Lil Wayne is a living legend, and he was feeling the love from the raucous Kansas crowd. Weezy headlined Travis Kelce’s Kelce Jam 2024 presented by Jim Beam on Saturday night (May 18) about a half-hour outside Kansas City across the Missouri state line.

Thousands filled the outdoor Azura Amphitheater on a sweltering day donning unique outfits celebrating their beloved Kansas City Chiefs as well as themed-fits surrounding the superstar tight end and his music icon girlfriend Taylor Swift, who was across the globe performing in Stockholm, Sweden, on her Eras Tour.

The New Orleans rap deity followed sets from 2 Chainz and Diplo while the crowd anxiously awaited the main attraction when Wayne popped out just shy of midnight CT to 2008’s Jay-Z-assisted “Mr. Carter,” bringing all of the fans to their feet.

As only Weezy could, he casually hit the stage smoking a blunt while rocking a Gucci hat, a black long-sleeve with baggy Gucci shorts and combat boots. “Trav, you brought ’em out tonight. One time for my motherf—-g n—a Travie, man,” Wayne said while taken aback by the staggering numbers in the audience, which seemed to be more than he anticipated. “God I didn’t even see ’em. Up top, make some f—–g noise, damn!”

The energy was taken to another level when Weezy brought out his Welcome 2 ColleGrove running mate and frequent collaborator 2 Chainz.

After running through “Rich As F–k,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end even joined the performance of “Duffle Bag Boy.” Kelce fittingly brought a Louis Vuitton duffle bag with him, but inside was the Vince Lombardi Trophy, which Chainz briefly rented from the three-time Super Bowl champ.

Earlier in the day, Kelce exclusively revealed to Billboard that “Duffle Bag Boy” was one of his all-time favorite songs and remains a pre-game playlist staple for him to this day before hitting the field.

“I’m a huge mixtape era guy,” Kelce says. “Wayne has been one of my favorites since high school, since the early 2000s. Since 2 Chainz is here, ‘Duffle Bag Boy’ is one of my favorite songs of all-time. I have it on my game day playlist and everything.”

Playaz Circle’s “Duffle Bag Boy” arrived in 2007 and reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Outside of the Tity Boi cameo, Lil Wayne kept the setlist similar to his Welcome to Tha Carter Tour from last year, which included fan-favorites like “Hustler Musik,” “I’m Goin In,” “Lollipop,” “Let the Beat Build,” “Blunt Blowin,” “Fireman,” “Mrs. Officer,” “We Be Steady Mobbin’” and “The Motto” before wrapping up with “A Milli.”

Weezy enjoyed himself so much throughout the hour-long set that he hopes to be performing at Kelce Jam 2025, if Travis will have him. “Trav, I don’t know if you do this every year. But make sure I’m on the list every f—–g year,” he pleaded with the Chiefs star.

As one fan bluntly put it while leaving the venue as Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” serenaded those left, “That was f—–g awesome.”

Anitta’s Baile Funk Experience Tour Setlist: Here’s Every Song From Her Kick-Off Show

Brazilian superstar Anitta kicked off her Baile Funk Experience, a world tour that includes her first concert series in North America, this Saturday (May 18) in Mexico City.

The start of the trek took place during the third edition of the Tecate Emblema festival, held Friday and Saturday at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the F1 venue in Mexico, where the artist was part of a stellar lineup that on its second day included Christina Aguilera, Nelly Furtado, Calvin Harris, Nicki Nicole, Miranda!, Aitana, Inna and Empress Of.

The show began with traditional Brazilian songs including Maria Bethânia’s “Carta de Amor,” while a group of dancers performed capoeira moves in honor of Afro-Brazilian culture. With this, they anticipated what Anitta was preparing for the audience: a total explosion of wild funk.

Produced by Live Nation, Baile Funk Experience includes stops in Latin America, the U.S. and Europe. The 20-date tour is in support of Funk Generation, the latest album from the trilingual singer, which highlights the Brazilian funk that has influenced her career.

Her next show is on May 12 in Los Angeles. She will also be visiting Miami Beach and Orlando, Florida, as well as Boston, Toronto, Chicago and New York before heading to Latin American countries including Colombia, Peru, Chile and Argentina. Stops in Europe include Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Madrid and more. For a full list of dates, click here.

Taylor Swift Debuts ‘Guilty as Sin?’ Live on Guitar in Stockholm: ‘One of My Favorite Songs’ From ‘Tortured Poets’

Taylor Swift induced some Tortured Poets-level hysteria when she performed “Guilty as Sin?” live for the first time at her Eras Tour stop in Stockholm, Sweden, on Saturday (May 18).

Swift, who brought her Eras spectacular to Stockholm’s Friends Arena for a trio of dates this weekend, complimented Saturday’s “absolutely wild” crowd at the start of the show’s acoustic section, during which she performs surprise songs on each tour date.

“You just fuel us the entire night,” Swift said of the crowd’s energy.

Trending on Billboard

“It makes me want to play one of my favorite songs from Tortured Poets that I’ve never played live before,” she teased. Swift gave her guitar a few strums leading up to an opening line that’s become instantly familiar to fans in the few weeks since she released her latest album: “Drowning in the Blue Nile/ He sent me ‘Downtown Lights’/ I hadn’t heard it in a while.”

The Friends Arena audience screamed. People on the internet shared the same sentiment, but through memes of Post Malone dancing to “Guilty as Sin?” and dry remarks about the tragedy of not being in the room with Swift for the track’s live debut.

“What if he’s written ‘mine’ on my upper thigh/ Only in my mind?” Swift sings on the track from The Tortured Poets Department. “One slip and falling back into the hedge maze/ Oh, what a way to die/ I keep recalling things we never did/ Messy top lip kiss/ How I long for our trysts/ Without ever touching his skin/ How can I be guilty as sin?”

“the way she sang guilty as sin as the first surprise song at her 89th show and opened with the lines ‘he sent me downtown lights’ which was released in 1989,” one fan pointed out on X, formerly Twitter, referring to the band The Blue Nile and Swift’s reference to their song “Downtown Lights.” (Saturday night marked the 89th Eras Tour date since the trek launched in March 2023).

“i’m taking the loss of Guilty As Sin really well,” another remarked, sharing evidence (via screenshots) of blocking both IKEA and ABBA’s accounts in response Sweden’s surprise song win.

“Guilty as Sin?” — which was followed by a 1989 piano medley of “Say Don’t Go,” “Welcome to New York” and “Clean” — continued to trend on X in the hours following Swift’s performance. See a clip of the full song played live below, plus fan reactions to missing out on “Guilty as Sin?” live.

As the icing on the cake at the fest, British star Sam Smith celebrated ahead of their upcoming birthday.

The Italo-Mexican singer-songwriter captivated both locals and strangers with her indie pop set.

Also highly anticipated was the return of Christina Aguilera and Nelly Furtado to the Latin American country, as well as performances by DJ Calvin Harris, Miranda!, Nicki Nicole, Aitana, Lali and Empress Of.

Zac Brown ‘Took the Steps Necessary’ to Protect Family With Kelly Yazdi Lawsuit, Singer Says

Zac Brown has released a statement regarding a lawsuit filed against estranged wife Kelly Yazdi. On Saturday (May 18), Billboard obtained a response from the Zac Brown Band frontman’s representative, which can be read in full below.

“After much deliberation, I took the steps necessary to enforce an agreement between us to maintain personal and business affairs in confidence and to protect my family from online harassment and speculation,” Brown says in his statement to Billboard. “My only hope is for us to keep private matters private and to move forward with the mutual respect we had agreed to show one another when we parted ways.”

Reports that the country star filed a lawsuit against Yazdi circulated on Friday, when TMZ obtained court documents that alleged an Instagram post on Yazdi’s feed violated a confidentiality agreement she signed with Brown. The publication reported the singer requested a temporary restraining order that would force Yadzi to remove the post.

The post of Yadzi’s that led to the lawsuit being filed had not been identified at press time.

Brown and Yazdi’s divorce was announced in late December, four months after the couple married. Their wedding marked Brown’s second marriage; the singer shares five children with his former wife Shelly Brown.

“We are in the process of divorce,” Brown and Yazdi said in a Dec. 29 statement. “Our mutual respect for one another remains. We wish each other the best and will always appreciate our time together. As we navigate this personal matter, we simply request privacy during this time.”

Brown has charted 35 songs with the Zac Brown Band on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart, including 17 top 10s and eight No. 1s, beginning with their 2008 breakthrough hit “Chicken Fried.”

No singles preceded the project, with Eilish telling fans from the moment she announced it, “i wanna give it to you all at once.”

“This whole process has felt like I’m coming back to the girl that I was,” Eilish told Rolling Stone in April. “I’ve been grieving her. I’ve been looking for her in everything, and it’s almost like she got drowned by the world and the media. I don’t remember when she went away.”

Earlier this week, Lamar’s Mustard-produced “Not Like Us” — one of his numerous diss tracks aimed at Drake in recent weeks — debuted atop the Hot 100, giving the Compton rapper his fourth No. 1 on the chart. The song also earned Mustard his first Hot 100 chart-topper as a producer.

L.A. District Attorney Explains Why Diddy Can’t Be Prosecuted Over Cassie Ventura Hotel Video

Sean “Diddy” Combs won’t be prosecuted over a 2016 video that appears to show him assaulting then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hotel, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

“We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch,” the office of L.A. District Attorney George Gascón wrote in a statement on Instagram Friday (May 17). “If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge as the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.”

In the video, obtained by CNN and dated March 5, 2016, Combs appears to shove Ventura to the ground near an elevator bank, kick her several times while she lies on the ground and drag her down a hallway.

Trending on Billboard

The statement added that law enforcement has not presented the L.A. County DA’s office with “a case related to the attack depicted in the video against Mr. Combs, but we encourage anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement or reach out to our office for support from our Bureau of Victims Services.”

The contents of the video mirror an assault allegation Ventura made in a now-settled lawsuit she filed against Diddy in November, in which she also alleged one instance of rape and another instance of Combs forcing her to have sex with male sex workers while he masturbated.

“The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs,” said Ventura’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, in a statement sent to Billboard. “Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”

Ventura had an on-again, off-again relationship with Combs for 11 years until they split in 2018. In the lawsuit, she said she met Combs in 2005 when she was 19 and he was 37. After signing to his Bad Boy Records label, Ventura claimed that Combs “lured” her into a romantic relationship in which he “asserted complete control” over her life.

Since Ventura filed her lawsuit late last year, Combs has been hit with four additional sexual misconduct lawsuits. In November, the mogul stepped down as chairman of his digital media company Revolt before reportedly selling his stake in the company in March. Also in March, federal agents conducted raids of Combs’ L.A. and Miami homes “in connection” with a federal sex trafficking investigation, according to CNN.

Combs has strongly denied all allegations of sexual assault made against him. “Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged,” he said in a statement posted to social media on Dec. 6. “I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”

Backstreet Boys’ ‘Millennium’ at 25: Ranking All the Songs From Worst to Best

Celebrating a larger-than-life classic.

To say that Backstreet Boys’ second album (third internationally) was born out of difficult circumstances would be something of an understatement. Since making their belated U.S. breakthrough with 1997’s Backstreet’s Back, Brian Littrell had undergone open heart surgery, Howie Dorough and Kevin Richardson had both lost close family members, and their early hitmaker Denniz Pop had passed away from stomach cancer. Throw in a bitter legal battle with former manager Lou Pearlman over the millions of dollars he’d reportedly fleeced from them and it’s a wonder Millennium ever saw the light of day.

But as the saying (almost) goes, from great suffering comes record-breaking boy band art. Produced by Max Martin and an army of other Swedish hitmakers who would go on to define the chart landscape over the following decade and beyond, Millennium shifted an astonishing 1.13 million copies in its opening week and would go on to sell 12.3 million copies in the U.S., per Luminate.

Thanks to a string of bona fide teen-pop classics (all four of its singles hit the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, with two going top 10), a lengthy world tour and the stars-aligning rise of MTV’s Total Request Live, it spent 10 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 chart and earned the group four Grammy nominations (including album of the year). It’s still one of the biggest-selling albums of all time.

Just to make any teenyboppers of the late ‘90s feel that little bit older, the unstoppable chart juggernaut is celebrating its 25th anniversary on May 18. So what better time to rank its dozen Y2K offerings from worst to best?
