Travis Kelce is well aware that the NFL‘s coverage surrounding his rumored romance with Taylor Swift might be pushing the limits. But he’s definitely not complaining, either.
On the latest episode of his New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, Travis conceded that the pro league’s role in hyping up his rumored relationship with Swift — from Swift-themed social media posts to commercials, not to mention the many questions and segments about the singer in sports media in recent weeks — is getting to be a little too much. “I think everybody is just overwhelmed,” he said on the Wednesday (Oct. 4) episode.

“They’re overdoing it a little bit, for sure,” he added. “Especially my situation. I think they’re just trying to have fun with it.”

The “situation” in question started months ago, when the Kansas City tight end first revealed on New Heights that he had a crush on Swift and had tried unsuccessfully to slip her his phone number via a friendship bracelet at an Eras Tour show. Things kicked into high gear in September when the “Anti-Hero” singer attended the Chiefs-Bears game at Arrowhead Stadium and was seen leaving the event with Travis.

Over the weekend, she was spotted again at a Chiefs game, this time at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. She cheered Travis on from a box suite filled with many of her friends, including Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Sophie Turner and Brittany Mahomes — a spectacle NFL production made sure to capture on camera multiple times throughout the game.

“Take away your feelings for Taylor,” Jason said of Travis on their podcast. “What is your honest opinion on how the NFL is treating celebrities at the games?”

“I think it brings a little more to the atmosphere, it brings a little bit more to what you’re watching,” the younger Kelce responded. “But at the same time, I think …”

“They’re overdoing it,” Jason chimed in, with Travis agreeing.

Even so, #87 isn’t feeling too shabby about how things have played out with Ms. Swift. In an interview with the Chasin’ It with Trey Wingo and Chase Daniel that aired Tuesday (Oct. 3), Travis said he had “no idea” how much attention his pursuit of the pop star would garner. “I had no idea, man,” he admitted. “I had no idea. You can’t tell me that anybody else did either, but I can’t be mad at how it’s all played out. I’ll say that.”

Travis Kelce may have scored big with Taylor Swift, his rumored love interest, but he’s making sure to give credit to a couple of female sports commentators who might have helped him win her over. Back before the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was all over the news due to speculation he’s dating Swift, their […]

Swifties are in their era, whether or not they understand the sport — but Carson Daly is helping out with a little sports rundown. Taylor Swift arrived to watch Travis Kelce — tight end and her rumored boyfriend — and the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the New York Jets over the weekend (Oct. […]

A key part of Taylor Swift’s image during the original 1989 album campaign involved her “squad” of famous friends, so it’s only right that she bring that back as she gears up for the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) — albeit in a configuration that more closely reflects where she’s at in her life right […]

Taylor Swift and Sophie Turner had their latest girls’ night out Sunday (Oct. 1), this time at the Chiefs-Jets game at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Joined by a group of the pop star’s close friends, the pair was cheering on Swift’s rumored romantic interest Travis Kelce in a box suite alongside Ryan Reynolds, Blake […]

The Kansas City Chiefs are headed to New York this weekend, and who better to soundtrack their expedition than the West Village’s own Taylor Swift? In a new NBC television commercial the pop star’s ode to NYC “Welcome to New York” was used as background pump-up music for a series of clips promoting the Kansas […]

We still have no idea of Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce are actually dating. Despite the Fox Sports cameras cutting to Swift so often for reaction shots on Sunday that you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d accidentally tuned in to some new jock-themed music awards show, there was a notable dearth of actual TSwift music during the pop-meets-pigskin summit.
There are any number of perfect Taylor titles that the game’s producers could have used (out of context) as commercial bumpers to further hype the alleged budding romance between Swift and Kelce: “Look What You Made Me Do” after Kelce snagged a touchdown in the third quarter of the drubbing of the Chicago Bears at KC’s Arrowhead Stadium, or maybe “Love Story,” “The Man” or “‘Tis the Damn Season?”

But according to a blog post by NFL on Fox lead producer Richie Zyons, pictures had to tell the story, because music was not an option. “Earlier in the week, amid the avalanche of rumors, our bulldog associate producer Rich Gross had sought permission to use some of Swift’s music,” Zyons wrote on Thursday. “Not a chance. Per the FOX music department, Swift’s record label and publishing company denied our request “in conjunction with speculations on or about her private/personal/dating life.”

At press time a spokesperson for Swift could not be reached for comment on Zyons’ claims that the singer’s team had denied a request to play her music at the game, or to confirm the Kelce dating rumors.

Other than getting blank spaced on Swift’s music, Zyons described how the Fox Sports team were otherwise all-hands when it came to chronicling Swift’s breathlessly detailed foray, which also reportedly included a post-game hang with the team. “The first time we peeked in on Kelce’s suite was during player introductions, minutes before the start of the broadcast,” he said. “Swift was there, seated next to Kelce’s mother Donna, and they both erupted in cheers as the tight end ran out of the tunnel. We played that back on tape early in the telecast.”

After that, Zyons said it was a matter of carefully balancing typical game coverage with glimpses of the A-list pop star, who appearance reportedly led to a major bump in Kelce jersey sales. “[Director Rich] Russo showed restraint not taking gratuitous live shots, saving the opportunities for when she reacted to action in the game. Her joyful expression after Kelce scored a touchdown was the image of the day, captured beautifully by our low end-zone cameraman Andy Mitchell.”

The camera could not keep its eyes off Swift, however, as she enthusiastically cheered on KC, including an instant viral moment when the singer yelled “let’s f–king go!” after Kelce’s score.

It could be deja vu all over again on Sunday night, as Swift is reportedly slated to attend the Chief’s prime time game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.

Taylor Swift is getting tight with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce‘s teammates. During a press conference Wednesday (Sept. 27), Patrick Mahomes revealed that he got to meet the pop star at the team’s game-day afterparty over the weekend, noting that Kelce’s rumored new love interest is “really cool.”
The party in question was reportedly hosted at Prime Social in Kansas City soon after the Chiefs triumphed over the Bears on Sunday, a matchup at Arrowhead Stadium notably attended by Swift. The singer, who was seen cheering Kelce on alongside his mother, Donna, left for the celebration with #87 at her side after the game.

“She’s really cool, good people,” Mahomes recalled.

Shortly before the party, the quarterback had told reporters that he hoped to meet Swift eventually, saying she was “a tremendous singer, tremendous at everything she does.” “I haven’t got to meet her, but I guess if she ends up being with Travis, then I will probably get to meet her at some point,” he said in a postgame interview Sunday. “She seems like a good person. Hopefully, I get to meet her one day.”

Now that he has brushed shoulders with Swift, though, Mahomes says he doesn’t plan on sharing any more about the Grammy winner in the future. “But like Trav said, man, I’m going to let them have their privacy and just keep it moving,” he added Wednesday.

The sentiment echoes Kelce’s own remarks on his recent New Heights podcast episode, in which he told his brother, Eagles center Jason Kelce, that he’ll be drawing the curtain on his relationship with Swift from now on. “It is my personal life and I want to respect both of our lives,” he said before joking, “She’s not in the media as much as I am, doing this show every single week … I’m enjoying life, and I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend.”

Once again, Taylor Swift lifts all boats. After Tay spent her Sunday afternoon cheering on Kansan City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce from a box at Arrowhead Stadium alongside Travis’ mom, the star is already starting to feel the Swift Effect. “Yesterday, Travis Kelce was one of the top five selling NFL players and saw […]
