From the look of things it seems like Marvel’s latest film The Marvels is going to struggle something serious as it’s pre-sales for movie tickets trail those of both The Flash and Black Adam, which both went on to bomb ridiculously at the box office.

Still, Marvel Studios is hoping to build some buzz for the film which is slated to release this Friday (November 10) and in their latest trailer give fans something to look forward to in the form of a surprise cameo. No, it’s not any X-Men as has been rumored for weeks, nor is it Thor as many have suspected as well, but it is an Asgardian that has endeared herself to fans over the past few years.

In the final trailer for The Marvels, we get a glimpse of Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie who seems to be giving Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel a pep-talk before going into battle with the film’s protagonist, Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton). While we don’t know if Valkyrie will actually take up arms, at least we know she’ll be doing some talking in what may be the biggest bomb that Marvel Studios has put out to date.
Still, fans are indeed holding out hope that with incursions being a big theme of this film, that rumors of an X-Men cameo or even Galactus making an appearance come to fruition. We doubt it, but regardless we’re sure hardcore day-one Marvel fans will be heading to theaters just in case any of these rumors do come true.
Check out the final trailer for The Marvels below and let us know if you’ll be checking this out when it hits theaters this Friday in the comment section below.

After years of churning out successful box office films and raking in billions of dollars, Marvel Studios is in allegedly crisis mode and not only because some of their recent films and TV shows have been struggle, but because Jonathan Major’s legal woes don’t seem to be going away anytime soon.

According to Variety, the higher-ups at Marvel Studios are panicking about where their future is going to be headed as their hardcore fanbase have begun to lose interest in their film content and the legal consequences that the star of their next few Avengers films, Jonathan Major, remains murky as he’s still set to stand trial for domestic violence later this month. After being anointed the next big Marvel villain as Kang The Conqueror for Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Majors found himself in major trouble after his girlfriend accused him of putting hands on her earlier this year.

After the incident became public, other people who’ve worked with Majors and/or dated him came out with their own negative stories about the ascending Hollywood star which led to rumors that Marvel was going to recast the role of Kang The Conqueror to avoid negative publicity. Still, Majors remains a part of the MCU but with the recent disappointing films releases and Disney+ shows, it seems like some drastic measures are going to be taken to revamp the struggling franchise and Majors might actually be out of a job sooner or later.
Variety reports:
“Marvel is truly fucked with the whole Kang angle,” says one top dealmaker who has seen the final “Loki” episode. “And they haven’t had an opportunity to rewrite until very recently [because of the WGA strike]. But I don’t see a path to how they move forward with him.”
Beyond the bad press for Majors, the brain trust at Marvel is also grappling with the November release of “The Marvels,” a sequel to 2019’s blockbuster “Captain Marvel” that has been plagued with lengthy reshoots and now appears likely to underwhelm at the box office.
Yeah, The Marvels looks like it’s going to bomb at the box office but you never know.
Because of how dire things are looking at the current moment, ideas have been thrown around to revive interest in the MCU including cutting Kang out of the MCU and bringing in Dr. Doom for the next few Avengers films and even actually bringing back the OG Avengers to life including Iron Man, Black Widow and Captain America (who’s still alive, but in another time).
With Iger publicly acknowledging the downside of a Marvel TV glut that “diluted focus and attention,” the keepers of the comic book empire are considering some dramatic moves. Sources say there have been talks to bring back the original gang for an “Avengers” movie. This would include reviving Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, both of whom were killed off in “Endgame.” (That shouldn’t be a stumbling block — in comic books, beloved characters are often killed off, only to be resurrected thanks to the power of things like the multiverse.) But the studio hasn’t yet committed to the idea — if it were able to bring those actors back, it wouldn’t come cheap. Sources say Downey Jr.’s upfront salary for “Iron Man 3” was around $25 million.

Yeah, we’d definitely sign up for the return of the OG Avengers. It was all downhill for the MCU after Iron Man bit the dust and Captain America dipped to find love and happiness in the 1940’s.
Still, how this all unfolds is anyone’s guess as their has been talks of the MCU getting a reboot at the end of The Avengers: Secret Wars which will lead to a new MCU which will feature The Avengers along with The X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spider-Man all in the same reality. Should be interesting to see what Marvel Studios does going forward though as they have their work cutout for them to once again reign at the box office as they did in their heyday.
What do y’all think Marvel should do with their struggling franchises? Let us know in the comments section below.

Day 3 of New York Comic Con 2023 came and went; you guessed it, there was more cosplay to take in.
The rain and fall temperatures didn’t stop cosplayers from showing up in droves to the Jacob K. Javits Center on Saturday, October 14.
Keeping that same energy from Day 1 and Day 2, blerds and nerds came together to celebrate geek culture. It’s a known fact amongst the  NYCC faithful that cosplayers usually save their best cosplay drip for the weekend, and that continues to be the case.
On Friday, we were stuck in the Spider-Verse with plenty of takes of arguably Marvel’s most popular superhero in the building. Saturday saw more Spideys, but his foes took centerstage this time, like Spot from Across The Spider-Verse.

Another Across The Spider-Verse “villain” who showed up was Miles Morales as The Prowler. We strongly lean toward this take on the character as our favorite cosplay from the day.

Marvel Was Everywhere At New York Comic Con
Other Marvel characters we spotted were Jane Foster as Thor, a spin on Wolverine in a tuxedo, another Spidey villain, Mysterio, Mile’s homie and possible love interest Spider-Gwen, Bishop from the X-Men (pictured at the top of the post), Namor from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and, of course, Loki variants.

Day 4 is underway, and if you are at The Javits Center, enjoy all the cosplay and scoop all the collectibles you can.
We will be back next year, but until then, you can see more cosplay photos in the gallery below.

It’s a busy week on Billboard’s Cast Albums chart (dated Sept. 30), as the original cast recordings of StarKid’s Nerdy Prudes Must Die., Disney and Marvel’s Rogers: The Musical and the world-premiere complete studio cast recording of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! debut at Nos. 1, 2 and 8 respectively. Meanwhile, New York, New York: A New Musical re-enters at No. 4 (a new peak) after its release on CD.

With the arrivals at Nos. 1, 2 and 8 on Cast Albums, it’s the first time at least three albums have debuted in the top 10 in the same week in more than four years. It last happened on the June 22, 2019-dated list, when the original Broadway cast recordings of Beetlejuice and Tootsie launched at Nos. 2 and 6, while the 2019 Broadway cast recording of Kiss Me, Kate! bowed at No. 8.

Billboard’s Cast Albums chart ranks the top-selling musical cast recordings of the week in the U.S., based on traditional album sales, as tracked by Luminate.

Nerdy Prudes Must Die. is “a teen slasher comedy about a group of geeks and their ghostly tormentor.” The show, with music and lyrics by Jeff Blim, had a brief run at the El Portal Theater in North Hollywood, Calif. in February. It’s the third No. 1 on the Cast Albums chart for the StarKid production team, following Black Friday (in 2020) and Starship (2011). In total, Nerdy Prudes is the 17th charting effort on Cast Albums from StarKid, with 13 having reached the top 10. StarKid’s first entry on the tally was Me and My Dick, which peaked at No. 11 in 2010.

Rogers: The Musical – an abridged version of the life of the first Avenger, Captain America (aka Steve Rogers) – had a limited run at Disney California Adventure Park’s Hyperion Theater in Anaheim, Calif. from June 30-Aug. 31. Rogers’new original songs were written by composer Christopher Lennertz, with lyrics by Jordan Peterson, Lennertz and Alex Karukas. The new tunes were joined by earlier-penned songs like “Save the City” (music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman) and “Star-Spangled Man” (by Alan Menken and David Zeppel).

Rogers: The Musical is the first cast recording from a Disney Parks-presented stage show to chart on Billboard’s 17-year-old Cast Albums ranking. Previous musical shows staged at the Hyperion include Frozen: Live at the Hyperion (2016-20) and Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular (2003-16). (The Broadway versions of Aladdin and Frozen saw their companion cast recordings hits Nos. 1 and 2 on the Cast Albums chart.)

Both Nerdy Prudes Must Die. and Rogers: The Musical were only available to purchase as digital download albums. The third debut in the Cast Album chart’s top 10, the new studio cast recording of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!, was available as a download and on CD and vinyl.

The studio cast recording of Oklahoma! was released by Chandos Records and is the first recording to boast the complete score performed with Robert Russell Bennett’s original orchestrations. Oklahoma! was the first musical written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, and it premiered on Broadway in 1943. It was later adapted into a film in 1955, which won two Academy Awards and launched a soundtrack that spent four weeks atop Billboard’s Best Selling Popular Albums chart in 1956. Oklahoma! has been revived on Broadway four times, most recently in 2019, when it won two Tony Awards, including best revival of a musical.

Finally, the original Broadway cast recording of New York, New York: A New Musical, re-enters Cast Albums at No. 4, having previously spent one week on the list at No. 7 (on the July 8-dated chart). The album returns to the list following its Sept. 15 release on CD, as the set was only previously available to purchase as a digital download. New York, New York played for three months at the St. James Theatre in New York earlier in 2023 and garnered nine Tony Award nominations, winning one for best scenic design of a musical.

Rogers: The Musical will see its cast recording album hit digital retailers and streaming services on Friday, Sept. 15 from Walt Disney Records, Billboard can exclusively reveal.
The 12-track set is the companion album to the stage show of the same name, which played for two months this past summer at Disney California Adventure Park’s Hyperion Theater in Anaheim, Calif. (See below for the tracklist to the album as well as a preview of the set’s “What You Missed.”)

The mini-musical – from the creative teams at Disney and Marvel – brings to life an abridged version of the life of the first Avenger, Captain America (aka Steve Rogers), alongside singing-and-dancing Avengers (including Nick Fury!). The one-act show – which boasts a range of musical styles – premiered June 30 for a limited run at the nearly 2,000-seat theme park venue, and closed on Aug. 31. No further presentations of the stage show have been announced.

The musical grew out of a sequence in an episode of the Disney+ series Hawkeye in 2021. In the episode, the title character (an Avenger himself) attends a showing of Rogers: The Musical, and the song “Save the City” is performed by characters playing Avengers. Both the musical and “Save the City” became fan favorites, with the latter generating over 1 million on-demand official streams in the U.S., according to Luminate.

Presently, the Rogers: The Musical cast album will only be commercially available as a digital download album and via streaming services. There’s no word on if it will be released in any physical formats, such as CD, vinyl or cassette.

Following the premiere of Rogers: The Musical at the Hyperion, the show’s composer, conductor and arranger Christopher Lennertz said, “[It] was really important to all of us … to give everyone — both musical theater fans and superhero fans — something they would love about the music. And the fact that we get to span 70 years and do everything from ‘40s-style big band jazz to a singer/songwriter style pop tune and obviously the Nick Fury patter song meets ‘Uptown Funk’ — it’s the idea of giving everyone something that they can grab onto and really feel like it’s part of their story too.”

With the MCU teetering on the edge of irrelevancy (sad but true), Marvel is hoping to get back on track with this year’s holiday Marvel installment. And it looks like it can be a bit of a gamble.

Last night, Marvel Studios dropped their latest trailer to their latest superhero adventure, The Marvels, which stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel. In the latest trailer we finally get to see who the three-woman team will be taking on as they become familiar with The Annihilators and their Kree General, Dar-Benn.

As powerful as she is, Captain Marvel seems like she could be a bit overmatched when taking on Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton) who isn’t just all-powerful but also seems to be the reason why the three superheroes tend to switch places whenever they use their powers. Luckily, the super trio are dedicated to working together to end this latest threat and with the help of Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and a bunch of space cats, things might end up working out in their favor. The Avengers might also get some new members added to their roster.
Check out the latest trailer for Marvel Studio’s The Marvels below, and let us know if you’ll be checking for this when it hits theaters Nov. 10 in the comments section below.

It’s official, de Bleck Pantha is getting his own standalone video game.
Wakanda Forever!
On the heels of the 57th anniversary of the Black Panther’s Marvel Comics’ debut, Monday, July 10, Cliffhanger Games, a new studio, is working on a third-person video game for the iconic superhero.
Reports of T’Challa’s standalone video game adventure first hit the internet in July 2022. Now we know the new triple-A development studio based in Seattle is up to delivering a Black Panther video game that will hopefully be up in the ranks with other Marvel video games like Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and criminally slept on Guardians of The Galaxy.

Per Marvel, the studio’s mission “is to build an expansive and reactive world that empowers players to experience what it is like to take on the mantle of Wakanda’s protector, the Black Panther.”
Development on the game will be led by Kevin Stephens (Monolith Productions), with a team full of talent who worked on popular titles like Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Halo Infinite, God of War, Call of Duty, and others.
“We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich Super Hero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do,” said Stephens.
Cliffhanger Games & Marvel Are Working Closely Together On Black Panther
When it comes to comic book IP, fans are demanding to please because they expect either the movies, original series, or games to meet the standards of the comics.
Smith ensures they will hit that mark, confirming Cliffhanger Games and Marvel have been working closely together on the game, stating “to ensure that we craft every aspect of Wakanda, its technology, its heroes, and our own original story with the attention to detail and authenticity that the world of Black Panther deserves.”
He continues, “It’s an incredibly rare opportunity to build a new team around the values of diversity, collaboration, and empowerment,” said Kevin. “We want our game to enable players to feel what it’s like to be worthy of the Black Panther mantle in unique, story-driven ways, and we want Cliffhanger Games to empower everyone on our team as we collaborate to bring this amazing world to life.”
Reception To The News
Unsurprisingly, fans are happy to hear about Black Panther officially getting a video game. Take that superhero fatigue. We got a taste of what it’s like to control King T’Challa in Crystal Dynamic’s disappointing Marvel’s Avengers in a well-received War For Wakanda expansion.
There is also the news of the mysterious Captain America and Black Panther video game.
If we have any concerns, we want to see all of the Black and Brown video game development talent working on this title, and it’s only fitting. Now when it comes to that, the pickings are slim. We know that we are not naive, but they are out there, and to see concerted effort would be very much appreciated.
So far, it looks like Cliffhanger Games is on the right track. Jercye Dianingana, a 3D Senior Environment Artist II at Cliffhanger Games, was happy to reveal he was working on the Black Panther game.

We love to see it because we are rooting for everyone Black. ALWAYS!

If you ever wanted to see the Avengers’ Captain America and Nick Fury sing and dance their way through a mini-musical about Cap’s life, well, it’s time to head to Disneyland.
Disney and Marvel have teamed up for Rogers: The Musical, a half-hour stage show at Disney California Adventure’s Hyperion Theater in Anaheim, Calif., that premiered on Friday (June 30).

The new one-act show – which is full of goofy humor and a range of musical styles – grew out of a brief sequence in an episode of the Disney+ series Hawkeye in 2021. In the show, the title character (an Avenger himself, played by Jeremy Renner) attends a showing of Rogers: The Musical, and the song “Save the City” is performed by characters playing Avengers. Both the musical and “Save the City” became fan favorites, with the latter generating just over 1 million on-demand official streams in the U.S., according to Luminate.

Billboard got a sneak peek at the new production the day before its premiere, which was followed by a panel discussion with the show’s creative team.

“We were like every fan,” said Dan Fields, executive creative director, Disney Live Entertainment during the panel. “We saw [‘Save the City’] and said, ‘I want to see the rest of it! I want to see all of Rogers: The Musical!’ But then we realized, ‘Hey, we’re Disney Live Entertainment, we can do that!’ So that’s what we set out to do.”

Fans will be happy to know: “Save the City” appears in full in the real-world Rogers: The Musical production, along with seven other musical numbers.

Rogers: The Musical is scheduled to run through Aug. 31 at Disney California Adventure. It’s the first show at the nearly 2,000-seat Hyperion in more than three years, since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down its previous production, Frozen – Live at the Hyperion, on March 14, 2020. Nothing has been announced by Disney if Rogers: The Musical will be staged in other Disney Parks or properties (such as Disney Cruise Line).

In Rogers: The Musical, we follow Steve “Captain America” Rogers over 70-plus years – from his origin as a scrawny soldier-turned-beefy superhero in the 1940s through his teaming with the rest of the Avengers and his long-simmering love story with Peggy Carter. The show’s book was written by Hunter Bell, while Christopher Lennertz is the musical’s composer, conductor and arranger.

“[It] was really important to all of us, [show creator and director] Jordan [Peterson] and Hunter and I … to give everyone — both musical theater fans and superhero fans — something they would love about the music,” Lennertz said. “And the fact that we get to span 70 years and do everything from ‘40s-style big band jazz to a singer/songwriter style pop tune and obviously the Nick Fury patter song meets ‘Uptown Funk’ — it’s the idea of giving everyone something that they can grab onto and really feel like it’s part of their story too.”

The Nick Fury patter song Lennertz calls out is the tune “What You Missed,” in which Fury explains – through song and dance – to a just-awakened Rogers (who has been asleep for 70 years but hasn’t aged) what’s happened over the last seven decades.

Dave Bushore, vice president of franchise creative and marketing, Marvel Studios, recalled during the panel a memorable moment when he and Fields presented a preliminary version of Rogers: The Musical to Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios.

Bushore said, “We’re sitting in Kevin’s office, me and Dan…” Fields: “And Kevin says, ‘Nick Fury sings? That should be on the billboard!’ He said, ‘Embrace that, lean into that!’”

In addition to the show’s songs, theatergoers will be treated to pre-show music piped in from an onstage radio. It plays period-appropriate jazzy tunes, including a song that references “Elias & Co.,” a store inside Disney California Adventure, named after Walt Disney’s middle name, Elias. There’s no word on if any of the music from the show (including the pre-show selections) will be released commercially or through streaming services.

With Rogers: The Musical bringing a stage show back to the Hyperion after more than three years, it’s another way visitors to the park – often young fans – will get to experience live musical theater, perhaps for the first time.

“For a lot of people who come to our parks, they may not have had a lot of experience coming to theater — to traditional theater,” said Fields. “But here’s an opportunity to combine a love of theater with a love of superheroes right here in a theme park. This is a real show for families, whether you already knew the story of Steve Rogers or not. So hopefully everyone’s found something to enjoy in the show.”

For a while now it’s been said that the sequel to Captain Marvel would be a team-up between Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel), Monica Rambeau (Photon) and Kamala Kahn (Ms. Marvel). Sure enough, the first trailer for the upcoming The Marvels confirms that the film will be a crossover event involving the three superheroes.

Picking up where the season finale to Disney+’s Ms. Marvel left off, the trailer finds Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) switching bodies with both Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) and Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) much to the astonishment of one, Nick Fury. Looking to make sense of how Kamala is able to pull off such a feat, Fury and Rambeau pay Khan and her family a visit which provides some comedic hijinks that’s sure to be a big part of the upcoming film.

Knowing they have to work together to save the world from the latest villain that’s threatening it, Danvers and Rambeau reluctantly form a trio with the young Khan who’s more than excited to be joining forces with her idol and newfound teammate. So far Marvel Studios has been tightlipped about the actual plot of the film and who the main villain will be. Unfortunately for fans, the trailer doesn’t provide any intel or even clues as to who the super-powered trio will be taking on.
What the trailer does showcase is that the film seems to be taking on the humorous and family-driven tone that made Ms. Marvel a fan-favorite series that got bombed by right-wing trolls who had a problem with superhero series starring a female Muslim as the titular character. Oh well.
