A24 revealed the first look at its upcoming slasher threequel MaXXXine on Monday, starring Mia Goth and Halsey.

“The life she deserves #MaXXXine,” the studio tweeted alongside a still of Goth’s Maxine walking beneath the bright harsh and garish lights of Hollywood in the 1980s alongside Halsey’s character, whose name has yet to be revealed. (The pop star does, however, sport a black pixie cut and floor-length fur coat as she side-eyes Maxine in the photo.)

Contrary to her Little House on the Prairie-esque look from Ti West’s two previous films in the X trilogy — 2022’s X and Pearl — Goth’s murderous Hollywood hopeful has traded her brunette braids and prairie dresses for a tousled blonde mane and iridescent green windbreaker.

Set for release sometime later this year, MaXXXine will conclude the trilogy imagined by West. X tells the story of Maxine, an aspiring adult film star who became embroiled in a violent murder on the 1979 set of her friends’ pornographic movie, which they’re filming on a desolate Texas ranch owned by an elderly couple named Pearl and Howard. The movie’s prequel, Pearl, featured Goth playing the younger version of the eponymous character from the first film in her 1918 origin story. (The series contains heavy homages to the likes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.)

Along with Halsey, MaXXXine will also star Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito and Kevin Bacon.

Billboard News’ Tetris Kelly caught up with the guys of ENHYPEN and talked about their upcoming mini album ‘DARK BLOOD’. Shenseea reveals her favorite Jamaican Slang Halsey and Alev Aydin have spit, the couple’s decision to break up was “amicable,” according to sources. And more!

After more than three years of dating, Halsey and Alev Aydin are parting ways, Billboard can confirm.

The couple’s decision to break up was “amicable,” according to sources and they are committed to healthily co-parenting their one-year-old son Ender.

In documents obtained by Billboard, the 28-year-old “Without Me” singer filed a petition earlier this month to request primary physical custody of the couple’s child. In the documents, Halsey is asking to have joint legal custody of the child with Aydin, and the writer/producer to be granted visitation rights. Sources explained that the filing was simply a “formality” to allow Halsey to freely travel with their son as a touring artist.

Halsey surprised fans in early 2021 when they revealed that she was pregnant, tagging Aydin in the post, also confirming their romance. “Alev and I have been really good friends for four years. And when the stars aligned, our relationship became romantic and it was pretty evident that he and I were both like, ‘Oh, my gosh! You’re the person I’m supposed to start a family with,’” the singer previously told Allure. “Nobody knew I was dating someone. As if people were entitled to an update, like, ‘I’ve met someone, we’re going on dates, it’s getting serious, they’ve moved in, we’re planning a child, we are having a baby, we had a baby, this is the gender….’”

Aydin was also tapped to write the movie about Halsey’s life that was announced in 2018, and Halsey revealed that the biopic was postponed on Twitter, writing, “Bc alev was supposed to be writing it the past 3 years and we slowly fell in love instead. you know the rest!”

Halsey is teaming up with Hard Rock live to perform reimagined versions of their songs for a good cause.

“i’m playing a handful of intimate venues with a string ensemble this summer,” she tweeted on Friday (April 14), adding that donations and proceeds for the show will benefit two LGBTQIA+ focused organizations. Outright International advocates for human rights and equality for LGBTQIA+ people, and invests in the community as well as allies around the world to produce cultural, social and legal change. Human Rights Campaign aims to ensure all LGBTQ+ people — and particularly those who are trans, people of color or HIV positive — are treated as equal citizens around the world. In addition, the events will also benefit Hard Rock Heals, which provides assistance to health and wellness, disaster relief, humanitarian causes and more around the world.

The three shows will take place on June 24 in Hollywood, Fla.; June 30 in Gary, Ind.; and on July 2 in Wheatland, Calif.

Halsey’s exciting announcement comes amid a treacherous time in the music industry, where a few artists have been sharing transphobic responses to trans activist Dylan Mulvaney teaming up with Anheuser-Busch to promote the brand’s Easy Carry Contest, including Kid Rock and Travis Tritt.

Additionally, conservative politicians have been targeting trans people, drag queens and queer culture in recent weeks, leading to a surge in anti-LGBTQ bills surging through Republican-led legislatures, particularly in Tennessee.

Halsey listens to her fans! Following years of fans buzzing over an unreleased solo version of her Post Malone collaboration, “Die for Me,” the 28-year-old singer has delivered the official track.

“Die 4 Me” was released on Friday (Feb. 24), just a week after initially announcing it. “Next Friday I’ve got a little surprise coming,” Halsey wrote on Instagram alongside cover art for the upcoming song. “It’s been long known in my fanbase that there’s a demo of ‘Die For Me’ with just me on it. I performed my verse on the tour all summer long and since so many people have asked for it, I decided to put my full version out as ‘Die 4 Me.’”

“Die For Me” was featured on Malone’s 2019 album, Hollywood’s Bleeding, which spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The Future-assisted track reached No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September 2019.

Halsey has signed a global publishing deal with BMG. The deal includes administration of future songs as well as her recently released single “So Good” and the Calvin Harris-led collaboration “Stay With Me” (also featuring Justin Timberlake and Pharrell).

Previous to this announcement, both Halsey’s recorded music and publishing were handled by Universal Music Group’s Capitol Records and Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG). Her compositions written prior to the new BMG deal, including the critically acclaimed If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power (2021), will remain under UMPG’s care.

Halsey says of the deal, “I’m thrilled to announce this partnership with BMG. I was immediately drawn to their artist friendly, songwriter-first mentality and I’m looking forward to taking this journey with my new BMG family.”

One of the industry’s brightest stars today, Halsey, born Ashley Frangipane, became a cult-favorite with their debut album Badlands (2015), an alt-pop compilation that revealed their distinctive sound as both a singer and writer to her followers on Tumblr and to the world. From there, Halsey broke through to the mainstream as the top liner on Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” which reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 and stayed there for twelve weeks. The song eventually broke the record for most weeks in the Hot 100’s top five, with 26 weeks (or six months).

Halsey has remained a top-earning artist ever since, charting on Billboard’s U.S. Money Makers list for 2020, and the singer-songwriter bolstered that monetary success with the critical and artistic acclaim of Manic (2020) and If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power (2021). Beyond the music, Halsey is also an accomplished author, activist, and entrepreneur. Their book I Would Leave Me If I Could: A Collection of Poetry debuted on the New York Times Best Seller list for 2020, and their makeup brand about-face beauty, an inclusive beauty line for all, is a top seller. Through her music and business pursuits, Halsey is known for drawing attention to important causes, including women’s rights, mental health, and LGBTQ+ rights.

Jason Aron and Anthony Li, Halsey’s co-managers at Anti-Pop, said, “BMG’s creative and refreshing approach to publishing is very exciting. Thomas and his team globally, have welcomed us with open arms. We appreciate their passion and dedication to putting artists first.”

Thomas Scherer, president of repertoire & marketing, Los Angeles and New York, said, “Halsey is an inspiration, a multi-faceted creator with a voice that hits you straight in the heart. We are prepared to present them everything we can offer, with our team’s full support around the world from Australia to Asia, Europe to LATAM, and all throughout North America. We welcome Halsey and their team to BMG and look forward to working alongside with them to elevate them to a whole new level.”
