The Mario & Luigi franchise has been a fan favorite since its first game in 2003. And now more than 20 years later, the Mario & Luigi role-playing game series comes to a big TV with the Nintendo Switch, which is the first time fans can play one of these games on a home console. However, you can still play it on-the-go since the Switch is also a portable handheld device.

‘Mario & Luigi: Brothership’
Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood takes place on the high seas in the world of Concordia, as the two brothers travel from island to island on their trusty ship, Shipshape. Mario and Luigi must connect the broken pieces of Concordia’s islands back together again in a series of platforming, strategy and turn-based role-playing action.
In our playthrough, we found the game to be challenging yet fun as you start to discover Concordia through its islands and creatures. The mechanics of the game can be tough to pick up at first, but if you’re familiar with the role-playing genre, then it should be easier. However, if this is your first time playing a Mario & Luigi game, then there could be a slight learning curve for strategy and precision gameplay; there’s no button-mashing with this game.
As for the game’s music, video-game fans will be happy to see Hideki Sakamoto as Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood’s composer. Sakamoto has created some of the most iconic and memorable themes from games such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Shinobido: Way of the Ninja, the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games and others.
Retailing for $59.99 and available for purchase at Target, Walmart and Amazon, Mario & Luigi: Brothership is out now. In the meantime, watch the overview trailer for the game, below:

Super Mario Party Jamboree
Release date: Oct. 17
As for the game itself, Super Mario Party Jamboree is a multi-player game with up to four players that features more than 110 mini-games across seven boards with 22 playable characters. It also introduces two online modes with rooms up to 20 players (via Nintendo Switch Online).
In our play through, we found Super Mario Party Jamboree to be loads of fun, especially in multi-player mode, with bright animations and a massive amount of characters to pick (our tester played as Shy Guy and Mario throughout the game). While it is still a good game to play in single-player mode, this game, at its core, is a party game and meant to be played with a group of friends and family.
Additionally, the “Koopathlon” online play gives you a dose of friendly competition with gamers from around the world, while the “Bowser Kaboom Squad” online challenge give you an opportunity to work together with someone in a shared goal.
One of the most fun minigames in the collection is “Rhythm Kitchen,” a new musical game show. Players cut veggies and fruits to the beat of the music to create tasty dishes and become a superstar chef in the game.

The role-playing game has elements of turn-based combat with up to three characters, while it was heavily influenced by Final Fantasy, but in an isometric 3D platform game. Think of Super Mario RPG as Nintendo’s version of Final Fantasy, but with Mario and the Mushroom Kingdom.
