LeBron James Now NBA’s All-Time Leading Scorer, Surpasses Kareem Abdul-Jabbar #ScoringKing

LeBron James #6 of the Los Angeles Lakers sets the All time scoring record.

LeBron James and his still-ongoing career are the stuff of legend despite the heavy criticism he continues to endure from pundits and couch potatoes alike. The Ohio native and future Hall of Famer became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer Tuesday night (Feb. 7), surpassing the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

LeBron James, 38, broke the all-time scoring record during a contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder lead by the explosive young core of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey, and Jalen Williams. The Lakers hosted the Thunder and the game was largely competitive throughout with James leading all scorers with 38 points.

The moment occurred in the third quarter and while it wasn’t some fancy shot from the corner or a thunderous dunk, it was a sweet 14-foot fadeaway jumper that sealed the moment for King James.  In a classy move, Abdul-Jabbar, one of the most beloved Lakers players of all time, congratulated James mid-court with NBA commissioner Adam Silver flanking him.

James allowed himself to crack emotionally if just for a moment, breaking a record that many thought would never get eclipsed, and has existed for four decades, almost as old as James is. The chants of MVP from the crowd were justified as well, as James continues to play at a very high level at an age when most players are already long retired or on the way out of the league.

The Western Conference is highly competitive this season and while the Lakers are in 13th place, they’re just two games from contending for the play-in game and a late-season run could be possible. That said, there are a lot of games left in the 2022-23 season so it’s anyone’s ballgame.

For now, let’s congratulate the Scoring King, LeBron James, on this historic moment. Keep scrolling to see reactions from some of James’ peers and others on social media.

Kyrie Irving Is Officially Member Of Dallas Mavericks, Hoops Twitter Reacts

New York Knicks v Brooklyn Nets

Kyrie Irving is unquestionably one of the greatest basketball players currently starring in the NBA today, and certainly one of its most enigmatic. Now that Irving is an official member of the Dallas Mavericks team, basketball fans on Twitter have plenty to say.

Kyrie Irving demanded a trade from the Brooklyn Nets ahead of this coming Thursday’s NBA trade deadline and whispers around the league assumed that he’d be heading to the Los Angeles Lakers to reunite with his Cleveland Cavaliers teammate, LeBron James. However, Dallas won the Kyrie sweepstakes, sending solid players like Spencer Dinwiddie back to Brooklyn along with Dorian Finney-Smith, the 2027 second-round pick, the 2029 first-round pick (unprotected), and a 2029 second round-pick.

In return, the Mavs received Irving, now 30 but still in his prime, and reserve big man, Markieff Morris.

Dallas, at least according to their social media, seems to be all in with Irving despite the media fervor that will surely follow him for the duration of his playing days. The eight-time NBA All-Star guard is averaging just over 27 points for the season along with five rebounds and five assists. As one of the league’s top clutch players, Irving is expected to boost the standings of the Mavericks with Luka Doncic leading the way.

That said, both men are top scorers and are used to having the ball in their hands so it’s up to head coach Jason Kidd to work out the fine details. Irving showed class by leaving a farewell message for the Nets and their fans via Twitter, writing, “Thank you NetsWorld fans and supporters for the Love on and off the court. I will forever be grateful I got to live out my dream I had as a Kid with y’all. It will always be Love from me and my family.”

Check out the reactions to Kyrie Irving becoming a member of the Dallas Mavericks below.

Twitter Says Grammys Snubbed Beyoncé For AOTY Like Macklemore Over Kendrick Win

56th GRAMMY Awards - Press Room

Macklemore is currently readying his upcoming album, Ben, but found himself trending in the wake of the 65th Annual Grammy Awards and its conclusion on Sunday (Feb. 5). With Beyoncé failing to win the Album of the Year award at the Grammys, Twitter believes the record-breaking songstress was snubbed similarly to how some feel Kendrick Lamar was in 2014.

As some might remember, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ The Heist was up for the Best Rap Album at the 2014 Grammy Awards against tough competition in Drake for Nothing Was the Same, Jay-Z for Magna Carta Holy Grail, Kanye West for Yeezus and Kendrick Lamar for Good Kid, M.A.A.D City.

By most critical measures and based on the reactions from fans, K-Dot had the best project but failed to notch the win which sparked months of debate over the viability of the Grammys as it relates to Hip-Hop music and culture.

Now with Beyoncé’s Renaissance losing out to Harry Styles’ Harry’s Dream album, the Grammys snub talk is at an apex. Still, the Houston superstar still made history by becoming the winningest artist ever in Grammy Awards history and still has plenty of artistry left inside her to deliver to her supportive fanbase. It might even be something to ponder whether or not Beyoncé even cares about winning the AOTY nod. We’ll never truly know until she lets us in on her thought process.

To those keeping scores at home, this year the Grammys awarded Best Rap Album to Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, which some alleged is just to make up for the 2014 snub.

On Twitter, folks are putting Macklemore back in the mix for reasons outside his control. Check out those reactions below.

65th GRAMMY AWARDS Show coverage

Hip-Hop will celebrate its fiftieth year of existence this summer and all year, outlets such as ours are celebrating the culture as expected. The Grammy Awards took place on Sunday and carved out time for a segment demonstrating the broad scope of the music that has emerged over the past half-century.

For those uninitiated, August 11, 1973, is widely considered to be the official birth date of Hip-Hop by way of the legendary DJ Kool Herc. For the 65th Annual Grammy Awards celebration, LL COOL J introduced the segment produced by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of The Roots fame. Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter narrated the first two “chapters” of the tribute, which opened with a two-song set from Grandmaster Flash, Grandmaster Melle Mel, and Rahiem of Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five fame.

They were later joined by Run-DMC, LL COOL J, Salt-N-Pepa, Rakim, Chuck D, and Flava Flav of Public Enemy fame. De La Soul, Scarface, Ice-T, Queen Latifah, Method Man, Big Boi of Outkast, Busta Rhymes, Spliff Starr, and Missy Elliot came through for the second chapter.

With the aforementioned Queen Latifah taking over narration duties for the final act, Nelly and City Spud, Too $hort, The Lox with Swizz Beatz, Lil Baby, GloRilla, and Lil Uzi Vert ended the tribute.

Adding to this, the Grammys also had a rolling scroll of several Hip-Hop acts from both the mainstream and underground, including J-Live, Sage Francis (“watch me as I do dances”), The Arsonists, Sa-Ra Creative Partners, Spice 1, Kid Capri, and many more.

There was some chatter about certain acts being snubbed or not featured in the tribute, and Questlove answered those inquires and fought off the snub accusations in the thread we’ll post below.

On Twitter, the reactions to the tribute from both artists and fans alike were heartwarming to witness which hammered home just how vital and influential the genre continues to be. We’ve got all those reactions, including the tribute, below.

J Prince Fires Shots At Offset & Ignites Beef, Civilian Twitter Has Unnecessary Commentary

J Prince has garnered a reputation that seems larger than life in some respects, prompting many to hold the Texas native’s name in both reverence and fear. The Rap-A-Lot and Mob Ties honcho was a recent guest on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast and took a swipe at Offset, prompting a reply along with civilian Twitter seemingly knowing the ins and outs of how gangsters move.

J Prince, J Prince Jr., and other members of the Prince family sat down with Gillie and Wallo to chop it up over a number of topics. Gillie rightly opened up the chat by offering condolences to Takeoff, who was shot and killed in J Prince’s native Houston during a dice game that went left.

Fans on Twitter noted that Gillie, typically viewed as an interviewer who asks tough questions, didn’t dig for details and clarity to the level his co-host and cousin Wallo demonstrated. However, the Prince family used the moment to defend themselves against allegations that they had something to do with the death of Takeoff and it appeared they named other individuals in a bid to clear their own involvement according to observers.

There was one point of serious contention as it relates to the Migos collective overall with J Prince saying that Offset was not as close to his blood cousin, Takeoff, in recent times. Mike Prince also got emotional when he spoke about the fateful evening of Takeoff’s death and decried the rumors that the Prince family was connected.

As it stands, J Prince and the Prince family find themselves trending on Twitter while Offset is fuming over the mishandling of the emotional nature of the passing, mentioning his cousin’s mother during his video.

On Twitter, folks are speaking from vantage points that are clearly not cut from the cloth and some folks are throwing flags on the play. Check out those reactions below along with the podcast episode in question.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards went down on Sunday night (February 5) at the Crytpo.com Arena and its red carpet is an annual cavalcade of high fashion. However, it is also the nexus of some incredibly awful fits.

Nah for real, some of these stylists are clearly criminals on the side. At the end of the day, thought, the artist does have the option to say, “No.”

So for archival purposes, it’s only right we compiled some of the wilder outfits, starting with…wait for it…Blac Chyna.

Did she drop any music in 2022? Umm, who gave her a ticket? So many questions, so much fail.

2023 Roc Nation The Brunch - Arrivals

It was Grammy Weekend in Los Angeles, which in some circles means an event even more anticipated than the actual Grammy Awards, the Roc Nation Brunch. The annual event went down at a private residence in Bel Air on Saturday, February 4, and once again it featured a who’s who of industry movers and shakers, and the occasional clout chasers who finessed their way in.

Some of the A-listers in attendance, besides Beyonce and Jay-Z, of course, included Lil’ Kim, DJ Khaled, Lil Uzi Vert, Tyler the Creator, Benny The Butcher, Victor Cruz, Kelly Rowland and many, many more

Scoring an invite to The Brunch also means stepping out in your best attire because everyone is going to be watching, snapping photos and taking footage for the ‘Gram. That is, if you’re allowed to.

And from the looks of the pics, there are some dastardly stylists out in these Hip-Hop streets, respectfully.

Also, where is the food, bruv?

Miami Police Goes Super Performative, Unveils New Black History Month Cruiser

Police Line Do Not Cross Tape At The Scene Of A Violent Crime

Black History Month should be a moment of celebration for Black people in the United States and around the world, but there is always some company or brand that makes massive missteps annually. The Miami Police Department added its name to the Struggle Olympics by unveiling a police cruiser designed to honor BHM and Twitter is having a field day tearing down the moment.

Just three days into Black History Month, we’re already seeing some brands making the most ham-handed attempts in catering to Black folks in the clumsiest of ways. As noted by local Miami outlet WSVN, the Miami Police rolled out the cruiser for BHM on Thursday (Feb. 20) with Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales on hand for the ceremony.

“This is a beautiful collaboration to commemorate Black history and Black History Month and the history of African Americans and our police department and our city,” Mayor Suarez said. “This is Black history.”

Is it, now?

Along with a red, black, and green design scheme, there is also a design of the continent of Africa on the vehicle, along with stripes of kente cloth, all of the things one would associate the City of Miami Police Department with, naturally.

The Columbus Police Department in Ohio also made a similar move although it’s shockingly less over the top than the Miami Police deal.

We don’t need to dump on the silliness of this latest Black History Month gaffe because Twitter handled our light work for us. Keep scrolling for those comments below.

Smokey Robinson Readies New GASMS LP, Twitter Says Pops Is Deep In His Nasty Bag

Smokey Robinson In Concert - Nashville, TN

Smokey Robinson is an amazing talent and still going strong as he approaches the age of 83 later this month. However, the legendary singer and songwriter got some folks scratching their heads after prepping a new album titled GASMS and the song titles alone truly has Twitter saying Robinson is deep in his nasty bag.

Smokey Robinson, 82, hasn’t dropped a new project in nearly a decade according to a press release and GASMS is definitely not an acronym as far as we can tell. We’re petty certain the name is short for orgasms based on the aforementioned titles that we’re about to share below.

TRACKLIST:

01. Gasms
02. How You Make Me Feel
03. I Wanna Know Your Body
04. I Keep Callin’ You
05. Roll Around
06. Besides
07. If We Don’t Have Each Other
08. You Fill Me Up
09. I Fit In There

Currently, one of GASM’s tamer song titles, “If We Don’t Have Each Other,” is the current single ahead of the nine-track LP’s release on April 28. We don’t need to do any guesswork on songs like “I Fit In There” and “Roll Around” but we’re not mad at the living legend for getting his sexy man swag all the way up.

On Twitter, folks aren’t trying to let Smokey Robinson live and have lots to say about the upcoming GASMS and the song titles. Check out those reactions and the single, “If We Don’t Have Each Other,” below.

Rep. Maxine Waters Fries MAGA Bozos In Congress With Ease

Denouncing the Horrors of Socialism

Maxine Waters, a battle-tested member of Congress, has long been a fierce champion for the American people while representing California and other members of the Democratic Party. During a House Rules Committee hearing, Waters handled the false accusations from Republican Party opponents that she embraces socialism, doing so with expert ease.

Rep. Maxine Waters of California was present at the Tuesday (Jan. 31) hearing for a debate to sign a resolution against socialism, a long-running crusade for conservative members of Congress still worshipping at the feet of McCarthyism and threats of the “Red Scare.”

Waters, who sits as a ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee, pushed back at the charges of socialism levied against her by Rep. Nick Langworthy of New York, after the congressman asked Waters to address a 2019 declaration issued by former President Doandl Trump that America will never fall under socialist rule.

“One of the problems I have with this resolution is, I don’t know everything that you’re talking about when you talk about socialism,” Water fired back. “There are things that you embrace that fall within that so-called socialism definition.”

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler of Pennsylvania then went on a half-baked attack against Waters in demanding she condemns socialism, but it failed spectacularly.

“The American public is going to wonder why Republicans are wasting our time today with this divisive resolution instead of focusing on the real threats to our economy and democracy,” Waters said. “What is this all about? Is it about saying you want to cut Social Security? You want to cut Medicare? You don’t care about the debt ceiling? Please.”

Rep. Reschenthaler then stepped in a steaming pile of horse puckey of his party’s own doing.

“You can’t condemn socialism?” Reschenthaler asked. “In your opening remarks, you were talking about Putin, Kim Jong Un and Xi. You know what they all have in common, right?”

Waters simply fired back, “Trump.”

Classic Auntie Maxine.
