Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign’s Elusive Album ‘Vultures’ Will Drop on New Year’s Eve

Kanye West failed to drop his collaborative album Vultures with Ty Dolla $ign this past Friday (Dec. 15), but his spokesperson told Billboard that he has a new release date. The elusive album will arrive Dec. 31 on New Year’s Eve.

Vultures has been the talk of the genre these last few weeks, considering West’s controversial remarks and numerous clearance issues. Kanye’s anticipated “Everybody” record, which samples the Backstreet Boys 1999 hit “Backstreet Back,” was reportedly not cleared. In addition, last week, Nicki Minaj failed to grant West’s request to clear their 2018 collaboration “New Body.” During her Instagram Live, Minaj responded to a text message she received from West regarding clearance, and the Queens MC denied him the opportunity.

“Now regarding Kanye, that train has left the station, OK?” she said. “No disrespect in any way, I just put out a brand new album. Now why would I put out a song that has been out for three years? Come on guys. You know?” West responded to Minaj’s rejection at a Vultures listening party, saying, “I made that girl rewrite her verse three times for ‘Monster.’ I supported her career.”

At the same listening party, West went on a lengthy diatribe where he namedropped several celebrities, including Jay-Z, Drake, Travis Scott, and Donald Trump. “Who you think the old man call? When we put Drake on stage, who you think the old man call? You know what I’m saying. Drake, this is what you been waiting for. Jay-Z, this is what you been waiting for. Adidas, this is what you been waiting for. Kim, this is what you been waiting for.”

Symone Sanders-Townsend Gathered GOP Rep After Debunking His Lies

MSNBC host Symone Sanders-Townsend blasted a Republican politician on-air for false claims about her and President Joe Biden.

In another example of what not to do with Black women on top of their game, MSNBC host Symone Sanders-Townsend embarrassed a Republican member of the House of Representatives who appeared on her show over the weekend. Representative Tim Burchett of Tennessee found himself in a corner unable to answer the host’s questions on why he supported the House’s inquiry to impeach President Joe Biden.

“You all are saying that you’re going to follow the facts in the inquiry, but there has been no evidence that has been produced that the president committed a high crime or misdemeanor while he was president. And so if you don’t find any evidence, at what point will the inquiry be considered concluded?” Sanders-Townsend asked.

Burchett then rattled off false claims about payments linked to the president’s son, Hunter Biden, which Republicans claim is proof that the president took advantage of his office. “I haven’t heard a high crime or misdemeanor yet,” the host replied. “Are you gonna let me answer the question, ma’am? I know you’re a Democrat operative and work for a Democrat consulting firm, but —” Burchett began.

“Alright, congressman, let’s do it then,” Symone cut in swiftly, adding that they are “out of time, but we’re gonna do it. I did use to advise a number of individuals, I’ve also advised some corporations and companies, but here I’m just here to be an advocate for the viewer,” she said. “And I will ask you one last time. What is the evidence that the committee has that Joe Biden, while he was president, committed a high crime, misdemeanor, or treason? Because that is the bar for an impeachment inquiry.”

Burchett responded, “You have to ask yourself, ma’am, why a vice president or a president would get $40,000 through a Chinese communist corporation…” It was at that point that Sanders-Townsend cut him off. “With that thank you very much, congressman it’s always a pleasure, you just can’t come on here and lie,” she said. The impeachment inquiry by the House Republicans has drawn many critics who feel its nothing but a distraction – Burchett is an avid supporter of former President Donald Trump and voted to remove former Speaker Kevin McCarthy from his position earlier this year.

It seems Cardi B and Offset are in a really bad place. She recently went off on social media and said he did her wrong.

The Bronx bombshell recently went on Instagram Live to vent and did not hold anything back. Even though she didn’t show her face, the “Bongos” rapper was clearly upset as she was trying her best to hold back tears. “This motherf****er really likes to play games with me at my most vulnerable time. When I’m not the most confident,” she revealed. “He likes to play games with me because he knows that I’m not an easy girl.”

She would go on to allege that the Migos front man has not been honoring his marital vows. “You’ve really been feeling yourself… because of your bi*** a** album and sh*t. And you really been doing me dirty after so many f****ing years that I motherf***ing helped your a**,” she added. “Not even a f***ing thank you that I got from your bi*** a**.” Cardi added, “And it’s so crazy that I have to go to the f***ing internet because whenever I tell you something you don’t say sh*t to me and I’m so tired of it.”

Last week, Bardi confirmed the rumors that two have split up. “I’ve been single for a minute now. But I have been afraid… Not afraid, I just don’t know how to tell the world. But I feel like today has been, like, a sign” she stated. “I don’t know if you guys have been getting clues from me, from my Lives, or from my Stories, when I put some certain music, or find my unfollowings.”

Offset has yet to comment on the matter. You can watch Cardi B’s Live below.

King Gnu Talk New Album ‘THE GREATEST UNKNOWN,’ Share Production Process & More: Interview

The members of Japanese rock band King Gnu spoke with Billboard Japan for its Monthly Feature interview series highlighting today’s leading artists and works. The hugely popular four-man group released THE GREATEST UNKNOWN on Nov. 29, its first new studio album in about four years.

King Gnu’s 2019 album CEREMONY swept the charts and made them one of the leading bands in Japan, and the group has since dominated the scene on a scale fit for a “King” — an arena tour, a two-day headliner at the Tokyo Dome, and a stadium tour. THE GREATEST UNKNOWN is an album bursting with King Gnu’s original creativity beyond their narrative of making it big as a band in the Japanese music scene.

What did the members want to express in this new album, which they say allowed them to zero in on a sound that only these four can make by becoming liberated from the basic band format? Billboard Japan asked King Gnu’s mastermind Daiki Tsuneta, drummer Yu Seki, bassist Kazuki Arai and vocalist / keyboardist Satoru Iguchi to elaborate on where the band stands today and what they have in store for the future.

THE GREATEST UNKNOWN is really an amazing album. Could you tell us how you all feel about it?

Satoru Iguchi: Well, we presented what we consider to be King Gnu’s “answer” to J-pop once with the previous album CEREMONY, and from there we wanted to make another album as a counter to that, and I think that has taken form in a solid way.

Yu Seki: This time, I’m not just playing the drums like I did before. In fact, I hardly play the drums at all. It feels like I was able to try something new.

Kazuki Arai: A lot of the tracks were featured as tie-ins, and this band has considerable variation depending on the song, so during the production I was like, “Can these really become an album?” and was really worried. Once the project was completed, it really felt like something that could be listened to as a single piece of work. I think my strongest feeling is that of huge relief.

Daiki Tsuneta: I really sensed the growth of the band and each individual member. I feel relieved.

Is the sense of accomplishment different in nature from that of CEREMONY?

Tsuneta: Totally different. With CEREMONY, I was so caught up in the need to break out and make it big, so I had no emotional leeway and was short-sighted. This time, I made adjustments regarding such things. Of course, I feel strongly about all of our songs, but I carefully eradicated the things I didn’t like at the time and was able to create by focusing more on my way of production and on the things I’m making.

Arai: Yeah. The production flow of the album was also definitely different between CEREMONY and this time. For CEREMONY, Tsuneta would sometimes share with the band a song that had to be finished before he was sure about how it should be done, so we’d have to record it on that day even though the arrangement hadn’t been finalized. But with the new album, it’s like each of us found common ground within ourselves in that sense. It felt like we made this album as an extension of our daily lives, and it’s still ongoing. So I feel really fulfilled, but not burnt out.

Where does the difference come from?

Arai: I think the biggest difference is that the production flow was different from the previous one. Specifically, Tsuneta built his own recording studio, and we began working on songs based on a division of labor system. Each of us was able to fully concentrate on our own parts, so we had more time to reflect on ourselves. Satoru’s way of approaching his singing and Yu’s way of approaching music programming take time, so I imagine our way of doing things before was obviously a bit hard for them to begin with.

Tsuneta: Yeah. There was a brief period when the four of us would get together in the studio and record a little bit at a time, starting with the rhythm section and somehow making the rest of it all add up in the end, but I thought that didn’t reflect everyone’s intrinsic creativity. This time, everyone adapted to the new flow. I think it was probably a good fit for all of us.

Seki: Yeah, a part of me wanted it. When we do it together, we have to record the drums first each time due to the nature of the instrument, but I always thought I could come up with something better if I could record my part later.

Mr. Iguchi, how did you approach the creative process of this work?

Iguchi: I think I have a really broad range this time. There are elements of myself from when I studied classical music, and the R&B that I’ve been listening to recently, and I also sing like I did on our first album (Tokyo Rendez-Vous). The songs of each of our eras make up a coherent album. Like the others mentioned, Daiki completed his studio and… Temperament-wise, playing in a sandbox by myself fits my personality the best. It occurred to me again that even if there are lots of people in that sandbox, making sand balls without worrying about what they think is what I prefer doing. It was easier for me to express myself, to put playfulness into the work. So there’s a lot that element of playfulness in this album that I couldn’t do in CEREMONY.

That’s so true, and not only the vocals but also the songs themselves are like that. That’s exactly how I feel about “SPECIALZ,” the first song that came out after your CLOSING CEREMONY stadium tour. It’s a pretty aggressive song that doesn’t worry about what people think. It doesn’t have a typical band sound and the beat and groove are weighty. But it turned out to be accepted by the masses as a pop song. I imagine you all must have felt a sense of accomplishment about that.

Tsuneta: You know what, I’m surprisingly calm about such things. I don’t really see myself as being a catchy kind of person fundamentally, so it was just good timing in a lot of ways. [Laughs]

Really?

Seki: Super calm. [Laughs]

Tsuneta: Well, I do think that the four of us have been able to nurture King Gnu into becoming a band can convincingly put out that kind of music.

That’s exactly what I mean. You were able to put out a song like that at that timing, and as the opener for the Shibuya Incident arc of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen.

Tsuneta: You’re right.

And people around the world are listening to “SPECIALZ,” not just in Japan. Billboard Japan launched its new Global Japan Songs Excl. Japan chart in September, and it’s the ranking of Japanese music being listened to outside of Japan obtained by omitting figures of the Japanese market. “SPECIALZ” has been charting in the top 3 ever since the launch of this new list. It’s an interesting phenomenon.

Tsuneta: Sounds like it’ll bring in some money. [Laughs] But it’s amazing. When I went overseas earlier this year from winter through spring to work with artists over there, people really seemed to like my tracks that sounded like this. I got the sense that this type of industrial music with such a beat is compelling and cool to people anywhere, so I figured King Gnu might as well do it since we all think it’s cool. So I’m putting out stuff that’s really close to how I feel about things at the moment, like the things I’m interested in or think are hip right now. I’m in this mode where I feel the need to reflect those sensations more directly and straightforwardly in the band’s music, and that it would be more fun to do so.

In that sense, what I really like about this album is that the middle section comprised of the new tracks “IKAROS,” “W●RKAHOLIC,” and “):Ashura:(” plus “Senryo Yakusha” that’s been greatly changed from the single version, is the solid highlight of the album. The set contains so many tracks previously released as singles, yet the songs that are the most personal and directly express what you want to do musically at the moment are the stars of this album. “):Ashura:(” is just so good.

Tsuneta: It’s a new line, isn’t it? It’s also a form that would never happen if we were recording as a band. It could be King Gnu’s mode from here on.

Arai: In terms of album production, it was really only towards the end of the last four years that we were able to incorporate that flow I mentioned earlier. The last five months or so.

Tsuneta: We considered the existing songs along that flow, too. That’s why we changed the arrangements.

Mr. Tsuneta, you’ve been saying things like you’re going to move your base and change the way you work after next year’s tour. Could you share why you feel that way?

Tsuneta: In the five years since we released our first album, we haven’t taken any breaks and I’ve been feeling it’s not healthy to live according to this workflow. I just think it’s better to review the cycle once. With CEREMONY, I deliberately decided to take that route and focused on selling as much music as possible, but outside of Japan, Beyoncé takes a year to rehearse and performs at Coachella. I mean, there’s no way I could compete with someone at that incredible level who works like that by living according to this current workflow. I think the time has come for us to fundamentally rethink our approach.

So, this isn’t about working in Japan or elsewhere, but about competing on the level of Beyoncé’s Coachella performance since you’re making music.

Tsuneta: I want to be on the same playing field… It doesn’t mean to sing like her or anything like that, but as a creator of art, I want to face (creating art) like her, that way of not being over-consumed. Putting aside whether or not I was able to do so with this album, it’s how I want to live my life.

Actor Jonathan Majors Arrives At Court For Closing Arguments In Domestic Violence Trial

Jonathan Majors was found guilty in New York on Monday (December 18) after weeks of testimony and evidence introduced to the jury. The actor was found guilty of reckless assault and harassment, but two other charges were dropped.

As seen on Deadline, Jonathan Majors, 34, was found guilty by a New York City jury of three women and three men after a couple of days of deliberation. The actor faced a total of four misdemeanor charges and was found not guilty of intentional assault in the third degree, and not guilty of aggravated harassment in the second degree.

Majors will learn his sentence on February 6 of next year. As told by the judge overseeing the matter, Majors is still under a protective order and has to avoid contact with his accuser, Grace Jabbari. Majors entered a not-guilty plea and has maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal that first spilled out into the public view in March of this year.

A statement from Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg can be viewed below:

At the Manhattan D.A.’s Office, we are committed to centering survivors in all of our work. The evidence presented throughout this trial illustrated a cycle of psychological and emotional abuse, and escalating patterns of coercion far too common across the many intimate partner violence cases we see each and every day. Today, a jury determined that pattern of abuse and coercion culminated with Mr. Majors assaulting and harassing his girlfriend. We thank the jury for its service and the survivor for bravely telling her story despite having to relive her trauma on the stand.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, news of the guilty verdict in the domestic violence trial for Jonathan Majors is spreading wide with several varied reactions. We’ve got some of them listed below.

Gosling, who played Ken in the popular film, notched his first Billboard Hot 100 hit with the original version of “I’m Just Ken,” which entered the tally at No. 87 upon its release. While “I’m Just Ken” was Gosling’s first entry on the Hot 100, it was not his first overall chart appearance. He’s charted once before, with “City of Stars” from his 2016 film La La Land. His solo version spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Jazz Digital Song Sales chart, while a version with co-star Emma Stone reached No. 8 on the Hot 100’s Bubbling Under ranking and No. 45 on Digital Song Sales.

“I’m Just Ken” was produced by Ronson alongside co-writer/co-producer Andrew Wyatt and features guitar from Guns N’ Roses star Slash.

Barbie, which grossed more than $1.3 billion worldwide, is nominated for several Golden Globe awards at the upcoming 2024 ceremony in January. The film leads the pack with nine nods, including three of the six nods for best original song, motion picture.

Elliott Wilson Hosts CRWN With Nicki Minaj For WatchLOUD.com

Source: Cindy Ord / Getty

This past weekend OG Hip-Hop journalist Elliott Wilson found himself at the mercy of the Barbz collective after he seemingly shaded Nicki Minaj for appearing on Kai Cenat’s streaming channel.  Though he issued a public apology, it was too late. They hate him now.

Things began when Wilson seemingly took a shot at both Nicki Minaj and Kai Cenat after the former appeared on Cenat’s show with a post of Nicki twerking on the show and a caption that read “Hip Hop journalism.” Fans took the post as Wilson mocking the moment and Kai’s channel.

Nicki wasted no time in responding to Wilson’s alleged shade and took to X to slam him for his post. “Elliott if you’d spit Jay-Z dikk out for a one second, you’d be able to be happy for the new comers. Isn’t that how y’all tried to tarnish my image? By saying I’m not welcoming new btchs in?” Nicki tweeted.

The post was enough to have the Barbz pounce on Wilson to the point that he took down his post and threw up a new one in which he tried to make amends with Nicki saying he never dissed her and “Always said she’s the female rap [GOAT]. Over Lauryn, Missy, Kim and Foxy and all. I think Cardi B is dope too. Happy Holidays.”

Unfortunately, that didn’t save him from the online wrath of the Barbz.

Wilson then went on and praised Kai for getting this far in the streaming lane saying Cenat “deserves respect.”

People are still mad even though Wilson continued to shower Nicki with praise following the release of her latest album, Pink Friday 2.

Nicki meanwhile doesn’t seem to be letting up and continues to take shots at Wilson (whom she referred to as “Idiot” Wilson) and even threw a stray shot at DJ Envy for being involved in his alleged real estate scam after hating on her music.

Nicki’s on one! Y’all don’t know what y’all started. Hopefully Nicki’s husband doesn’t start stalking Elliott Wilson now. Just sayin’.

Peep Nicki address Elliott Wilson below, and let us know if his apologies were enough to quiet the storm in the comments section below.

Madonna Thanks ‘Very Important’ Friend Who ‘Saved My Life’ Amid Health Scare

Madonna opened up about her health scare over the summer that led to the Queen of Pop being induced into a coma for 48 hours in the ICU.

“The fact that I’m here right now is the f—ing miracle,” Madonna told the crowd at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Saturday night (Dec. 16) amid her Celebration tour, as seen in a video shared by a fan to X (formerly known as Twitter). “There’s very people in the room tonight who were with me in the hospital.”

The “Material Girl” superstar went on to thank a “very important woman,” named Shavawn, who “dragged” her to the hospital after she “passed out on my bathroom floor and woke up in the ICU.” Madonna added that Shavawn “saved my life.”

Madonna also shouted out her Kabbalah teacher, Eitan Yardeni, who was also in the audience and stayed by her side throughout her induced coma for two days. “The only voice I heard was his,” she recalled.

“A couple of things I thought about when I first became conscious and saw my six incredible children around me,” she continued, before joking, “By the way, I had to almost die to get all my kids in one room.”

Madonna noted, “And I was thinking, ‘What if I left my children?’ That would destroy me to leave my children at this moment in their lives. I wasn’t thinking about me. I was thinking about them, and I was thinking about my mother and how scared she must have been to know that she was going to leave us all behind.”

“I don’t take any of this s— for granted,” she concluded. Madonna is mom to Lourdes Leon, 26, Rocco Ritchie, 23, David Banda, 18, Chifundo “Mercy” James, 17, and twins Stella and Estere, 11.

In June, Madonna spent several days in the hospital due to a bacterial infection. The hospitalization has forced the star to put her massive, career-spanning Celebration tour on pause, though the rescheduled dates are now underway.

Madonna released her first statement after her hospitalization in July, thanking fans for their positive energy and assuring that she’s feeling better. “I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life,” wrote the singer.

Scarface Gets Praise For Incredible NPR Tiny Desk Concert

Scarface sat down for an incredible Tiny Desk Concert, and it’s getting all the praise. But it should be expected considering the legendary Houston rapper is a legit musical icon with a catalog to match.

You knew things were going to be special when Facemob commented that Backyard, a just as legendary Go-Go band from Washington, DC, would be backing his performance. Face went through some of his catalog’s greatest hits starting with “My Block” and including songs like “Smile,” “I Seen A Man Die,” and, of course, the Geto Boys classic “Minds Playing Tricks On Me.”

NPR also reports that it was during rehearsals Face brought in producer Mike Dean (who performed on the original tracks) to handle the work on the keys. The performance, which also included Face picking up a guitar, was full of passion as he kicked his classic bars while conducting his talented musical accompaniment.

Check out the performance below and some of the more excited reactions in the gallery.
