After decades of being off the air, everyone’s favorite ’90s Hip-Hop cop show, New York Undercover, is back! Well, not really, but kinda.

Over the weekend the show celebrated it’s 30th anniversary with the help of Lethal Shooter (NBA shooting coach Chris Matthews), Dave East and others. The show’s two main stars, Malik Yoba and Michael DeLorenzo returned as Detective J.C. Williams and Detective Eddie Torres and gave us an idea of what New York Undercover could be in 2024.

Breaking out the baggy pants and leather jackets like it was 1995 again, Detective Torres and Williams run up on Dave East and his crew in search of Lethal Shooter. Remaining true to the code of the streets, East promptly denied knowing anything before the two D’s were alerted to Shooter’s whereabouts. Taking to Dyckman court to cuff up their person of interest, Torres and Williams once again break the case wide open in less than a half-hour.
This was hilarious.
We don’t know if this was just a one-off for the two actors or if they’re angling to get their show back on the airwaves or streaming, but either way it was pretty cool to see them back in action on the streets of New York.
Check out Dave East, Malik Yoba and Michael DeLorenzo breathe new life into New York Undercover below. Let us know your thoughts on the skit in the comments section.

One of Hip-Hop’s most beloved shoes is getting its own day on the calendar. Clarks has announced that April 26 will be Wallabee Day.

As reported by Hype Beast the British-based company is giving their signature shoe a unique distinction in an effort to not only give it point of difference amongst their entire portfolio, but to also celebrate the model’s rich history. This week it was announced that Friday, Apr. 26 will be the first-ever Wallabee Day. According to the brand’s Instagram account the idea came from a conversation with one of Rap’s sharpest lyricist; Raekwon The Chef. “We need to have a Wallabee day. We need to be able to go out there and say today is the day everybody throws their joints on” he said according to a press release.

“We are delighted to announce the launch of our first Wallabee Day,” said Clarks’ Chief Marketing Officer Tara McRae in a formal statement. “It’s such an iconic shoe loved by people across the world and has served as a blank canvas to artists, creators and cultures over many generations. Wallabee Day allows us to celebrate not just the shoe, but also all of the collaborators who help us reinvent the story year after year.”

To commemorate the occasion Clarks will be releasing some new colorways of the iconic shoe, customs and hosting events in select cities across the world. Both Raekwon and Dave East star in the campaign where the “1000 Miles” rapper is spotted wearing X-LARGE customized versions of the Wallabee.

Jadakiss and Dave East get together for a special edition of the popular I Got Questions interview series to mark Hip-Hop’s 50th Anniversary.
The celebration of Hip-Hop turning 50 is still going strong, and many have come together to talk about their experiences and love for the different aspects of the culture. In that light, two of the greatest MCs in rap music in Jadakiss and Dave East linked up to share their stories in a new episode of the iONE Digital series to mark the occasion.

As both artists hold court in a luxurious speakeasy lounge, Dave East kicks things off by asking The LOX veteran if he remembered the first time they met. “Not at all”, Jadakiss stated. “Every time you’d come up to D-Block, I wouldn’t be around. But I heard about you and heard your music way before I met you.”
The conversation turn to focus on when both rappers felt that they were among the best in the game. For Jadakiss, it was being beloved by The Notorious B.I.G. “We used to write rhymes that we wanted him to hear. Then after being signed to Bad Boy, having him tell us “I’m glad y’all are down with me…”that’s a cream-of-the-crop moment right there.” Dave East concurred, citing a co-sign from Nas as his moment. “Having Esco co-sign me, then it was Rae, Meth and the Wu?,” he said. “Gotta cherish that moment man.”
They also spoke about the love they receive from fans on the road, with Dave East recounting how amazed he was on a recent tour date in Canada seeing fans recite songs word for word. It prompted Jadakiss to recall what he called “the worst show ever in life” involving him and a lack of comfortable boxers.

Fabolous is sharing his opinion on the current state of rap by honing in on what he considers redundancy in female rap.

Taking to social media, the Hip-Hop veteran shared his opinion on the sector of the genre that is leading the pack, sharing that he’s “happy” to see so many women doing their thing in Hip Hop, he’d love it if some of these “strong” women incorporated topics about their life experiences in their rhymes a little more.

“I love hearing female rappers talking some real sh-t,” Fab wrote on his Instagram Story on Sunday (Jul. 16). “Women are so strong. Have so many stories and perspectives that we need to hear in pure form. No disrespect to any female rappers out there but I think there’s only one style of female rap/Hip Hop being promoted, programmed, and looked at as successful now.”
While Fab is calling for diversity, other rappers are weighing in on the influx of femcees dominating the charts, including Lil Baby, Lola Brooke, Glorilla and Lil Durk have all acknowledged women’s current reign, with Durk crediting them for being competitive and focused on their love for Hip Hop rather than the business side.
“Make hip hop fun again we understand everybody got money but let’s f–k em up like we was doing s/o the females who been working salute keep going up,” Lil Durk wrote in his Instagram story last month.
Fabolous is no stranger to supporting female artists, the Street Family head honcho previously collaborated with some of Hip-Hop’s most notable female emcees, including Missy Elliott, Lil’ Kim, Foxy Brown, and Nicki Minaj. Three of his biggest songs in particular, “Take You Home,” “What Should I Do,” and “Can’t Let You Go,” were all created alongside Baltimore artist Lil’ Mo.
In other Fabolous news, the rapper has announced plans to drop a fitness Hip-Hop album with Jim Jones, Dave East, and Maino titled Fit Lit, along with an appearance in Paramount+ Hip-Hop documentary, Mixtape,–followed by the official soundtrack.
As previously reported, the film highlights how authorities got involved in the downfall of the mixtape game and ultimately screwed up a once-thriving portion of the Hip-Hop game. In addition to Fabolous, DJ Green Lantern, A$AP Rocky, 2 Chainz, DJ Khaled, KRS-One, DJ Drama, and Jeezy will also make appearances in the film.
