Here Are the 10 Biggest Hot 100 Hits You Can Invest In With JKBX

If you could invest in songs performed by Beyoncé, Adele, Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran and earn a piece of the money generated every time that song is played, would you?

JKBX, a new music investing platform (pronounced “jukebox”), is betting fans and investors will. Starting Sept. 12, it will list around 100 songs written by everyone from OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder to Diplo to the members of rock band American Authors for fans to reserve their investments.

Billboard scrolled through the initial batch — which includes songs performed by Beyoncé, Adele, U2, Justin Bieber, Travis Scott, Ellie Goulding, Jonas Brothers and more — and selected the top 10 biggest chart hits, based on their rank on the Billboard Hot 100.

Over the coming months, JKBX says it plans to add more songwriters and songs. As these investments await final approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), JKBX notes that early adopters will not have to put money down now; they can open accounts on JKBX and reserve royalty shares linked to the songs, which will be non-binding until it gets a green light from the SEC.

It is worth noting that the music industry looks at many factors to determine how much revenue a song is expected to earn — where a song ranked on our chart is merely one. But if JKBX clears the remaining SEC hurdles and its offerings and platform take off, financial experts say that royalty shares in hit songs like those below could prove a sound investment.

Take a look at the 10 biggest Hot 100 hits that will be available through JKBX below.

BTS’ Jung Kook Collabs With Alesso for Dance Remix of ‘Seven’: Stream It Now

Jung Kook is showing ARMY what devotion is. The BTS member added another layer of collaboration to his new hit song “Seven” by dropping a dance-heavy remix with Swedish DJ and producer Alesso on Friday (Aug. 25).

The latest version of the song that features Latto adds waves of synth bass and rhythmic variation that help the track — according to the press release — “encapsulate the sound of sizzling summer nights.”

Since the BTS singer dropped the original version of “Seven” on July 14, the song has found success on the Billboard charts. It debuted at No. 1 on the July 29-dated Billboard Hot 100, making Jung Kook the second member of the K-pop band to top the all-genre tally. (Jimin was the first when his single “Like Crazy” debuted at No. 1 in April.) “Seven” also marked the first time that rapper Latto reached the summit of the chart.

The song has also topped the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. tallies for five weeks to date. “Seven” reaching No. 1 on both charts also marked the first time that a BTS soloist topped the two lists.

But Jung Kook’s single on the Aug. 26-dated Global Excl. U.S. list isn’t the only one by a BTS member in the top 10. V’s two latest solo songs — “Love Me Again” and “Rainy Days” — debuted at Nos. 6 and 8, respectively. The achievement makes V the fifth member of BTS to have songs in the tally’s top 10 as a solo artist.

Bebel Gilberto Breaks Down 5 Essential Songs from Her Love-Letter Album to Father João Gilberto

Bebel Gilberto embodies the essence of bossa nova’s modern evolution. Last Wednesday (Aug. 16), the singer-songwriter showcased this on stage at a sold-out show at Poisson Rouge, nestled in the heart of New York’s storied bohemian neighborhood Greenwich Village, where she gave audiences an early preview of her latest album João (out Friday, Aug. 25), a heartfelt tribute to her late Brazilian father, João Gilberto.

As the daughter of the bossa nova legend — and also of Brazilian music icon Miúcha — Bebel’s art is deeply rooted in her musical heritage. Yet the singer has carved a distinct path of her own, fusing traditional Brazilian rhythms with electronic flourishes and global influences. On João, she brings it all back home. With her ethereal voice and innovative production, Bebel effortlessly transcends the classic genre, reimagining the sonic boundaries of Brazilian music with a New York state of mind, and a thrust for cultural exploration.

Last week on stage, the Brazilian chanteuse — who wore a vintage-style black Prada dress and her carefully messy hair pinned up — was a musical force: spunky yet elegant with a dashing sense of humor. “Sorry, but for some reason I’m feeling Beyoncé,” she said as she gave the sound engineers feedback to take out some reverb. Applying red lipstick, she declared, “I’m not just bossa nova, I’m punk. I lived in New York City for 29 years.” She then proceeded to invite a cute shih tzu dog on stage while crooning, “I love you.” For the encore, she came out sipping on a Corona, while her mellifluous melodies weaved an intricate tapestry of emotions.

New York City was just one stop of her international João Tour, where she’ll make her way to major cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Quebec City, Stockholm and London. Recorded at Reservoir Studios in New York, João was created alongside producer Thomas Bartlett, with Bebel gathering a collective of musicians such as her nephew drummer Chico Brown, as well as guitarist Guilherme Monteiro and music arranger and trombone player, Clark Gayton.

Billboard Español caught up with the artist to discuss five essential songs from João.

“Adeus América”

I would start with the opening song, “Adeus América.” It’s a song that I discovered through my father’s voice. He had done a live presentation [of it] at the [19th] Montreux Jazz Festival, the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival [in Switzerland]. He was coming back to Brazil after being in the United States, and touring around the world for the last 20 years. The fact that he sang that song [to me] inspired me to open the album with it. It was the first song I recorded.

The guitar is from Guilherme Monteiro, who’s been touring with me. He did incredible work, researching my father’s chord changes, dissecting the way that daddy played, and the right vibe. I love the production by Thomas Bartlett — who was super open, opinionated, as he’s not Brazilian, you know? It was like a trip into my dad’s music. I have deep love for “Adeus América” in particular, and I love the result. It is catchy and I hold it in my heart. It’s one of my favorites.

Editor’s note: the original song was recorded in 1985, and released two years later on the album Live in Montreux

“Eu Vim Da Bahia”

My second selection is “Eu Vim Da Bahia,” a song that’s on another album from my dad’s, which is known as the White Album [Ed. Note: It’s João Gilberto’s 1973 self-titled album]. “Eu vim da bahia” in English means “I came from Bahia.” The original song is from Gilberto Gil, who actually shares the same name as my father, and people kept confusing them. Gil’s recording has a totally different vibe.

When daddy did it, it was so intense — and it tells the story of Bahia, the background, why he came from Bahia and why he wants to come back. It’s also a nostalgic song, and I believe that is one of my best interpretations. I was a big fan for a long time, but I never thought I was going to one day record it. It was one of the songs that I easily did. I’m very happy with my vocals. It took me two or three takes; it wasn’t a big effort. I really took a trip on it and it was really beautiful. I love the results.

“É Preciso Perdoar”

“É Preciso Perdoar” is one of the most beautiful songs of the album, and maybe my favorite song ever. My father also recorded it on that same White Album and it’s been recorded by Cesária Évora, [Ryuichi Sakamoto and Caetano Veloso] on the Red Hot & Rio album that got so famous, [where] David Byrne also participated. But the words reflect the state of mind that I am currently in.

There is also an electronic effect that Thomas did. It’s really beautiful, and I think it captures the mantra that the song has. I’m very courageous to take the chance to re-record such a classic. I have beautiful drummers playing on it. One of them is my nephew, Chico Brown, Carlinhos Brown’s son. He did incredible work and programming. I also really love Guilherme Monteiro’s guitar.

The video is really beautiful. When I created the vibe, I wanted to do a little bit of acting on it. [The song has] very deep words. I decided to do something inspired by Sinéad O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” [music video]. Later, she left us. I wish she knew. She inspired so many people around the world, and probably she didn’t even know that.

“Undiú”

That one is my father’s composition. It’s an instrumental song my father created on his guitar.  My father loved yoga and he loved mantras. He really practiced yoga as [much as] the guitar. His obsession with religion was also the way of playing the guitar. That song sounds like a mantra, it’s beautiful. Thomas Bartlett also plays accordion on that song. It’s quite psychedelic in a way. I’m very happy to take that step away from the classics and do an untouched song from my dad.

“O Pato”

The fifth one is called “the duck.” It’s a song that my father got very famous for at the beginning of his career. It’s very funny; it sounds like a song from a cartoon. I was involved in all the arrangements and invited this great, incredible trombone player, Clark Gayton, who developed all the arrangements with me. It sounds a little playful — [to have] the horns, which are adorable, playing against the guitar and the drums. I love it. It sounds a little funky and childish at the same time. It’s very fun and I’m very happy that I recreated such a classic in a totally different approach.

Over on the ARIA Albums Chart, Genesis Owusu, the Canberra, Australia-raised talent, secures a top 10 start and a new career high for his sophomore album, Struggler (AWAL).

Struggler bows at No. 4, besting the No. 27 peak for 2021’s Smiling With No Teeth, an album that snagged almost every award possible in these parts, including the Australian Music Prize, ARIA Awards, AIR Awards and more. Smiling With No Teeth peaked at No. 27 on the official, national tally.

Hozier returns with Unreal Unearth (Columbia/Sony), the Irish singer and songwriter’s third studio album. It’s new at No. 13, and follows the No. 3 peak for his debut, self-titled LP from 2014 and the No. 8 best for its followup, Wasteland, Baby from 2019.

Also new to the chart are albums by one-time ARIA male artist of the year Dan Sultan (Dan Sultan at No. 15 via Liberation/Universal), celebrated Aussie singer and songwriter Gretta Ray (Positive Spin at No. 17 via EMI) and K-pop boy band NCT Dream (ISTJ – The 3rd Album new at No. 20 via Universal).

At the top of the tally, Barbie The Album (Atlantic/Warner) lifts 2-1, ahead of Taylor Swift’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) (via Universal) and the Weeknd’s The Highlights (Universal), respectively.

Miley Cyrus Grows From Her Past in New Single ‘Used to Be Young’: Stream It Now

Miley Cyrus continued her “endless summer vacation” on Friday (Aug. 25) with her reflective new single, “Used to Be Young.”

The song, which looks back on her past, features the introspective lyrics in the chorus: chorus: “You tell me time has done changed me / That’s fine, I’ve had a good run / I know I used to be crazy / That’s ’cause I used to be young.”

Cyrus gave some insight into writing the song in an Instagram post revealing the lyrics earlier in the week, writing, “I have spent the last 18 months painting a sonic picture of my perspective to share with you. The time has arrived to release a song that I could perfect forever. Although my work is done, this song will continue to write itself everyday. The fact it remains unfinished is a part of its beauty. That is my life at this moment ….. unfinished yet complete.”

“Y’all have been asking for new music for a while,” she wrote on Instagram announcing the song a week prior to its release, sharing the track’s glamorous cover art. “Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer.”

Gomez hasn’t released a full-length album since 2020’s Rare, though she did drop her all-Spanish EP Revalación the following year. She’s also guested on a handful of sporadic singles since her last full album, including Rema’s 2022 smash “Calm Down,” and released a standalone track “My Mind & Me” in support of her documentary of the same name last year.

Tim McGraw on His New Album ‘Standing Room Only,’ Upcoming Tour & More | Billboard News

Country superstar Tim McGraw tells us all about his brand-new album ‘Standing Room Only,’ his upcoming tour, the current rise of country music, and more!

Tim McGraw
As far as throwing stuff, I don’t think I could tolerate that. Hopefully I’m quick enough to dodge. Yeah. Anything now, but you know soft goods I’m used to having thrown, but nothing solid.

Tim McGraw
Hi, I’m Tim McGraw and this is Billboard News.

Tetris Kelly
It’s Tetris with Billboard News and I’m chilling with country music legend Tim McGraw. Thanks for coming!

Tim McGraw
Thank you, man. Thanks for having me

Tetris Kelly
We got to talk about the 17th studio album you put together. How do you even keep yourself motivated to make music at this point? I haven’t done anything 17 times!

Tim McGraw
Anything 17 times? Nothing?

Tetris Kelly
Nothing.

Tim McGraw
Actually, it seems like there’s been more because I’ve been doing it for 30 years, I guess a little over 30 years. It seems like there’s more albums out there. If you count all the greatest hits.

Tim McGraw
What usually happens is when I get ready to do a project, I sort of had these ideas of the kinds of music and kind of messages I want to sing about, kind of sonically what I want the record to sound like. So I’ll start writing songs with the themes that I want. And I’ll finish a song and I think ‘This is pretty good. This is kind of what I wanted to say.’ So I might cut this one. And then sure enough, like Tom Douglas, or Lori McKenna, or the Warren Brothers will send me a song. And it’s saying what I was trying to say, but way better, so then my song goes into the bin. And so I made one song on the album that I wrote, which song was that “Nashville, CA/L.A. Tennessee.”
