Toosii enjoyed his first top five on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart with “Favorite Song,” that has skyrocketed into viral success.

The rapper/singer (real name: Nau’Jour Grainger), from Syracuse, N.Y., first appeared on a Billboard chart in February 2020, when his set Platinum Heart debuted at No. 3 on Heatseekers Albums, before reaching No. 1 seven months later. The set hit No. 196 on the Billboard 200 that June, marking his first entry on the ranking.

Nicki Minaj Gushes Over Margot Robbie, Says Entire ‘Barbie’ Cast ‘Nailed It’: ‘Bravo’

Nicki Minaj knows a thing or two about Barbie, and now she’s sharing her thoughts on Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie.

After the movie’s Los Angeles premiere on Sunday, Nicki Minaj shared a few kind words about Barbie star Margot Robbie as well as the rest of the cast.

“She’s strikingly gorgeous in person,” Minaj tweeted, replying to a GIF of her and Robbie posing for photos on the pink carpet. “Btw, the entire cast of this movie nailed it. The film is so visually stimulating. The actors can actually act, & the comedic timing is actually on time. Bravo. I’ll see it again & give my final analysis around the 21st. Will Ferrell, I [heart] U.”

During the red-carpet event, Minaj let it slip that she had multiple song options that were slated to appear on the Barbie: The Album soundtrack and finally landed on her “Barbie World” collab with Ice Spice.

“There were a couple songs that I didn’t love,” Minaj revealed to Entertainment Tonight. “This ‘Barbie [Girl]’ sample, I loved it. I just wanted it to have a dope drum, and so the one that they sent me, I loved! And I jumped on it right away.”

Ultimately, the beat Minaj loved turned into “Barbie World,” her team-up with Ice Spice produced by RiotUSA that contains a sample of AQUA’s ’90s classic “Barbie Girl” and also credits the Europop band on the track.

Barbie fans will need to wait until July 21 before catching the film in theaters. In the meantime, fans can listen to “Barbie World,” Dua Lipa’s “Dance The Night,” PinkPantheress’ “Angel” and more from the soundtrack.

Here Are the Lyrics to Tracy Chapman & Luke Combs’ ‘Fast Car’

Tracy Chapman topped Billboard’s Country Songwriters chart (dated June 17) for the first time, thanks to Luke Combs’ cover of her hit “Fast Car.”

Combs’ version has generated at least $500,000 in global publishing royalties, Billboard estimates, with the majority of it going to Chapman, who owns both the writers’ and publisher’s share of the song. Additionally, the success of Combs’ version has boosted Chapman’s original, with weekly consumption of Chapman’s version increasing 44% since Combs’ version was released, according to Luminate.

“I never expected to find myself on the country charts, but I’m honored to be there,” Chapman told Billboard in a statement. “I’m happy for Luke and his success and grateful that new fans have found and embraced ‘Fast Car.’”

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports Signs Deal With Italy’s Series A Soccer League

Jay-Z is expanding his sports roster. The rapper and businessman’s Roc Nation Sports announced on social media on Monday (July 10) that it has landed a deal with Italy’s Series A soccer league.

The “strategic partnership” between the two aims to grow the Italian league in North America by engaging in existing fans and recruiting new ones via digital content as well as activations and events, per Deadline. Roc Nation and Series A have had a working relationship since 2019.

“We are super excited to help Serie A expand its brand throughout America while helping to develop meaningful commercial partnerships along with enhanced brand visibility that will lead to continued growth for one of the world’s premier football leagues,” said Michael Yormark, president of Roc Nation Sports.

Back in October, Forbes writer Zack O’Malley Greenburg revealed Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists list on his Zogblog, sharing that Jay-Z remains atop the list as rap’s only certified billionaire.

Greenburg estimated Jay’s fortune has increased to a whopping $1.5 billion thanks to a diversified portfolio that includes investments in everything from music (Roc Nation entertainment) to real estate, spirits (Armand de Brignac champagne) and startups including Rihanna’s wildly successful Savage X Fenty brand.
