Nicki Minaj Charts 14 Songs From ‘Pink Friday 2’ on the Hot 100

Nicki Minaj has a big week on Billboard’s charts thanks to the arrival of her new LP, Pink Friday 2.

The set, released Dec. 8 via Young Money/Cash Money/Republic Records, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (dated Dec. 23) with 228,000 equivalent album units earned in its opening week, according to Luminate. It’s the rapper’s third leader, after 2011’s Pink Friday and 2012’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

As the new album opens at No. 1, Minaj also debuts 14 songs from the set on the Billboard Hot 100. Here’s a recap:

The 14 debuts bring Minaj’s total to 147 career Hot 100 entries — the most ever among female rappers. She passes Lil Baby and Kanye West for the sixth-most overall in the chart’s 65-year history, after Drake (up to 328, thanks to his feature on “Needle”), Taylor Swift (232), the Glee cast (207), Lil Wayne (186) and Future (168).

Minaj also lifts her career count to 73 top 40 Hot 100 hits, the fifth-most after Drake (202), Taylor Swift (138), Lil Wayne (88) and Elvis Presley (81).

Thanks to their featured appearances on the album, Tate Kobang and Lourdiz also score their first Hot 100 hits.

As Pink Friday 2 includes prominent samples on nine of its 22 tracks, several former Hot 100 hits are reintroduced to the chart in a new form, including Billie Eilish’s “When the Party’s Over,” a No. 29 hit in 2019, via “Are You Gone Already,” and Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” (No. 2, 1984; “Pink Friday Girls”). Other samples include Notorious B.I.G. and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s “Notorious Thugs” (on “Barbie Dangerous”), Junior Senior’s “Move Your Feet” (on “Everybody”) and Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” (on “My Life”).

Keith Richards Wishes Wife Patti Hansen a Happy 40th Anniversary With Throwback Wedding Photo

Keith Richards and wife Patti Hansen have cracked four decades of marriage together, and to celebrate, the Rolling Stones musician took to Instagram on Monday (Dec. 18) to share a sweet throwback photo from their wedding to commemorate their 40th anniversary.

“For Patricia, Happy 40th Anniversary! I love you. Keith,” Richards captioned the post, which featured a photo of him and Hansen dressed in their wedding attire on the beach and cutting into their cake. Richards adding a black heart emoji to the caption.

The annual anniversary posts are nothing new for the Rolling Stones member. Last year, the rocker — who also turned 80 Monday — shared another throwback wedding photo on their anniversary, with the snap showing him serenading Hansen during their Cabo nuptials with a guitar while she was in her gown.

The pair’s daughter Theodora also participated in the anniversary festivities and made a post that revealed Richards and Hansen recreated their wedding kiss to commemorate their 39th year of marriage.

“A jubilee happened yesterday,” she captioned the photos at the time. “My parents had a party where we celebrated my dad being another year older and that my parents have been married for 39 years (really it’s 43yrs of togetherness but we’ll go off the legitimacy of their 1983 Cabo wedding) I am so proud of this family. We’ve been through a lot but the love is so strong and powerful that it carries us forever forward on a cloud of compassion and courage. I love you mom and dad. You guys are my inspiration. And HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY dear Daddio.”

She’s beautiful in every single way, and today we’re celebrating Christina Aguilera’s 43rd birthday by looking back at some of our favorite career and chart achievements of this “Dirrty” diva — all in this week’s Pop Culture Rewind.

The year was 1999, and Christina Aguilera’s self-titled first album was sprinkled with three Hot 100 No. 1 hits like “What a Girl Wants” and “Come on Over.” She quickly grabbed a fourth chart topper with the iconic 2000s moment that was the remake of “Lady Marmalade.”

Her fan-favorite album Stripped spawned classics like “Dirrty,” “Beautiful” and “Fighter.” By 2006, she was slaying in a Pepsi commercial and released her second No. 1 album Back to Basics. She has continued to entertain us with a musical movie, a stint as a television mentor and several albums we love. Today we say happy birthday to Xtina, and thank her for making us all fighters.

Fantasia Barrino Accuses Airbnb Host of ‘Racial Profiling’ Against Her & Her Kids

Fantasia Barrino is speaking out after an alleged incident at an Airbnb.

The American Idol winner took to X (previously known as Twitter) to share details on what she claims was “racial profiling” at the hands of her Airbnb host. “My stomach is so uneasy this morning as I’m riding back to my home in the cold and rain,” she wrote. “I don’t say much when people do me wrong, but I can’t stay quiet on how my family and I were just treated from a host with @Airbnb @airbnbhelp trying to kick my kids and I out at 12:00 midnight.”

She claimed that the host “accused” Fantasia of having a party “because they saw balloons being dropped off and a game truck with no generator in the early part of the day.” The singer and actress continued, “The amount of guests we reserved for are the amount of guests who stayed the night. They never said we weren’t allowed to have any company over!

Fantasia said that the house was clearly designed for parties, as there was a game room, poker table and even equipment leftover from a previous event. “It’s evident to me this was racial profiling and the treatment we received was due to the color of our skin,” she claimed. “I wanted my son to enjoy his friends and make him feel special as I have been traveling for the last 35+ days promoting a movie I starred in. This time, I dare not stay quiet.”

Author Caught Writing Bad Reviews Of Books By Black People Dropped By Publisher

A first-time author busted for writing bad reviews of books by authors of color on an Amazon-owned site has been dropped by her publisher.

According to reports, sci-fi fantasy author Cait Corrain was found to have left numerous one-star reviews for books by Black authors and other authors of color on Goodreads while giving her upcoming book, Crown of Starlight, excellent ratings.

The “review-bombing” controversy forced her publisher, Del Rey Books, to announce that Corrain’s book won’t be published in 2024.

“We are aware of the ongoing discussion around author Cait Corrain,” Del Rey Books’ post on X, formerly Twitter said last Monday (December 11). “CROWN OF STARLIGHT is no longer on our 2024 publishing schedule.” In a follow-up tweet, the imprint owned by Penguin Random House also stated that they would not publish other books on Corrain’s contract. Corrain’s first-ever novel was slated to be published on May 14, 2024, and had earned positive reviews in advance. Corrain was also dropped by her literary agent, Rebecca Podos, and her press affiliate.

Corrain’s behavior was chronicled by Canadian sci-fi fantasy author Xirin Jay Zhao in a TikTok video, which covered Corrain’s bad reviews targeting Black authors like Bethany Baptiste and other POC authors. They all had books set to be released next year between January and August. Goodreads issued a statement, saying: “Goodreads takes the responsibility of maintaining the authenticity and integrity of ratings and protecting our community of readers and authors very seriously. We have clear reviews and community guidelines, and we remove reviews and/or accounts that violate these guidelines.”

Corrain acknowledged her behavior in a letter posted on X, writing that her actions were due to depression and substance abuse. “Let me be extremely clear: while I might not have been sober or of sound mind during this time, I accept responsibility for the pain and suffering I caused,” she wrote, stating that before posting the letter she was “going through withdrawal as I sobered up enough to be brutally honest with you and myself.”

Authors impacted by Corrain’s bad reviews on the Amazon-owned site weren’t too pleased with her non-apology. Baptiste, who had called attention to Corrain’s actions before the controversy broke open, wrote in a post on X afterward:  “So, many layers to Cait Corrain’s lies. And yet when I told my truth in a 62-tweet thread, I was called a liar and accused of doubling down.”

After a relatively quiet few months, Kanye West made noise on social media this past weekend for once again ranting against, well, everyone. This time he went after Nicki Minaj for not clearing an old verse she laid down for the controversial rapper.

TMZ is reporting that the Barb angered Ye after informing him that she wouldn’t be letting him use her verse for “New Body,” and that alone was enough for Ye to include Nicki in his rant this past weekend. Telling everyone in attendance for his Vultures listening party that he had Nicki rewrite her classic verse for “Monster” three times. Ye said he “supported her career” and didn’t know why she wouldn’t clear the song.

TMZ reports:

He joked Nicki’s stonewalling would delay the album altogether — which apparently wasn’t that funny to Ty Dolla $ign, but it doesn’t seem like Nicki is playing ball.

Nicki told her fans on IG Live last night “New Body” was old news and her main focus is promoting “Pink Friday 2” … she doesn’t want to compete with herself!!!

The verse is five years old, and Nicki really does seem unbothered by the situation when she touched on the topic during her IG Live.

The ongoing saga between Keke Palmer and her baby daddy, Darius Jackson, has taken an interesting turn.

Palmer and her ex-boyfriend are currently engaged in a messy custody battle over their son Leodis Andrellton, with the actress/singer asking for full custody of Leodis and a temporary restraining order against her former flame.

The NOPE star claims Jackson was physically and verbally abusive towards her, and now Jackson is making the same claims in a counterclaim filed on Friday morning with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the Los Angeles Times reports via Complex.

Per Complex:

In the complaint, Jackson claimed that Palmer, 30, “repeatedly engaged in abusive conduct” and “acted as the primary aggressor” during their two-year relationship.

Several incidents are cited in the counterclaim between Aug. 20, 2021 to March 12, 2023, where Jackson claimed that Palmer “was verbally and physically abusive” and “frequently became agitated and aggressive after consuming alcohol.”

The former athlete alleged that the actress “punched [him] in the face” at a birthday party in August 2021, “punched the windshield of [his] car” while he was driving in January 2022, and “physically attacked [him] by choking and hitting [him]” at her Los Angeles residence on Feb. 28, 2022. 

Jackson also alleged in the filing that on March 12 of this year, Palmer had been drinking and called him multiple expletives after blaming him for a clogged shower drain. “I tried to de-escalate the situation and she became more enraged,” said Jackson in the counterclaim. 

Palmer did get a temporary restraining order against her son’s father, while Jackson denied all of the abuse claims levied against him.

Keke’s momma got in the mix by adding to the drama after threatening to shoot Jackson for entering her daughter’s home, allegedly.

This situation is a giant, public mess that we hope the two can figure out amicably for the sake of their son.

Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ Scores Record-Breaking 16th Week at No. 1 on Billboard Global 200 Chart

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” adds a record-breaking 16th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart (dated Dec. 16).

The modern holiday classic also tops the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart for an 11th frame.

Plus, Sia’s “Snowman” reaches the Global Excl. U.S. top five for the first time, rising to No. 5.

The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, which began in September 2020, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the United States.

Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.

The song, originally released in 1994, has now spent a record-breaking 16 weeks at No. 1, following four weeks in both the 2020 and 2021 holiday seasons and five frames over last year’s holidays. It surpasses the 15-week command of Harry Styles’ “As It Was” in 2022.

Wham!’s “Last Christmas” holds at its No. 2 high on the Global 200; Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” keeps at No. 3, after reaching No. 2 last holiday season; Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” again rings in at No. 4, its best rank; and Tate McRae’s “Greedy” rebounds 9-5, following two weeks at No. 1 beginning in November.

The song tallies an 11th total week at No. 1, following one in the 2020 holiday season, three weeks the next year and four last season.

Wham!’s “Last Christmas” repeats at its No. 2 Global Excl. U.S. high; Tate McRae’s “Greedy” rebounds 4-3, three weeks after it hit No. 1; and Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” dips to No. 4 from its No. 3 best.

Rounding out the Global Excl. U.S. top five, Sia’s “Snowman” makes a festive 8-5 flight, marking its, and Sia’s, first week in the region. The song, from 2017, with its profile boosted by TikTok, drew 34 million streams (up 2%) and sold 2,000 (up 18%) outside the U.S. Dec. 8-14.
