After winning her first Grammy and being named Billboard‘s Woman of the Year for 2025, Doechii is adding another piece of awards hardware to her shelf after Thursday night (March 27).
Doechii took home the GLAAD Media Award for outstanding music artist at the non-profit organization’s ceremony. Presented the award by former GLAAD Award recipients Lil Nas X and Maren Morris, Doechii took to the stage to express her delight.

“I am thrilled at being recognized with such a prestigious award by GLAAD and to be joining prior honorees such as Renee [Rapp], Lady Gaga, Lil Nas X, Sam Smith and Janelle Monáe,” she said. “This is a huge and special moment as well because GLAAD is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, which is super fab.”

As she continued, laying out the organization’s principles of “acceptance, inclusiveness and empowerment,” Doechii took a moment to reflect on where we are in this politically charged moment for the LGBTQ+ community.

“Those are the same things I strongly believe in and advocate for and that continue to propel me forward — especially now that hard-won cultural change and rights for transgender people and the LGBTQ community have been threatened,” she said. “And I am disgusted. Disgusted. But I want to say that we are here and we are not going anywhere.”

In closing her speech, Doechii gave a special callout to up-and-coming queer artists in the audience, offering them some sage advice: “[Do] not let anyone ever block your dreams … I just want to encourage you guys to stay connected with one another. Stay passionate. Stay focused. Keep your chin up. Be kind, and be fab!”

Doechii was far from the only winner at Thursday’s ceremony. Rising R&B star Durand Burnarr took home a trophy for outstanding breakthrough music artist during the ceremony, while Cynthia Erivo was honored with the organization’s Stephen F. Kolzak award for her work in raising visibility for queer people in 2024 and beyond.

“I know this event is to celebrate the work and I am endlessly grateful for that honor and for this celebration, but the real work is making the ground we leave in our wake level enough for the next person who finds their way to the path we have made,” the Wicked actress said in her speech. “For the person who is searching and searching and has not found it yet. This room is full of people who can and will … be lanterns to light up your journey and your path on your way to showing the world who you are.”

Rapper Sexyy Red is facing a lawsuit from Nicole Barnes, the grandmother of her children. The grandmother claims that the artist publicly shared Barnes’ home address and encouraged her social media followers to harm her.

According to legal documents filed on Monday, Barnes alleges that in December 2024, Sexyy Red posted her address online and instructed her large fan base to “kick in the door” and do harm to her and her family. Barnes claims that this act left her in extreme fear for her safety, forcing her to flee her home and rendering her unable to return. As a result, she has struggled to find affordable housing and has been experiencing ongoing emotional distress. The lawsuit states that Barnes has been in therapy to cope with the trauma and anxiety caused by the incident.

In response to these alleged actions, Barnes is suing Sexyy Red for assault and infliction of emotional distress. She is seeking over $5 million in damages for the harm she has suffered. It remains unclear whether Sexyy Red has responded to the lawsuit or if she intends to fight the claims in court.

If Barnes’ allegations are proven, Sexyy Red could face serious legal and financial repercussions. The situation continues to develop as both sides prepare for a potential legal battle. More news to come as the story develops.

Memphis rapper GloRilla was forced to cut her show short in St. Louis after multiple fights broke out in the crowd during her performance.

While delivering her hit song “Whatchu Kno About Me,” chaos erupted in the audience yet again, frustrating the rapper. Clearly annoyed, she paused and looked at the crowd, visibly upset, before saying, “The f**k wrong with y’all?” She then shook her head in disbelief and decided to end the show early, much to the disappointment of fans.

This incident wasn’t isolated. At a recent stop in Atlanta, a similar situation occurred, with fights breaking out in the crowd and not stopping despite the efforts of security and event organizers.

It seems that GloRilla’s high-energy performances and raw, in-your-face style of rap are sparking a level of excitement that has people ready to turn up in ways that cross the line into violence. Her unique sound, which she affectionately refers to “music” as “murrrsic,” has a gritty, powerful appeal that riles up her audience. It also appears to have a tendency to fuel aggressive behavior in some fans.

While the CMG rapper continues to garner success with her distinctive style and anthem-like hits, it raises questions about the intensity of her live shows and whether certain audiences might be taking things a bit too far. Despite the disruptions, GloRilla remains a rising star in the rap game, but it’s clear that her shows are not for the faint of heart.

The NFL has recently made a significant change to its rulebook, banning the popular “nose wipe” celebration.

As of the latest update on page 50 of the NFL rulebook, the gesture is now classified as an unsportsmanlike conduct violation. Any player who performs the nose wipe will face a 15-yard penalty. The rule defines the nose wipe as part of a broader category of “violent gestures,” which also includes throat slashes, mimicking the firing of a gun, and any sexually suggestive actions.
The nose wipe has gained popularity among athletes in recent years, largely influenced by modern hip-hop culture. Artists like Young Thug, Future, and YG have used the gesture in their music videos and public appearances. However, its meaning in hip-hop culture is tied to street symbolism. Within certain communities, especially among gang affiliations, the nose wipe is used as a subtle, coded sign often connected to the Bloods gang. The act of wiping the nose in this context signifies distrust or a threat to another person.

While the NFL has not explicitly referenced the gesture’s gang ties, the league’s decision to ban it likely stems from concerns over the promotion of violence or divisive symbolism. By eliminating the nose wipe from the field, the NFL is attempting to maintain a neutral and respectful environment, free from any gestures that could be seen as promoting aggression or gang-related messages.
Some NFL stars, like CeeDee Lamb, have made the nose wipe a regular part of their post-touchdown celebrations, using it as a personal signature on the field. Lamb, always known for his flashy style, has often used the gesture to emphasize his excitement after getting a first down. However, with the league’s new ruling, Lamb and other players who have adopted the nose wipe will now have to find new ways to celebrate without risking a penalty.

Mikey Madison and the Saturday Night Live writers still have a little more work to do before the Anora star makes her hosting debut this weekend.
In a new promo video for the episode posted Wednesday (March 26), Madison sits in cast member Sarah Sherman’s eclectic dressing room and points out an intriguing prop: a dark-haired, bikini-clad woman sprouting eight wax candles. “Oh! The Anora Menorah!” Sherman says, revealing that it had been used in a scrapped SNL skit prior to Madison’s visit.

“Yeah, no, I heard about that!” the actress says excitedly. “Did people think it was funny?”

“Yeah, it killed,” Sherman replies unconvincingly after flashing back to a cringe-worthy clip of the cut sketch, in which Andrew Dismukes bombs while showing off the kitschy menorah. “Definitely, people were laughing.”

Trending on Billboard

That prompts Sherman to show off an entirely-different-but-not-really sketch idea for Madison’s episode: the Anora Fedora, the prop for which finds a similar figure of the Scream star piercing through a black hat. “You guys will have other ideas, right?” Madison then asks after a nervous pause.

Not featured in the teaser is Morgan Wallen, who will appear on Madison’s episode as this week’s musical guest. The country star — who is currently gearing up to release new album I’m the Problem on May 16 — previously made his performance debut on SNL in 2020, singing “7 Summers” and “Still Goin Down” from Dangerous: The Double Album, which spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

This week’s episode follows Lady Gaga playing double duty as host and musical guest March 8, with past Season 50 musical guests being Tate McRae, GloRilla, Hozier, Gracie Abrams, Shaboozey, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish and more. In the weeks following the March 29 installment, Lizzo, Elton John and Brandi Carlile will also perform on episodes hosted by John Hamm and Jack Black.

Madison’s hosting debut will follow a spectacular awards season for Anora, for which the leading lady won best actress at the 2025 Oscars earlier this month. The film picked up a total of five awards at the ceremony, including best picture, best director, original screenplay and editing.
