The series of four back-to-back shows, dubbed “La Meta” (The Goal), kicked off Nov. 30 at The Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan and included a global livestream of Sunday’s concert with the purchase of a $20 ticket.

Fans back home and those connected virtually not only enjoyed a live musical journey through Yankee’s 30-year career, but also observed his vulnerability and transparency when the singer opened up about embracing his faith and religious beliefs.

“This is the most important day of my life and I want to share it because it’s not easier living a life with success than a life with purpose,” the star born Raymond Ayala said during his address from the stage.

“For many years I’ve tried filling a void in my life that no one could fill. I tried finding a purpose, on many occasions it seemed as if I was happy but something was missing for me to feel complete. I have to confess that those days are over and someone was able to fill that void that I felt for a lot of time. I realized that for everyone I was someone but I was no one without him,” he continued. “Throughout the years I was able to travel the world, win many awards, applaud and praise but I realized something that’s in the Bible: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

The global artist, who spearheaded the reggaeton movement with his 2004 breakthrough hit “Gasolina,” proudly expressed that God lives in him and he will live for him.

“A chapter has ended but a new one will begin,” he noted. “All the tools that I have in my power, like music, social media, platforms, a microphone, everything that God has given me is now for his kingdom. Thank you, Puerto Rico, and I hope you walk with me in this new beginning and I hope you remember something very important: Don’t follow any person. I am human. To all the people who follow me, follow Jesus Christ, he’s the way, the truth, and the life.”

“La Meta” was part of his retirement tour La Última Vuelta that kicked off last year and landed at No. 13 on the Top 40 Tours of 2022 with a total gross of over $125 million, according to Billboard’s Year-End Boxscore charts. Yankee now joins a wave of reggaeton stars who have opened up about their faith including Farruko, Hector “El Father” Delgado, El General, and more.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again Thrashes Joe Budden After Recent Criticism: ‘I Don’t Play That S–t’

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Joe Budden, it’s that he isn’t shy about mincing words when it comes to his feelings about today’s hip-hop stars, as proven by his viral spat with Drake earlier this fall. On the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, Budden took aim at Young Boy Never Broke Again, discrediting his merit as a superstar.

“That n—a is trash, he’s horrible. He is really bad,” Budden said. “That thing happened with him where when he was out, the label pushed the button and did some YouTube sh-t, so all the little kids had to come to the gathering and tell you about how great he is and how many views he has and all of that. Now that the label is backed up, we got three to four of those projects while he’s been in Utah on house arrest.”

YoungBoy barked back with a vicious diatribe of his own. “The last thing I dropped was Decided 2, and my album is still in the top 10 [on Apple Music] p—y ass n—a,” he said on Instagram. “Don’t speak on me, I don’t play that s–t. Don’t rat on me either, you pu–y ass bi–h.”

He later invited Budden to have a proper sit-down with him in Utah, where he’s currently on house arrest. “You stupid dumb b–h, your d–k don’t even get hard no more clown ass n—a. Ain’t no sabotaging me, b—h. F–k wrong with that n—a, man. Don’t rat on me b—h. And I don’t want to argue with your b–h ass. B–ch you do all them interviews, come on Grave Digger Mountain and talk to me n—a, if you can’t do that you bi–h made shut your f–king mouth.”

Later, YoungBoy’s advocate, Birdman, joined the fray and sent warning shots to Budden, urging him to stop “f–kin with something you should leave alone.” YoungBoy is currently under house arrest in Salt Lake City tied to a 2020 arrest in Los Angeles tied to gun and drug charges.

As previously mentioned, Budden was embroiled in a verbal skirmish with Drake last October, after he dubbed For All The Dogs a lackluster album. That resulted in Drake firing shots his way on tracks and on social media.

“@joebudden you have failed at music,” Drake began his lengthy message. “You left it behind to do what you are doing in this clip cause this is what actually pays your bills. For any artist watching this just remember you are watching a failure give their opinion on his idea of a recipe for success… a quitter give their opinion on how to achieve longevity…”

Maren Morris Applauds Taylor Swift, The Chicks & Other ‘Brave’ Female Musicians Who Won’t ‘Shut Up and Sing’

Maren Morris was awarded Changemaker of the Year at Variety’s Hitmakers Brunch this weekend, and she used her acceptance speech to share the spotlight with fellow female musicians who she said have given her courage to stand up for what she believes in.

Recalling the “backlash” she’s faced over the years in response to her activism and political disputes with other public figures, the 33-year-old country pop star told the audience that she “found solace in the stories of my musical heroines.” Those heroines include Taylor Swift, for “taking back ownership of her life’s work,” and The Chicks, for “criticizing a sitting United States president on invading Iraq at the height of their country music career,” Morris said, according to People.

Morris also praised the late Sinead O’Connor — who passed away over the summer — for “shining a light on the abuses of the Catholic Church” as well as Billie Holiday for “continuing to perform ‘Strange Fruit’ in protest, even with a racially targeted FBI investigation threatening her.”

“They were all told not to bite the hand,” continued the “Middle” singer. “They were all told to shut up and sing. Now, I would never be silly enough to compare myself or my story to these women, but I have found deep inspiration in their courage in my moments of loneliness.”

“You have to be a giant pain in the a– to make any kind of change, because you’re criticizing and trying to dismantle a status quo and making comfortable people feel uncomfortable,” Morris added.

The Hitmakers event comes a couple months after Morris announced plans to step back from the country music industry, parts of which she’s said are “toxic.” In the years leading up to her decision — which includes no longer submitting her music for country awards consideration and switching record labels — the Grammy winner became known for advocating for LGBTQ rights and racial equality.

On many occasions, Morris’ activism resulted in conflicts with everyone from Jason and Brittany Aldean to Tucker Carlson. “I realized very quickly that publicly pointing out these inequalities doesn’t make you the most popular,” she reflected in her Changemaker speech. “If you dare criticize blatant misogyny, racism, transphobia within the ranks of your industry, you’re met with isolation, death threats, labeled as ungrateful, biting the hand that fed you or diminishingly told to just shut up and sing.”

Eslabon Armado & Peso Pluma’s ‘Ella Baila Sola’ Reaches 1 Billion Streams on Spotify

Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma’s “Ella Baila Sola” officially reached one billion streams on Spotify on Sunday (Dec. 3). The high point marks the first-ever música mexicana track to do so, Spotify has confirmed to Billboard Español.

The song — which premiered on April 1 as part of Eslabon Armado’s album Desvelado via DEL Records — had already made history on the all-genres Billboard Hot 100, where it reached its peak at No. 4 and sustained its presence for an impressive 23 weeks. Additionally, the track secured the top spot on various lists, including the Billboard Global 200 for six consecutive weeks, Hot Latin Songs for 19 weeks, and Latin Airplay for one week.

“Happy and blessed we woke up today, Sunday, with this, and all thanks to God and you for making it possible for the song to reach a billion,” Eslabon Armado wrote on their Instagram.

In “Ella Baila Sola,” Eslabon Armado frontman and songwriter Pedro Julian Tovar Oceguera creates a vivid narrative about two close friends captivated by a mesmerizing woman at a gathering. While the inspiration behind this track may be shrouded in mystery, Oceguera’s storytelling prowess shines through. Grounded in the sierreño tradition, the song is rich with enchanting borderland slang, capturing the essence of both Mexican and Mexican-American cultures.

Most recently, the música mexicana hit made Billboard Latin and Billboard Español’s The 50 Best Latin Pop Songs From 2000 to 2023, Ranked list at No. 12.

The track earned the aforementioned group a song of the year Latin Grammy nomination; the two acts also performed it together for the first time at the award show which was held in Seville, Spain this year.

Cardi B Stuns in Blue Faux Fur at Balenciaga Street Show in L.A.

When Cardi B said “Balenciaga Bardi back and all these b–ches f—ed,” she meant it.

On Saturday (Dec. 2), the rapper made a surprise appearance on the runway during Balenciaga’s pre-fall 2024 show in Los Angeles. Taking place on a closed street in the city’s Hancock Park neighborhood, Cardi stunned in her first major catwalk appearance sporting a slicked-back hairdo, diamond jewelry and an eye-catching blue faux-fur coat over a black bodysuit.

Celebrating her first runway, Cardi took to her Instagram to give a shoutout to the brand and her team for making the opportunity possible. “Yesterday was a dream! I had too much fun storming your runway! Thank you to @Balenciaga @Demnagram @johanfleury and the entire team, you all are always so amazing to work with! Thank you to my team @kollincarter_ @tokyostylez @erikalapearl @juanmarioortiz_. DARE TO BE DIFFERENT.” Check out all of the pictures Cardi posted here.

The event marked Balenciaga creative director Denma’s first since the brand came under fire for a controversial ad campaign back in November 2022, featuring photos of children carrying teddy bear-shaped handbags decked in what looked like bondage gear, as well as other photos showing Supreme Court filings pertaining to child pornography. The brand removed the ads and apologized for the scandal via a statement in November, stating “we take full accountability for our lack of oversight and control of the documents in the background and we could have done things differently.”

Meanwhile, fans of Cardi are still on the edges of their seats after the rapper teased new content back in November. During a live Twitter Space event with HipHopDX, Cardi said that she might be putting something out before 2023 is over. “Maybe I should just put a lil’ something something out before the year ends. Would y’all mind if I just do, like, a video?” she said. “I don’t know. I’ll think about it by the end of the day … I just feel like I gotta talk my s–t a little bit.” Cardi has been working on the long-awaited follow-up to her 2018 major label debut, Invasion of Privacy, for more than a year; a release date has not yet been announced for the untitled project.

TikTok and Ticketmaster Expand In-App Partnership to 20 More Markets

TikTok announced that it will bring its in-app ticketing feature, a collaboration with Ticketmaster, to an additional 20 countries on Monday (Dec. 4).

The feature allows artists to put Ticketmaster event links in the clips they post on TikTok, making it easy for their followers to click and buy tickets in the app. TikTok started testing the feature in the U.S. in August 2022.

The two companies didn’t share any information about the results of the test, though they said Niall Horan, The Kooks, Burna Boy, and Shania Twain have all tried it out. TikTok opened access to the feature this week to certified artists in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, Germany, France, Canada, Mexico, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Spain and Sweden.

In a statement, Michael Chua, Ticketmaster’s vp global business development and strategic partnerships, said the partnership will allow artists to “easily connect their content to event discovery and ticket purchase in-app making it easier than ever for fans around the world to experience their favorite artists live.”

“By enabling fans to buy tickets directly through TikTok, we’re giving artists the opportunity to reach ticket buyers in a whole new way,” added Michael Kümmerle, TikTok’s global music partnership development lead. “We hope to deliver further value to all artists throughout all stages of their careers and provide more opportunities for a growing fanbase.”

TikTok has been busy rolling out features lately. Last week, the platform added official artist labels (available once a user has released four songs) and a “new” tag that can be used to highlight an act’s latest release (14 days before the song comes out and for another 30 days after it drops). “These features can deepen engagement whilst creating unique opportunities for fans to connect with their favorite artists in meaningful ways, driving music discovery on the platform,” said Paul Hourican, TikTok’s global head of music partnerships and programming, in a statement.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige Says Robert Downey Jr. Will Not Return As Iron Man

Weeks after rumors began circulating that Marvel Studios was bringing back the OG Avengers such as Iron Man and Captain America to help steady the struggling MCU, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige has confirmed that they have no intention on bringing back your favorite superheroes (damn it!).

In an interview with Vanity Fair for a profile on Robert Downey Jr., Feige broke the news (and the hearts of comic book nerds worldwide) that Robert Downey Jr.’s iteration of Iron Man was officially a wrap. He also shared that they wouldn’t be revisiting his character in any future projects saying: “We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again,” before adding, “We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”

Well, so much for that. The role meant so much to RDJ that he was even hesitant to get back into character after filming for Avengers: Endgame wrapped up.

Variety reports:

Downey was reluctant even to do reshoots and redo a single line of dialogue, Stark’s last, for Endgame. “We’d already said tearful goodbyes on the last day of shooting. Everybody had moved on emotionally,” Joe Russo says. “We promised him it would be the last time we made him do it—ever.”

“That was a difficult thing for him to do, to come back to pick up that line,” Anthony Russo adds. “When he did come back, we were shooting on a stage directly opposite where he auditioned for Tony Stark. So his last line as Tony Stark was shot literally a couple hundred feet from his original audition that got him the role.”

Robert Downey Jr. was indeed… Iron Man.

Now that Feige has pretty much killed any notion of an Iron Man return, fans have begun to wonder if another actor will pick up the mantle as an Iron Man from a different reality as Marvel’s latest multiverse saga has left the door open for such an notion. There were rumors that Tom Cruise (the original choice for 2008’s Iron Man) would suit up as Tony Stark at some point, but it doesn’t seem like that will ever actually materialize at this point.

With the last few MCU movies struggling both at the box office and with its fan base, Kevin Feige knows he has his work cut out for him going into the future as interest in Marvel movies has plummeted in recent years. And with fans only really excited about Deadpool 3, thanks to Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine, Marvel Studios is going to have to pull out a Hail Mary at some point to once again spark interest in their cinematic universe.

What do y’all think? Should Marvel bring back RDJ’s Iron Man or leave him retired for good? Let us know in the comments section below.

Special Prosecutor Wants “Gay Tupac” AKA Jussie Smollett To Return To Jail After Appeal Was Shot Down

Jussie Smollett Could Return To Prison After Appeal Was Denied

French actor Jussie Smolliét, aka Jussie Smollett, hilariously, and his hoodwinking and bamboozling of people into believing he was the victim of a racist, homophobic attack is still a thing. If the special prosecutor gets his way, he will return to jail.

Friday, December 1, an appeals court upheld the disorderly conduct convictions against the former Empire star for allegedly staging a racist, homophobic attack against himself in 2019 and lying about the whole ordeal to Chicago police.

Smollett, who once called himself the “Gay Tupac,” we’re not lying about that, challenged many aspects of the case, like the use of a special prosecutor, evidence, jury selection, and more.

But in a 2-1 opinion from the Illinois Appellate Court, his attempt to finally make it all go away was denied.

He will now have to finish the 150-day jail stint after only serving six days.

Smollett and his legal team plan to fight the decision, while the special prosecutor spoke for Smollett’s return to prison, and both said in statements shared by NBC News

Per NBC News:

In a statement, a spokesperson for Smollett said they plan to fight the decision.

“We wish to highlight that the decision was divided, with Justice [Freddrenna] Lyle offering a detailed analysis in favor of Smollett. We are preparing to escalate this matter to the Supreme Court, armed with a substantial body of evidence,” the statement said.

The special prosecutor assigned to the case, Dan Webb, told NBC News in an interview hours after the court’s decision that Smollett should finish his 150 day jail sentence.

“This is pretty much the end of the road for Mr. Smollett,” Webb said. “Under Illinois law he has one right of appeal, that’s what he had today. The Illinois Appellate Court denied all his issues. He can try to go up to the higher court, the Illinois Supreme Court. That’s a discretionary appeal that would be determined if the Illinois Supreme Court wants to hear his issues. But if that doesn’t happen, then he’s hit the end of the road and he would shortly be in jail.”

Smollett’s legal teams continue to argue that the Gay actor/musician is a victim of “a racist justice system and people playing politics,” NBC News reports.

Webb counters that Smollett needs to adhere to the same standards as everyone else and that he respects his claim to innocence.

He believes Smollett did get a fair trial.

Welp.

Julien’s Auctions Bidding to Join Nashville’s Music Community In 2024

Going once.

Going twice.

Julien’s Auctions is SOLD on Nashville.

Nothing has been finalized, but the California-based auction house is planning to open a Music City office in 2024, after generating closing bids estimated at nearly $9.5 million for music memorabilia during a week at the Hard Rock Café in November.

The week included Music Health Alliance’s (MHA) fourth annual Lyrics for a Cause benefit auction, with Julien’s playing middleman on Nov. 14 for the sale of 57 autographed guitars and documents featuring song lyrics. To cite three examples: A guitar featuring Keith Urban’s signature alongside the words from “Blue Ain’t Your Color” netted $7,800; a “Girl Crush” guitar autographed by The Love Junkies — songwriters Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose and Lori McKenna — brought another $1,950; and a “wait in the truck” guitar inked by HARDY and Lainey Wilson earned $4,445.

Julien’s followed Nov. 15-17 with its Played, Worn, & Torn Rock ‘N’ Roll: Iconic Guitars and Memorabilia Auction. Among more than 1,000 sales, an Eric Clapton guitar went for $1.3 million, a pair of Kurt Cobain’s jeans scored $476,000, and a signed Elvis Presley karate certificate pulled in $5,850. That auction also included a smattering of country items: a stage-worn Dolly Parton cape, $10,160; a Hee Haw contract signed by Johnny Cash and June Carter, $2,222.50; and Jerry Lee Lewis’ cowboy boots, $1,625.

Julien’s founder/president Darren Julien and founder/executive director Martin Nolan anticipated Nashville would have a significant regional draw for in-person bidding, on top of its online activity, and it played out even better than expected.

“People came from Missouri, Georgia, Alabama and Illinois just to see [the auction],” Nolan observes. “There’s definitely a huge interest here.”

Julien’s is already planning another Nashville-based auction in May, but it’s also scouting locations for an office, believing the market is underserved for celebrity sales. The company plans initially to staff with just one or two people who would utilize strong local connections to bring sale items to the public. The employees wouldn’t be expected to know how to price prospective memorabilia at the start; Julien’s has 30-plus employees in Gardena, Calif., and some of them can offer that expertise as the new Nashville team gets its bearings and Julien’s, if its plan works, ingratiates itself in the market.

A “Girl Crush” guitar autographed by The Love Junkies — songwriters Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose and Lori McKenna

A “Girl Crush” guitar autographed by The Love Junkies — songwriters Hillary Lindsey, Liz Rose and Lori McKenna — recently brought in $1,950.

“It’s a contemporary recording community across all different genres of music,” says Nolan. “Obviously, it has a very rich musical heritage, and that sort of fits squarely into our growth plans.”

Julien’s is celebrating its 20th anniversary, having entered the auction market shortly after the largest celebrity memorabilia houses, Christie’s and Sotheby’s, paid over $550 million apiece to settle a price-fixing case. Julien’s aggressively pursued the potential of online bidding, allowing buyers from around the globe to compete with in-person customers. The technology was comparatively primitive at the time — a seven-second delay in digital bids affected the proceedings, and Nolan remembers his Blackberry ran out of juice in the inaugural sale during that pre-smartphone era.

The company also put a premium, Nolan maintains, on more personalized service with high-profile clients who come with their own set of expectations.

Cher wants her design one way, Barbra Streisand wants it another way, and Don McLean has another idea and Janet Jackson has another idea, and Ringo Starr,” says Nolan. “The big auction houses don’t have the resources to sit down with a celebrity and hold hands and walk them through the process and make it seamless for them.”

The stars deserve that kind of treatment, Nolan suggests.

“They’ve been hugely successful marketing geniuses in their own right,” he says. “There’s a fan base worldwide that wants to own something representing their life and career.”

Julien’s has made believers of MHA through its work on the agency’s Heal the Music fundraising auctions.

“In the last four years, Julien’s Auctions has not only elevated Music Health Alliance’s Lyrics for a Cause benefit auction to unprecedented heights through their global audience, they also seamlessly fused historical accuracy, integrity, and respect into the fabric of our mission to #HealTheMusic,” says MHA auction producer Colleen Hoagland. “Julien’s commitment to the minute details coupled with a passion for our cause has turned fundraising into an art form.”

Establishing a stronger foothold in Nashville’s music community — particularly in country — would expand on Julien’s existing cultural connections. The company regularly holds auctions focused on pop music, TV and movies, sports and art.

Upcoming auctions include 1,000-plus lots of memorabilia from the collection of ZZ Top’s Dusty Hill Dec. 7-9 in Dallas; a Robots, Wizards, Heroes & Aliens event Dec. 14-15 in Hollywood featuring items associated with such franchises as Breaking Bad, Harry Potter and Batman; and a Dec. 16-17 sale of materials from The Big Lebowski.

Julien’s does get its fair share of pushback. When the company approached Parton about selling off some of her personal artifacts, she initially rebuffed the offer, reportedly telling them, “I’m not dead yet.” But there are other reasons for celebs to part with their history, Nolan insists, such as raising money for charity, downsizing and connecting with members of the fan base.

Beyond the headline-making million-dollar guitars, auctions often include smaller-priced items that are obtainable for fans of more modest means. As an example, photos, signed letters and several awards all went for less than $500 at a 2022 Kenny Rogers auction.

In its way, Nashville’s best-known export — country music — is a perfect fit for Julien’s.

“We’re all nostalgic,” says Nolan. “We’re all buying into something [from] our youth or a life stage when we got married, or first kid, or we were graduating college — whatever it is, it harks back to that time. We want to own the toys from that era. And that’s what we’re selling.”
