Houston PD Is Seeking Information From Witnesses Following Takeoff’s Murder

Chief Troy Finner explained that much of the situation is currently under investigation, and that all they know at press time is that the late rapper (born Kirshnik Khari Ball) — who was one third of the Migos trio alongside his uncle, Quavo, and cousin, Offset — was at a private party at 810 Billiards & Bowling in downtown Houston with Quavo around 2:35 a.m. when investigators say shots rang out during an afterparty attended by around 40 people. Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene, and two other victims — a 23-year-old male and 24-year-old female — checked themselves into a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

However, many of those in attendance fled the scene, prompting Finner to urge witnesses to come forward with any information to help authorities solve the case. “Anyone who has information on the shooter, let us bring justice to this family,” Mayor Sylvester Turner added during the conference. “We will solve this case. We will find the shooter.”

Finner added, “Someone knows exactly who it was and I feel confident in it.”

During the press conference, Turner also urged young people to stop killing each other through senseless violence, and to keep families in their minds before pulling the trigger. Watch the press briefing in its entirety below.

Haim Gear Up for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour With Adorable Group Photo: ‘Who’s Ready?’

Taylor Swift is heading out on her first tour in five years, and bringing an all-star lineup of supporting acts with her for her career-spanning The Eras Tour.

Paramore, Beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, Girl in Red, MUNA, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, OWENN and Haim will all be switching off in joining Swift’s supporting act lineup for the tour’s first leg. To celebrate hitting the road with their close pal, Haim took to Instagram to share a group photo of the sibling trio alongside Swift — all matching in leather outfits.

“WHO’S READY FOR ROUND 2? THE ERAS TOUR,” they captioned the photo. The squad has previously teamed up for “Gasoline” off Haim’s 2020 album, Women in Music Pt. III. The sisters are featured on Swift’s Evermore, on the murder-mystery country track “No Body, No Crime,” and recently appeared in the pop superstar’s music video for “Bejeweled.”

The Eras Tour will be a celebration of all 10 of the studio albums Swift has released since 2006 — at least, that’s what the trek’s title suggests. The singer also shared a poster advertising the tour’s 27-date U.S. leg on Instagram featuring a collage of photos of herself through the years, from the time of her self-titled debut to Midnights, which dropped less than two weeks prior to the tour news.

The tour presented by Capitol One and produced by Taylor Swift Touring and promoted by the Messina Touring Group will begin on March 18 with a show at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., Swift announced during an appearance on Good Morning America. International dates will be announced soon.

“I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time. I’ve been planning for ages and I finally get to tell you: I’m going back on tour,” Swift said on GMA. “The tour is called the Eras tour and it’s a journey through all of the musical eras of my career.”

From Lizzo to Harry Styles, Whose 2022 Halloween Costume Was Your Favorite?

The arrival of November means that Halloween has come and gone, but we’re not quite down reveling in spooky season just yet. Now that the holiday is officially over, Billboard wants to know which celebrity’s costume you declare the year’s best.

With an entire weekend to get ghoulish, many famous faces churned out multiple Halloween costumes between Friday and Monday, wringing as much Halloween spirit as they could out of the autumn air. A perfect example? Lizzo, who became rapper Blueface’s girlfriend Chrisean Rock on Friday (Oct. 28), painted herself in head-to-toe yellow as a frightfully accurate Marge Simpson on Saturday (Oct. 29) and a foul-mouthed NSFW Miss Piggy on Sunday (Oct. 30).

Then there was Ariana Grande and her bestie Liz Gillies, who admitted they filmed their hilarious video as Jennifer Coolidge and Jane Lynch’s characters from 2000’s Best in Show back in May.

Harry Styles continued the tradition of his fan favorite Harryween live show at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles as Danny Zuko from Grease, even treating the audience to a cover of “Hopelessly Devoted to You.”

As far as couple’s costumes went, Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox threw it back to the ’90s as Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson, while Frankie Jonas and his girlfriend went for a hilariously meta take as his older brother Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift.

However, Heidi Klum may have taken the cake by hosting the return of her famous A-list Halloween bash after two years away as a creepy crawly worm.

Check out our roundup of 2022 celebrity Halloween costumes, then vote for your favorite below.

Here Are the Artists Opening for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour: Paramore, Phoebe Bridgers & More

Time to start saving up, Swifties. The news that Taylor Swift is going on her first tour in five years is exciting enough, but once you see the star-studded list of guest artists she’s bringing along for the ride, you’ll really want to purchase a ticket.

The pop star announced Tuesday (Nov. 1) that she would be embarking on The Eras Tour, a celebration of all 10 of the studio albums she’s released since 2006 — at least, that’s what the trek’s title suggests. Swift also shared a poster advertising the tour’s 27-date U.S. leg on Instagram featuring a collage of photos of herself through the years, from the time of her self-titled debut to Midnights, which dropped less than two weeks prior to the tour news.

The Cats star hasn’t hit the road since 2018, when she launched her best-selling Reputation Tour. She had planned on performing again after the release of her 2019 record Lover in a concert series called Lover Fest, but canceled the shows due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

For those who are keeping count, this means that Tay has six albums-worth of new material that she’s never played live — if you include the previously unreleased vault tracks on 2021’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version). Studio albums Folklore, Evermore and, of course, Midnights, have all also been released in the time between Lover and the Eras Tour.

Though additional international dates won’t be announced until a later time, Swift did also reveal exactly who’s joining her during her highly anticipated return to touring. A total of nine artists make up the supporting act lineup for the tour’s first leg — with two acts slated per night to open for Tay night — and some of them are very familiar faces for the Swiftie community.

Here Are All the Hot 100 & Billboard 200 Chart Records That Taylor Swift Has Broken

Taylor Swift has long been a powerhouse on Billboard’s charts, from her 2006 debut single “Tim McGraw” through her latest, 10th studio album, Midnights.

On the latest Nov. 5-dated charts, Swift smashes several records, including becoming the first artist to blanket the entire top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 in a single week. She also ups her count to 40 top 10s – passing Madonna for the most among women in the chart’s 64-year history. Leading the way, Midnights lead single “Anti-Hero” debuts at No. 1.

On the Billboard 200, MidnightsNo. 1 entrance ties Swift with Barbra Streisand for the most leaders among women, 11 each, in the tally’s 66-year history.

As Swift makes more history, here’s a look at the numerous Hot 100 and Billboard 200 chart records that the superstar has claimed throughout her career.

Billboard’s Hot Trending charts, powered by Twitter and sponsored by Xfinity Mobile, track global music-related trends and conversations in real-time across Twitter, viewable over either the last 24 hours or past seven days. A weekly, 20-position version of the chart, covering activity from Friday through Thursday of each week, posts alongside Billboard’s other weekly charts on Billboard.com each Tuesday.

Upon the chart’s relaunch, Hot Trending Songs captures the volume of conversation around a given song, as well as the velocity of conversation, incorporating what’s becoming the talk of Twitter, in addition to songs that are already viral on the platform.

Released Oct. 28 but its arrival teased in the days leading up to its premiere, “Lift Me Up” bows at No. 1 on the ranking. Conversation around the ballad reflects, in part, the lengthy wait between new singles for the superstar, whose last full-length, ANTI, was released in 2016.

“Lift” is part of the rollout for the upcoming soundtrack to the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Another Rihanna song from the soundtrack, the currently unreleased “Born Again,” swoops in at No. 2 on Hot Trending Songs due to pre-release buzz.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is due in North American theaters Nov. 11, a week after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – Music From and Inspired By is expected (Nov. 4).

Below Rihanna’s double-up on Hot Trending Songs is a slew of new titles, led by Juice WRLD’s “In My Head” at No. 3, with the Black Eyed Peas, Anitta and El Alfa‘s collaboration “Simply the Best” at No. 4 and JIN’s “The Astronaut” rounding out the top five. Each song was released Oct. 28; their first weeks of eligibility for Billboard’s multi-metric charts such as the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200 will be reflected on next week’s Nov. 12-dated surveys, covering the Oct. 28-Nov. 3 tracking week.

North West Dresses Up as TLC’s Chilli for Halloween, Lip Syncs ‘No Scrubs’: Watch

North West spent her Halloween recreating TLC‘s “No Scrubs” with her friends, right down to lip syncing the track’s famous lyrics.

In a TikTok posted to her joint account with her mom Kim Kardashian, the nine-year-old wears a black halter top and pants with latex detail as Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas while her pals round out the adorable group costume as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and the late Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes.

“And no, I don’t want no scrubs/ A scrub is a guy that can’t get no love from me/ Hangin’ out the passenger side of his best friend’s ride/ Tryin’ to holler at me,” the miniature versions of TLC lip synch as North grooves enthusiastically to the song’s beat.

A second video shows the elementary schoolers getting glammed up for the performance, with North responsible for taking plenty of mirror selfies with her besties. Kardashian, meanwhile, makes a cameo in a third video, dancing around with her oldest child as Northie lip syncs to “Waterfalls” after the impromptu shoot.

The trio’s TLC costume got love from T-Boz and Chilli on Instagram, with T-Boz sharing the video to her page and writing, “Ayyyyyyyeeeee. Okayyyyyy PrettyGirls … #NorthWest And Her Girls Smashed #TLC This Halloween @kimkardashian #demTLCGirls #DemTLCbabies Love The Love.” Chilli expressed a similar sentiment in her repost: “#demtlcbabies nailed it!!!
@kimkardashian @the.orji.family,” she gushed on Instagram.

North’s TikTok account has been a source of parental contention between Kardashian and Kanye West in the past, with the embattled rapper lashing out in a since-deleted Instagram post that his daughter was on the social platform “against [his] will.”

The SKIMMS mogul then responded to her ex’s dig by issuing a statement on her own social media pointing out that she is the “main provider and caregiver” for the couple’s four children and lets North express her creativity on the platform only with careful and conscientious “adult supervision.”

Davido’s Three-Year-Old Son Drowns

Afrobeat star Davido‘s three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, died on Monday (Oct. 31) at the Nigerian singer’s Lagos home in what appears to be a drowning. According to BBC News, a police spokesperson confirmed the child’s death, which Davido and his fiancé, chef/influencer Chioma Rowland, have not yet commented on publicly. At press time a spokesperson for the singer had no official comment on the incident.

A police spokesperson told BBC News that one of the couple’s domestic staff called police at 10 p.m. local time on Monday about the incident; the officer also reportedly confirmed that 8 members of Davido’s staff have been invited in for questioning. “We are reviewing the CCTV cameras to get additional information about the circumstances of his death,” police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said.

“His body has been deposited in the morgue. We are in touch with his parents. In fact they were with us last night.” Neither Davido (born David Adeleke) — one of Africa’s biggest cross-over pop stars — nor Rowland were home at the time of their son’s death according to an Associated Press report.

Davido’s 2018 single “Fall” became the longest-charting Nigerian song in history in 2019 and in the years since the Atlanta-born star has branched out with a number of high-profile collaborations with everyone from Stefflon Don (“Fia”), Popcaan (“Risky”), Chris Brown (“Blow My Mind”), Brown and Young Thug (“Shopping Spress”), Lil Baby (“So Crazy”), Nicki Minaj (“Holy Ground”) and Nas and Hit-Boy (“Birthday Cake”); the latter four appeared on Davido’s cameo-packed 2020 collection A Better Time.

Migos’ Biggest Billboard Hot 100 Hits

The late Takeoff, who died on Tuesday (Nov. 1), at age 28, shaped an entire chapter and sound of hip-hop as one-third of the rap group Migos. The rapper, born Kirshnik Ball, formed the trio near Atlanta with Offset, his cousin, and Quavo, his uncle, and began recording in the early 2010s. Migos made its first Billboard chart appearance in July 2013, as “Versace” debuted on a handful of sales and airplay charts. From there, the trio established itself as one of hip-hop’s most popular acts, with multiple top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200Culture in 2017 and its follow-up, Culture II — the next year.

Though Migos was on an “indefinite hiatus,” per Rolling Stone in an October interview, Takeoff and Quavo teamed up for a 2022 album, Only Built for Infinity Links, released Oct. 7. The set became yet another top 10 success on the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 7, and debuted at No. 1 on the Top Rap Albums list.

As fans and his fellow musicians mourn the rapper, let’s recap Takeoff’s impact through a countdown of his biggest hits on the Billboard Hot 100, both as a solo act and member of Migos.
