“I never had dinner with the president!” – Ice Cube (“No Vaseline”)

O’Shea Jackson’s jab at Eric Wright on the scathing diss track aimed at his former N.W.A family carried significant weight in 1991. At the time, the president represented the power that was oppressive to the Hip-Hop community. A group like N.W.A didn’t participate in a lunch benefiting the Republican Senatorial inner circle, which was hosted by then-President George H. W. Bush. And the idea that Eazy-E did just that painted him out to be a traitor to the community.

We fought the power for change in our community, we didn’t fraternize with the power in an attempt to join their fraternity. And any individual in the Hip-Hop community who didn’t adhere to these unwritten laws was subject to being publicly tarred and feathered. No questions asked.

Fast forward to 2024 and, as The Notorious B.I.G. once said “Things Done Changed.”

The power that we were up against in the 80s and 90s has changed shape over the years. It’s a little more complicated to figure out who “The Power” is now when the economics and landscape have been modified, altered and remodeled. In some ways it has changed for the better but, as they always say—the more things change, the more they stay the same.

“Sharing our platforms and our audiences with individuals who have spent the majority of their careers in the spotlight disparaging the very communities we come from is a dangerous proposition.”

Candace Owens is making some eye-raising decisions, from meeting up with Joe Budden for an upcoming interview to defending Beyoncé.Candace Owens has long positioned herself at the forefront of Black conservatism in America, quite often criticizing the Black community in the process. And that hasn’t gone unnoticed, with many Black people disparaging her for behavior that ultimately comforts the worst of white right-wingers and conservatives, such as promoting the fallacy that George Floyd wasn’t killed by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. But as the United States is in another tense election year, Owens seems to be shifting her stance ever so slightly within the past few days with two moves – the first being a surprise meeting with media personality and rapper Joe Budden.
Owens shared a photo of her meetup with Budden, which reportedly took place in Nashville, Tennessee to her Instagram Stories. The caption simply read, “It happened.” Budden had previously expressed admiration for Candace Owens, remarking on The Joe Budden Podcast that he doubted that she would ever call in to make an appearance. The author would respond on her own podcast last week, saying: “I’m going to take you up on your offer, publicly.”

The news of the interview and the photo spread like wildfire across the internet, with many expressing their displeasure over the situation. HOT97 radio host Peter Rosenberg made his position plain in a post on X, formerly Twitter, writing: “So sick of the idea that conversations need to be had with bigots, trolls, and immoral a-holes …exchanging ideas among smart good people is useful … hearing a hateful hack babble on about hate is not worth anyone’s time.”

This follows a surprising position that Owens took in defending superstar singer Beyoncé’s latest single, “Texas Hold ‘Em”. from a slew of detractors believing it’s not truly a country song.  “Some people are saying that this is not very country,” Owens said of Beyoncé’s new song. “I’m going to defend Beyoncé on that point because Beyoncé’s kind of always been country. She’s more country than Taylor Swift ever was for sure.” She continued: “Beyoncé is from Houston, Texas. She’s always had a twang… [Taylor Swift] put on a fake twang. Everyone was okay with it. You can’t say that Taylor Swift can do it, and Beyonce can’t.”

Conservative pundit Candace Owens is not a fan of Ice Spice’s new single, saying it shows how far society has fallen.

Candace Owens has made a career out of declaring everything that’s wrong with America in lockstep with her right-wing fan base. On Wednesday (January 31), she aimed the latest single from Ice Spice, entitled “Think U The S**t (Fart)” on her self-titled podcast. “If you’re wondering whether or not it’s a good song, what do you think? It’s called ‘Think U The S**t (Fart)’,” she says with a thinly veiled tone of disgust before playing a snippet of the track. It made its debut last week, going viral partly due to the line: “Think you the sh*t, b*tch? You not even the fart.”

“Now I think we can all admit that we’ve fallen as a society,” Owens continued after playing the clip. “I mean, I wouldn’t say that was Mozart or Beethoven, but I’m not all of these mainstream media publications that routinely run to defend this kind of music similar to what they did with ‘WAP’ the most disgusting and filthiest lyrics I’ve ever read. They will then sit down and write an article trying to convince you that what you just heard was magical and they did this with this Ice Spice song.”
Exasperated, the Daily Wire contributor concluded: “I just wanna live in a society where we can all acknowledge that a song that’s entitled ‘Think U The Sh*t (Fart)’ is in fact itself a sh*t fart. That’s where I wanna live. Can we get back to that? I don’t know. Let’s move on.”
Ice Spice’s newest track comes in advance of the 23-year-old’s four nominations at next weekend’s Grammy Awards. These include the Best Rap Song award for her “Barbie World” collaborative track with Nicki Minaj and Best New Artist. The Bronx native has also confirmed that her debut album is on the way in a recent interview on Today with Hoda & Jenna, saying: “I’m so excited. It’s called Y2K. It’s almost finished. So, I’m really excited.”

As many celebrated Juneteenth across the nation, Candace Owens went on to trash the holiday—and received some serious backlash after her comments. On Monday (June 19th), numerous celebrations were being held across the United States to celebrate Juneteenth as it marks its second year of becoming a federal holiday. Owens, who’s known for making a slew of incendiary remarks targeting Black people and other marginalized groups, went on Twitter and wrote: “Juneteenth is still ghetto and made up. Hope everyone enjoys it!”

She has railed against Juneteenth before on Twitter, having “described it as ’emotional programming for black people that choose to opt in to the perpetual victim mentality,” according to a report by Newsweek. “Juneteenth is soooo lame. Democrats really need to stop trying to repackage segregation. I’ll be celebrating July 4th and July 4th only. I’m American,” she stated at the time. While there was the usual gaggle of right-wing advocates and online bigots who responded to her tweet applauding her appalling statement, the rude remarks didn’t go unchallenged for long. Some took it upon themselves to educate Owens on the history of the day, sharing informative articles and links. Many decided to pull up and tell Owens all about herself in a wild and witty fashion, with a few of her followers actually siding with supporters of the holiday.
Here’s a sampling of some of the more entertaining clap backs served up to Candace Owens online. Maybe next time she might reconsider putting her foot in her mouth about the significance of the day – but we doubt it.

1. KesendraB

Twitter user Kesendra B pretty much set the tone for the barrage of digital beatdowns coming Candace’s way.

2. Cutie Superstar

“Oh Klandace” might be a t-shirt in the making.

4. IV Film TV & Comedy

This user utilized the key scene from Django Unchained of Samuel L. Jackson and Leonardo Di Caprio with their blunt caption.

5. MellBivDevoe

This Twitter user decided to make his point all the way clear with the raccoon imagery.

Kanye West

Owens credited the Yeezy mogul for designing “Blexit” merch — a portmanteau for “Black” and “exit” that mimics Britain’s exit from the European Union — for her movement she launched in late 2018 that encourages Black voters to leave the Democratic party and register as Republicans.

“Blexit is a renaissance, and I am blessed to say that this logo, these colors, were created by my dear friend and fellow superhero Kanye West,” Owens told Page Six at Turning Point USA’s Young Black Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 27, 2018 (Owens was Turning Point USA communications director at the time of the event).

But ‘Ye cleared the air on Twitter a few days later when he denied helming the designs. “I introduced Candace to the person who made the logo and they didn’t want their name on it so she used mine,” he wrote. “I never wanted any association with Blexit. I have nothing to do with it.”

West later wrote the mishap exposed him to the dangers of falsely spreading ideas he doesn’t personally align himself with and announced, “I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative !!!” But that obviously didn’t signal the end of West’s political antics as he continued to push forward with his 2020 presidential campaign under his independent “Birthday Party.”

On Halloween (Oct. 31), Owens penned an apologetic blog post titled after the rapper’s fourth studio album 808s & Heartbreak for falsely tying him to her Blexit movement, especially considering how much he means to her as a “superhero” and as a “friend.”

“Listening to music from Kanye West and Jay-Z is what I give credit to having kept my spirit alive on some of the very worst days. It’s a crazy thing to know that you wake up one day and someone whose words and lyrics literally kept your spirit alive is suddenly your friend. God is good. There are so many people in this world who love Kanye West because they know he is great and powerful and cool, but not every person in this world knows what it means to have someone’s rap lyrics literally save you,” she began writing. “…If I had to imagine what it would feel like to have a bullet pierce my heart, it would be exactly like the moment I learned Kanye told the world he felt I had used him. I wouldn’t wish the way I felt last night upon my worst enemy.”

She continued: “I never once said that Kanye designed the t-shirts for BLEXIT. This is a lie that seems to have made its way around the world; a lie I would like to again correct for the record. Kanye was completely right to feel used in that regard and as I have done personally, I would like to publicly apologize to him for any undue stress or pain the effort to correct that rumor has caused him, his business relationships, or his family. He simply never designed them.”

Since then, Owens and Ye have patched things up, with Owens supporting the rapper by attending his controversial Paris Fashion Week show in 2022, and Ye returning the favor by walking the red carpet premiere of her film, Greatest Lie Ever Sold: George Floyd and the Rise of BLM.

Candace Owens took aim at Lizzo‘s appearance this week, and the pop star’s fans stepped in to defend her from the firebrand’s body-shaming commentary.

The drama started when the conservative author blasted Lizzo for posting a nearly nude photo of herself on social media, writing, “If you peep comments on any of Lizzo’s ‘fat acceptance’ photos, you will undoubtedly find a score of batsh– insane women telling her that she looks beautiful. Men do not lie to other men in this way. They do not pretend that clinical obesity is beauty.”

Naturally, Lizzo’s loyal fandom didn’t take kindly to Owens’ inflammatory and unkind rhetoric — in the preceding tweet, she also accused women of “supporting their own eradication via support for ‘trans men’” — and surged onto social media to clap back.

“Not Candace Owens calling Lizzo insecure???!!!!!” one replied while a second wrote, “I was having a good day until this popped up in my feed.”

Others more openly pushed back against Owens’ statements, commenting, “The point is about acceptance and love. Words you seem to have difficulty embracing in your life” and “But size has nothing to do with beauty. Lizzo is beautiful.”

While Lizzo hasn’t directly responded to Owens, she’s currently using her platform in partnership with the Dove Self-Esteem Project to combat the negative impact of harmful beauty standards across social media. “I DONT NEED SOCIAL MEDIA…SOCIAL MEDIA NEEDS ME,” she shared on Twitter and Instagram hours after Owens’ rude remarks went viral.

JoJo Siwa is hitting back at Candace Owens’ claim that she’s lying about being lesbian.

The 33-year-old conservative commentator shared a nearly six-minute video through Twitter on Tuesday (April 4), suggesting that Siwa, 19, is pretending to be gay because she is seeking attention.

“I don’t believe JoJo Siwa is a lesbian, by the way. I want to state that very clearly. I do believe that she’s desperate for attention,” Owens says in the clip, taken from her Daily Wire podcast.

Owens then comments on the pop singer and dancer’s TikTok video from October 2022 about first realizing she was gay after hearing Demi Lovato‘s hit song “Cool for the Summer,” watching Jenna Dewan’s Lip Sync Battle performance, and not wanting to be intimate with a man during a date.

“One plus one plus one must equal ‘I’m a lesbo,’” Owens says. “It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It’s very clear to me she did that video for attention. She got attention because it’s a great way to find a community of victims.”

Siwa caught wind of Owens’ video and reacted to it a couple of days later. “I haven’t watched the video yet…. But if it has anything to do with your caption, respectfully back the f— off,” the former Nickelodon star tweeted on Thursday (April 6).

Siwa officially came out on social media in 2021. “I never wanted [my coming out] to be a big deal,” she said in an interview with People a few months later. “I’ve never gotten this much support from the world. I think this is the first time that I’ve felt so personally happy.”

Check out Siwa’s response to Owens on Twitter below.

The Tory Lanez criminal trial is underway and about to wrap up. As reporters feed information to those intrigued by the spectacle this court case has become, allowing them to form opinions, primarily false, Megan Thee Stallion, the apparent victim in all of this, has gained an unlikely supporter in Candace Owens.
A broken clock is right twice a day.
Edgeless coonservative Candace Owens, who in the past has criticized Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion for their raunchy hit record “WAP,” is putting on her cape for the Houston rapper.
Taking to Elon Musk’s Twitter, Owens blasted the obvious misogynoir Thee Stallion is receiving and shared a clip from her podcast calling it out.
In the caption for the tweet, she wrote, “Megan Thee Stallion has credibly accused Tory Lanez of shooting her in the foot. She turned down hush money and has been stabbed in the back by her friends. Instead of getting showered with support, Megan was mocked. I can’t imagine what it would be like to be in her position.”

Twitter, Of Course, Can’t Believe What They Saw
It’s a safe bet to assume no one foresaw Candace Owens coming to the defense of Megan Thee Stallion.
The reactions to the tweet from other Twitter users are a clear indication of that. “I promise you, I PROMISE YOU, Candace Owens speaking truth to power in the year of our Lord 2022 was not on my bingo card,” one woman wrote on Twitter.

“Wasn’t expecting this but there are some valid points. Megan Thee Stallion deserves a lot more than the laughs, jeers, hate & suspicion she’s receiving as a domestic violence victim. The way she’s being treated by the culture, hip-hop/rap community and the media is vile,” another Twitter user wrote in response to the clip.

Owens is a notorious hater; honestly, if you closed her eyes and heard her taking, you would think she’s a white woman. With this surprising turn of events, her melanin is still present, and she recognizes a fellow Black woman’s pain.
The conservative talking head also claims this is not the first time she has put on a cape for Black artists.
“I actually defend a lot of black artists on my platform. The media just never covers it when I do,” she wrote in reply to a tweet.
“Notice that despite this going viral, there are no headlines about me defending Megan,” she added.
Well, Candace, here is your headline for saying something right.
You can see more reactions in the gallery below.
