as much to the music just being f—ing great and everyone seeing a part of themselves in the journey of these three individuals that come together and put aside their differences and find that spark again that made them special and unique and beloved. It was amazing to have the amount of time needed to get everything right, and that is rare nowadays, but without those other elements being in place the time is irrelevant. This album is less about the story of rock returning and more about how the audience can see themselves within artists that share so much of themselves and their journey. If you can make them cry, you’ve got something.

Facing UMG Lawsuit, Anthropic Tells Copyright Office That AI Training Is a ‘Lawful’ Fair Use

Offering a preview of arguments the company might make in its upcoming legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG), artificial intelligence (AI) company Anthropic PBC told the U.S. Copyright Office this week that the massive scraping of copyrighted materials to train AI models is a “quintessentially lawful.”

Music companies, songwriters and artists have argued that such training represents an infringement of their works at a vast scale, but Anthropic told the federal agency Monday (Oct. 30) that it was clearly allowed under copyright’s fair use doctrine.

“The copying is merely an intermediate step, extracting unprotectable elements about the entire corpus of works, in order to create new outputs,” the company wrote. “This sort of transformative use has been recognized as lawful in the past and should continue to be considered lawful in this case.”

The filing came as part of an agency study aimed at answering thorny questions about how existing intellectual property laws should be applied to the disruptive new tech. Other AI giants, including OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, Google and Stability AI all lodged similar filings, explaining their views.

But Anthropic’s comments will be of particular interest in the music industry because that company was sued last month by UMG over the very issues in question in the Copyright Office filing. The case, the first filed over music, claims that Anthropic unlawfully copied “vast amounts” of copyrighted songs when it trained its Claude AI tool to spit out new lyrics.

In the filing at the Copyright Office, Anthropic argued that such training was a fair use because it copied material only for the purpose of “performing a statistical analysis of the data” and was not “re-using the copyrighted expression to communicate it to users.”

“To the extent copyrighted works are used in training data, it is for analysis (of statistical relationships between words and concepts) that is unrelated to any expressive purpose of the work,” the company argued.

UMG is sure to argue otherwise, but Anthropic said legal precedent was clearly on its side. Notably, the company cited a 2015 ruling by a federal appeals court that Google was allowed to scan and upload millions of copyrighted books to create its searchable Google Books database. That ruling and others established the principle that “large-scale copying” was a fair use when done to “create tools for searching across those works and to perform statistical analysis.”

“The training process for Claude fits neatly within these same paradigms and is fair use,” Anthropic’s lawyers wrote. “Claude is intended to help users produce new, distinct works and thus serves a different purpose from the pre-existing work.”

Anthropic acknowledged that the training of AI models could lead to “short-term economic disruption.” But the company said such problems were “unlikely to be a copyright issue.”

“It is still a matter that policymakers should take seriously (outside of the context of copyright) and balance appropriately against the long-term benefits of LLMs on the well-being of workers and the economy as a whole by providing an entirely new category of tools to enhance human creativity and productivity,” the company wrote.

Here’s Why Fans Think Megan Thee Stallion Is Rapping About a Cheating Ex on ‘Cobra’

On Friday (Nov. 3), Megan Thee Stallion made her solo return to the music scene with “Cobra,” her first unaccompanied non-soundtrack single since Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting her in July 2020.

The new song and video are packed with serpentine imagery, with Megan literally “shedding” her skin in the track’s Douglas Bernardt-helmed clip. Over a beat punctuated by rock guitars, the H-Town Hottie spits, “At night, I’m sittin’ in a dark room thinkin’ / Probably why I always end up drinkin’ / Yes, I’m very depressed / How can somebody so blessed wanna slit they wrist?”

Since the song’s release, fans have latched onto Megan’s intensely vulnerable and revelatory lyrics, commending the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper for her honesty and bravery. “Megan is being extremely vulnerable with this record & I hope we give her, as a Black woman, a safe space that she deserves for sharing this with us through her art form,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter). Another user pointed out that “Cobra” follows a long line of emotional deep cuts from Megan, writing, “I’m crying at ppl acting like this Megan first vulnerable song ever made. This how I know yall not listening to her albums.”

“Cobra” boasts two particular revelations that have dominated the social media conversation. First, the “Savage” rapper reveals that she has recently been battling suicidal ideation and alcohol abuse, spitting, “Shit, I’d probably bleed out some Pinot / When they find me, I’m in Valentino / He pourin’ me shots, thinkin’ it’s lit / Hah, little did he know” and “Damn, I finally see it / I’m killin’ myself when b—es would die to be me.”

The other shocking revelation is her claim that one of her ex-partners cheated on her in her own house. “Pulled up, caught him cheatin’, gettin’ his d–k sucked in the same spot I’m sleepin’ / Lord, give me a break, I don’t know how much more of this s–t I can take,” she raps. With some simple calendar math and a bit of sleuthing, Meg’s Hotties seem to think that the cheating ex-partner in question is Pardison “Pardi” Fontaine, a Grammy-winning rapper and songwriter who dated Megan from 2020 to the top of 2023.

Pardi appeared to respond to the infidelity allegations via his Instagram Story, sharing a meme clip of Future saying “It’s an evil world we live in,” followed by an image of a laughing Tristan Thompson. He then limited the comments on his main feed.

See what fans had to say about Megan Thee Stallion, Pardison Fontaine and her new song below.

Op Alert: Mayor Eric Adams Consultant’s Home Raided By FBI

The home of a top consultant to New York City Mayor Eric Adams was raided by the FBI, prompting Adams to cancel a major trip to head back to the city.

In the early morning hours on Thursday (Nov. 2), agents with the FBI conducted a raid on the Crown Heights home of Brianna Suggs. Suggs is the top fund-raiser for New York City Mayor Eric Adams and an esteemed campaign consultant of his. Suggs was also reportedly questioned by agents, who left with three iPhones, two computers and files bearing Adams’ name from her home. Federal agents also executed the search warrant at the KSK Construction Group in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in addition to other residences. Investigators are also looking into a small college outside of Washington D.C. with ties to Turkey.

Suggs has been a strong fund-raiser for Mayor Adams, helping his successful campaign obtain $18.4 million in funding. She was also working on his 2025 reelection campaign, with reports saying that $900,000 has been raised so far. The FBI warrant is tied to an ongoing investigation to determine whether Adams’ campaign conspired with the construction company and the Turkish government to direct foreign money to the campaign by using straw donors in 2021. Adams has previously been vocal about his trips to Turkey, saying, “I think I’m on my sixth or seventh visit,” during a flag-raising ceremony for the nation in lower Manhattan last week.

News of the raid led Mayor Adams to abruptly cancel a series of meetings with other city mayors in Washington D.C. concerning the ongoing migrant crisis in New York to head back home with his team. When asked about his hurried return by reporters later that evening at a Dia De Los Muertos event at Gracie Mansion, he said he would comply with any inquiries from federal authorities. “I feel extremely comfortable about how I comply with rules and procedures,” Adams said. “I hold myself to a high standard, and I hold my campaign to a high standard, and I hold my staff at City Hall to a high standard.”

The raid comes weeks after another high-ranking figure close to Mayor Adams, former city buildings commissioner Eric Ulrich, was indicted and charged with using his position to extract bribes in the form of cash and other gifts for favors, which included access to Mayor Adams.

Keffe D appeared in court this week at a Nevada Court. He has formally plead not guilty to the murder of Tupac Shakur.

The Associated Press is reporting that the former Southside Crip gang member plans to fight for his freedom. On Thursday, November 2 he appeared in shackles before Clark County District Court Judge Tierra Jones. When asked the magistrate asked his plea the 60-year-old born Duane Keith Davis responded “not guilty”. The judge stated the court will not be seeking the death penalty and also confirmed that Compton, California native will be represented by public defenders Robert Arroyo and Charles Cano.

On September 29 Davits was arrested outside of his home in Las Vegas on murder charges regarding Tupac Shakur’s death. Two months prior local authorities conducted a search at his residence relating to the case. The indictment claims that Keffe D obtained a gun from an associate and provided the weapon to one of his crew members while riding the white Cadillac sedan that opened fire on Tupac Shakur on September 7, 1996.

While the murder was never officially solved former Los Angeles Detective Greg Kading released Murder Rap in 2011. The book follows how a task force that he lead worked the cold case and eventually revealed that Keffe D admitted to his role in Tupac’s murder. Years later Davis would release his own book and participate in various online interviews detailing his role in the infamous crime. Keffe alleged that his nephew Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson was the triggerman; the same individual Tupac and the Death Row Records entourage attacked at the MGM Grand Hotel.

Kendrick Lamar and the Global Citizen organization will partner to create a concert tour circuit for the African continent.

According to reports, the Global Citizen philanthropic organization is teaming up with Kendrick Lamar and his pgLang company to establish a major circuit for concert tours across the African continent. The initiative will begin with the “Move Afrika: Rwanda” concert which will feature Kendrick Lamar as the headliner on a bill with other local artists at the BK Arena in Rwanda’s capital city of Kigali on December 6.

“Our goal with Move Afrika is to inspire local youth and artists to unlock their creativity. We hope to curate an immersive experience that empowers various communities and cultures across Africa and around the world for a lifetime,” said pgLang in a press statement on the Global Citizen website announcing the event. An expansion of “Move Afrika” shows to neighboring nations is set to be held in 2025, and pgLang will oversee the curation of those shows for the next five years in coordination with Global Citizen and the Rwanda Development Board.

Much like its other concert events, fans who wish to see Kendrick Lamar live can purchase priority tickets when they’re available, or enter to win tickets through the Global Citizen app or the Global Citizen website. One difference is that while people would be able to watch Global Citizen concert events online if they’re not able to attend in person, the “Move Afrika: Rwanda” concert will not be streaming globally. “We want people across East Africa to be able to stream this and watch it on television live,” said Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans, citing also a wish to spotlight the local artists who will also be on the bill.

“The most exciting thing, honestly, is the hunger I see from the artist community to achieve this dream. I don’t think this is Global Citizen’s dream per se; I think this is the world’s dream,” Evans continued. “I think everyone has dreamed of doing this, and we’re just working to modestly try to create some scaffolding around it. In fact, probably not a week goes by when I don’t speak to an artist about their dream to do more across Africa.”

For more information, head over to the Global Citizen website.
