Rihanna Is the Most-Followed Woman on Twitter: Watch Your Back Justin Bieber!

Rihanna hit yet another new career high point this week when she sneaked past Katy Perry to become the most-followed woman on Twitter. And while this was a momentous moment, the record may ping-pong between the twos superstars in the near future because at press time the distance between them is just over three of Katy’s Las Vegas “Play” dates.

According to SocialBlade, at press time Rihanna had 108,278,326 followers to Perry’s equally impressive 108,261,949, with just over 16,000 followers separating them. Both women are hot on the heels of the third-most followed man on the service, one Justin Bieber, who at press time had 113,156,831.

They all pale in comparison to the second-most followed man on Twitter, former President Barack Obama, who sits are just under 133 million, with, no surprise, chief Twit Elon Musk sitting atop Twitter Mountain with more than 134 million followers.

Further down the list, Taylor Swift is sitting in the seventh spot with more than 92 million followers, with Lady Gaga rounding out the top 10 at No. 10 with just under 85 million.

It’s a different story on Instagram, where internationally beloved football players Cristiano Ronaldo far-and-away the most-followed with more than 574 million followers, well ahead of fellow soccer player Lionel Messi (454 million). Selena Gomez is the most-followed woman and musician on the service at 410 million, with Ariana Grande coming in at No. 7 (362 million), followed by Kim Kardashian (350 million), Beyoncé (302 million) and Justin Bieber at No. 11 (283 million).

Blake Shelton Transforms Into ‘Bunny Blake’ for Easter

Blake Shelton was feeling the Easter spirit on Sunday (April 9), so much so, that he took on the role of Easter Bunny for his friends and family.

Gwen Stefani took to Instagram to share a hilarious video of her country superstar husband dressed in a pink bunny suit, as well as their holiday festivities, to the tune of The Beatles‘ “Do You Want to Know a Secret.”

“bunny blake strikes again! hope u had a hoppy easter,” the “Hollaback Girl” singer captioned her post.

Shelton is currently amid his final season of The Voice. He announced his departure from the popular NBC singing competition, on which he’s been a coach since it premiered in 2011, back in October. “This show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me,” he wrote in a statement posted to social media. “It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people, you are the best. It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week.”

With Esten on the guitar, the duo harmonized in the chorus of the ode to nostalgia, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart dated August 3, 1985. The song, featured on Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A., spent a total of 18 weeks on the tally.

Other songs Clarkson has recently taken on for her Kellyoke segment include Lenny Kravitz’s cover of “American Woman,” GAYLE’s Grammy-nominated breakout “abcdefu” — complete with tweaked lyrics to allude to her divorce from Brandon Blackstock — and Janet Jackson’s “When I Think of You.”

Clarkson is also gearing up to release her highly anticipated album Chemistry, her first project of original, non-holiday music since 2017’s Meaning of Life. The studio set’s lead single “Mine” is set to arrive April 14 via Atlantic Records.

Eladio Carrión Talks First Sauce Boyz Fest, Announces Wiz Khalifa, Bizarrap & Duki to Headline

Headliners include Argentine giants Bizarrap and Duki, rap superstar Wiz Khalifa, Dominican dembow artist Tokischa, and rising stars like Young Miko, Dei V, Yovngchimi and more, with an expected attendance of 45,000 total. The event sold out weeks before the lineup was even announced.

“We really want [fest-goers] to have the best experience of their life. Musically it’s going to be crazy. I’ve been dying to just announce this lineup,” Carrión tells Billboard Español. Taking place May 18 and 20 in Mayagüez and San Juan, the Puerto Rican festival is the first of its kind, being held at a beer factory on day one and by the beach on day two. At the same time, Carrión will launch his own beer line, La H.

Billboard Español traveled to Puerto Rico to speak with the tremendo cabrón (reference to his newest album 3MEN2 KBRN) to discuss everything about his latest festival endeavor.

This is your first annual Sauce Boyz Fest. What’s the origin story?

My team and I were trying to figure out how to give fans a better show than our past one, which was at El Choliseo (Coliseo de Puerto Rico) [which took place last year]. It was a really good three days, so we had to do something extra special. It started off as something smaller and we just kept building and molding until this big gigantic monster formed. So it’s amazing that it’s going to be something crazy.

The festival was sold out before the lineup was announced! Were you surprised?

I kind of wasn’t because I know my fans, they know me, and they know that I’m never going to give them something mediocre. What they don’t know is how hard it’s going to be. They know it’s going to be special, but I don’t think they know it’s going to be this special. We went all out.

Talk to me about the logistics, where it takes place, etc.

We divided it into two events. We have the 18th, which is going to be in Mayagüez. Artists usually never do stuff on the West Side because there are no big venues. But we’re going to use the Cervecera where they make the beers in Puerto Rico. They make Medalla, they make our beer La H that we just came out with. We’re going to put [my] beer out [then]. On the 20th , we have the bigger event with a bigger stage. It’s at [Estadio] Sixto Escobar, an open [air] place. There’s a beach, and it’s humongous.

Let’s talk about the lineup.

As for the lineup, we have a bunch of local talent. We’re getting all the kids that are hot right now. We got Dei V, Yovngchimi, Young Miko… people that are stepping the game up from the younger cast of Puerto Rico. Just to name a few of them. As for headliners, we got Bizarrap, Tokischa, Duki and we got Wiz Khalifa. It’ll be Biza’s first time in Puerto Rico, and if I’m not mistaken, for Duki too.

Wiz, that’s the OG. That’s personally a win for me because I’m dying to see his show. I don’t know how I’m going to do it, but I’m going to try and see his show before I do mine. I’m excited for that one. I know they’re going to love it here, too. I think it’s Wiz’s first time live in Puerto Rico. We wanted to bring that cultural experience, not only for it to be Puerto Rican talent, but let [non-Puerto Rican artists] see [the island] for the first time with people who want to see them.

Bizarrap is in the best moment of his career right now. It’s going to be the first time we’re performing that [session] live together, too. It hasn’t been done yet.

You mentioned you’re launching a beer too at the same time?

We semi-launched it low key on the island. They just distribute it to all the places [in Puerto Rico]. This week, people just started buying it. But the official launch, the first announcement of my beer is going to be towards the festival.

What will make Sauce Boyz Fest a unique experience compared to other festivals in the Latin music circuit?

The experience. We got a crazy lineup, 25 artists confirmed, plus my show at the end. Besides the music, we’re really focusing on the experience, like when [fest-goers] are waiting for their favorite artist or when they arrive to the merch seccion — we really want them to have the best experience of their life. Musically it’s going to be crazy. I’ve been dying to just announce this lineup.

Spend the Day With Jimin as He Prepares to Take Over NYC While Promoting ‘FACE’

When Jimin touched down in New York City to promote his solo debut album FACE, Vogue caught it all on video. The fashion magazine released a day-in-the-life video with the BTS singer in which he gets ready to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The video kicks off with the K-pop star taking a look through his wardrobe for his upcoming television performance. “I’ll be performing at the Jimmy Fallon show tomorrow. The vibe of this outfit is a bit like I’ve become the star in the club, this sparkling outfit,” he excitedly tells the camera.

Appearing on Fallon was a major full-circle moment for Jimin. “The place I’m shooting at tomorrow, right around that located is where I first performed in the U.S., for 20,000 to 30,000 people,” he explained. “ARMY is the name of our BTS fanbase. ARMY would translate all our songs in English for us and keep sending them to America. Then, thanks to our American fans, we could get played on the radio. That’s how I was able to come here. This time, I’m releasing my first solo album.”

The K-pop vocalist then caught up with record producer Pdogg, who played a crucial role in helping craft FACE. “Last time I was in the States, I spoke with the other BTS members about how I wanted to make an album, so I called Pdogg right away and he immediately told me to come over,” Jimin said. “So we met up and talked about what kind of songs I wanted to make.”

After a brief stop to go record shopping, Jimin heads to the studio to perfect his dance moves before appearing on television.

SZA’s ‘Kill Bill’ Breaks Female No. 1 Record on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart

SZA’s “Kill Bill” achieves one of the biggest honors ever on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, as the track breaks the record for the most weeks at No. 1 by a lead female artist in the list’s nearly 65-year history. The single cements the feat with its 16th week on top, passing Mary J. Blige’s “Be Without You,” which captured 15 weeks at the summit in 2006.

The “Kill Bill” coronation comes on the April 15-dated Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, which factors streaming, radio airplay and sales into its methodology. For the corresponding tracking week of March 31-April 6, “Kill Bill” earned 23.4 million official U.S. streams, according to Luminate, a 5% dip from the prior week. Despite the decline, the single logs a 15th nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart. The song sold 6,000 downloads in the week (up 158%, helped by 69-cent sale-pricing in the iTunes Store), prompting a 3-1 jump for its first week atop the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart. In the radio world, “Kill Bill” registered 93 million in total airplay audience for the week, essentially even week-over-week. (All airplay, regardless of radio format origin, contributes to a title’s rank on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.)

As mentioned, a 16th week atop Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs gives “Kill Bill” sole possession of the record for the most weeks at No. 1 for a song by a woman in a lead role. It breaks from a tie, set last week, with Mary J. Blige’s “Be Without You,” which ruled for 15 weeks in 2006. Now that “Kill Bill” has defeated all such competitors, here’s a look at the longest-running No. 1s by women in lead roles, since the chart became an all-encompassing genre survey in 1958.

Weeks at No. 1, Song Title, Artist, Date Reached No. 1:
16, “Kill Bill,” SZA, Dec. 24, 2022
15, “Be Without You,” Mary J. Blige, Jan. 7, 2006
14, “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here,” Deborah Cox, Nov. 7, 1998
14, “We Belong Together,” Mariah Carey, June 4, 2005
14, “Diamonds,” Rihanna, Oct. 20, 2012
13, “Fancy,” Iggy Azalea featuring Charli XCX, June 7, 2014
12, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” Beyoncé, Nov. 29, 2008
12, “Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready),” Alicia Keys, May 22, 2010

Including featured artists, British singer Kyla owns the all-time mark among women. She, with Wizkid, guested on Drake’s smash “One Dance,” an 18-week champ in 2016.

On the overall scorecard, “Kill Bill” sits in the top five of the longest-leading Hot R&B/Hip-Hop champs since 1958. A 16th leading week ties it with Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” featuring Pharrell and T.I., for fourth place. The pair places behind, in order, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus (20 weeks, 2019) and Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow’s “Industry Baby” (18 weeks, 2021-22) and the aforementioned “One Dance” (18). As “Kill Bill” has ranked at No. 1 for 16 of its 17 weeks on the chart since its debut last December, the song could likely challenge for the all-time title in just over a month’s time.

“Kill Bill” is SZA’s second career No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, after “I Hate U” debuted at the summit and led for a week in December 2021. Both tracks appear on her latest album, SOS – itself a juggernaut in the genre. The album has posted 16 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart since it debuted in the top slot last December.

J-Rock Band SID Talk 20-Year History & Recent Rebirth: Interview

This year, SID celebrated their 20th anniversary.

The four-piece band, made up of Mao (vocals), Shinji (guitar), Aki (bass) and Yuuya (drums), released their first album, Renai, in 2004. In 2008, they made their major-label debut on Sony Music with the opening theme song to the TV anime Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler). Since then, they have regularly released albums and performed solo dome and stadium shows, establishing a solid career. However, due to health issues affecting Mao, the band stopped performing live in January 2022. A year later, this January, the band returned to the stage with an exclusive live show for members of their official fan club, a momentous start to their milestone 20th year.

“It was a really moving show. I think I’ll remember it for the rest of my life, because it allowed me to see our fans again after the pandemic and after struggling with my own health problems,” said Mao. “It felt like I’d faced two tremendous challenges at the same time. That’s why I didn’t want to look back, but instead to make sure that 10 or 20 years from now, if I looked back, I’d feel that I’d made the best use of those experiences. I hope that our fans also understood that during that time when we were apart, we’d been working hard and looking to the future.” Shinji added, “Despite how much time had passed, the groove we got into as a band was really fun. The way the drums and bass intertwined was better than ever, and then the guitar, which played over the top, had tremendous freedom, so playing was a blast. In songs like ‘Toge To Neko,’ the rhythm section really gets into a groove, so the guitar can do whatever it wants. It felt like I really went into my own world.”

Some of the members of the band have also been actively pursuing solo projects at the same time. Aki, SID’s songwriter and bassist, also performs vocals and writes the lyrics for his solo project. “During the time when SID wasn’t performing live, each of us was going in our own individual directions, but we were all continuing our music activities, and we all came back to where we belonged. I can’t pull the wool over our fans’ eyes, or their ears, so even during that gap, I polished my own skills because I knew that when I came back to SID, I’d need to perform better than ever. Otherwise I’d be putting the cart before the horse. I hope our fans were able to see the fruits of those efforts in SID’s January solo show.”

In April, SID will begin touring in support of their latest album, the long-awaited Umibe. Yuuya talked about his hopes for the tour. “We released Umibe a year ago. It’s unusual to go on tour for an album that fans have had so much time to really listen to. That’s why at our shows, we’ll need to go above and beyond simply playing the music. What’s more, it’s looking like the audience won’t be required to stay quiet during the show, so it’ll be a true return to form. Maybe starting the Umibe tour in April of this year was the best possible outcome all along. What we once took for granted has become a rarity, so that newfound freedom will make the show even more moving and powerful.”

In commemoration of SID’s 20th anniversary, the band has released the SID 20th Anniversary BOX, a 15 CD complete boxed compilation set that covers the band’s entire history. In addition to all of SID’s albums, from Renai to Umibe, it also includes the Side A complete collection CD of title track singles that don’t appear on any of their albums and the Side B complete collection CD of B-sides they have released since their major label debut. The boxed set also contains a Blu-ray disc with 40 music videos, a booklet with the lyrics to all of their songs, and more. The SID 20th Anniversary BOX lives up to its name, commemorating the band’s efforts through the years.

Mao talked about how the box set came to be. “What led to the decision is that we and the staff were talking about how it would be great if there were a box set that would let our fans look back and remember all of the different things we’ve released. CDs no longer sell well, so our team thought really hard about what kind of value we could add to CDs. I think we’ve come up with something pretty wonderful.”

So, looking back on SID’s 20 year history, what do the members see as having been the band’s turning points? “One of the things that immediately leaps to mind is our first album, Renai,” said Shinji. “We had so little time, we were rethinking melodies while on the train. Thinking back on it, I’m impressed by what we were able to achieve. It had a really homemade feel to it, but that’s what made it so priceless. You can really feel the blood, sweat, and tears we poured into it. Every time we make an album, we pack it with what we want to do as a band, but that comes across particularly strongly with our first album.”

Yuuya looked back on the band’s 15th anniversary, five years ago. “On our [My Favorite Place] tour, which we began right before our major label debut, we visited music clubs around the country, which is where we began as a band. We created a mini-album named My Favorite Place to share the message that these music clubs would always be special to us. We took a hiatus in 2016, too, but that just brought us even closer together when we released our fifth album, NOMAD, in 2017. The year after that was our 15th anniversary, and we really wanted to express our gratitude to our fans.”

Aki called SID’s newest album, Umibe, a turning point for the band. “We’ve been making music for 20 years, and I feel like we’ve gone beyond just brushing up our sound to also reflecting a certain humanity in our songs. We’re not so much striving to make the ‘perfect’ song, but instead to make songs that convey who we are. We don’t play along with a click track, but instead with each other, creating a live sound that could only come from us. It’s a more human, warmer sound.” It’s as if SID itself has become a living, breathing thing. “For example, in songwriting, sound arrangement is, to some extent, affected by modern trends. That’s not bad in and of itself. However, we’re now able to create sound arrangements that reflect who we are — that share the essence of SID. I’m looking forward to seeing what our future albums will be like.”

When SID first started, it was praised for its sound style, which infused rock with the essence of Japanese kayokyoku, the progenitor to modern J-pop. However, the band eventually stopped using this approach and began exploring a greater diversity of sounds. I asked them if they ever felt worried about sealing off their own individuality or strengths. “Not really. From the start, SID’s been a band in which each member brings their own musical tastes to the table, so we’ve created what came naturally based on how we felt at the time.” However, Mao also points out that they weren’t afraid of stagnating, either. “For example, up until about our second album, Hoshi No Miyako, we were really trying to become popular as a four-piece band, playing in clubs, but after we released our third album, play, we began a tour of larger performance halls. Our staff created sets and staging appropriate for large venues, and we realized just how much support our staff was providing. Them, and our audience. A good live performance isn’t something that you can create through your own efforts alone. It’s something that happens when you’ve also got great staff and great fans. I feel like this is something we were able to experience because of how we changed as a band, so I’m glad we’ve kept evolving.”

Having celebrated its 20th anniversary, SID is now beginning the next stage of its history. “I think we’ll continue to keep up with trends while at the same time pursuing our own originality,” said Yuuya. “It’s hard to put into simple words, but we’re in an age where we get direct feedback from our fans through social media, so I hope we can align the ‘SID-like’ elements our fans want with our own sense of what SID is all about to create a single, unified whole.” Mao continued, “The songs we wrote when we were young have a certain quality that can only come from youth, but on the flip side, I’ve been singing for twenty years, so there are songs that can only be performed by the me of today, songs that my younger self wouldn’t have been able to pull off. The same is true for lyrics. I want to be able to write deeper, more profound lyrics. Until now, I’ve drawn on my own stockpile of ideas to write lyrics that are packed with a sense of curiosity, but in the future I want to become a lyricist who can write more naturally, crafting lyrics that share my way of thinking and living. That’s why I’m always exposing myself to different types of music, film, and books, travelling, and enriching myself as a human being.” However, he continued, “I hope we’ll keep playing together for years to come, so I hope all four of us continue to enjoy good health and keep on having fun.”

Nick Cannon Makes the Rounds as the Easter Bunny for Several of His 12 Kids

Nick Cannon was quite the busy bunny on Sunday as he visited several of his children and their mothers for the Easter holiday.

The host of The Masked Singer donned his own Easter Bunny costume for the occasion to surprise his tots, including Zion Mixolydian, Zillion Heir and Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi; and Halo Marie with Alyssa Scott (see a pic here).

Meanwhile, Mariah Carey helped her own Easter Bunny hide a giant golden egg in the backyard for twins Moroccan and Monroe — though it was a markedly different bunny costume than the one her ex-husband donned in all the other photos on social media.

According to her Instagram Stories, LaNisha Cole spent Easter Sunday on the Santa Monica Pier with 6-month-old Onyx Ice and filmmaker Brian Paul Kuba. And Brittany Bell’s three kids — Golden Sagon, Powerful Queen and Rise Messiah — took their own adorable portraits with the Easter Bunny in their Sunday best, while Cannon shared a sweet snap of baby Rise in his own Easter basket.

While he shares 12 kids with six different women, Cannon recently opened up in a recent interview with The Shade Room that he wishes he had also had kids with his Love Don’t Cost a Thing co-star and ex-girlfriend Christina Milian, whom he dated from 2003 to 2005. In the very same chat, he referred to Carey — whom he was married to from 2008 to 2016 — as both a “gift from God” and “the coolest person I ever met.”

Howard Stern Is ‘Dumbfounded’ Over Kid Rock & Travis Tritt’s Transphobia

Howard Stern is speaking out following Kid Rock and Travis Tritt’s transphobic responses to trans activist Dylan Mulvaney teaming up with Anheuser-Busch to promote the brand’s Easy Carry Contest.

“I thought there must be a piece of this story that I’m missing,” the host said during his SiriusXM radio show on Monday (April 10). “I’m not bothered by gay people or transsexual people. They don’t impact my life, they don’t hurt my life. I love when people are in love. You wanna be a woman? Be a woman. You wanna be a dude, be a dude. Be whatever you f—ing want. As long as you ain’t hurting anybody, I’m on your team.”

Stern’s thoughts come a week after Rock posted a video to his social media accounts wearing a white MAGA hat. “Grandpa’s feeling a bit frisky today,” he shared, adding that he wants to make his message as “clear and concise as possible.” He then shot a semi-automatic rifle at three cases of Bud Light, telling the camera, “F— Bud Light, and f— Anheuser-Busch.”

Tritt, meanwhile, shared a series of tweets announcing that he would no longer be working with Anheuser-Busch and removing all of the company’s products from his tour hospitality rider. “I know many other artists who are doing the same,” the singer claimed.

“I wish I could call Kid Rock and have him come on the show and just tell me ‘Why are you so upset about this? How is it hurtful?’ I don’t know why he got so upset,” Stern continued. “Kid Rock, I know him. He’s got a great life. He transitioned from some kid in Michigan to a rock superstar! I’m really dumbfounded by why someone would care so much that they would blow up a can of Bud Light and say, ‘F— Anheuser-Busch.’ I don’t get it.”

Stern added that Rock himself is “flamboyant in his own way,” often wearing “a feather boa, maybe a mink coat” to his show when he would join as a guest. “I feel Kid Rock, his songs are all about living life the way you want, ‘I’m doing my thing man and f— you if you’re not with me,” he continued, then turning his thoughts to Tritt. “Travis Tritt’s statement was, ‘Other artists who are deleting Anheuser-Busch products from their hospitality rider might not say so in public for fear of being ridiculed and canceled. I have no such fear.’ I would like to interview the guy. I’m coming from a place of, ‘Why you care so much?’”

In a statement received by Billboard since the controversy, a Anheuser-Busch spokesperson said, “Anheuser-Busch works with hundreds of influencers across our brands as one of many ways to authentically connect with audiences across various demographics. From time to time we produce unique commemorative cans for fans and for brand influencers, like Dylan Mulvaney. This commemorative can was a gift to celebrate a personal milestone and is not for sale to the general public.”
