But that’s not all, she announced her new album, ‘143,’ will drop September 20th. But there’s more pop excellence on the way. Kylie Minogue teased a new song on X. And if you checked out Bebe Rexha and Tove Lo’s accounts, you’d see they answered mom’s call. The three are teaming up for ‘MY OH MY’ also out tonight. They aren’t the only pop trio on the way. No, Paris & Meghan did not recruit Jason Derulo for their new song, but they did get Sia to produce Paris’ album. “Chasin’” is due July 26th. Is Ye Retiring From Music? | Billboard News

According to an alleged text message exchange between Ye and Rich the Kid, Ye may be retiring from professional music. Keep watching for all the details!

Tetris Kelly:

Ye says he’s quitting music, but can his collab partner convince him not to? Rich the Kid posted a text conversation he allegedly had with Ye where the rapper, formerly known as Kanye West, said he’s “retiring from professional music” and that he “didn’t know what else to do.” Rich the Kid protested saying the kids need him and said he and Ty Dolla $ign made the biggest stamp on culture in 2024. While we don’t know if Ye is really giving up on the music biz for good, he has three features on Rich the Kids album, “Life’s A Gamble,” which drops next Friday. Also Ye and Ty announced a listening event for their joint projects next month in Korea. So we’ll just have to wait and see if Ye is really done, done.

Grupo Firme Takes Billboard Behind the Scenes of Their La Ultima Peda Tour | Billboard News

Grupo Firme takes Billboard behind the scenes of their La Ultima Peda Tour. The Mexican group shares what they’re hoping to achieve with this concert, their upcoming collaboration with Demi Lovato and what it was like to record their song, the impact of Regional Mexican music on Latin music and more!

Ingrid Fajarado:
The last party with Billboard and …

Grupo Firme:
Grupo Firme!!!

Eduin Caz:
It’s not our last tour. The reason for the title of The Last Party is that the last party never really happens. I think this time around in this last year we took a sabbatical year, we could call it that. I feel like everything is in good harmony and it has, and it has to keep flowing like this because, in reality, this tour is for that, to just go with the flow. I’m explaining myself correctly?!? But I want to enjoy it one day at a time. I finish my show and the next day if I want to take my mom shopping, because my mom is in the hotel right now, I bring her everywhere, I bring my children, you get it right? I bring my whole family, and if my bandmates want to be with their families two or three days before, do it. There’s nothing I’ll do about it.

We are in Miami because we have a show this weekend, we had a couple of interview, we all got to hangout together. We just all got to hangout together.

Jhonny Caz:
We had some interviews with some networks that get filmed here in Miami.

Interviewer:
I saw one of the interviews and was intrigued about what you said in the interview about a collaboration that you are doing.

Eduin Caz:
Yes, there’s a collaboration with Demi Lovato.

Interviewer:
Very good.

Drake Loses a Soccer Bet & Is Reportedly Working On New Music | Billboard News

Drake loses a $300,000 bet on the Copa America Canada versus Argentina game, and is reportedly working on new music. Keep watching for the details!

Tetris Kelly:
Drake gets trolled by a soccer team while he’s apparently working on new music. WOP WOP WOP WOP WOP: Argentina beat Canada in the Copa America semi-final on Tuesday, and Drake was bold enough to post he bet $300,000 on Canada winning. Can I borrow some of that? Argentina took notice and trolls certified loverboy posting, “Not like us, not with us,” with the team celebrating.

Hopefully Drake has something to celebrate soon. His boy Akademics is riding hard on X, posting, “All u ***** who been acting like Drake finished… bookmark this tweet for 6 months from now. We don’t want u ****** no where near us…… Remember that.” Adding “and yes.. enjoy all the other noise and bs.. Drake new music otw. and its fye…. trust.”

Do you think Drake is ready for a comeback after the Kendrick Lamar KO? Let us know in the comments.

Can Anyone Top Post Malone & Morgan Wallen’s ‘I Had Some Help’ as the 2024 Song of the Summer?

Is the 2024 Song of the Summer race already over or just getting started?

On the new Billboard Pop Shop Podcast, Katie & Keith are talking about who will end this summer atop our Songs of the Summer chart. Post Malone‘s “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, has ruled Songs of the Summer since the chart returned in late May, but does it have some current competition that could take the lead? Or maybe a song that hasn’t even been released yet?

We consulted our Billboard colleagues Gary Trust (managing director, charts and data operations) and Jason Lipshutz (executive director, music and founding Pop Shop Podcast co-host) for their insight. They offer up what the strongest contenders are and also do some wishful thinking about how the rest of the summer could play out.

To hear what they had to say and Katie & Keith’s full discussion, check out the brand-new episode below:

Julia Fox:

I was that lesbian. So, sorry boys!

Pride month may be over, but Julia Fox is our and proud!

Ye’s ex let her followers on TikTok know that she’s done with men. The multi-hyphenate who has a child with her ex-husband, Peter Artemiev, has never been shy to talk about her sexuality, like she did on Showtime’s Ziwe.

Julia Fox:

I have a gay bone and I need to explore that more. Like, maybe my ex-boyfriends weren’t wrong when they called me a lesbian and complaining that I never wanted to have sex with them.

Congrats to Julia on being her authentic self, and here’s to having a brat summer!

Tetris Kelly:
LISA’s set to make her first solo festival appearance, while Jennie apologizes for vaping. Here’s what the women of BLACKPINK are up to.

LISA just earned her first Global 200 excluding the U.S. No. 1 with “ROCKSTAR,” and now she’s heading to New York. Lalisa will join the likes of Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, Post Malone and Rauw Alejandro when she takes the stage as a headliner at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park on Sept. 28.

And while we love her new solo hit, it was nice to see LISA reunite with Rosé on TikTok. More BLACKPINK reunions please!

Meanwhile, Jennie issued an apology after some fans were outraged by a video of her vaping. In the YouTube vlog, Jennie was seen vaping while in hair and makeup, which has now been removed from the video. Her agency released a statement saying in part, “Jennie acknowledges and deeply regrets her mistake of vaping indoors and causing inconvenience to the staff. Jennie has personally apologized to all the staff on-site who may have been affected.”

Do you think she needed to apologize? Let us know in the comments.

Joaquina Shares 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Her | Billboard

Joaquina shares 5 Things You Didn’t Know about her, including insight on her first album and her single, “pesimista.”

Joaquina:

Hi friends, I’m Joaquina and these are five thing you may not know about me. Number one, my favorite food is pasta and milanesa, in no specific order. Separate, together, whatever, in any form, made any way, any preparation, always. Number two, the last song I released is called “pesimista,” but it’s actually a love song. And I think it’s a bit of an ironic title, but I thought it was funny to name it that on purpose. Number three, I think I have very poor time management and I’m trying to get better at that. I have learned to do my makeup anywhere possible, the bathroom, the car, on the street, in a dumpster, in a restaurant. No mirror? Doesn’t matter, I’ll use my cell phone camera. No cell phone camera? Doesn’t matter, I’ll use my imagination. You have to problem solve and here we are. In fact, I think my eyeliner is the only thing in my life that I do fast, that’s the truth. Number four, I am making my first album and the whole process has me feeling absolutely crazy, in every sense of the word, crazy with love, but also crazy because I am very obsessive when I write and my brain never stops thinking about the songs. And I think all the songs on the album were written in hotel rooms, in my room, in airplanes, in cabs, in cars, I think in everywhere but a studio.

John Summit’s ‘Comfort In Chaos’ Debut Album, Relationship With Kaskade & More | Billboard News

John Summit’s been selling out arenas like Madison Square Garden, and we had the opportunity to talk to him about his latest album ‘Comfort In Chaos,’ his relationship with Kaskade, closing out EDC 2024 with childhood idol, Green Velvet, being accepted by the house music scene in Chicago and more!

John Summit:

The only way to get people to not say your name is by doing nothing, is by saying nothing.

Katie Baine:

Exactly.

John Summit:

And I do not want to choose that route. Hi, I’m John Sumit and you’re watching Billboard News.

Katie Baine:

We have a lot to talk about yeah cuz you’re a busy man. Tell me about closing out EDC and playing with Green Velvet and what that moment was like for you.

John Summit:

That was like absolutely surreal, like Green Velvets been my childhood hero for you know, ever Since I started listening to house music, when he came out with “Percolator” like the year I was born. 1994, which is crazy. And then yeah, closing out EDC which is like, if you like every DJ stream, I think it was like 150,000 people in the crowd so… Which is weird like I thought I’d be nervous walking up. It’s like so many that like he kind of like your mind can’t even process and we just played it like a straight up Chicago house set and people liked it. So we’re happy.

Katie Baine:

Did I catch you crying for a minute there? At the end.

John Summit:

It got a little emotional.

Katie Baine:

Okay well tell me what was going on through your mind or like your your emotions at that moment? Because that’s a big deal.

John Summit:

I mean, I closed out the festival with “Go Back,” which is my new single with Sub Focus and Julia Church, you know. The writing behind it is you know, when I hear that sound…

Keep watching for more!
