Watch John Krasinski Have a Shameless Dance Party By Himself to Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’

He’s dancing on his own, making the moves up as he goes. In a hilarious new commercial, John Krasinski lets his freak flag fly while indulging in a solo dance party to Taylor Swift‘s “Shake It Off,” something Swifties all over the world can definitely relate to.

In the 30-second spot, which Canadian entertainment and communications company Rogers shared Friday (July 12), the A Quiet Place star stands alone on a small boat in the middle of Lake Simcoe in Ontario. After looking around to make certain no one is watching him, he presses play on the pop star’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) smash and lets loose, making up his own choreography and lip-syncing to the lyrics.

When he realizes that a fisherman across the way has been watching him the entire time, though, Krasinski falters — until the canoer starts dancing with him. “We do our thing, so you can do yours,” a piece of narration ends the video. We got you.”

Rogers’ use of Swift’s music is fitting — the company is the presenting sponsor of the 14-time Grammy winner’s Eras Tour shows in Canada. After finishing her European leg in August, she’ll do a brief second lap in the United States before closing out the year-and-a-half run with performances in Toronto and Vancouver in November and December.

Krasinski’s ad is just the latest commercial to feature a Swift song, a practice that has grown more frequent ever since she began reclaiming her masters by re-recording her first six albums in 2021 (at this time, she only has her 2006 self-titled debut and 2017’s Reputation left to remake). In October, her Midnights closer “Mastermind” was used in a Survivor promotion, while “Welcome to New York” soundtracked an NFL spot in September.

Here’s Every Artist Featured on Eminem’s ‘The Death of Slim Shady’ Album

Eminem is back. The Detroit legend reasserted his status as a titan in the rap game with his The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) album on Friday (July 12).

The Grammy-winning rhymer loaded up his 12th studio album — and first since 2020’s Music to Be Murdered By — with 19 songs and a pair of bonus tracks.

Prior to the LP’s arrival, Em urged fans to listen to the tracks in the order he sequenced since it’s a “conceptual album.”

“Public service announcement: the ‘death of slim shady’ is a conceptual album, therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense,” he wrote. “Enjoy.”

Em kept some tricks up his sleeve when he left the special guests off the tracklist, but there was plenty of help from the likes of Jelly Roll, J.I.D, Skylar Grey, Big Sean, BabyTron and more.

From poignant letters to his children to dissing Diddy across multiple tracks, Em goes from diabolical madman to reflective father in a matter of seconds.

Eminem could be looking at his 11th consecutive solo LP atop the Billboard 200 when the tallies come in next week. He kicked off The Death of Slim Shady rollout in May with “Houdini,” which landed at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for his highest charting entry of the decade. He followed-up with “Tobey” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron earlier in July, which debuted at No. 95 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Here are all of the musicians featured on The Death of Slim Shady:

Both acts wrap their quickest coronation on any Billboard airplay survey. Falling in Reverse’s two previous radio rulers, “Popular Monster” and “Zombified” (both on Mainstream Rock Airplay), took 16 weeks to No. 1 in 2020 and 2022, respectively.

Jelly Roll soars past his prior fastest run to No. 1 on a radio chart, as “Need a Favor” needed 18 weeks to lead Mainstream Rock Airplay in 2023; he boasts three No. 1s on Mainstream Rock Airplay and four on Country Airplay.

Trending on Billboard

“All My Life” wraps the second-quickest flight to No. 1 on Mainstream Rock Airplay this year; Pearl Jam’s “Dark Matter” led in its fourth frame in March.

Each of Jelly Roll’s entries has led Mainstream Rock Airplay, with “All My Life” and “Need a Favor” preceded by “Dead Man Walking,” a one-week No. 1 in 2022. He becomes the first act to send three initial entries to No. 1 since The Pretty Reckless, which racked up a streak of four out of the gate in 2014-16 via “Heaven Knows,” “Messed Up World,” “Follow Me Down” and “Take Me Down.”

Concurrently, “All My Life” jumps 8-5 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart with 2.9 million impressions in the week ending July 11, up 8%, according to Luminate. It’s Falling in Reverse’s best-charting song on the survey, having surpassed the No. 11-peaking “Last Resort (Reimagined),” a cover of Papa Roach‘s original, last year. Jelly Roll’s best remains “Need a Favor,” which reached No. 3. Assisting the success of “All My Life” is support on alternative radio, as it’s currently bubbling under the Alternative Airplay survey.

On the most recently published multimetric Hot Hard Rock Songs chart (dated July 13, reflecting data in the week ending July 4), “All My Life” ranked at No. 2 after three weeks at No. 1. In addition to its radio airplay, it drew 3.2 million official U.S. streams and sold 1,000 downloads.

“All My Life” previews Popular Monster, Falling in Reverse’s fifth studio album, due Aug. 16.

All Billboard charts dated July 20 will be updated on Billboard.com on Tuesday, July 16.

Soundtracks Are in a Slump on the Billboard 200

There are just two film or TV soundtracks on the current Billboard 200 album chart – and neither is from a 2024 film. Barbie: The Album, which drops to No. 172 in its 50th week on the chart, was tied to last summer’s box-office juggernaut. Moana, which drops to No. 173 in its 379th week, is the soundtrack to a film that was released way back in 2016.

This is the first time that the highest-ranking soundtrack on the Billboard 200 has ranked as low as No. 172 in the more than seven years that the Billboard 200 and the Top Soundtracks chart have adhered to the same chart formula.

Both charts rank the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

Trending on Billboard

Everything is the music business is cyclical, and this seems to be especially true with soundtracks. They have years where they dominate the Billboard 200 and years where they hardly make a dent.

From Feb. 11, 2017, the week that the two charts first adhered to the same formula, through the chart dated Sept. 23, 2017, at least one soundtrack appeared in the top 20 every week, thanks to such winners as La La Land, Fifty Shades Darker, Trolls, Moana, Beauty and the Beast, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, Purple Rain and Descendants 2.

What’s more, at least one soundtrack appeared in the top 100 every week through April 24, 2021. After that, the ongoing pandemic slowed the flow of hit films, and as a consequence, hit soundtracks. There were 22 weeks in 2021 in which no soundtracks appeared in top 100.

The picture for soundtracks brightened considerably in 2022, thanks largely to Encanto and Elvis. At least one soundtrack appeared in the top 100 every week that year. In 33 of those weeks, at least one soundtrack appeared in the top 20.

There were seven weeks in 2023 in which no soundtracks appeared in the top 100. There have been nine such weeks so far in 2024.

Guapdad 4000 Says Kamala Harris Has ‘Done Nothing to Change My Opinion About Her’

As certain sects of Democrats continue to seriously eye Vice President Kamala Harris as a replacement for President Joe Biden atop the ticket for the 2024 Presidential Election, voters are reflecting on their perception of the history-making VP. Among those voters are Billboard-charting rapper and actor Guapdad4000.

On Thursday (July 11), Guap took to his official X page to quote a post featuring a clip from a 2019 Vice YouTube video in which Jamal Trulove, reflected on Harris’ role in sending him to prison for six years during her time as San Francisco’s district attorney.

“Kamala Harris basically sent my mom to jail, changing the course of me and [my] siblings’ lives,” Guap wrote. “She never looked up from whatever she was reading, she never even looked moms in her eyes in court.”

Trending on Billboard

The “Bali” rapper’s tweet helped reignite social media conversations regarding Harris’ history as a “progressive prosecutor” and Black voters’ relationship to her — particularly in the wake of Biden’s disastrous debate performance and the subsequent hysteria about his viability as a candidate. In an exclusive statement to Billboard, Guapdad 4000 contextualizes his X post and opens up about the emotional impact of Harris’ role in his mother’s imprisonment.

“[First,] I have to highlight my momma to see if she wants me to divulge the full details,” he says. “I wrote the tweet thinking like, ‘Man, it just sounds like I’m not putting any accountability on my momma for committing a crime.’ But where we from and what’s illegal now, and especially the laws that was put in place in California during the Biden administration, it just feels like a slap in the face to the s—t that we had to go through.”

“The removal of a parent from my little sister’s life — even if it was briefly, even if it was a long time — no child should be going through that on purpose,” the Black and Filipino rapper continues. “Now, am I proud that my mom was moving illegally? No, but I understand the pressures of the hood when you were a parent, especially with kids like us. Literally, imagine taking care of me. Some support is needed.”

Harris’ record as a prosecutor came under heavy scrutiny during her first presidential campaign back in 2020. Though she touted herself as a “progressive prosecutor,” several instances throughout her time as both San Francisco district attorney and California attorney general highlighted her tendencies to fall in line with the status quo rather than pursuing true criminal justice reform.

“Time after time, when progressives urged her to embrace criminal justice reforms as district attorney and then the state’s attorney general, Ms. Harris opposed them or stayed silent,” wrote Lara Bazelon, the former director of Loyola Law School Project for the Innocent, in a 2019 New York Times op-ed. “Most troubling, Ms. Harris fought tooth and nail to uphold wrongful convictions that had been secured through official misconduct that included evidence tampering, false testimony, and the suppression of crucial information by prosecutors.”

“The feeling that [my mother] described of [Harris] not being able to look somebody [she’s] sending to jail in their eyes is 1) unnerving and 2) dehumanizing as f—k,” says Guap, who celebrates the five-year anniversary of his Billboard Hot 100 debut next week. On the chart dated July 20, 2019, he debuted alongside several other rappers with “Costa Rica” (No. 75), a fan-favorite from Dreamville‘s 2019 compilation, Revenge of the Dreamers III.

As more and more voters continue to voice their disillusionment with the presumptive nominees from both the Democratic and Republican parties, some folks are making the tough choice to sit out the upcoming election, including Guap. According to FiveThirtyEight, 57% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of Biden — that’s the highest his unfavorability rating has been since Jan. 1, 2022. Comparatively, just 53% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of former President Trump.

“Even knowing all of this, I still ended up voting for Biden [in 2020,]” notes Guap. “Now, would I vote for them? Honestly, [no.] We funding and are a part of a whole genocide. This country was built on so much racism. I’m not surprised, but as much as I wanted to cheer for a f—king Blasian vice president — and our president is so old, so she might as well be the pseudo president — [Kamala’s] done nothing to change my opinion about her… I ain’t voting for nobody.”

Billboard has reached out to Harris’ team for comment.

Meanwhile, J Balvin offers another song that is set to be part of his forthcoming album, Rayo, set to drop Aug. 9. “Gaga,” in collaboration with Saiko, is a club-ready electronica tune that captures the vibe of his new set, which he teased will feel more like a “house party” as opposed to just a collection of songs.
