Dubbed Los Estadios: Antes de Que Amanezca Tour, the pop band’s new trek comes on the heels of its touring success with more than 1 million tickets sold in 2023, according to Universal Music Latino, which led to the Colombian band’s upcoming first-ever stadium tour in Latin America.

“We have a wishlist of things we wanted to try to incorporate into the show,” Morat — composed of Juan Pablo Isaza, Juan Pablo Villamil, Martín Vargas and Simón Vargas — tells Billboard. “One thing we do a lot of is also think about the shows as moments so, that each song has something special, some moment, some little thing. And obviously our management team was hysterical because that obviously directly impacts the budget, but we were eager to have every one of the songs have something and at the end we did something that I think is very special. Our motto today is ‘We’re losing money, but let’s go down in history.’”

In 2016, the band, which got its start hand-delivering CDs in its native Bogotá, Colombia, and playing gigs in local bars, released its first album, Solo El Amor Y Sus Efectos Secundarios. That same year, they received a Latin Grammy best new artist nomination. Morat’s latest album, Si Ayer Fuera Hoy, scored the band its first entry on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart, where it peaked at No. 18 on the tally dated Nov. 19, 2022.

Tickets for Los Estadios Tour are set to go on sale soon. Fans can find more information at moratoficial.com. See the dates below:

Morat Announces Stadium Tour in Latin America, Talks Performing in Colombia & More | Billboard News

Colombian band Morat sat down with Billboard‘s Chief Content Officer of Latin/Español, Leila Cobo, to talk about their upcoming tour in Latin America, performing in El Campín stadium in Colombia and more!

Tetris Kelly:
Morat is about to hit the road and Leila Cobo sat down with the boys to talk about touring.

Leila Cobo:
This sound is going to be played in stadiums, starting this summer. Stadiums. In other words, we were talking about 15,000 people, now we are going to be talking about 45,000 people. What does that feel like? Is it a mixture of excitement, that we’re ready, I can’t wait to stand up there? What’s going on?

Morat:
Especially the one in Bogota, it’s particularly – like it hits you differently partly because I think there is one thing that happens in Colombia and that is that I feel that we are a country where we have become so accustomed to local consumption and genuinely value talent from our country. And usually what ends up happening is those who hit outside end up bouncing back in the country. It is a particular thing, but

Leila Cobo:
With that being said, you are signed with Universal in Spain.

Morat:
Aha, exactly. And people have a tendency to see that. And I feel like in the last I would say in the last ten years it feels like things are starting to change and it feels different. And being able to return home and play at the El Campín stadium, which is the stadium of the city we grew up in, it’s a very strong thing to think about playing there and then sleep in one’s house, then go out partying with friends, that is a very strange thing.

Jinkx Monsoon Is Making Her Carnegie Hall Debut in 2025: ‘I’m Thrilled and Humbled and Ready’

There’s no need to “convince yourself” of any “delusion” — drag superstar Jinkx Monsoon is really performing at Carnegie Hall!

On Wednesday (Feb. 7), Carnegie Hall officially announced their 2024-25 concert season. Among the many new shows coming to the legendary New York City venue, one in particular stood out to Drag Race; on Valentine’s Day 2025, the concert hall revealed that Monsoon would be taking to the stage.

While the performer has yet to reveal the title or poster for their show, Monsoon teased in a press release that the one-night-only concert would feature original songs and covers spanning genres like cabaret, show tunes, rock and pop, as well as a few unannounced special guests.

“I truly don’t know what to say — my whole life, I’ve listened to my idols’ voices as they sung on the stage of Carnegie Hall … and now I get to join them in the pantheon?” she said in a statement. “All I know is, I’m thrilled and humbled and READY!”

This won’t be the queen’s first time on an iconic New York stage — in January 2023, Monsoon made her Broadway debut in Chicago, where she played the Cook County Jail’s mother hen Matron “Mama” Morton for a 10-week engagement. Following her run on the Great White Way, the triple-threat performed their character’s signature song, “When You’re Good to Mama,” on the finale episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15.

Subscriptions to the Carnegie Hall’s 2024-2025 season are available now, with individual tickets for Monsoon’s show going on sale August 12. See what Jinkx had to say about her impending Carnegie Hall show below:

Here’s Why Fans Think Beyoncé’s Next Album Is Country

It’s been nearly two years since Beyoncé released Renaissance in June 2022, and fans have been buzzing on what’s next ever since. At the time of release, Beyoncé’s website and Instagram bio read “act i | Renaissance,” and an accompanying British Vogue spread and cover story teased “a thrilling abundance” of new music.

The BeyHive is ready for new music now, and have been speculating on what the superstar has in store for the next acts of her Renaissance era, with a popular theory being that Bey might dip into her Southern roots with a country album. It would make sense, given that on her 2019 single, “Black Parade,” the Houston native sings, “I’m going back to the South… where my roots ain’t watered down.”

In November, in a since-deleted tweet, New York Times reporter Kyle Buchanan said Act II of the Renaissance trilogy would be an “acoustic album,” and that Act III would be a collaboration with Jay-Z, though Bey never confirmed the information.

In fact, Bey hasn’t confirmed anything surrounding any upcoming release, but that’s not stopping the Internet from buzzing with theories. See below for all the reasons why Beyoncé fans speculate that the “Break My Soul” singer’s next album will be a country album.

Warner Music Group Just Had Its Biggest Quarter Ever. Now It’s Reducing Staff by 10% to Invest More in Music

Warner Music Group announced Wednesday (Feb. 7) that its quarterly revenue grew 17% for the period ended Dec. 31, 2023, up 11% in normalized revenue, to $1.75 billion, its highest quarterly mark ever, ahead of its earnings call Thursday. At the same time, CEO Robert Kyncl announced in an internal memo to staff obtained by Billboard that the company will be reducing its workforce by 10%, or some 600 people, as part of a plan to free up $200 million in cost savings to reinvest into the company.

Much of that workforce reduction, Kyncl wrote, will come in the form of Warner’s owned and operated media properties — such as Uproxx and HipHopDX, which it acquired in August 2018 — as well as in corporate and support roles. “Earlier today, we began exiting our O&O media properties, as well as our in-house ad sales function,” Kyncl wrote. “These are dynamic platforms, but they operate outside our core responsibilities to our roster. We’re in an exclusive process for the potential sale of the news and entertainment websites Uproxx and HipHopDX, with more to say on that soon. After a thorough exploration of alternatives, we’ve decided to wind down the podcasting brand Interval Presents and social media publisher IMGN.”

Kyncl further added that Warner is making the move from “a position of strength,” noting that the company currently has five of the top 10 songs on the Hot 100, “and that’s the smart time to change, innovate and lead. Music is constantly morphing, so we need to morph with it.”

That $200 million in cost savings will be realized by the end of September 2025, Kyncl said in the memo; some of those laid off have already begun to be informed, while the “vast majority” will be notified “by the end of September 2024,” he writes.

“As we carry out our plan, it’s important to bear in mind why we’re making these difficult choices,” the memo continued. “We’re getting on the front foot to create a sustainable competitive advantage over the next decade. We’ll do so by increasing funding behind artists and songwriters, new skill sets, and tech, to help us deliver on our three strategic priorities,” which he says includes growing engagement with music, increasing the value of music and evolving how Warner’s teams work together.

Read Kyncl’s full note to staff below.

Hi everyone,

We just finished our first All Hands of 2024 from LA.

This is a pivotal moment in the evolution of this great company, so I wanted to make sure you heard about it directly from me. As I outlined in my note last month, 2024 is a year during which we will double down on our core business and move at an increased velocity to seize the incredible opportunities for music in the new world.

This week, our recording artists make up five of the top 10, and our songwriters have six of the Top 10, on the Billboard Hot 100. Today, we’re revealing our latest quarterly results: we grew 11% in normalized revenue. And with growing momentum in Recorded Music streaming and excellent results in Music Publishing, we hit our highest quarterly revenue ever. We’re in a position of strength, and that’s the smart time to change, innovate, and lead. Music is constantly morphing, so we need to morph with it.

Today, we’re announcing a plan to free up more funds to invest in music and accelerate our growth for the next decade. To do that, we have to make thoughtful choices about where we put our people, resources, and capital. So, as part of that plan, we’ll be realizing approximately $200 million in annualized cost savings by the end of September 2025. The majority of these savings will be reinvested, putting more money behind the music.

Our plan includes reducing our workforce by approximately 10%, or 600 people – the majority of which will relate to our Owned & Operated media properties, corporate and various support functions.

We’ve already begun to inform many of the impacted employees, and the vast majority will be notified by the end of September 2024. I recognize this is unsettling news. To the people who will be leaving us: you deserve a heartfelt thank you for your hard work and dedication. We’re fortunate that you’ve been part of the team. We’ll be moving as thoughtfully and respectfully as possible, so you have the critical information you need, and we’ll support you through this transition.

Earlier today, we began exiting our O&O media properties, as well as our in-house ad sales function. These are dynamic platforms, but they operate outside our core responsibilities to our roster. We’re in an exclusive process for the potential sale of the news & entertainment websites Uproxx and HipHopDX, with more to say on that soon. After a thorough exploration of alternatives, we’ve decided to wind down the podcasting brand Interval Presents and social media publisher IMGN. Maria and I continue to discuss the ongoing evolution of WMX, and how best to further improve our services to artists and labels, and she’ll update the team in the coming weeks.

As we carry out our plan, it’s important to bear in mind why we’re making these difficult choices. We’re getting on the front foot to create a sustainable competitive advantage over the next decade. We’ll do so by increasing funding behind artists and songwriters, new skill sets, and tech, to help us deliver on our three strategic priorities:

Grow the engagement with Music

Discovering and developing artists and songwriters is at the heart of everything we do. We’ll  turbocharge our efforts and investments, with additional focus on high growth geographies and vibrant genres, as well as using our data and insights to help original talents cut through the increasing noise, and taking a holistic global approach to maximizing the potential of their catalogs.

Increase the value of Music

This is one of our industry’s largest and most complex opportunities and one that we’re working on diligently, whether it’s new DSP deal structures or building superfan experiences to help artists connect directly with their most passionate followers.

Evolve how we work together

In order to grow at an accelerated pace, we need to structure our organization so that we can grow efficiently and continue to invest more into music at the same time. That requires being intentional about where centralized shared functions make sense, versus where they are best fully dedicated. This will empower subject matter experts, while scaling our resources. We already made moves in this direction by centralizing our technology, finance and business development teams last year.

Above all, we’re positioning ourselves to be first, to be different, and to be exceptional. I – and the entire leadership team – will be keeping you updated as we make progress. In May, we’ll hold our next All Hands meeting, which we’ll devote to our best new music, as well as our most promising projects.

Thank you for your understanding, passion, and determination. We’re in an amazing industry, we’re partnered with many extraordinary artists and songwriters, and now is the time for us to pioneer the future.

Which Latin Artist Should Headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show? Vote!

In 2020, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez co-headlined the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show.

Each artist performed a medley of their biggest hits, while the former invited special guest Bad Bunny and the latter invited J Balvin. The two superstars closed off their energetic set by joining forces on Lopez’s “Let’s Get Loud” and Shakira’s World Cup anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”

To date, their memorable performance is the most-watched halftime show on the NFL’s official YouTube channel, boasting more than 300 million views.

But the Colombian and Puerto Rican acts were not the only Latin artists to grace the coveted stage; in fact, Gloria Estefan took center stage at two halftime shows. First in 1992 at Minneapolis and at New York City in 1999, where she performed alongside Stevie Wonder.

The following year, Spanish crooner Enrique Iglesias (known for countless Latin hits) joined the stage with Phil Collins, Toni Braxton and Ecuadorian-American artist Christina Aguilera at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

This weekend, Billboard’s latest cover star, Usher, will headline the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will face off in this year’s Super Bowl, which will be held on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Though numerous global acts have performed at the renowned football event, including Michael Jackson, Madonna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd and Rihanna, we would love to see more Latin representation.

FanDuel Super Bowl Commercial Featuring Carl Weathers Still Happening With Some Changes

The world lost an icon in Carl Weathers last week, but fans will still see the late actor one last time, thanks to a FanDuel Super Bowl commercial.

Spotted on Variety, FanDuel says it will still air the Super Bowl spot featuring Carl Weathers. Leading up to this weekend’s big game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, the sports betting company has been airing teasers for its big game spot that stars Weathers alongside retired NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski.

The teasers follow the NFL champion as he gears up for the Kick of Destiny 2, where viewers can watch him attempt to make a 25-yard field goal, and America can bet on if he either misses or makes it.

Last year, Gronkowski missed the kick, but in the teasers, he gets some encouragement from Weathers in the teaser where he scoops up the NFL analyst on a motorcycle with a sidecar.

Some Changes To Commercial Will Be Made

Variety reports that after initially saying it would make adjustments to the commercial, FanDuel says it will run the ads and make some changes so that it will be appropriate. “The family has been very supportive that they would still like to see Carl in the work,” Andrew Sneyd, FanDuel’s executive vice president of marketing, said after consulting with Weather’s family.

Sneyd continues, “We need to change what we are doing in the Bowl. The live event itself carries forward and as is. Rob will kick the field goal, and he will be even more inspired to make it. He really enjoyed meeting Carl and found him to be such an optimistic and energetic person.”

“We had built a master. One is an edit if he makes the kick, and we have an edit if he misses. That content we had in those masters wouldn’t be appropriate for us to do anymore,” Sneyd adds. “Since the news of Carl’s passing came, we have been working with editors to help us get back to something that does make sense.” FanDuel, he adds, is in contact with Weathers’ family “to make sure they are comfortable.”

He continues, “Such work has been difficult. We have been viewing edits through tears. We really enjoyed the short time we had to work with him. He’s a wonderful man, and he genuinely is an inspiration and had such a positive outlook on the world. We want to make sure we try to meet this moment with the respect it deserves.”
