Pope Francis Dies at 88: J Balvin, Andrea Bocelli & More Pay Tribute | Billboard News

Pope Francis passed away on Monday, April 21, and musicians such as J Balvin and Andrea Bocelli have taken to social media to pay tribute to the pope.

What was your favorite memory of Pope Francis? Let us know in the comments below.

Narrator:
That’s J Balvin taking a selfie with the late, great Pope Francis in 2022, who passed on Monday, April 21. The Latin singer took to Instagram to pay his respects with a carousel of pictures highlighting the pope’s unique energy: “Always vibing high, tolerance and love.” Andrea Bocelli also took to IG, saying, “…what we feel for him is a gratitude of the deepest and most enduring kind.”

Pope Francis met with many musicians, like Bono, who spoke with him on climate change and social issues. Even Katy Perry was a fan, who in 2018 said: “I’m such a big fan of Pope Francis. It’s a combination of compassion, humility, sternness and refusal. He is a rebel — a rebel for Jesus.”

Carl Lamarre:
Yo, what’s going on? Y’all I’m deputy director of R&B and hip-hop, Mr. Carl Lamarre, and welcome to Billboard News In Conversation. We got a Grammy Award winner, R&B heavyweight, Mr. Miguel. My brother, how are you feeling?

Miguel:
I’m all right, man. How are you doing?

It’s a blessed day. It is a blessed day because we’re gonna do something special here. One of your albums has a special anniversary this year. All I Want Is You 15. What did that number mean to you? Because that’s a whole ninth-grade album I was telling you before.

It’s a journey, you know, you think about, you know how much time it took to get that album out, right? You know, on what it took to get there, just in terms of cycles and growth and challenges and failures and learning experiences, and then to kind of have all of the blessings in between that point and this point in my career. It’s beautiful. This is a trip, man.

Walk us back to when you met, of course, the big homie record, exact extraordinaire, Mark Pitts, because you played them some records, which I saw was originally meant for Usher and that dude was like, “Uh uh, we gonna keep this. We gonna keep Miguel. We gonna build.” Talk about that.

ENHYPEN:

Mic’s getting smaller, I swear. Pretty cute.

Tetris Kelly:

Look at you guys. Superstars!

For me, it was our first song, “Blockbuster” – the energy was unreal. We’re very excited to perform at Coachella. I feel like it’s going to be completely different to what we’ve done up until now. We know that a lot of fans that are going to be coming, there’s going to be other people that don’t even know about us, so we’re very excited to meet our fans, but also to really show everyone what we can do and let people listen to our music. This is the first time preparing this kind of long, except for our world tours or something. As you can see, we rented this space and we’ve been rehearsing with the band and dancers. We’ve been putting in a lot of hours. We’re really fully prepared and so excited for this big stuff for Coachella. We started preparing for Coachella about last month, so it’s been like one month. We’ve planned every single moment, every single object on the stage. It started from us, it started from our team. We’ve done a lot of practice, we went back and forth a lot of times choosing the setlist, choosing the music. There’s a lot of people, a lot of professionals in our company that’s just made it together with us, so really exciting, really fun moment for us.

Stay tuned for our All Access Tour Stop with ENHYPEN dropping later today!

What did you think of Coachella weekend 2? Let us know in the comments!

Tetris Kelly:

Tyla gets real about if her ‘Chella look was Britney-inspired, Gaga handles a mic issue like a pro, ENHYPEN announces a new era as we find the chillest spot in the desert. These are your Coachella weekend 2 highlights. Tyla heated things up at the festival over the weekend, and her wardrobe instantly had her compared to pop royalty Britney Spears. An X user posted: “Tyla’s outfit for Coachella is inspired by the icon Britney Spears.” Tyla responded: “Love her, but I just thought the outfit was fly… no inspo.”

Lady Gaga’s headset went out during her weekend 2 Friday night set, but fans were quick to point out her professionalism and how a dancer handed her a new mic, and she kept the show on the road. We spent part of our time at Coachella at the best place to catch the Quasar Stage at: the Red Bull Mirage. It had drinks, the best views, oh yeah, and Nobu.

And our boys ENHYPEN had everybody talking again Saturday night. At the end of the set, the Sahara screen revealed the name of their mini-album: ‘Desire: Unleash.’ It’s scheduled for release on June 5, and we also saw the words “Can’t touch you, but I’m gonna make you mine,” which has fans losing it. XG Takes on Coachella: Exclusive Tour Stop  | All Access | Billboard News

XG is lighting up Coachella again this weekend, and we’re taking you behind the scenes of how they prepped for the big night. From exclusive footage of them in rehearsals to an interview about what their favorite part of Coachella has been, keep watching for an exclusive sneak peek!

What did you think of XG’s performance? Let us know in the comments!

XG:

Hi, Billboard!

Tetris Kelly:

Who is the most fashion-forward in the group?

Me! Hi Billboard! I think we’re all just so excited to perform today. We’ve been waiting to perform on this amazing stage with beautiful, beautiful, amazing artists. So we’re just so grateful for this opportunity and in hopes that- we hope to kill it! We’re gonna kill it. Yeah for sure. I mean, it’s Coachella. So there’s stuff the seven of us thought up together, and of course there’s a ton that we talked through and came up with alongside our director, Sienna. There’s stuff she brought to the table, too. But I think, like by all of us creating one performance together, we’re able to really feel it and give it our all today, so yeah, I’m really looking forward to it. The song is called “IN THE RAIN,” and it’s this really emotional, R&B-heavy track that’s super important to us. And because it’s coming out right before Coachella, it feels like – how do I put it? – it’s helping us build up the momentum toward Coachella. That kind of energy is in there too. So I’d be really happy if tons of people watched it. I actually feel like a lot of people are watching it already!

What part of the show are you most excited for?

I can’t choose! Should we say it all together? It might be a little crazy.

Post Malone’s Road to Coachella | Billboard News

Post Malone is one of Coachella’s headliners for 2025, and we’re breaking down his journey to Coachella. Keep watching to learn more!

Tetris Kelly:
Post Malone is heading back to Coachella, but this time he’s a headliner! This isn’t Post’s first time at the fest — he performed back in 2018 and again in 2023 as a special guest during Bad Bunny’s set. But this time, we know Post won’t need help when he brings the jams to Sunday at Coachella. Don’t worry, we’re here to tell you everything  you need to know.

At this point, we think it’s safe to call Post Malone a Coachella veteran. His sound has evolved and changed since he last had a solo performance as he transitioned from a more hip-hop sound into country music. Post is breaking out the guitar, the spurs and the cowboy hat as he rocks out to hits from his latest album F-1 Trillion. F-1 Trillion features hits like “Pour Me a Drink” featuring Blake Shelton, “I Need Some Help” with Morgan Wallen, and “Guy for That” with Luke Combs. Here’s to hoping he brings out some guests to join in on the fun.

Post won’t have any time to rest because right after Coachella, he kicks off his American tour: Post Malone Presents: The Big Ass Stadium Tour. So get ready because 2025 is going to be the year of Post.

What special guests do you wanna see Post Malone bring out at Coachella? Let us know in the comments below.

Was Katy Perry’s Journey to Space Tone-Deaf? | Billboard News

Katy Perry went to space with Lauren Sanchez, Gayle King and others on a Blue Origin spacecraft. The public and celebrities alike shared their opinions about the women being sent to space. Keep watching to find out what some Billboard staffers had to say about the trip.

What do you think of Katy Perry going to space? Let us know in the comments.

Stefanie Tanaka:

If anyone out there has $150,000, then you can go to space too.

Tetris Kelly:

All right, so Billboard squad, five ladies went to space, but everybody seems to just be mad at Katy Perry. Are we mad? What’s going on?

Jerah Milligan:

I don’t care.

Stefanie Tanaka:

I can understand why people are mad. I don’t know if I feel that strongly about it.

Tetris Kelly:

Why? What are people upset about?

Stefanie Tanaka:

I mean, a lot of people, you know, times are tough right now. It doesn’t really like look super inspiring to see, like, super rich people just going into space.

Ciara Zimring:

It’s not giving what they think it’s giving. They think it’s giving inspiring, sending a bunch of women to space, but it’s giving more sending a bunch of rich people in space, as opposed to actual female astronauts that should be sent up.

Stefanie Tanaka:

Yeah, yeah.

Ciara Zimring:

That would give more.

Stefanie Tanaka:

It’s like, it’s cool for, like, the aesthetics of it, like to see a group of women, women of color, going into space. Like, it looks good as a photo-

Jerah Milligan:

As a photo.

Stefanie Tanaka:

But it’s like, this was all funded by Jeff Bezos. They wouldn’t be going up there without him. If this is Elon Musk, people would be reacting the same way. All these billionaires are obsessed with going to space because they’re gonna leave this planet completely f—ed

Tetris Kelly:

Stefanie’s mad.

Stefanie Tanaka:

They’re going to go up there the minute this planet goes to hell because of climate change.

Tetris Kelly:

I mean, and I think the funny part to me is that you have, like, this inspirational moment, but then I feel like the whole time I watched Gayle be a part of this, she was looking scared. She didn’t even want to go. And she’s like, why am I here? How did I get on this spacecraft?
