50 Cent is one to look right in the eye of the storm when it comes to controversy. Even at 48 years old, it’s nearly impossible to predict how he’s going to react in certain social situations. With that said, the G-Unit boss made an appearance at Capitol Hill on Wednesday (June 5), where 50 spent the day rubbing elbows with various politicians from both parties — including Lauren Boebert and Nancy Pelosi — while advocating for more Black representation in the luxury spirits business.

“My experience here has been great,” 50 told The Hill. “I went to talk to them about economic opportunities for everybody, and it’s really exciting. The response I got makes me feel like that there’s bright days ahead of us.”

50 is the owner of his Sire Spirits brand, where his lucrative Branson Cognac lives within his spirits empire. He appeared alongside attorney Ben Crump in hopes of seeing more Black entrepreneurs follow in his footsteps in the alcohol industry.

The “Many Men” rapper was a popular guy on campus, as many politicians wanted a piece of the rap mogul. He posted and reposted photos with former Speaker of the House Pelosi, which sparked outrage from some of his fans on social media.

“The pic with Nancy P was the most terrifying,” one person replied.

Other photos throughout the day posted to his X timeline include appearances from House Speaker Mike Johnson, Congressman Troy Carter, Congressman Steve Scalise, Rep. Joyce Beatty, Congressmen Wesley Hunt and Nick LaLota and more.

However, there was one photo that caused more of a stir on social media than the others. That one found 50 posing alongside controversial Rep. Lauren Boebert. “Lauren Boebert, Colorado Republican making the white house look good,” he captioned the photo on X.

Boebert returned the favor giving him a shout-out on social media while quoting lyrics from his debut album classic “21 Questions,” which not many had on their 2024 bingo card. “I’d still love you if you flipped burgers at Burger King @50Cent, I used to do that myself! Thanks for the photo, great to meet you,” she tweeted.

While fans were in an uproar seeing Boebert with 50, he attempted to calm the backlash and joked about her infamously being kicked out of a Beetlejuice musical in Denver last September for “causing a disturbance” amid speculation of her vaping and getting intimate.

“You don’t do your research,” one fan asked, as another questioned his decision-making skills. “He better be careful with this one.”

“Wait, wait, guys i took pictures with everyone and all you seem to care about is Lauren what did she do in a dark theater that hasn’t been done, my God,” 50 responded. “Hey I don’t have chlamydia by the way. LOL.”

The grind doesn’t stop for 50 Cent, as he’ll be in NYC on Thursday (June 6) for the premiere of Power Book II: Ghost, with part one of the final season set to hit Starz on Friday (June 7).

Nearly three years after making her solo debut with a pair of singles, it looks like LISA of BLACKPINK is finally returning with new music. On Thursday (June 6), the K-pop star posted a minimalistic teaser on Instagram Stories. “Coming soon: LISA,” it simply read. The graphic also featured links to pre-save an unnamed project […]

This year’s CMA Fest in Nashville launched with music icon Dolly Parton spilling the details on several projects she has in the works — namely, a Broadway musical as well as a hotel.
“It’s true, I’m going to have a hotel right here in Nashville, and a museum too,” Parton told the crowd.

The country icon officially revealed her upcoming Songteller Hotel in Nashville, which will be located on 3rd and Commerce in downtown Nashville. The hotel will also include a Dolly Parton museum that will feature memorabilia from her career and many of her fashionable outfits, including a replica of Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors,” which inspired her signature song of the same name.

The name of the hotel takes its name from Parton’s 2020 book Songteller: My Life in Song, written with author-journalist Robert K. Oermann.

“When we were looking at the property, you know how sometimes you feel you get a little divine sign,” Parton said during the event, which was hosted by Entertainment Tonight‘s Rachel Smith. “We were walking through and it was an empty room. There was a table and of all things, there was the book Songteller and we thought that must be a sign and we thought that would be a good name.”

Parton, of course, is no stranger to launching hotels — the singer, songwriter and business mogul’s Dollywood theme park includes the Dreammore Resort, which opened in 2015, and the Heartsong Lodge and Resort, which opened in 2023.

Parton also announced her upcoming Broadway musical, Hello, I’m Dolly: An Original Musical, set to open in 2026. Parton says she affectionately calls it “a Grand Ole Opera.”

“I tried for years, how to do my life story and make it make sense. I needed to write some original music. I’m hoping you’re gonna laugh and cry,” Parton said.

The musical will trace Parton’s life story from growing up in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee before making her way to Nashville to pursue music. The musical will chronicle her early solo hits, her work with Porter Wagoner and her rise as to becoming an internationally, Country Music Hall of Famer, with 25 No. 1 Billboard Hot Country Songs hits. as well as a multi-faceted artist through her work in movies and television.

The musical will be produced by Parton, Adam Speers (ATG Productions) and Danny Nozell (CTK Enterprises), and takes its name from Parton’s first studio album, which released in 1967. Hello, I’m Dolly will feature a score by Parton that will include some of her biggest hits as well as new songs she has written especially for the musical, and a book by Parton and Maria S. Schlatter.

In addition, Parton revealed the launch of Dolly Wines (which starts with a Dolly 2023 California chardonnay) and the cookbook Good Lookin’ Cookin’, which she created with her sister Rachel. Good Lookin’ Cookin’ releases Sept. 17.

These business ventures expand on Parton’s recent teaming with Duncan Hines to launch a line of cake and muffin mixes, as well as Parton’s recent partnership with Krispy Kreme for the limited-time Dolly Parton Southern Sweets Doughnut Collection.

Parton also recently revealed her upcoming family-oriented album Smoky Mountain DNA–Family, Faith and Fables, out in November.

In the meantime, Parton told Smith that she has no plans to slow down anytime soon.

“Not today,” Parton quipped. “Maybe someday I may have to. I’ve always said if my husband was in ill health and needed me, I would pull back — and the same with my own health. But I kind of dreamed myself into a corner and I need to be responsible for that. I may pull back a little now and then, but not today.”

In Billie Eilish‘s new music video for “Chihiro,” the 22-year-old pop star can’t decide if she loves or hates her costar, who’s played by Nat Wolff.
In the new visual released Thursday (June 6), Eilish feverishly runs through an abandoned building. When she sees a strange man — aka the Paper Towns actor — emerge from one of the rooms, she chases after him, only for him to vanish once she catches up to him.

Looking dizzy, the singer then finds her target standing farther down the hallway. This time, she’s able to get to him, and they become aggressive with each other.

“Open up the door, can you open up the door?/ I know you said before you can’t cope with any more,” she pleads on the Finneas-produced track. “You told me it was war, said you’d show me what’s in store/ I hope it’s not for sure, can you open up the door?”

After a minute of fighting, Eilish and Wolff make amends and run for the exit together. Outside in the sunshine, though, the pattern repeats — but this time, the Death Note actor chases and catches her. They wrestle violently in the grass for a while — occasionally interrupted by murky underwater shots — until suddenly, the two start being affectionate with each other again.

The five-minute video was self-directed by the nine-time Grammy winner, who “envisioned a dreamlike narrative in which the long, dark hallways and shutting of doors symbolize the different corners of the mind,” according to a release. “She tumbles into an inescapable connection,” it continues. “The external expression of an internal push and pull, as our deepest feelings of fear, love, or desire inevitably catch up to us, no matter how hard we try to run away.”

Within minutes of the project arriving on YouTube, Eilish posted a clip on Instagram and wrote, “one of my favorite videos i’ve made & truly one of the greatest days of my life.”

“Chihiro” debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 following the release of Eilish’s new album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. All 10 of the LP’s tracks made it onto the chart in their first week of eligibility, led by “Lunch,” which reached No. 5.

“Cobijas Ajenas” rolls to No. 1 on the overall Latin radio tally thanks to a 49% gain in audience impressions, to 8.73 million, earned in the U.S. during the May 24-30 tracking week, according to Luminate. The hit is from Fernández’ full-length album Te Llevo En La Sangre, released May 24 via Universal Music Latino/UMLE.

The song ejects Blessd and Feid’s “Si Sabe Ferxxo” from the lead, after the latter’s one week in charge, with a hefty 19% dip in impressions, to 6.9 million.

“Cobijas” is a cause of celebration for singer-songwriter Olivas, as the radio ramp-up brings him to his first champ on Latin Airplay. Before the new leader, “Yo Todo Soy” gave him his best showing, with a No. 5 high in 2021. The Mexican artist later picked up the No. 7-peaking “No” in April 2022.

Fernández, meanwhile, returns to No. 1 following the one-week ruling of “No Es Que Me Quiera Ir” in August 2023. In total, he adds 11 rulers to his Latin Airplay career account, only two through collabs. As Fernández’s collection of rulers grows, here’s the updated list of his Latin Airplay chart-toppers:

Peak Date, Title, Artist, Weeks at No. 1

Oct. 18, 1997, “Si Tú Supieras,” six

Dec. 27, 1997, “En El Jardín,” featuring Gloria Estefan, six

March 14, 1998, “No Se Olvidar,” eight

July 18, 1998, “Yo Nací Para Amarte,” five

Aug. 21, 1999, “Loco,” one

Dec. 1, 2001, “Tantita Pena,” six

Oct. 23, 2004, “Me Dediqué a Perderte,” two

Jan. 4, 2020, “Caballero,” two

Aug. 5, 2023, “No Es Que Me Quiera Ir,” one

June 8, “Cobijas Ajenas,” with Alfredo Olivas

In addition to their Latin Airplay coronation, Fernández and Olivas, each add a new No. 1 to their Regional Mexican Airplay ledger as “Cobijas” lifts 2-1: nine for the former, and a fourth champ for the latter.

Lastly, thanks to its radio haul, “Cobijas Ajenas” concurrently debuts on the multimetric Hot Latin Songs chart, which combines airplay, streaming data and digital downloads, at No. 49.

Saturday Night Live has no fewer than eight songs in contention for outstanding original music & lyrics at this year’s Primetime Emmy Creative Arts Awards. The roster includes Maya Rudolph’s “Mothers Day Monologue,” in which she sings a “Vogue”-inspired song that pays tribute to the women of SNL as she strides through Studio 8H, and “Dune Popcorn Bucket,” in which the show that gave us “Dick in a Box” tries to top itself.

Four of the videos accompanying these songs feature major recording stars. Chris Stapleton shows personality and an unexpected flair for comedy in “Get That Boy Back.” Travis Scott is featured in “We Got Too High,” in which three kids are try in vain to keep up with the rap star’s marijuana use. Billie Eilish has some silly fun in “Tampon Farm.” Dave Grohl has a cameo as a minister at the end of “Lake Beach.”

These catchy and satirical songs are overseen by SNL’s music director Eli Brueggemann (who won in this category in 2018 for co-writing “Come Back Barack”) and music producer Jake Procanik.

Three SNL songs have won in this category over the years – “Dick in a Box,” the 2007 song from a Justin Timberlake-hosted episode that somehow managed to be both audacious and kinda sweet at the same time; “Justin Timberlake Monologue” (2011), in which JT sings a song about how he absolutely won’t sing that night; and “Come Back Barack,” a Boyz II Men-style ballad from a Chance the Rapper-hosted episode about how people in the Donald Trump years missed his more even-keeled predecessor.

SNL is currently tied with the annual Tony Awards telecast for having the most winners in this category. Three songs from the Tonys, all performed by host Neil Patrick Harris, won the award in 2012-14 – “It’s Not Just for Gays Anymore,” a sensational opening number from the 2011 show; “If I Had Time,” a very clever closing number from the 2012 show; and “Bigger!,” from the 2013 show, quite possibly the biggest opening number on any awards show ever. Who said less is more?

The outstanding original music & lyrics category originated in 1970. Notable winners over the years have included EGOT recipients Marvin Hamlisch and Robert Lopez; Broadway powerhouses Kander & Ebb and Lin-Manuel Miranda; Hot 100 chart-toppers Timberlake, Melanie, Walter Murphy, David Paich (Toto) and Ed Sheeran; and TV stars Seth MacFarlane, Sarah Silverman, Seth Meyers and Kenan Thompson.

Nominations for the 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on July 17. The 2024 Creative Arts Emmys will be held on Sept. 7-8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The primetime Emmy telecast will be held on Sept. 15 at the same venue.

Here you can watch the eight SNL songs that are in contention for this year’s Primetime Emmy for outstanding original music & lyrics.

Sublime is back on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart with “Feel Like That,” a collaboration with Stick Figure. The song debuts at No. 35 on the June 8-dated ranking.
“Feel Like That,” which also features credited vocals from late Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell, is the first Alternative Airplay hit credited to Sublime – and not its separate, subsequent iteration Sublime With Rome – since “Doin’ Time,” which hit No. 28 in November 1997.

In between “Doin’ Time” and “Feel Like That,” Sublime With Rome – featuring new vocalist Rome Ramirez – reached the ranking four times in 2011-19, led by the No. 4-peaking “Panic” in 2011.

Sublime With Rome, in addition to Ramirez, initially included previous Sublime members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh; Gaugh departed in 2011 and Wilson followed earlier this year. Gaugh and Wilson then reformed Sublime with Nowell’s son Jakob on vocals and guitar. “Feel Like That” features both Jakob and Bradley on vocals, the latter via a recording from early 1996. Bradley Nowell died of an overdose that May.

Sublime reunited late last year and has since performed at Coachella.

The original incarnation of Sublime didn’t reach Alternative Airplay until after Nowell’s death. “What I Got” reigned for three weeks beginning in October 1996, while “Santeria” and “Wrong Way” each hit No. 3 in 1997, ahead of the aforementioned “Doin’ Time.”

As for Stick Figure, “Feel Like That” is the band’s first Alternative Airplay chart entry, as well as the six-piece’s premiere rank on any Billboard airplay survey. The band first graced a Billboard chart in 2009 when Smoke Stack peaked at No. 8 on Reggae Albums, on which Stick Figure now boasts four No. 1s.

Currently a standalone single, “Feel Like That” also bows at No. 43 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart with 801,000 audience impressions in the week ending May 30, according to Luminate. Its first-week download count of 2,000 sparks a No. 8 debut on Rock Digital Song Sales.

The 77th Annual Tony Awards, set to air live on both coasts on CBS on Sunday, June 16, will feature performances from the eight of the nine productions nominated for best musical or best revival of a musical, omitting only Gutenberg!
