Don Omar, Silvestre Dangond & More: Which Is Your Favorite New Latin Music Release? Vote!

This week, our New Music Latin roundup — a compilation of the best new Latin songs, albums and videos recommended by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — is powered by new music from Don Omar — in collaboration with Luny Tunes and Wisin y Yandel — Silvestre Dangond and Sofía Reyes, who both released new albums, respectively.

Marking a reunion between Don Omar, Wisin y Yandel and producer duo Luny Tunes, “Sandunga” is a preview of what fans can expect from Don Omar’s upcoming EP, titled Don Omar Presenta: Back to Reggaeton. Taking Don Omar back to his old-school reggaeton roots, the song successfully blends the singer’s adrenaline-fueled formula, resulting in an explosive sound that preserves the essence of música urbana.

Colombian vallenato star Silvestre Dangond has unleashed ‘Ta Malo, which includes tracks by 13 composers, a true nod to the notion that vallenato is a troubadour genre where the singer tells stories of the people. Meanwhile, Mexican singer-songwriter Sofía Reyes embraces growth and lessons-learned in MILAMORES, her third studio album which includes collaborations with El Gran Silencia, Ingratax, Gera MX, and more.

Other new releases include Esteman’s bachata track “PORNOSTALGIA,” Arthur Hanlon’s EP Legados Pop, Juan Luis Guerra’s Radio Güira and Espectro Caudillo hard-hitting new set, La Liturgia del Tigre Blanco.

Jason Kelce & Philadelphia Eagles Teammates Put Their Spin on ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’

The Philadelphia Eagles are getting into the holiday spirit!

The NFL team’s Jason Kelce, Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson teamed up this year for their second festive album, A Philly Special Christmas Special, which features a freshly dropped rendition of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

The album is out December 1, and features collaborations with Patti LaBelle and Jason’s brother, Travis Kelce, who has been making headlines in recent months due to his blossoming rumored relationship with Taylor Swift. In a new episode of the Kelce brothers’ New Heights podcast, Travis revealed that he lent his voice to a duet with Jason for the album, but he hasn’t listened to the final version yet. “Dude I do not want to hear myself sing like that. I’ve got more of the rock voice,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end admitted.

The 1994 hit has long been a Christmas staple, but “All I Want for Christmas” never hit No. 1 until 2019 and has since ranked as the most popular holiday song of all time on the Billboard Holiday 100. Carey is slated to hit the road for her 13-date Merry Christmas One and All! tour on Nov. 15 in Highland, CA and ride her sleigh across North American until a Dec. 17 gig at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Pop Evil Tops Mainstream Rock Airplay Chart With ‘Skeletons’

Pop Evil notches its eighth No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with “Skeletons,” which rises to the top of the Nov. 11-dated list.

The song is the band’s first leader since “Survivor,” which ruled for two weeks in October 2021. In between, Pop Evil notched a pair of top five hits: “Eye of the Storm” (No. 2, September 2022) and “Paranoid (Crash & Burn)” (No. 5, April 2023).

Pop Evil first reigned on Mainstream Rock Airplay with “Trenches” for four weeks beginning in July 2013. The band is tied with Papa Roach for the seventh-most No. 1s since the start of the 2010s; Five Finger Death Punch and Shinedown lead all acts with 14 each in that span.

Concurrently, “Skeletons” lifts 15-13 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart thanks to 2.2 million audience impressions, up 11% Oct. 27-Nov. 2, according to Luminate. It’s Pop Evil’s highest charting song on the list since “Survivor,” which peaked at No. 11; its all-time best and lone top 10, “Trenches,” reached No. 9.

On the most recently published multimetric Hot Hard Rock Songs chart (dated Nov. 4), “Skeletons” re-entered at No. 24. In addition to its radio airplay, the song earned 170,000 official U.S. streams Oct. 20-26.

“Skeletons” is the title track and third single from Pop Evil’s seventh studio album, following “Eye of the Storm” and “Paranoid (Crash & Burn).” The LP debuted at No. 36 on the Top Album Sales ranking in April and has earned 29,000 equivalent album units to date.

All Billboard charts dated Nov. 11 will update on Billboard.com on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Sofía Reyes, MILAMORES (Warner Music Latina)

From Mal de Amores (bad heartbreaks) to Milamores (a thousand loves), Sofia Reyes embraces her growth and life lessons on her third studio album. Home to 14 tracks, the set kicks off with the 20-second “Florecer,” where, over the sound of birds chirping in a garden, Reyes says: “Joy where are you? Come help me wake up. Heal me with your song, heal me with your joy.”

The first official song is “La Batidora,” in collaboration with El Gran Silencio, where they lace Mexican cumbia sonidera with the Monterrey band’s fiery rap verses. “I put the bad vibes in a blender, pure happiness is trending now,” Reyes chants. On “Delirio,” a dreamy indie-pop track backed by synth melodies, Reyes takes listeners to a galaxy far away to remind us that we are bright as a star. Along those lines, MILAMORES is a feel-good album packed with inspirational lyrics about self-love and enjoying the simplicity of life.

Musically, the album delivers all sorts of rhythms meshed with Reyes’ pop essence: “Cobarde” is a romantic bachata featuring Beéle; “Altitud” is a futuristic reggaeton track with Ingratax; the title track is a heartfelt mariachi-meets-hip-hop song with Gera MX; “Gaia” is a chill reggae song featuring Delian; and “Noche de Sirenas” is a hard-hitting perreo, in collab with Mariah Angeliq. Other collaborators on the set include Danna Paola and Caloncho. MILAMORES follows Reyes’ albums Louder (2017) and Mal de Amores (2022). — JESSICA ROIZ

Juan Luis Guerra y 4.40, Radio Güira (Rimas Entertainment)

Juan Luis Guerra y 4.40 light up the party this week with Radio Güira, an EP of six songs presented, as its title indicates, in radio station style. “You are listening to Radio Güira, 4.40 FM,” Guerra narrates over a techno-beat at the beginning of “Mambo 23,” the first single and opener. “This EP has a different concept. Our purpose was to do something innovative,” Guerra explained in a press release. “We imagine a radio station playing 4.40 music in different parts of the world. We include calls, recipes, and IDs and the genres of mambo, bachata, and merengue. This was our dream for many months, and today we make it known!”

With six songs written and produced by the Dominican maestro, it is impossible not to move and smile to the rhythm of mambo, bachata (“DJ Bachata”), merengue (“La Noviecita” and “Como Me Enamora”), pambiche blues (“Te Invito a un Blues”) and even pop reggaeton (“Cositas de Amor”), all with elegant touches of genres such as jazz and rock, and the sweet, poetic lyrics for which the artist is known. It is, in short, a work that overflows with joy, humor and love. — SIGAL RATNER-ARIAS

Don Omar, Wisin & Yandel, “SANDUNGA” (Sugar Cream Music)

“Dale, dale, Don dale.” Don Omar is back with an irresistible reggaeton, which is a reunion of sorts: After over a decade, “SANDUNGA” brings together Don Omar with Wisin y Yandel and OG production duo Luny Tunes. Taking Don Omar back to his old-school reggaeton roots, reminiscent of the early 2000s, the song successfully blends the adrenaline-fueled formula that is rooted in reggaeton, resulting in an explosive sound that preserves the essence of música urbana. As for the meaning of the word, “sandunga” can mean many things, including describing someone’s spark or charisma. The historic reunion is part of the upcoming Don Omar Presenta: Back to Reggaeton EP. The song drops along with an epic four-minute music video, visually reflecting the track’s underworld vibe, which was shot in Miami and directed by Carlos Perez from Elastic People. — INGRID FAJARDO

Arthur Hanlon, Legados Pop (Sony Music Latin)

An American pianist with a Latin heart, Arthur Hanlon presents the second volume of his Legados album series, which began with Legados Bachata and, on this occasion, pays an emotional tribute to pop classics from the 2000s. Composed of six songs, Legados Pop includes a notable collaboration with emerging Mexican-American artist Mariangela (of the popular trio Camila) on the single “Todo Cambió.” The beautiful collaboration transports you to a golden era, both in the blues-tinged musical arrangements and in the accompanying video, that evokes those classic romantic scenes from the movies of yesteryear.

The EP also includes five instrumental pieces, where the piano’s versatility is the protagonist. Among them, “Noviembre Sin Ti” from Reik is cleverly fused with a piece of the melody from “Christmas Canon” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It also includes gems such as “Un Siglo Sin Ti” from Chayanne, “Mientes Tan Bien” from Sin Bandera, a bossa nova version of “Corazón Partío” by Alejandro Sanz with backing vocals in Portuguese, and “Vente Pa’ Ca” by Ricky Martin. Legados Pop includes classic songs that have conquered the hearts of a generation, with soft choruses to accompany you on that nostalgic journey. Hanlon will be on tour in early 2024 with Un Viaje Mágico De Piano: Arthur Hanlon and Friends. Presented by Loud and Live in collaboration with SBS, the tour will visit cities such as Miami, New York and Los Angeles. — LUISA CALLE

Silvestre Dangond, ‘Ta Malo (Sony Music Latin)

After dabbling with pop and tropical music, Silvestre Dangond returns firmly to his vallenato roots with an album that has contemporary edges, but is still traditional vallenato in its musical arrangements (and more importantly in its spirit). ‘Ta Malo includes tracks by 13 composers, a true nod to the notion that vallenato is a troubadour genre where the singer tells stories of the people. Among the writers is Dangond himself, who lends his personal life and love story to “La Vallenata.” Indeed, many tracks in ‘Ta Malo are romantic, but ultimately this is an album to party to, as highlighted by focus track “Bacano,” a feel-good romp. While Dangond’s music is impeccably executed, this is a celebration of vallenato as music to cry, drink and dance to. — LEILA COBO

Esteman, “PORNOSTALGIA” (Universal Music Group México)

The play-on-words title of Esteman’s new song is intriguing enough to want to listen to it, yet the Colombian singer-songwriter manages to stay away from the raunchiness and place all bets on his usual romantic style, as he sings about the chemistry and passion between two people that keeps them coming back for more. “PORNOSTALGIA” is a delicate yet captivating bachata, which allows Esteman to step out of his electro-pop comfort zone his fans are now accustomed to hearing. “This song talks about a forbidden love that breaks with traditions and what is established, where desire, eroticism and nostalgia are present all the time,” he said about the track in a statement. — GRISELDA FLORES

Espectro Caudillo, La Liturgia del Tigre Blanco (Nacional Records)

In a climate where prominent Latin artists such as Peso Pluma and Fuerza Regida have been forced to cancel their Tijuana performances in response to menacing narco-banner threats, and where the grim specter of violence continues to cast a shadow over the nation, La Liturgia del Tigre Blanco emerges as a work of ever-increasing significance. This concept album by Tijuana/San Diego-bred producer Espectro Caudillo speaks to the pressing issues facing not only the music industry but also the freedom of journalists in Mexico. Fusing traditional northern Mexican sounds like brass-blaring banda and cumbia with dark electronica, Caudillo (real name: Reuben Torres) encapsulates the essence of the border city’s hybrid electronic styles, like Nortec and Ruidosón — the latter of which he helped pioneer as one-third of Los Macuanos in the early 2010s.

La Liturgia takes its creative spark from Daniel Salinas Basave’s 2013 book of the same name, which delves into the captivating narrative of Jorge Hank Rhon, a former Tijuana mayor with an enduring influence on the region. The 16 songs pay homage to a wide spectrum of events, spanning from the hedonism surrounding Rhon’s immersion into Tijuana’s social scene in the mid-1980s (“La Siniestra Extravagancia”) to the drug cartel conflicts and the murder of a journalist Hector “El Gato” Felix in 1988 (“04’20″88”) that still lingers as a haunting presence in Tijuana even now.

Then there’s “El Temible Grupo Jaguar”, with a music video that depicts a lone aspiring hitman in his apartment that undergoes a transformation from an ordinary man into an Aztec warrior jaguar. In an era where Latin artists grapple with threats and violence, Cadullo’s La Liturgia stands as a profound musical testament, blending traditional Mexican sounds with electronica to encapsulate the rich, often complex tapestry of Tijuana’s history. — ISABELA RAYGOZA

Taylor Swift Declared Buenos Aires Guest of Honor Ahead of Eras Tour Stop

The “Anti-Hero” singer was declared a guest of honor by local legislatives following an approved declaration bill filed by legislator Roy Cortina, according to Buenos Aires Herald. In his bill, Cortina cited Swift as a positive influence on the Argentine audience and noted the economic benefits of her Eras tour entering the city. With 220,000 tickets sold, the bill noted that the sold-out shows “will have an impact on jobs and tourism all over Buenos Aires City.”

Swift’s Latin American leg of her wildly popular Eras Tour kicked off back in August with four shows in Mexico City. Following her stint in Buenos Aires, Swift will head over to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Nov. 18 and 19 before wrapping up in São Paulo, Brazil, on Nov. 24, 25 and 26.

Sabrina Carpenter is the opener for the Latin American tour dates, and recently told Billboard that she was speechless after finding out that she’d be touring with Swift, “That is one of my main inspirations ever since I was a little girl, and now to just be able to watch that show every night is going to be so special,” she shared.

Carpenter continued, “It’s so funny, I’ve been growing up with her advice in her songs because it’s very much a how-to book on how to survive as a young woman, which is really special. Watching her in and of itself is how you learn. I admire her work ethic and her talent and she’s just so amazing.”

Joy (Anonymous), “JOY (Up The Street)”

The Label: Astralwerks

The Spiel: Joy (Anonymous) emerged out of London in the wake of the pandemic with a brightly energetic hybrid of electronic music that’s as emotive as it is effective in getting crowds moving. (And if that sounds like someone else you know, bear in mind that the duo is friends and collaborators with fellow parenthesis enthusiast Fred again..) The sophomore Joy (Anonymous) album, Cult Classics, demonstrates the pair’s efficacy with music that’s tightly produced, extremely warm and as deep as it is playful. Made over the last year, the album’s foundations were forged at Imogen Heap’s house in east London, where the guys — Henry Counsell and Louis Curran — invited a fleet of collaborators over, with the fun and humanity of those sessions evident throughout the no-skips LP.

The Artists Say: “This has been a journey sonically and emotionally over the last two years,” the pair wrote on Instagram. “you are the reason this record got finished, it was your reactions and feedback in the Joy meetings that made realize it was done, so thank you! this is just another journal entry in our tide based journey so keep an eye on it for more things to come.”

deadmau5, “Ghosts ‘N’ Stuff” (Jauz Remix)

The Label: mau5trap

The Spiel: In the 14 years since its release, deadmau5 and Rob Swire’s “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” has become an all-time classic, a simultaneously of-the-era and totally timeless song that some producers have cited as the reason they started making electronic music. A remix thus seems like an impossible and/or superfluous task, but Jauz’s new edit (only the third official remix in the track’s history) demonstrates an inventive freshness, with the Bay Area producer keeping the bones of the original — including the entirety of Swire’s call-to-arms vocals — but paring down portions, extending segments and adding a kind of wavy mechanical touch that altogether really works. The track drops ahead of deadmau5’s headlining shows this weekend at Red Rocks Amphitheater, with Jauz, Good Times Ahead and Volaris on support act duties.

The Artist Says: “Making a remix for a song as revered and respected as ‘Ghosts n’ Stuff’ is honestly almost an impossible task,” says Jauz. “It was intimidating and humbling, to say the least. But it was also a great exercise to remind myself how to stop putting pressure and expectation on myself, and just make whatever comes out naturally. I made eight different versions of this remix and this is the only one that really felt like ‘me.’ Thanks to Joel and the team for letting me remix one of the greatest electronic records of all time.  It was an honor and such a cool experience”

Tiga, Hudson Mohawke & Jesse Boykins III, “Silence of Love”

The Label: Love Minus Communications

The Spiel: Tiga and Hudson Mohawke continue their LMZ project with “Silence of Love,” on which vocalist Jesse Boykins III uses his almost painfully gorgeous voice to repeatedly request, “Won’t you meet me in the quiet?,” over a track that builds to an immersive lushness that’s anything but.

The Artist Says: “It’s a song,” Tiga writes, “about finding the essence of life in the quiet space that only love can provide.”

PEEKABOO, Eyes Wide Open

The Label: Peekaboo Music/Create Music Group

The Spiel: PEEKABOO’s debut album came hot out of the gate, with its lead single “Badders” (featuring Skrillex, Flowdan and G-Rex) racking up seven million streams in the two months since its release. That track was just a preview of the heaviness the Detroit producer serves throughout his debut album Eyes Wide Open, a 13-track collection of thick, sometimes spooky and thoroughly tough-as-nails productions, with collaborators including Zeds Dead, Grabbitz and LYNY.

The Artist Says: “Thank you all so much for supporting me on this journey so far,” the producer writes. “The last 5 years have been the craziest of my life and I’m so grateful to everyone in this community.”

Nicole Moudaber & The London Community Choir, “Rise Up”

The Label: Nothing Else Matters

The Spiel: We all have those tracks that make us scream “I love this song!” when they come on in the club. For Nicole Moudaber, one of those song’s is Soul Providers’ 2001 single “Rise,” which the techno producer and the London Community Gospel Choir put their own mega-joyful spin on with today’s “Rise Up.” The track is more of a house production than Moudaber’s usual techno output, but the way she pairs the wall of synth with the choir’s exclamations to keep rising conjures a certain dark club toughness that will get dancers reaching for the light.

The Artist Says: “This single has always resonated with me on a deeply personal level, but it is also so relatable on a universal level – considering all that is happening in the world right now,” says Moudaber. “The message ‘Rise, Rise Up, Dust off and do it again’ is such a powerful message: together we can come together and rise up to the next level. We recorded with eight members of the London Community Gospel Choir and let me tell I had goosebumps! I think we made a little piece of magic that day. I am so happy you guys can all finally hear it”

The song lifts from No. 2 to No. 1 with 9 million audience impressions, up 11%, in the Oct. 27-Nov. 2 tracking week, according to Luminate.

The song follows the group’s “Edging,” a 17-week leader on the list beginning nearly a year ago.

Concurrently, “One More Time” rules the Alternative Airplay survey for a fourth week. It also rises 5-4 on Mainstream Rock Airplay, marking Blink-182’s second-highest-charting entry, after “Edging” reached at No. 2 in January.

“One More Time” is also bubbling under Adult Alternative Airplay; should it chart, it would become the band’s first appearance there.

The song has crossed over to non-rock radio formats, too. It rises 32-29 on Adult Pop Airplay, having become the band’s first title to make the tally since “I Miss You,” which peaked at No. 24 in 2004.

On the most recently published multi-metric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart (dated Nov. 4), reflecting activity Oct. 20-26, “One More Time” ranked at No. 10. In addition to its radio airplay, the song earned 3.8 million official U.S. streams and sold 2,000 downloads in that span.

The song is the second single from Blink-182’s LP One More Time…, the trio’s ninth studio album and first since the return of guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge. The set debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated Nov. 4 with 125,000 equivalent album units earned.

All Billboard charts dated Nov. 11 will update on Billboard.com on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

The Beatles’ 50 Top Songs on the Billboard Hot 100

On the Billboard Hot 100 dated Jan. 18, 1964, Steve & Eydie, the duo of Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gormé, and The Beach Boys made room for a new act in between them. The former rose from No. 52 to No. 44 with their track “I Can’t Stop Talking About You” and the latter fell 38-46 with “Be True to Your School.”

At No. 45? “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” its debut marking the first Hot 100 hit for The Beatles. The single by the quartet — George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr — would quickly become the group’s first No. 1, beginning a seven-week stay atop the chart dated Feb. 1, 1964.

Just over six years later, The Beatles had racked up a record total 20 Hot 100 No. 1s. With 71 entries, including 34 top 10s, the most among groups, through the chart dated Nov. 4, 2023, the Fab Four’s impact on the Hot 100 has been so huge that the band reigns as the top-performing act in the survey’s history.

Meanwhile, over 59 years since their debut, The Beatles have released what’s billed as their last single together, “Now and Then.” The song, which premiered in full Nov. 2, 2023, completes what Lennon began as a demo tape, Harrison, McCartney and Starr worked on in the mid-1990s, and McCartney and Starr, with the aid of new technology, turned into the latest intriguing chapter in Beatlemania.

Viola Davis Busts a Move to Beyoncé’s ‘Break My Soul’ on ‘Hunger Games’ Set in Full Costume: Watch

After attending Beyoncé’s historic Renaissance World Tour earlier this year, is it any surprise that Viola Davis was jamming along to the music icon’s Billboard 200-topping dance record while filming The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes?

In a Thursday (Nov. 2) behind-the-scenes TikTok posted to the official Lionsgate account, the Academy Award winner releases her wiggle while listening to Queen Bey’s “Break My Soul” in full costume and makeup.

As wardrobe team members are adjusting her hair and makeup, the How to Get Away With Murder Actress wiggles her shoulders in time to the pre-chorus and chorus of Beyoncé’s Grammy-winning hit, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first of two Hot 100 top 10 hits from Renaissance. In the clip, Davis is in full glam as Dr. Volumnia Gaul, the head gamemaker of the 10th Hunger Games in The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

Davis has frequently expressed her love for Beyoncé, and at the top of this year, both entertainers made history with their respective Grammy victories. With four wins for her Renaissance album, Beyoncé officially became the most-awarded act in Grammy history. As for Davis, her best spoken word album victory helped her become just the third Black woman in history to achieve EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) status.

The new Hunger Games prequel is set to hit theaters on Nov. 17, just under two weeks before the earliest public screenings of Beyoncé’s highly anticipated Renaissance documentary concert film (Nov. 30). Just as the initial four Hunger Games filmed gifted audiences memorable musical moments such as Taylor Swit & The Civil Wars‘ “Safe & Sound” and Lorde’s “Yellow Flicker Beat,” The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes will arrive with a Rachel Zegler-led soundtrack.

Zegler’s Lucy Gray Baird is the film’s female lead, and she will sing eight songs on the soundtrack — including her haunting cover of Jennifer Lawrence’s “The Hanging Tree” — with additional contributions from Sierra Ferrell, Molly Tuttle and Olivia Rodrigo. “Can’t Catch Me Now,” Rodrigo’s new original song for the film, arrived on streaming platforms on Friday (Nov. 3).
